Lindsey, Maria |
At Lawrenceville, Tioga Co.,
Pa., on the 27th July, ult., Mrs, Maria, wife of Hon. James Ford, and eldest
daughter of the late Judge Lindsley, aged fifty-nine years. As a daughter,
wife, and mother, her worth cannot be estimated. As a Christian, Mrs. F.
was humble and unobtrusive, yet firm and consistent. Long will she be remembered
for her zealous and hearty devotion to the diversified forms of Christian
benevolence for the suppres-sion of vice, and for the promotion of virtue
and religion. Her health, though never vigorous, for the last year of her
life, was more feeble than usual, and when her last protra-cted sickness
commenced she seemed confident that she should never recover. The severity
of her sickness prevented her saying much, and yet when her strength permitted,
she addressed one and another of her family, and with an earnest-ness and
fidelity which will never be forgotten. Com. |
