Mack, aged 58 years. He was born April 5, 1805. He was married Sept 3,
1828 to Lura Ann Kenard, who died at Wellsboro Sept. 8, 1862. He was the
father of nine children, six survive. He was a blacksmith in Wellsboro,
during nearly thirty years. His funeral took place on the Sabbath Oct.
25th, at the Wellsboro M.E. Church, Pastor J.D. Bell conducted the services. |

Accident and loss of life. As the families of George Skelton
and Daniel Monroe were proceeding down the mountain to Pine Creek to attend
a funeral service on Sunday, a portion of the wagon gave way and the horses,
becoming unmanageable, plunged down the mountain at a fearful rate. The
wagon overturned and nearly every person of the six in the company was
injured. The little daughter of Mr. Monroe was so badly injured, that she
died on Monday. Mrs. Monroe was seriously injured, also one of Mr. Skelton's
girls. |
