Mainesburg, PA

1875

Jan 01- Friday
The first day of 1875 finds me at home. Lida come up here. Chauncey was here also Alonzo Smith. Will went to Fathers. Will & Chauncey went to meeting. Nancy, children & I stayed at home. The same yesterday today and forever.

Jan 02 – Saturday
Chauncey & Hosmer called here . Will went hunting. Garabrant called here. I sent for picture. Frank come here at night and stayed all night. Nancy is here Trying (Prying, Drying, Crying?) [first letter very inconclusive although Crying seems most likely ]

Jan 03 – Sunday
Frank went away/ Wesley Reynolds brought Jule home. Orrin & Will went to Father’s. Nancy is here feeling bad. [the following is upside down at bottom of page] He shall feed his flock like a shepherd and gather the Lambs to his arms.

Jan 04 – Monday
Will went to Wellsborough. I done the chores. Kate come home with Orrin. Will come home in evening. Nancy is here. Jule went to Joseph’s, give girls lessons. Martha, Mary and Vina  0104

Jan 05 – Tuesday
Mrs Dodge called here. Will went to Frank Briant’s funeral. Will went to George Smith in eve. Nancy was here.

Jan 06 – Wednesday
Will & I went to the burgh. I had my dress fitted. Nancy Stayed with Jule. Florence stayed to Ephraim’s. Ephraim went to Troy.

Jan 07 – Thursday
Will hunted for Fox, went to the burgh, got me this book &c. Got mail, come home at supper time. Nancy is to our house.

Jan 08 – Fruday
Jule went give Robbins girls lessons. Martha, Mary, Vina. Will went to Isaac Squires. Will, Isaac & I went to Father’s Smiths to sign papers. Thomas & wife, Mary & Katie were there.

Jan 09 – Saturday
A very cold day. Orrin & Ellen May come over here. Will went to Father’s & to the burgh. Frank come home with him. A Stormy windy night. Nancy is here.

Jan 10 – Sunday
Orrin come over here today.  We all stayed at home today. Frank stayed here all day & all night. Nancy is here.

Jan 11 – Monday
Will went to Wellsborough. Frank drawed load of wood, took Jule to Mansfield in afternoon to get dress cut. Will come home with them. Nancy is here.

Jan 12 – Tuesday
Frank went to Jim Cudworth’s this morning. Jule went to Joseph’s. Will went to Troy after load Coal. Will went to Lodge.   Nancy is here today.

Jan 13 – Wednesday
Florence eye sore. Jule washed.  Will, Orrin took sheep on Robbins lot. We went to the burgh, got knives, forks, Pitcher. Nancy is here.

Jan 14 – Thursday
Will went to Garabrant, got a pig. Nancy is here staying. A cold day. Garabrant drove his cow up here. Will & Jule went to the burgh.

Jan 15 – Friday
A cold day. Pedler called here. Jule & Nancy went to Josephs.

Jan 16 – Saturday
Gid come here. Will & I went after table to Waldo’s    Will went to the burg in evening. Frank, Chauncey come home with  him. Nancy is here.
 

Waldo's Store in Sylvania was a place Rosina shopped for furniture.

Jan 17 – Sunday
Frank, Chauncey went to the burg. Miller & Tillie come here. Quarterly meeting day at Mainesburg. Nancy is here today.

Jan 18 – Monday
Will Jule Children & I took Nancy to Ephraim’s. We went to Father’s. Jule stayed all night. Will went to feed sheep. Frank come up here stayed all night.

Jan 19 – Tuesday
Will went up after Jule. Children went with him. Will drawed wood – his eye sore.

Jan 20 – Wednesday
Will, children & I went to Omar Douds. Jule went to Ephraims. Will got medicine for his eye. Got letter from Nerva.

Jan 21 – Thursday
Will stayed in the house for his eye is so sore. Frank come here took Horses to draw George Harvey  some wood. He went away with the Horses at night. Got my magazine.

Jan 22 – Friday
Will’s eye is no better. Jule went to Joseph’s –got some milk.

Jan 23 – Saturday
We washed some. Will is better. Gid come down here. Will went over to Warren’s.

Jan 24 – Sunday
Frank come here this morning. Orrin’s eye commenced to be sore. We stayed at home.

Jan 25 – Monday
Will went to Joseph’s to borrow knife. Warren helped kill beef. We took some to Father, Vaughan’s, Ephraim’s. Jule went to (unfinished)

Jan 28 – Thursday
Rained today. Frank drawed wood. Will went Hunting.

Jan 29 – Friday
Will & I went to the burg. I paid for dress making. [several lines erased and illegible]. We called to Louisa’s, eat dinner. Jule Orrin went to Joseph’s. Frank chopped.

Jan 30 – Saturday
Will Frank Children & I come over to Orrin’s. Frank went to Jason Watkins.  Minister called to bring bags. Ellen Chauncey come here stayed all night.

Jan 31 – Sunday
Lyman & Burt come here. Will Ellen & I took Jule to I. Whiting. Frank come home

Feb 01 – Monday
Frank & Will went to Josephs. Frank chopped. Will drawed wood. Ritz called here, also Artemus Rumsey. I sewed some.

Feb. 02 – Tuesday
Will drawed wood. Frank chopped wood. Josephine come here in afternoon.. Orrin went to P. P. Smith

Feb 03 – Wednesday
It rained. Cal called here. Will went to father’s & to the burgh. Uncle Billy Richman come here, stayed all night. I washed. Frank went got him a horse. He went away at night. Vina borrowed papers.

Feb 04  - Thursday
Will stayed at home. Frank chopped wood.

Feb 05 – Friday
Will went to Va—ks. Frank got mall made to Joseph’s. Taylor come here. Whiting brought Jule home.

Feb 06 – Saturday
Frank took his horse back to Clark. Louisa, Nancy & the children come here. Vannk paid his note. Will went to Father’s. Chauncey come here stayed all night.

Feb 07 – Sunday
We stayed at home. Nancy is here. Frank went away. Chauncey went back to the burgh.

Feb 08 – Monday
Frank got home at nine o’clock. He is chopping wood. Levi Robbins called here in evening. Will & I went to Cal Dewitt’s in evening. Jule went to Joseph’s. Nancy washed. Bige & Henry H. called.

Feb 09 – Tuesday
A very cold day. Frank chopped wood here in our woods at home. Nancy is here. Will went to Bill E. Shop . He went to Lodge, got sugar.

Feb 10 – Wednesday
Will went to Mansfield. Jule, Nancy went to Ephs. Frank chopped wood. Chauncey called got his overcoat. Butter 28.30. Nancy & Jule come back with Will. Will birth day 32 years old.

Feb.11- Thursday
Jule washing. It snows this morning. Frank chopped wood in afternoon. Will & Orrin went up to Father’s. wind high last night, snow blows. Nancy is here today.

Feb. 12 – Friday
Will Frank & Orrin have gone to Father’s to draw wood. A cold windy day. Jule has got a bad cold. Nancy is here. She is abed ten o’clock.

Feb. 13 – Saturday
Will & Frank drawed wood to Father’s. Children & I went up there and went to the burgh. Art’s folks were there. Will Frank Chauncey went to the burg in evening. Mr. Ames died today.

Feb. 14 – Sunday
Omar Doud’s folks were here today. Chauncey went to meeting. Will, Orrin & I went to Milton’s in Eve.

Feb 15 – Monday
Will & I went to Tioga on Cars. Called to Father’s to eat dinner. Mr. Ames funeral today. Billy H. come here. Chauncey & Frank went to Roseville to Donation.

Feb 16 – Tuesday
Will called to see Uncle Ahaz. Will & Orrin went to Fathers & to the burgh. Election Day. Vina called here this morning.  Jule went to Joseph’s. Frank chopped in afternoon. Will drove his cattle down here.

Feb. 17 – Wednesday
I went to Bill E. Will went away to Father’s & the burgh. Frank drawed wood. Fourteen years Since Pa died. 14

Feb. 18 – Thursday
Jule went to Bill  & see about Uncle Ahaz. Frank drawed wood. Mr. Taylor come here in evening.

Feb. 19 – Friday
Will went to Tioga with Thomas. Chauncey come here. Frank drawed wood in fournoon, chopped in afternoon. Nancy is here. Went to party in evening.

Feb 20 – Saturday
Lon Smith come home with Frank. Father come down here. Joseph called here also Warren R. we went to the burg took Father home. Chauncey come home with us. Frank Lon went away. Nancy is here.

Feb 21 – Sunday
Florence & I went to Bill E. Chauncey went away. Will went to his Father. Frank went to meeting in evening. Milton, Melissa called here. Will & I went to Bill E with them. Nancy is here.

Feb 22 – Monday
Will & Jule went to Troy, got some coal. Uncle Morris & wife were here. Chauncey was here. Nancy is here. Lyman come here today. Frank chopped in Robbins woods.

Feb 23 – Tuesday
Will went to the burg & to Father’s. Frank worked today, drawed sap pans in woods. Martha come got flour.

Feb 24 – Wednesday
Will went to the burg. Orrin went with him. we washed. Frank chopped and taped [tapped] some trees.

Feb. 25 – Thursday
It rains. Will went to Joseph’s. Frank went & bought a horse of Deke Smith.  Will went to the burgh & to his Father. Chauncey come here and stayed all night. Bige come here and got some crackers.

Feb 26 – Friday
Will was sick, Orrin & Florence. I washed spreads, bed ticks &c. Jule went to Oriin’s. Nancy is here today. Frank & Chauncey chopped in Robbins woods. They went to the burgh in the evening to an institute. [Teachers  Institute – clipping sent to Pat] Lydia & Josephine called here.

Feb 27 – Saturday
Frank Split wood some and went to institute in afternoon & eve. Milton borrowed corn sheller. Calvin called here. Chauncey went to the burgh with Frank’s horse. Nancy is here.

Feb 28 – Sunday
Chauncey went away with Frank’s horse. Lyman, Mrs. Soper and the children come here to see Nancy. Uncle Silas Smith come here, stayed all night, also Uncle Warren & Jule come here & stayed all night.

March 01 – Monday
The snow quite deep. Uncle Warren’s folks went home, also Uncle Silas. Frank went to the burgh. Nancy is not so well as common.

March 02 – Tuesday
Frank drawed wood. Will went to Bill E. & Joseph. Bige came here and got cider for Uncle Ahaz. Will, Frank went to the Lodge. Nancy is here taking on yet.

March 03 – Wednesday
Will went to Mill. Orrin went to Louisa, got Buttermilk. It snows hard yet, the most we have had this winter. Nancy is the same today.

March 04 – Thursday
Will & Frank are drawing hay from Robbins barn. Chauncey come here at night, stayed all night. Nancy is here today. Florence went to Josephs. Fourteen years since Ma died 14.

March 05 – Friday
Frank went up to Fathers to do chores. Will & Frank drawed hay from Robbins barn. Vina come here. Orrin went to the burgh. Nancy is talking steady stream. Frank & Chauncey went to a Donation at Albert Smiths for Elder Blane.

March 06 – Saturday
Frank drawed wood. Will took Mr. Taylor some corn. Louisa & Hannah come here. Will took them home. Chauncey went away. Frank went to the burgh in Eve. Frank taped [tapped] some more trees.

March 07 – Sunday
Frank went to Father’s to feed the cattle. Frank went away with horse and cutter. Orrin Ellen & Jule come over here. Chauncey come with them. Orison & Nerva called here in evening.

March 08 – Monday
Frank got home this morning. Will Children & I moved up to Father’s. Ezekial Strange called here. Also Vaughn G.S. Will went to the burgh.

March 09 – Tuesday
Frances stated this morning she was satisfied with what her grandpa gave her.   Will went to Mansfield. Orrin went with him. Vaughn come up and went over put lock on for Jule.

March 10 – Thomas Smith and James his son called here. Will went to Milton’s to change sleigh. He went home and to the burgh. Art called here talked taking Thomas notes.

March 11 – Thursday
Will went to Wellsborough, Vaughn went with him. Frances went over to Artemus Rumsey. He brought her back. Lawyer Allen came here to pay Father some money. Ellen & Hellen Doud come up here. Orrin went down to school.

March 12 – Friday
Will & the Children have gone down home. The children stayed down there. Will went to the burgh. Will & I went down there after the children.

March 13 – Saturday
Will went down home and after his grass seed. Florence stayed down all night. Will went after his medicine to the burg.

March 14 – Sunday
Orrin * I went to meeting. Ephraim brought us home. Cal & Josephine called here. Orrin & I eat dinner to Ephraims.

March 15 - Monday
Will took our butter to J. M. Clark, 28 cts. He took Father’s butter. Miller is to send it to the city. Man called here to tell Will about buying yearlings. Orrin went to school. Albert Smith come here to give new note.

March 16 - Tuesday
Will has gone to Bill E. to get drags sharpened. Peleg come here & got twenty bushel oats. Paid ten dollars. Will went to Watkins after grass seed. He went to the burgh. Orrin went to school. George Smith was here.

March 17 – Wednesday
Will went to the burg & Ephs & to home. Ephraim look at cattle. Also Warren Rose. Ellen, Ida, Frise was here. Orrin went to School. Lucian come & Brought a new note. Will went to the  burgh with him. Mrs. Munson Doud died today. [Phoebe Hayden 7253]

March 18 – Thursday
A very cold day. Will & Orrin went over home. Orrin stayed. Vaughn called here & went over there. Mr. Woodburn called to get hat & veil. Will went to the burgh with Vaughn.

March 19 – Friday
Will went over home. Orrin come back with him we all went to the burg in evening. White face bobtail come in.

March 20 – Saturday
George called here also Mr. Woodburn. Will & Orrin went over home. Mr. Porter & boy called here, also Milton Shaw. Frances & I went to the burgh in evening to an entertainment. J. G. & W. E. Edwards [See and link to clippings in Sullivan-1870s Mainesburg Items]

March 21 – Sunday
I stayed at home. Jule, Nerva & Orrin come up here.

March 22 – Monday
We washed. Will went down home. He went to the burgh in evening. Lucien come & got load hay. Frank, Clary, Charlie Tinkham, Gid Young were here.

March 23 – Tuesday
Will Florence & I went down home. Florence stayed down. Frances went to the burgh. Stayed away all night.

March 24 – Wednesday
Will went to Eph got twelve pans for Jule. He went hoe and to the burgh. Lucien got twenty bushels of oats.

March 25 – Thursday
Mrs. Doud  come here. I paid her five dollars. Will Florence & I went to Troy. Orrin stayed with his Grandpa. Ruel Bartlett, Edd Maine, Edgeton, Artemus was here. Frances moved some of her things today. Orrin Vaughn called here.

March 26 – Friday
Will went over home. Edd Maine called here, Art come got another load of things for Frances. Will went to Mill change grist.

March 27 – Saturday
Will drove calves ?ickie up here. He went to the burgh. Vaughn come up here fixed doors.

March 28 – Sunday
Quarterly meeting at Chandlersburg. {Elk Run Methodist Church] Will went to Robbins lot. We all went down home. Jule drove Frank’s horse, took me up home.

March 29 – Monday
Orrin went down home. Will went to the burgh. Father went to Arts & John Smith. Florence & I stayed alone. Cand [Canned] some berries & quince. [out of season]

March 30 – Tuesday
Will went down home. Florence & I went down to Ephraims. Orrin come home. Warren Rumsey called here. Will went to the burgh in evening.  George Dewey got load of hay.

March 31 – Wednesday
Will went over home. Frank & Will come here to dinner. They drawed stone to the burying ground [Ames Hill] Orrin went down home a little while.

April 1 – Thursday
George Dewey got oats this morning. Will & Orrin have gone over home. Will went to the burg in evening. Sanford Smith called here.  Ellen called here, then went to Olive’s.

Will went down home this morning. Jule come up here on horseback. A pleasant day.

April 5 – Monday
I washed. Levi Rumsey called here. Will worked down home. Burt come there. Orrin went down home stayed all night.

April 6 – Tuesday
Will Florence & I went down to the other place. Father stayed alone. Nancy come up home with us, stayed all night.

April 7 – Wednesday
Jule come up took Nancy to the burgh. Uncle Jasper come here today.  Will went over to the other place. We moved beds & put down carpet. Uncle Billy Richmon come here. Stayed all night.

April 8 – Thursday
Will went over on the other place to work. Uncle Billy went to Joe Dewitt’s. Lucien Doud come & got twenty bushel of oats. E. Strange called & borrowed six dollars. Will children & I went to the burg took eggs & butter. Peleg had sixty bushel of oats.

April 9 – Friday
Will  dragged some. Minister Blaine called, eat dinner here. Orrin went to the burgh & down home, stayed all night.

April 10 – Saturday
Frank come up & dragged in oats. Will sowed them. Jackson called here with some papers. Mr. Strong & Gene Parkhurst called here, brought [or bought] three heifers. Seventy five dollars. Florence went home with Frank.

April 11 – Sunday
Will & Orrin went down home. A plesant day. Will went to Warren R & to Ephraim

April 12 – Monday
Will went to Wellsboro. Frank & Bige finished dragging in oats. Orrin went down home. Father went to see Warren R.

April 13 – Tuesday
Will went down home & to the burgh. Frank come with him to sow grass seed. Father went to Art Rumseys to have the heirs meet. Lucien got load of hay.

April 14 – Wednesday
Will went down home to get the team to go to the stone quirez (quarry) to get a stone to set the Monument on. We had 8 lbs of butter from down home. Orrin went to Ephraims today. Ezekial Strange paid his borrowed money.

April 15 – Thursday
Will Jule Nancy Frank went to Troy. Tool 2 tubs butter. Austin boy come after Father to go & see mary. Will went to the burgh with him.

April 16 – Friday
Lawyer Allen & the heirs of Mothers Estate were here to settle it.  Thomas, Isaac, Jack, George, Art, John, Charlie, Lucretia and boys were here. Vaughn was here, Lida & Seymour called here. Edd Maine gone one head of cattle. Snows today.

April 17 – Saturday
Will went to the burg, took some eggs. He went down home. Florence went with him. Will & I went to Ephraims. Lucien got twenty bushes of oats today.

April 18 - Sunday
Father went to Jackson Smiths, Orrin went down home. Orison & Minerva come here today. Florence come up home with Frank.

April 19 – Monday
Father has gone to John smiths. A cold day. Snows. Frank come up & worked fixing fence. Philetus called here, stayed till after dinner.

April 20 – Tuesday
Frank come up here to draw rails, so cold he went home. George called here, took dinner. Nett Pierce called. She had been to the burgh. Westbrook brought the monument to night, stayed all night.

April 21 – Wednesday
Mr. Potter called. George Westbrook, Frank & I were here today – set the monument. Florence & I went down home. Will & Frank drawed hay from up here. Mrs. Bill E. was down home this afternoon.

April 22 – Thursday
Will & Frank drawing hay. Mr. Welch got money of Will, give his note. Florence & I went to the burg got her some Shoes.

April 23 – Friday
Will worked down home. Lawyer Allen was here and done some worting [?] for Father. Father went to Edd Maines. Mary come here stayed all night. Orrin, Hannah come here.

April 24 – Saturday
Will went to Troy took tub butter 27 cts. Art & Mr. Perry called here. Mary went away.

April 25 – Sunday
Will & Orrin went to Gene Parkhurst. Billy & Gene come after heifer. Will Orrin went to Warren’s.

April 26 – Monday
Father went to Uncle Obediah Smith, Stayed to George’s all night. Will went down to the other place, sowed oats. R. Bailey called for hay.Mr. Blaine called, took supper with Will & I. I put down carpet &c.

April 27 – Tuesday
Will went down home, sowed oats. Mr. Seeley called, also Mr. Rumsey for hay. I went to the burg. Rumsey got two load of hay. Will went to the burg, got grass seed.

April 28 – Wednesday
Will went down home. Florence & I went down there. Vaughn whitewashed for Jule. Will brought the drags up here. Orrin went to Ephraims.

April 29 – Thursday
Frank worked up here dragging. Rained at night.

April 30 – Friday
Frank worked up here. Will finished sowing oats today. Lucien got twenty bushel of oats.

May 01 – Saturday
Will went down home. Mr. Shaw got load of hay. Charles Seeley called here. Will went to the burg. Uncle Jaspers wife died [Elizabeth Hall]

May 02 – Sunday
Orrin Florence & I went to meeting. Will went to Robbins. Dennis come up here. Orrin went after Vaughn to come & shave Father. Vaughn & Ermine come up. Levi Rumsey died today.

May 03 – Monday
Jule & Frank come up here. Will Father & I went to Aunt Betsey funeral. Will went to the burg. Florence went down with Jule & Frank.

May 04 – Tuesday
Frank & Will worked here & to the Robbins lot. Orrin went to Ephs & to the burg. Levi Rumsey was buried today. Lorenzo Doud come here, hired one Hundred dollars. [CPI adjusted to $1500.]

May 05 – Wednesday
Will took cattle to the Robbins lot. Orrin & I drove the Sheep down. Warren R. got load of hay. Sam Clary worked down home. Jule went to Ephraims.

May 06 – Thursday
Will went down home. Jesse Rumsey [2 possibilites] got two load of hay. Mr. Clark called here, got two load of hay. Orrin went to Mr. Taylors.

May 07 – Friday
 Will worked over home. Orrin went over home. Joe Rumsey got load of hay. Jason Wadkins called here.

May 08 – Saturday
Will went over home. Charles Seeley got load of hay. Will went to the burg. Lenzler Shaw coome got load hay. Burt Taylor was here today. Mr. Austin & David Brown stayed all night.

May 09 – Sunday
Will & Orrin went to Robbins lot. Gene Parkhurst & John Blane called here. Orrin went to Sabbath School. Will went away today. Mr. Austin stayed all night.

May 10 – Monday
Will went down home. Freeman Shaw come after hay. Will come up to help him load hay. Omar Doud come up with him to get money. Orrin went back with them. I was sick in the night.

May 11 – Tuesday
Will went down home to work, he come up and helped Mr. Cleveland load hay. Two men from the mountain got oats here of Art Rumsey – 55 bushels. I washed.

May 12 – Wednesday
Will went down home. It rained some. Sam Clary called here.

May 13 – Thursday
Will, Sam, Porter, Bart, Frank planted corn. Florence Orrin & I went down home. Vaughn & Wesley were there. We had our Pictures framed.

May 14 – Friday
Will & I went to Troy. Took three tubs of butter, one from here, two for Jule. Got bbl Sugar

May 15 – Saturday
Will went down home. Father went to John’s to carry meat home. Uncle Jasper Smith come here eat dinner with Florence & I. John brought Father home. Will & Orrin went to the burgh.

May 16 – Sunday
Will went to Robbins lot & down home. Jack come here and went to Porter’s. Ellen come up with Orrin we went to the burying ground. Jerolaman brought Lydia up here. Uncle Billy called here.

May 17 – Monday
Sam Clary laid stone. Will helped. He went on Robbins lot. Orrin went to school. Marinda Aldridge [Aldrich] is teacher. Seeley Johns died.

May 18 – Tuesday
Will Sam laid stone. Frank drawed stone. Florence went home with Frank.

May 19 – Wednesday
Will laid stone. Sam Clary half day. Frank Jule & Florence come up here in afternoon. Minister called here. Mr Burgess stayed all night.

May 20 – Thursday
Will Frank & Sam are laying stone. Sam come at nine o’clock. Frank, Clary come and got fifty cts in cash. Charles Seeley got load of hay. Pays for it next Fall.

May 21 – Friday

The Wagon and roads and stone wall would have been just the same as Rosina & Will drove in and rode in.
They no doubt travelled this same road daily on the way to and from "the burg."

Will 7 Cline husked corn. Albert plowed.

We all wet down home today. The men husked corn. Albert plowed. Father went down there.

Will went down. Albert come up here. Florence & I went down with him. Cline husked. Albert & Jule were married. John & Ellen, Elder VanKirk were there. Jule, Albert went to Orrin’s to stay all night.

Father went to John Smiths. Will & Cline husked corn. I went to the burg. Mrs. Ames & Melissa were here. Orrin Ellen Lydia called here.

Oct 23 – Saturday
Will & Cline husked corn. Bell come here brought Florence dress home. Will went to the burgh at night.

John & Lefa, Victor  come over here today. Will & I went down home at night to do the chores. Cal, Josephine called out doors. Jule, Albert got home tonight.
 

In 1875  Will's brother Jonathan Smith and his wife Lepha McConnell lived on the NorthWest corner with their son Victor and other children. This is the intersection of Seymour Hill Road and Ritz Road/Gardener Hollow. In later years Victor lived here and the name of the intersection, Vic's Corners, was from him. No buildings remain. I finished my quilt. Will went to the burgh down home. Cline did not work today. It snowed.

Will, Florence went to the burg & down home. I went down home. Cline Husked. Albert plowed. A. J. Smith borrowed Brass Kettle.

Will, Cline & Father Husked Corn. I took up carpet, went to the burg, got mop. Florence stayed alone. Albert plowed.

Will went down home & to the burg. Lorenzo Doud took up one note. One Hundred on Judgement. Jackson called brought home Kettle.

Will & Florence went down home. It Snows. Will went to Miltons & Dewitts. I stayed at home to day.

Will went down home & to the burg, got Harness fixed. I made Father some Pants.

Will went down got team drawed wood. Rix called got plank. Charlie [14791] come up here. Father gave him Present for Name [one Hundred dollars note].  Father & Will went to Election. Will went away at night.

Will worked down home. I washed today. Albert worked today.

Nov 04 – will worked down home. Albert plowed. Florence & I went to Mary Taylor.

Will worked down home. Rix helped him. Albert plowed. I went down home a few minutes. Elmer Welch School was out today. Ellen came up. We went to Seymours & Seelys.

Will worked down home. Rix & Albert worked. Father went to Johns. He brought him home to borrow some money. Will, Orrin & Rix went to the burgh in evening.

Will worked down home drawed up load of corn. Lewis Pierce & Henry come here to get wood to chopp.

Will Orrin went down home got boards. I washed widows. Will went to bed. Father come home today.

Lewis & Henry are chopping wood. Will Orrin have gone to Troy got Suit clothes. Paid his debt to Troy.

Will drawed wood from Robbins lot. Ermina come up here. We rode to the corners, went down home a little while. Albert plowed.

Will drawed wood. Lewis & Hart cut wood. Will paid them at night Six dollars. It rained. Albert worked half day.

Will worked down home killed sheep. I sewed made Will Shirt, tablecloths. Cline come here, stayed all night.

Cline went away. Will plowed on Robbins lot. Father went to Johns. I washed some. Mr. Miller called to buy apples.

Will plowed down home. I went down. Stayed little while. Called to Clark’s. Orrin went to Ephs. Father went to Isaac. Mr. Horton had load of hay. Will went to the burg. Mr. Austin came here stayed all night.

Rained today. Mr. Austin was here today and night. I sewed some. Orrin went down home. Stayed all night. Will went to Mansfield to get Buildings Insured.
