Tyler, Canfield |
We are pained to record an accident by which Mr. Canfield
Tyler, one of the most enterprising and valued citizens of Delmar, lost
his life last Wednesday evening. Mr. Tyler had been in attendance upon
the Fair, and was returning home, accompanied by Mr. William Francis, when,
in turning the corner above Mr. Samuel Dickinson's, he was flung from the
buggy and fell between the forward wheel and the shafts. The horses took
fright and in this terrible position he was dragged 45 rods, breaking his
leg and mangling him so shockingly that he died on saturday morning. Mr.
Tyler came to this county last spring from Smithville, Chenango county,
NY and was working Mr. Francis's farm at the time of the accident. He was
a farmer, a good citizen, a kind husband and father. |
