Comments: Above Lindley, Steuben County, NY - Coming from
Corning, NY to Lawrenceville, Tioga, PA, on Rt. 15, turn right above Lindley
on Watson Creek Road for about 8 miles. It is a maze of overgrown country
roads from there. It has been turned into a pasture and only a few stones
left.

Checked your list for a Cem. with a sign on it "Deats Cem." Tioga Co.
Pa. Also, checked Baker which it is listed under on the Steuben Co. web.
page. There is a question of whether or not this is in Pa. or NY. It is
located on the State Line Road between NYand Penna between Tioga,Co. Pa(Lawrenceville,Pa.)and
Lindley,NY. The Steuben page says it is 8 miles from Lindley which I questioned
because Lindley is 6 miles square. I have checked with the town assessor
and the highway superintendant of Lindley. They have no knowledge of it.
After talking to several residents in the area, they state it is on the
left side of the road or the Pa. side. When the Lindley bicentennial book
was written in 1990 , it was listed as Deats possibly on the Stoddard Road,
but authors were not sure.Is there
perhaps another name under which it might be listed on your page? Names
listed are Baker,Elliot, Westfall,Deats,. The dates go from 1862 to 1947.
Please refer to Steuben Co. page under Lindley Cem for a complete list.
Think it is important to have correct documentation. Wasn't sure who would
have the Pa. records for that area. Hoping you can shed some light on this.

Lindley, Ny.14858 Thanks
Joyce- a note to let you know we tracked the Baker- Deats Cem . down
today. It is definitely on the Penna. side of the State Line Road in Lawrence
Township. It is a half mile on the left from the junction of Button Hill,
State Line Road.It is tended, fenced, gate. Not sure by whom. No sign this
time. If you pass the Swan road, you have gone too far. The Button-Hill
road is across the road from the Tompkins campground on the Bliss road
(north side of the Cowanesque River. The Steuben Co. NY website has the
names of the graves listed under the Baker Cemetery. Scott Gitchell has
no record of it. My next Cem in that area is the Cady Cem., since both
Tioga, Pa. and Steuben Co. have it listed on their websites. Will keep you
posted. We found the Cem. by using Watson Creek, State Line Rd. in Lindley,
but think road is much better, probably shorter using the Bliss Road. thanks
for your assistance. Kitty P.
