Jan. 1 – Posting Book. Snow & rains all day. Thermometer at 34

Jan. 2 – Thermometer at 40 in the evening. James Wheat, Alfred Wheat & Geo. Bouels (?sp) of Warren and their wives are here visiting.

Jan. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Jan. 9 – Dedication of the new M. E. Church at Canton, Brad. Co., Penna. Father & mother gone.

Jan. 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20

Jan. 22 – Snows all day snow 22 in deep. Thermometer at 28.

Jan. 26 – Sunday School – Francis Mead died

Jan. 30 – Father goes with Mr. Blakeslee to help take Lautus (sp?) Langford to the Insane Hospital at Harrisburg.

Feb. 2 – Anniversary of 2nd year of the Union S. School. Speaking by Rev. R. Crittenden Co Missionary.

Feb. 3

Feb. 4 – One letter to H. A. Weed, 1 to Brainard & Sampson. Receive papers from Senator Langdon.

Feb. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23

Feb. 24 – Go to a Wood Bee for E. Sweet no one out around home rest of day. Isadore with Hester to Thomas Blackwells. Father meets auditors. Receive Bible House catalogue.

Feb. 25 – President Johnson arrived for impeachment by Congress, great Stir in Washington.

Feb. 26,

Feb. 27 – S. W. Miller & wife make a call things are all (??) at Washington. Isadore not very well.

Feb. 28 – Go to Smithfield for Dr. Cowell. Isadore quite sick with the fever (Bilious)

Feb. 29 – Go to Smithfield for medicine. Isadore about the same. Roads drifted very badly.

May 23 – Hear of the nomination of Gen. U. S. grant for President and Hon. S. Colfax for Vice President by the Republican Convention of Chicago, Ill.

May 26 – Lonora Pearce of Smithfield died this morning. Mr. Robinson commenced digging cellar for the house.

June 5 – Received Family Bible in afternoon cost of bible $9.00 (freight .75 cents)

July 4 – Hoeing potatoes in forenoon, in afternoon take Isadore down home go up to quarterly meeting to the old Church, appointed (??) Steward at the quarterly conference. Thermometer at 100.

July 5 – Attend quarterly meeting at the Old Church preaching by the P. C. very warm. Thermometer at 99

July 7 – Isadore finish taking music lessons, ½ term.

July 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22

July 23 – Haying most of the day very little rain in afternoon, heavy showers in Smithfield with hail destroying all crops as far as it extended, hail washed in road 1 foot deep.

Aug. 3 – Alfred Riggs very sick father and mother go to see him.

Aug. 18 – Miss Emma Fitch stays over night with us her school closes tomorrow.

Aug. 21 – Mr. Charles Riggs of Canton visits us today stays over night goes to Towanda in the morn Saturday..

Oct. 26 – Go to Towanda after trimming for house get back about midnight rainy.

Nov. 3 – Go to Election gone the best part of day vote for Grant & Colfax (sp?)
