Both of the cards shown on this page were sent by Charles Stanton to
his future wife from overseas. Both were provided by the military to its
soldiers to send a quick note home when time to write was short. The lower
one gave a limited menu of choices of comments and the soldier crossed
off all that were not applicable. Nothing else was permitted on the cards,
no personal note at all. I find myself quite amused by the lower card with
its limited and canned options.
