Olive, as Andrew B. W. Squires's wife, resided with him in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1908.(33) Farmer, Mansfield PO - Seymour Hill Road

Andrew was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. 55 year old Charity "Squires" listed here is probably Charity Bosard, alias Charity "Smith", stepmother of the woman Andrew later married in 1872 and also stepmother to his first wife, Lydia Smith, who died this same year (1870).

Andrew was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He resided in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1908.(34) Farmer, Mansfield PO - Seymour Hill Road My father remembers "Old Mr. Squires" as a very old man when he was a small child. Andrew lived in the old house next to where the Brewster place still remains. This would be the northern part of the road now called Seymour Hill that goes from Mainesburg to Ashley Hill Road in the more northern part of the township. The skeleton of the house burned in the 1960s and then someone removed the pine trees that had always stood beside it. The property belonged for many years to the Yorks who inherited it from Andrew. It was more recently purchased by Nellie SMITH and Dub SHAW who still grow corn on it. Andrew lost both his wives and both of his children in early deaths. His wives were half sisters. He became very close to Bird York, a much younger cousin, who had been involved in the accident that killed Andrew's son. Rather than being bitter about it as he might have been, he took the boy under his wing and treated him with the same love he had given his own children.

Andrew B. W. Squires and Lydia Smith had the following children:

child 27 i.Cora3 Squires (#3240) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1866. Cora died 1877 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 11. Her body was interred 1877 in Gray Valley Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

child 28 ii.Joshua J. Squires (#3241) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1868. Individual flags: Newspaper. Joshua died 28 MAY 1879 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 10. His body was interred JUN 1878 in Gray Valley Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Joshua was shot in a play accident by his friend and cousin Bird York. The boys were playing with an old military gun in the York barn. They had been in the habit of pretending to shoot each other regulary. This time, the gun, which apparently had been loaded all along, discharged, killing the Squires boy. Ralph York, interviewed June 26, 1993 said his father never told them about the accident. He did not know it until his uncle told him after his father's death. Following the death of Joshua, his father, Andrew, took Bird "under his wing" treating him as a son and even leaving his property to him in his will. Mansfield Advertiser 28th May 1879: Died Joshua Squire Elk Run on Monday age 12, son of Andrew was shot.
