Obituary for Mary Moore
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Moore 74 of Belton MO, who died this morning in Cushing Memorial Hospital, will be at 10 am Monday in Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Moore was born July 29, 1899 at Elmira N. Y., and was a daughter of Austin A. and Emma May Pickens Riley. She was a dispatcher for a cab company for several years. She married Daniel L. Moore who died March 13, 1957
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lashley of Carolton Tex., Mrs Bertha Sasse of Waco Tex., Mrs Betty Lou Puckett of Citris Heights, Calif., Mrs Mary Kay Thomas of Wichita and Mrs. Lucille Sayers of Kansas City, Kan., Seven sons, Daniel L. Jr. of Belton, Charles W. of Blackwell Okla., Austin A. of Wichita, Lloyd E. of Shreveport, La., Robert D. and Russell E., both of Weston, MO., and Oran T. of Belton, MO; 56 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. MRS. LIBBIE EKELMAN
Mrs. Libbie Ekelman, 76, late of 907 East Church Street, died Thursday.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Dutcher; two sons, Alfred Ekelman
of New York City and Albert of Detroit, a sister, Mrs. William Krause of
Elmira; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ekelman
was a charter member of the German Evangelical Church and a member of the
Ladies’ Aid Society of that congregation. The funeral will be held in the
family home, 907 East Church Street, Monday at 2:30 pm. The Rev. R. Vieweg
will officiate. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Home where he resided. He was born March 4, 1918 in Delmar Township, PA
the son of the late Henry W. and Ella Etta Hakes Gleason. Surviving are
three sons, Thomas W. Gleason of Camp Hill, PA, Foster P. Gleason, Sr.
of Elmira Heights, and Henry W. Gleason of Rixford, PA; 12 grandchildren;

by his wife, Carrie R. Simmons Gleason; and son, Frederick Gleason. Friends

was a member of Middlebury Grange. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella

Flats, NY. Raymond was a retired union construction foreman, an avid bowler

HOLLENBECK, Roy, Retiree NY State Highway Dept.
Age 96 of Breesport, NY, Sunday, December 26, 1999 at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center. His family includes his loving wife of 54 years, Belle
(Squires) Hollenbeck; daughters Dorothy Harris of Youngstown, OH, Alice
Kelsey of Elmira, NY, Frances Riker of Elmira, NY and Roxanna Erskine of
Breesport, NY; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grand children and several nieces
and nephews. In his early working years, Roy worked for the railroad. Later,
during his nearly 50-year tenure with the State, Roy worked for the State
Department of Public Works and Highway Department. Early on he was first
to work with the road patrol in the county. Toward his retirement in the
60's, Roy was Road Superintendent for the State Highway Department out
of Horseheads. He was a member of the Breesport Southern Light Lodge #725
F.& A,M. Roy was also an avid hunter and gardener who also enjoyed
fishing and trapping. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral
Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Tuesday from 4-7:00 PM. His funeral

LENTZ Alice E. (VanGorder) Retiree Rudicks Dry Cleaners Age 92 of 3298 South Main St, Horseheads on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 in the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Alice was predeceased by her husband Fritz in 1969, her sisters Olive Hill and Inez Wise and brother Albert VanGorder. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her niece and namesake, Alice Hill (Dean) Montgomery of Cape Carteret, NC; several great nieces and nephews, including Tammy (Greg) Harvey of Horseheads; great-great nieces and nephews, including Kimberly and Kyle Harvey; and many close and caring friends and neighbors. Mrs. Lentz was a retiree of Rudicks Dry Cleaners in Elmira and a very avid Bingo player. MRS. MAGDALENA SNYDER
Mrs. Magdalena Snyder, widow of Frederick Snyder, died at the family
home No. 850 East Church St., on Wed. morning at 7:30 o’clock, aged 79.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William Wise and Mrs. John Wolfe,
and a son George Snyder, of this city; also a half-brother in Germany.
The deceased was a member of the German Evangelical church and the Aid
Society of that church. A prayer service was held at the home Saturday
at 1:30 pm and the Funeral Services in the church at 2:30 pm. Burial was
in Woodlawn. The Rev. Veiweg officiated.

Donald and Melvin. For many years Floyd was a self employed carpenter,
he later worked for Dalrymple Contracting and retired from Streeter Assciates.
he was a member of the Carpenters Local No. 532 and Horseheads Moose Lodge
No. 7532. Floyd was also an avid gardener and fisherman. Friends are invited
to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, Sunday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held there on Monday
at 2 pm. The Rev. Claudine Crooks will officiate. Committal Service will

Age 88 of Lowman, NY, Saturday, March 17, 1984. Friends are

of Niagara Falls, NY, Ethel Wendling of Lowman; sons, Adelbert Bennett
and Willis Bennett both of Lowman, Charles Bennett of Elmira; granddaughter,
Irene Spencer and 21 other grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Tina Spencer
and 60 other great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister,

NY on Monday, March 18, 1991 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Survived by: son,

Bennett of Elmira; 12 grandchildren; sister, Ethel Wendling of Lowman,
NY; sister & brother-in-law, Bertha & Ralph Vinson of Niagara Falls,

Green, Pastor of Dry Brook Community Church. Survived by daughters and
son-in-laws, Beatrice and John Miller of RD 1, Waverly, Nellie and Robert
Ash of Paramont, CA; grandchildren, Pat Hand, Diane Casselbury, John Miller,
all of Waverly, Phyllis Wamsley of Barton, NY; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren;
brother and sister-in-law, Merrett and Lucy Van-Valkner of Sayre, PA; sisters-in-law,
Florence Springstead of Breesport, and Gertrude Bennett of Lowman; several
nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Bennett,
in 1947 and husband, Charles Bennett, in 1978. Mrs. Bennett and her husband,
Charles, were co-owners of many show horses at the Chemung County Fairgrounds
for many years, also, together, they were in the farming business on the
Dry Brook Rd., Waverly. she was a member of the Dry Brook Community Church.

in her name, would be appreciated.

Age 90, of RD 1, Lowman, NY; Monday, October 3, 1994 at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Elmira, NY. She is survived by her children and their spouses;
Grace and Harold Milks, Chester and Ethel Bennett, Herman adn Anna Mae
Bennett and Gerald and Constance Bennett, all of Lowman, NY; 13 grandchildren;
29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased
by her husband, Herman and their daughter Lillian Bennett. Friends may

Eldrett, Bernice (Bobbie)COON Age 66, of 1109 Fifth Avenue West, Hendersonville,
NC, Sunday March 4, 1990, in Hendersonville. She was born in
Granville Summit, PA, the daughter of Lena Smith Coon of Elmira Heights,
NY, and the late William J. Coon. She was a prize-winning artist
and taught painting. She wrote a nature column for the West
Schulkyll Herald in Tower City PA. She also taught children
with learning disabilities in the Baltimore County (MD) Public School System.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Edward Eldrett,
to whom she was married May 13, 1945 in Elmira Heights, NY; a son, James
Eldrett of Baltimore, MD; two daughters, Cynthia Knust of Greensboro,
NC, and Daryl Cook of Seabrook, MD; and AFS daughter, Maria Helena Martins
of Vitoria, Brazil; one brother, Larry D. Coon of Venice, FL; four sisters,
Louise Swanson of Portland, OR, Geraldine Carey of Horseheads, NY, Phyllis
Ryan and Joan Livermore, both of Venice, FL; five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held, 2:00PM Wednesday at the Trinity Presbyterian
Church in Hendersonville, NC. Memorial contributions may be
made to the WNC Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, 35 Center St.,
Candler, NC 28715. Arrangements by Thos. Shepherd & Son,
Funeral Directors.
ELDRETT, Edward W., Jr. Age 82, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at his
residence. A private service will be held at a later date. Edward was an
adventurous man who loved nature and the out doors. He enjoyed hiking,
camping, bird watching, reading maps and scouting. He was a recipient of
the Wood Badge which is the highest honor for a Boy Scout leader. He served
as a 1st Lt. in the US Army in Italy during WWII and was a mechanical engineer
retired from Bethlehem Steel. He was also involved in various community
volunteer efforts. Edward graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in
Elmira Heights and Clarkson College in Potsdam, NY. His true love for people
and his intelligent, eclectic curiosity led him into an adventurous life
ever seeking to know people, to read, and to explore this wonderful life.
He was an ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church where he
enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. At the time of
his death he was a member of Starmount Presbyterian Church in Greensboro,
NC. Preceding him in death were his wife, Bernice C. Eldrett, brother H.
Carlton (Gyp) Eldrett; great granddaughter, Hannah N. Tyson; and son-in-law
Kenard M. Knust. Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Knust, of Greensboro,
Daryl Watkins, and husband, Bill, of Montross, VA; son, James Eldrett,
of Dundalk, MD; and grandchildren, Kimberly Tyson and husband, John, of
Greensboro, Carolyn Williams, and husband, Robert, of Asheville, K. Michael
Knust and wife, Jennifer, also of Greensboro, Christopher Eldrett, of Flagstaff,
AZ, and Jamie Eldrett of Ann Arbor, MI. In lieu of flowers memorials may
be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Hospice or to the Appalachian
Trail Conference. Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel is assisting the Eldrett
family.

Frank C. Cameron Dies Sunday at Home: Frank C. Cameron died Sunday at his home in the Lewis Mobile Home Court, Wellsboro, Pa., R.D. 3 following a lengthy illness. He was 65 years old. Mr. Cameron was born in Wellsboro July 9, 1908 the son of the late Leon B. and Mary C. Cameron, He was educated in the Wellsboro schools, attended Mansfield State College and graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with majors in music and psychology. He later received his master’s degree in experimental psychology at Michigan and did graduate work in his chosen field at Columbia University, New York City. Social service work in New York City, Baltimore and Washington was followed by Mr. Cameron’s appointment as an associate professor of experimental psychology at Monmouth College, Monmouth, N.J. In 1965, ill health forced his retirement from the Monmouth faculty and he returned to Wellsboro where he has made his home since that time. Mr. Cameron was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army’s Headquarters Company. Philippines Base Section. He was a member of the American Association of University Professors, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wellsboro, and of St. Michael and All Angels, Adelphi, Maryland. Survivors include: one brother, Leon B. Cameron, Big Flats, N.Y., two nieces, Mrs. Fred Oppenheimer, Lancaster, Pa., and Mrs. Jeff Nugent, Santa Monica, California two nephews, Leon B., III, and David R., Big Flats, N.Y. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to The Green Free Library, Wellsboro, or to the National Audubon Society, Washington, D.C.
