Say Hello to Joyce
The West is populated with people whose ancestors started life here in our three county area. We hear from them every day,  and this section of the site is dedicated to those people who started life here and then left for "greener pastures." . Please send your articles in word processing format and photos in HIGH resolution JPG format. As our first article in this section of the site demonstrates, a good source for such information are the many County Histories of the western states many of our emigrants moved to. As with all nineteenth century histories, they will be mostly about men, but it can be your addition to our body of knowledge to add the information about our emigrant women to those articles. Be sure to include the year the person(s) left the area if you can.

Re: Ancestors in 1860 Clymer, Tioga County, PA
I stumbled across your wonderful website while doing a Google search for new online materials in your area.  My gggrandparents, Henry and Sarah (Sally Honniger) Smith and their children were on the 1860 census there.  They later moved to Wisconsin and were on the Bloomer, Chippewa County, Wisconsin census in 1870.  One of their daughters, Ellen (Helen?) married William Scutt (Scott) while still in Pennsylvania--their first child, Pearle W. Scutt was born there.  They also moved to Wisconsin, where 2 daughters were born.  Henry & Sally's  daughter Martha also moved to Wisconsin  where she married and spent the rest of her life there.  Henry Smith died at Bloomer,. WI sometime after 1870.  His wife and son Lafayette were on the 1880 Bloomer, Chippewa County, WI census.  Sally moved to Rice Lake, Barron County, WI sometime after that (her son, Calvin Smith and her daughter Martha lived in the same general area with their families..  Sarah (Sally) died at Rice Lake, Barron  County, WI on 06 Nov 1895.  I am still seeking information on the family before they left Pennsylvania.  According to family stories, the Smith family went West to Wisconsin in a wagon train which included 13 families in all.  They first settled at Cartwright in Chippewa County, WI
I have added this site to my favorites because I plan to visit it often.  Thank you so much for the wonderful materials!
(my paternal grandmother was Mary C. Smith Nichols.  She married my grandfather, Charles H. Nichols at Bloomer, WI in 1883.
