Josiah was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Covington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Albert Oldroyd proposes that Josiah may be one of the unidentifed sons, born between 1805 and 1810, of Jonathan based on the following: He is in Rutland Township census in 1830 and in Columbia Township in 1840 and 1850 where he is described as a laborer born in Connecticut. "Josiah Wood is the last person enumerated in the 1830 census for Rutland Township. Jonathan Wood was the first person enumerated in the 1830 census for Sullivan Township. Both censuses were done by the same person - Philip Taylor. I think Josiah Wood lived next to Jonathan Wood - just across the township line from each other." This family was no longer present in Columbia in 1860. Josiah and Miriam were next door to her parents in 1850. As noted by Albert Oldroyd, if Miriam's birthdate is correct, she may be a second wife of Josiah as she is too young to be mother to the oldest children.
