Peppers Anyone? If you're in the area stop in and pick peppers. I usually have such low yield, I planted dozens and dozens and dozens of them, and this is what they've done this year. These Yellow Hungarians are a bit too hot for the dog to eat, so maybe it has cured her of stealing my peppers.

22 SEP SEPTEMBER 2007: For our September 22, 2007 meeting we will have a speaker, who will be offering about a one- hour talk on Civil War Veterans from our Town.  This is sure to be a good program and of interest to anyone who enjoys history - so everyone is invited to attend.  This program will take the place of our  regular meeting.  The program will begin at 1pm at the Veteran Grange.  The public is invited.
Do you have an ancestor who lived in the Town of Veteran and who fought in the Civil War?  If you have a photo of him would you be willing to share a copy of it for this meeting?  We are attempting to gather as many photos of Civil War Veterans from the Town of Veteran as we can.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Remember that the site is arranged PRIMARILY around the Eighty Township Pages, and they all link from the sidebar at the right of the page. Subject areas link both from the sidebar at the left and from the icons below. My mail tells me that many long time site guests are very unaware of many of its special features. Open every window so you don't miss any.
The Susquehanna River Archaeological Center (SRAC)is sponsoring a presentation by Ted Keir and Deb Twigg, Sunday September 23rd at 3 pm at the the Waverly Opera House in Waverly, NY.
Ted Keir and Deb Twigg are both board members of the Susquehanna River Archaeological Center of Native Indian Studies (SRAC) which is dedicated to education, research and preservation of the region's Native American archaeological, cultural and historical assets for the communities within the Twin Tier Region of Southeastern NY and Northeastern PA. They both have been dedicated to building community awareness concerning Spanish Hill and our local prehistory.
At 3pm, Twigg will give a 1 hour presentation concerning the her ongoing research on Spanish Hill and Keir will be on hand displaying actual artifacts found at Spanish Hill and the surrounding area. This presentation is great for young and old alike and is free to the public to attend.
Twigg will also offer a book signing for her new book, "Spanish Hill Revisited" which is a follow-up to her "Carantouan" booklet and 2005 article in the Pennsylvania Archaeologist on Spanish Hill.
Donations will be accepted and will go to support SRAC and their new building on Broad Street Waverly, NY.

See  Also PARTITIONED search engine to search just sections of the site. -- Below
Use the Drop Down Windowto search selected areas of site for Obituaries and other slected information
These represent directories in the site's structure. Clipping section includes scrapbooks of obituaries, marriages, gossip, etc. It also includes new obits where the cemetery is not identified. The Obit by cemetery pages are by county BUT obits may be on an obit by cemetery page OR in the Clipping - scrapbook section. Check both. Also remember that people are often buried in a different county than the one in which they lived or died. Another point to be aware of is that some of the very small cemeteries that have few obits will have the obits on the cemetery listing page. They will be missed by this partitioned search of just the obituary directories. They will show up on the search which covers the entire site or the burials.
If you do not click the drop down list, you will think this is just the same form of the search engine we have had for several years. It is NOT - It is a major enhancement of its utility which I will develop further depending on positive feedback I do or do not get. At this point it partitions the obituaries and cemetery listings only. While obits are added daily, the search engine in not reindexed that frequently. Added obituaries will only register when the search engine is reindexed.
Here is an IMPORTANT tip - If you use a DATE restriction in your search, be aware that refers to the date I last changed a particular page - It is a file date, NOT a date for an event.
