Ralph Age 91, of Elmira, New York, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2005, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Reverend Walter Wainwright officiating. Interment will take place on Friday, July 29th at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the 6th floor staff at the Chemung Nursing Facility and Cindy Evans for all the care and compassion given to Ralph at his time of need.

KAMP James W.
Passed away unexpectedly at Schuyler Hospital on Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008. James was born on September 6, 1934. He is survived by his sister, Jane French of Horseheads, NY; nephew, Larry (Lori) French of NC; nieces, Sue (Ed) O'Bryan of MD, Lisa (Chris) Ginger of SC, Amy (Jim) Dobell of Horseheads, NY; grandnephews and nieces, Jeremy, Kristen, Stephanie of NC, and Katie and Kenny of MD. James lived at his cottage in the summer months on Seneca Lake since 1977 and in Melbourne, FL in the winter. James served his country with the US Army during the years 1957 - 1963. He worked for Xerox in Rochester, NY for 20 plus years and retired to enjoy playing golf and fishing. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., Horseheads, NY, on Saturday, June 14, 2008, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. James' Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of hours with Pastor David Sullivan. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park immediately following. The family will provide their own flowers. KEENER Edith A. BOWMAN, 67, of Elmira, NY, died May 31, 1995 at home after an extended illness.  She was born September 5, 1927 in Elmira to Charles and Alice Keener.  She is survived by her children, Rose (Ray) Spearman of Wellsburg, NY, George (Mary Jo) Bowman of Elmira, Susan Bowman of Elmira, Barbar Birdsall of Zion, IL, Mary (John) Dickens of Littleton, CO, Linda Elliott (fiancé, Jim Earley) of Gillett, PA, Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy, Jim “Dee” (Ellen) Bowman of CA, Harold Bowman of Elmira; sister, Rose Mary Cox of Wellsburg, NY; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many special friends.  She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Bowman.  Funeral services were held at the Barrett Funeral Home June 2 with the Rev. Larry Parker officiating and interment to be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

GERALD C. KELLEY
 Gerald C. Kelly, 61, of Lowman, NY, died Sunday, December 13, 1992 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. He is survived by his wife, Dawn L. Kelley; daughter and son-in-law, Kay Sandra and Frank Buchanan; daughter, Nancy Lee Kelley of Elmira, NY; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald Thomas and Elaine Kelley of Greensboro, NC, David and Helen Kelley of Sayre, PA and Darrin and Kathleen Kelley of Elmira, NY; three grandchildren that he raised and 15 very special grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Jessie Bryington of Canton, PA and Betty Austin of Fassett, PA; brothers, Milan Kelley of Lowman, NY and Wayne Kelley of Elmira Heights. Funeral and committal services were held at the Olthof Funeral Home in Elmira on December 16 with the Rev. William Norton officiating and interment to be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. RICHARD T. ‘DICK’ KELLEY, SR. age 72, went home to the Lord Thursday, July 7, 2005, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  He was born August 30th, 1932, to the late Hulbert and Edith (Soffe) Kelley.  He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Barbara; adoring children, Debbie (Mark) Sebura of Arkport, NY, Sherry (Bill) Spotts of Horseheads, Kathy (Don) Newson of Delaware, Richard Jr., (Brenda) of Elmira Heights, Barbie Dobson and companion, Clayton of Corning, NY, Heather (Doug) Griswold of CT; grandchildren, Jody (Larry) Butts, Nathan (Kristen) and Jonas Sebura, Beau Spotts, Cheri Newson, Ricky, Katy, Zachary, Megan and Jacob Kelley, Jennifer (Sean) Monroe, Nicholas and Alyssa Piersimoni, Brittany Kelley, Cody, Mary and Hannah Griswold; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Lucas Monroe.  He is also survived by the most wonderful and loving mother-in-law, Leona Kline, who loved nothing better than to spoil her son-in-law with weekly homemade goodies.  Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernard (Carol) Kline, Beverly (Bill) Bigg, Pat (Ed) Sassano, Carol (Ron) Mills, Tom (Stephanie) Kline, Pete Miller.  He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Batterson, Jane Miller and Doris Kelley.  He was a devoted husband and was “The Best Dad in the Whole World.”  Nothing brought him more pleasure than his devoted and loving family.  He loved his shop and all his friends at the Windmill.  He was passionate about the Yankees and loved hunting and fishing and spending time at the cabin in the Poconos.  He had a quiet, calm and gentle spirit but also had an enormous wit and great sense of humor.  We were greatly blessed to have him as a husband and father and he will be forever missed.  A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Arnot Ogden and the Faulk Cancer Center that took such loving care of our father, especially to Karyn and Dr. Byland and staff.  Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. KELLOGG Jack W. Sr.
Of Southport at the age 43 passed away Sunday morning, December 2, 2007 at the home of his mother, under her loving care. Jack was born on August 27, 1964 in Troy, PA son of Donald & Helen Watts Kellogg. Before his illness, Jack was employed by General Revenue and Finance Corp. in Big Flats. His many interests included NASCAR and Fishing. Jack enjoyed watching the Jacksonville Jaguars football games but his greatest joy was time spent with his mother and children who survive. Helen Watts Kellogg Gradwohl, Southport; children, Jack "Jay Jay" Kellogg; Jr. Ruth Kellogg and Steven Kellogg; aunts, Virginia (Kenneth) Bush; Betty (Stanley) Harris; Martha Wilgosz; and Gail Watts; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many family friends. Jack was predeceased by his father, Donald Kellogg; his paternal grandparents, Fred & Helen Kellogg and his maternal grandparents, Ruth & John Watts and his aunt, Dorothy Evans. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 from 1 - 2 p.m. funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at his families convenience.

KELLY - GARDINER
Lulu (Kelly) Passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at the age of 80, unexpectedly while at St. Joseph's Hospital. Survived by her daughter, Veronica (Roni) Loudenslager; sons, Gerald (Peggy) Lewis and Samuel (Roxanne) Lewis. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Lulu was predeceased by her son-in-law, Joseph Loudenslager Sr. She loved to play yahtzee and cards with family and friends. She enjoyed talking about the good ole days and she would make us laugh with her funny ways, comments and expressions. You will be missed Mom/Gram. ELWOOD L. ‘DUTCH’ KELTZ, 86, of Elmira, NY, died Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at the Arnot Ogden Medical center.  He was a World War II US Navy veteran, a Railway express clerk and a retired Elmira Postal worker.  Dutch was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist Church and Canton Masonic Lodge #415.  He is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Keltz of Horseheads, NY, and several loving nieces and nephews.  Dutch was predeceased by his loving wife, Hazel McDonald Keltz; three brothers, Charles Keltz, Harold “Pete” Keltz and Albert Keltz.  Family and friends are invited to call at the Oltof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Thursday, October 19, 1998 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held there Friday, October 2 at 10 a.m. Pastor William Vallet will officiate.  Graveside services will follow the funeral services at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorials in Dutch’s name to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church or the Chemung County chapter of the SPCA, or to the charity of one’s choice.  –Canton Independent Sentinel.

KENNEDY - PACKER, Ruth W., Town of Southport, Resident, Was born May 1, 1918 in Sarepta, LA, the daughter of the late Homer K. and Mary (Starke) Kennedy passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the age of 89. Her loving husband of 40 years, Ronald D. Packer in 1983; daughter, Nancy Packer in 2006; and sister, Evelyn Kennedy Whitmire predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Vicki Ruth Packer-Kosthorst of Elmira, NY, Pamela J. (Lawrence A.) Kamp of Meigs, GA; much-loved grandsons, Ronald (Kimberly) Kamp, Graydon Kamp; adored great-grandson, Bradley Kamp; sisters, Eunice Ray Shreveport, LA, Mary (Damon) New of Sulphur, LA, Marguerite Hoyle of Sulphur, LA, Sally (William) Bruno of Shreveport, LA; along with several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a faithful member of the Lake Street Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and will be dearly missed. Loving mother and grandmother
Age 74, of Elmira, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Her husband, James R. Sullivan, on December 31, 2006, predeceased Mary. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth J. Sullivan (Michael Dinkins) of Elmira, NY, Patrick M. (Jeanette) Sullivan of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara S. (Anthony) Cappucci of Elmira, NY, and Nancy A. German (Craig Mosher) of Pine Valley, NY; grandchildren, James Patrick, Erin, Ashlyn, Adam, Dominic, Kaitlyn, Jack, Samantha and Garrison; sisters, Ruth Gleason and Sally Ellison; brother, David Kester; also several nieces and nephews. Mary loved her children and grandchildren and truly enjoyed watching the grandchildren at their sporting events. She also enjoyed many summers at Kueka Lake. June is survived by her children, David (Mary Ellen) Vandegrift of Lowman, and Richard (Stella) Vandegrift of Kissimmee, FL; daughters, Barbara Hrasdzira of Nashville, TN, and Carolyn Vandegrift of Elmira; brother, Albert Kiederling of Elmira; sister, Mildred Dyer of FL; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Linda Solar of Elmira. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 27th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Albert J. of Horseheads, NY Age 90, died Monday, July 3, 2000 at Manor. Albert is survived by his daughter Rhoda (Michael) Huston of Corning, 4 grand children; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy Ignatius of Ohio and Florence (Forest) Johnson of Ohio. Albert was  predeceased by his loving wife, Ina M. (McNelly) Kiefel in 1996 and his sister Helen Flynn. He was retired from Royal McBee Company, Hartford, Conn. It was  Albert's wish that there be no calling hours a Private Funeral Service will be at the convenience of the family. KIFF –HELEN LOUISE STRAUSS, age 89, Aug. 28, 1998 formerly of Marshall Street in Horseheads.  Friends are invited to call at the Smith-Fudge-Marshall Funeral Home, Tuesday 11:00-11:30 a.m.  A funeral service will be conducted there following calling hours at 11:30 a.m., by her son, The Rev. A. Strauss in 1994; brother, Donald H. Kiff in 1996; parents, Delos & Lucy C. Kiff; daughter, Donna Lou Strauss.  Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law; A. KING Christian E. Age 31 of Pine Valley, NY passed away very unexpectedly on Thursday November 30, 2006. Christian was born September 17, 1975 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He loved fishing, boating, skateboarding, and basketball. Most of all Christian loved his family and friends and treasured every moment he spent with them and enjoying life. Christian was a salesman at Simmons-Rockwell in Big Flats, NY. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by all who were touched by his love and compassion. Christian was pre-deceased by his grandmother, Lois E. Dillinger Cooper, who passed away on September 13, 2005 and by his grandfather Richard McClland. Christian is survived by his mother Barbara Campbell of Elmira, NY; father and step-mother Jerry & Jan Mould of Tacoma, WA; brother: Matthew Mould and his children Zachary Allan Mould and Hannah Nicole Mould of Elmira, NY; grandmother: Arlene McClland of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandfather: Richard L. Cooper of Elmira, NY; his fiancée Christy Mattoon and her children Alec Mattoon and David Mattoon of Pine Valley, NY; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends including special uncles Thomas Lockwood, Ronald McClland, Scott McClland, and Thomas McClland. KISER - WALKER Beverly J. (Kiser)
Age 72, of Elmira. Beverly was born Sept. 8, 1935 in Elmira, NY, to the late Fred and Flora (Moresman) Kiser, and passed away after an extended illness on Tues., Dec. 11, 2007. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Walker; daughter, Carol Griffin; brother, Donald Kiser; and sister, Margaret Bennett. Her surviving family includes her daughters and sons, John (Marsha) Walker of Millport, Daniel (Sharon) Walker of Wellsburg, Jo-Ellen Briggs of Wellsburg, David (Tina) Walker of Elmira, Thomas (Deborah) Walker of Lowman; sisters, Joyce Weideman and Geraldine Pelchy, both of Horseheads, and William (Jackie) Kiser of Elmira; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Beverly was a longtime certified Nurses Aide, working in the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. KLINE STEWARD A.
Steward A. Kline, 80, of Catlin Hill Road, Beaver Dams, N.Y., died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1987, at his home. He was a retired employee of American LaFrance Company and a member of Jehovah Witnesses. Surviving are his wife, Mary; two Sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Doris Kline of Horseheads, N.Y. and Ronald and Marilyn Kline of Grays Lake, Ill; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Young of Horseheads; three sisters, Anna Stumpff of Pine Valley, N.Y., Geraldine and Edna Straub of Middlebury Center; four brothers, Randall of Erin, N.Y., Reubin of Horseheads, Clifford of McClure, Fred of Beavertown; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held today, Oct. 7, at the Ballard and Lindgren Funeral Home.

KNICKERBOCKER Harry C.
A longtime Southside resident passed away peacefully in his home in the care of his loving family and Southern Tier Hospice on Saturday morning, October 18, 2008 at the age of 87. Born on June 23, 1921 in Bradford, NY, Harry was the son of the late Henry & Belle Meade Knickerbocker. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his brother, Lauren. Harry was employed by Hardinge Bros. Corp. for many years until his retirement. His interests included fishing and hunting. Harry enjoyed working around his home, maintained a meticulous lawn, was a woodworker who made very detailed doll houses and is remembered as a loving and supportive family man. In serving his country he was a WWII Navy Veteran who survived Pearl Harbor and was also member of the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154, Elmira Heights. Surviving is his beloved family, wife and companion of 27 years, Virginia Smith Knickerbocker; Harry's children, Michael (Sarah) Knickerbocker, Colchester, CT; Sandra Jean (James) Langstine, Punta Gorda, FL; Howard (Sue) Knickerbocker, Elmira; Scott (Celeste) Knickerbocker, Pine City; seven stepchildren, a sister-in-law, Cecil Knickerbocker, Caledonia, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family friends who will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 between the hours of 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. with the Reverend William Vallet officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be accorded Mr. Knickerbocker. Harry's family wishes to acknowledge and thank Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning, Rd. KRAMER - LYMAN
Barbara Kramer Of Pine City, NY, cherished by her family and many friends, she died Thursday March 10, 2005, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Francis Lyman; son, Craig Lyman; a grandson, Shane Buzzetti; a sister, Dania Brinthaupt; honorary daughters, Kathy Frisk and Leila Tchulukhadze; an honorary granddaughter, Julie Clearwater; an honorary great-grandson, Lewis Clearwater all of Elmira, NY. She also leaves many in-laws, nieces and nephews. A son, Burt Lyman, predeceased her. Barb was retired from the Chemung County Department of Social Services and was a graduate of EFA and Elmira College. In her retirement she was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Elmira Garden Club, senior citizens painting program at Chapel Park, in short any activity that would allow her to interact with the things she loved most, people and nature. She will be sorely missed by the many, whose lives she touched. Uh-Oh!! Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 304 North Main St., Elmira, followed by graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. KRAMER - SCHICHTEL, Kathleen M.

Alice was born in Elmira, daughter of the late Robert and Louise (Miller) Krebs. Survivors include daughters, Joan Stoquert of Sayre, PA, and Dolores (Russ) Wilcox of Elmira Heights, NY; sister, Marjorie (Lenny) Gray; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Adelbert in 1991; sisters, Madeline Krebs and Eleanor Miller; brother, Robert Krebs. Alice enjoyed the outdoors especially camping with her family. KRUM   Harvey Formerly of 604 Moreland Ave. Elmira went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, February 18, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility where he had been residing at the age of 95. Harvey was born in Neversink, NY beloved son of Benjamin & Elvira Krum. Surviving is his loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & William Wigsten, Millerton, PA; granddaughters, Robin (Wayne) Niles, Horseheads; Kimberly (Rich) Pettitt, Canisteo; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a sister, Florence Peterson, NJ. He was predeceased by his loving wife and devoted friend of 55 years, Frances Marjorie Freer Krum in 1992 also predeceasing Harvey were his 7 brothers, Millard, Everett, Harold, Leslie, Benjamin, George and William; and 6 sisters, Edna Alice, Helen, Lillian, Irene and Bertha. He retired from the Remington Rand after many years of service. Harvey loved to hunt, was a devoted fisherman on Keuka Lake and enjoyed his lovely grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edith F. (Krumloff) Age 77, of Maplehurst Park in Horseheads, passed away after a brief illness Monday, May 30, 2005, at home surrounded by her family. Edith was born Oct. 5, 1927 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Earl and Frances (Morgan) Krumloff and raised on the family farm and what is currently the land occupied by Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Loop with whom she married Feb. 28, 1948. Her family also include her sister and brother-in-law, June and Jack Whitaker of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and special neighbors. Edye was a member of Women's Auxiliary of the First United Church of Christ in Elmira. She also worked in housekeeping at both St. Joseph's' Hospital and Elcor Nursing Facility. LEWIS –VERONICA L. ‘RONI’ LOUDENSLAGER - Former Manager of Gino's Pizzeria on College Ave. Age 60, of 669 Park Place, Elmira went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2002 after a brave battle with lung cancer.  She was born on December 9, 1941 in Elmira, NY to the late Gerald and Lulu (Kelley) Lewis.  Roni was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Loudenslager and her step-daughter, Gloria Loudenslager.  She will be greatly missed by her children, Brenda, Teshia and Russell Miller, Tammy (Bruce Bush) Sullivan, West (Lisa Weideman) Loudenslager, Donna and Larry Loudenslager, Tammy (Colby) Bellows, Joseph (Tina) Loudenslager; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Age 88, of Westfield, PA, was born September 18, 1918 in Knoxville, PA, the son of the late Romer and Frances Lincoln. Passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Robert is predeceased by his loving wife, Annabelle, who passed away November 17th, 2004 and his granddaughter, Heather Allen. He is survived by his sons, Richard L. (Sally) Lincoln of Pine City, NY, L. Dean (Vicki) Lincoln of PA, Bruce (Carol) Lincoln of Elmira, NY, Earl Lincoln of Clifton Springs, NY, Robert Lincoln, Jr. of Elmira, NY; daughter-in-law, Susan Lincoln of Clifton Springs, NY; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Robert was retired from Swift Glass. He was a proud Army veteran during the European Theater of World War II. After his retirement Robert and Annabelle loved attending major league baseball games up and down the east coast. Hilda was born June 1, 1938 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Fred and Gladys Bertha Jayne Lisk Jr. She married her husband, Dale Barnes Locke, on June 20, 1958 and they recently celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary on June 20, 2007. Hilda loved crocheting and above all she loved her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with them. She was pre-deceased by her parents and by her son Charles F. Locke who passed away on January 17, 1959. She was born December 16, 1918 in Meshoppen, PA, the daughter of Arthur and Virginia Northrup Loomis. She married James W. Grover on November 24, 1935 in Elmira. He predeceased her on January 31, 1999. She was a former employee at Eclipse in Elmira Heights and attended Oakwood United Methodist Church. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sandra Grover of Horseheads, NY; a daughter, Virginia Gross of Hopewell, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Allyn Grist of Horseheads, NY; a sister, Marjorie Campbell of Elmira, NY; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. LORENSON Charles A. A longtime resident of the South Creek Community, Wellsburg, NY passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 29, 2007 under the care of the Chemung County Nursing Facility at the age of 81. Born on November 29, 1925 in Erdenheim, PA, son of Charles P. & Sarah Woodley Lorenson. He married Edna Louise Warren on May 11, 1946 in Alba, PA. A WWII Navy Veteran, Charlie served his county during WWII. A hard working gentleman, Charlie was employed by Thatcher Glass, Elmira Heights for 25 years. An outdoorsmen, his many interest included hunting, walking his land and especially being with his family. He was a charter member of the South Creek Evangelical Church and worshipped there for many years. LOWMAN James L. Devoted husband, father and grandfather Age 70 of Elmira, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Robert Packer Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Elmira, a son of the late Lyman Lowman and Adeline Lowman Cartarius. He was preceded in death by brothers George and Lester Lowman. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis Hughes Lowman; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle E. and Bruce Kelly, Melanie R. Lowman, Marlene M. and Robert Giammichele all of Elmira; grandchildren, Jamie, Jillian, Jess, and Nathan; great granddaughter Hannah; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Muriel Lowman of Cocoa FL and Lewis Lowman of Portsmouth VA; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Frank Barilla of Oswego NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Hughes, Eldon and Maggie Hughes all of Elmira, Glenora Gunderman of Wellsburg NY, Harriet Elston, Shirley and Gerald May, Janice Isaacs all of North Chemung NY, Beverly and Edgar Harland of Chapel Hill NC, Marilyn and Tom Karski of Elmira; also surviving are many very special nieces, nephews and a host of good friends. Jim was a 1954 graduate of Southside High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army. Several years after leaving the Army Jim joined the Army Reserve before switching to the Navy Reserve. At the age of 60 Jim retired from his military career with 20 years total service. Jim was a graduate of Corning Community College and he was the first editor of the school newspaper. He was a longtime journalist with the Elmira Star Gazette holding several positions with the newspaper. He retired from the Star Gazette in 1994 with 32 years of service. With his retirements from the military and the newspaper behind him Jim started a third career when he was elected as the 13th District Chemung County Legislator in 1994. That position led him to serve his community on several other community boards. Jim was the current chairman of the Chemung County Health and Human Services Committee. He was a member of Southside Alliance Christian & Missionary Church. Jim cared deeply about his faith and was involved with many local Christian ministries. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to golf, hunt, and especially enjoyed the time he could spend with his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the Whitetail Buck Hunters Association. Well known for his cooking, Jim was famous for feeding large crowds and for his homemade pizza parties. Friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. MALCOLM - MINCHIN Mary Ellen
Age 87, of Elmira, died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Mary Ellen was born April 17, 1920, the daughter of James and Mary DeGory Malcolm. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Minchin, Jr. and son, James Minchin. Mary Ellen is survived by her children, with their families, Barbara J. Goldsmith of Tampa, FL with children, James, Marilyn, Ellie and Joseph; Mary Catherine "Tina" and Joseph Munn of Elmira with children, Jill (Paul) Mertus, Danielle (Chris) Webb, Geoffrey (Melanie) Munn; Brian M. and Patti Minchin of Elmira, with children, Susan, Stacey, Stephanie, Kevin, and Kyle; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Minchin of Elmira; and niece, Jackie (Warren) Minchin-Conklin. Mary Ellen graduated from nursing school in Washington D.C. and worked for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital. MANCHESTER –ALICE MANCHESTER BELLOWS formerly of Elmira, NY, age 99 passed away on December 19, 2003 in Huntsville, AL.  She was born on September 13, 1904 the daughter of the late Harry and Winifred Terwilliger Manchester.  Alice was predeceased by her husband, Sniffen K. Bellows; and son, Harry R. Bellows.  She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nola Eiser of Huntsville, AL; and several nieces and nephews.  Frank R. (Hank) Marshall, 59, of Elmira, NY died Thursday, February 20, 1992. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Elmira and was a musician for many years with his own band, Hank Marshall and the Drifters. He is survived by son, Francis Hank Marshall, Corning, NY; daughters, Kathryn Marshall Gleason of Elmira and Patricia L. Marshall of Elmira; step-daughter, Patty Marshall also of Elmira; brothers, John Marshall of Columbia Cross Roads, PA and Charles Marshall of El Paso, TX; eight sisters; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. MATTHEWS Francis "Franny" A resident of Linden Place, Elmira passed away Thursday evening June 1, 2006 at his home with his loving family by his side at the age of 76. Born March 27, 1930 Francis was the son of Robert O. & Novilla G. Fenton Matthews. Mr. Matthews served in the United States Army. He was employed as a truck driver most of his life having retired from Shulman's. Franny enjoyed fishing, golfing, family time and is remembered for his sense of humor. He was predeceased by his brother, Earl T. Maynard, Jr.; and his beloved dog, Bear-Bear. MCCABE CLARK.  A longtime resident of Milton St. on Elmira's Southside passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 7, 2003, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospital, following an illness at the age of 85. Born in Rome, PA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Parks McCabe. She married the love of her life, Ralph Clark on December 21, 1942 here in Elmira and they have enjoyed the last 60 years of marriage together, caring for their home and raising their family. Dorothy's interests included crafts, crocheting and making her home a comfortable place for welcomed visitors. Her loving family includes her husband and friend, Ralph Clark; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Wendy Smith Clark, Belair, MD, Edward and Rita Ahern Clark, Herndon, VA; sisters, Sarah "Sally" and Julius DiGiacmo, Bellmawr, NJ, Imogene "Jean" and Donald Howell, Nichols; grandchildren, Laurie and Emily Clark; nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors. Francis C. Age 75, of 562 Cypress St., Elmira, NY. He was born March 16, 1931 in Elmira, son of the late Edward and Edna (Lindsey) McCann and passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Fran was predeceased by his wife Mary; companion of 33 years, Audrey Edger on August 20, 2005; and is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carmella and Ronald Hoffman of Odessa and their children Nicole, Christina, Val and Jeremy. Fran retired from NYSEG. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Korea aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarama and was a member of the American Legion Post 1612, Big Flats. Mildred "Sally" Age 94, of Elmira NY died, Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Sally was the daughter of Harry Thompson and Melvina Thompson McCann. She was preceded in death by her sister Ina Converse, brother William McCann and her "bingo friend" Bill Hovencamp. Sally is survived by extended family and good friends. She was a long time employee of the Shamrock Grill located on the corner of Lake and East Water Sts. Sally later worked at Leo's Bar that was also located on Lake St. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing at different bingo halls in the area.  Jean E. Halsey, 69, of Gillett RR 2, PA, died Saturday, February 5, 1994 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Jean was a member of Southport Baptist Church.  She was predeceased by her husband, Menzo D. Halsey in 1992. She is survived by daughter, Sharon Foster of Troy, PA; son, Jack Butcher of Buffalo, NY; grandchildren, Shelly and David Foster; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jenny Culver of Gillett, PA, Mrs. Anna McConnell of Avis, PA and Pat McConnell of NY; several nieces and nephews. McDERMOTT – Joseph B. McDermott, age 77, of Elmira, NY. He was born July 28, 1927, in Edwardsville, PA, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Byron) McDermott, and passed away Friday, October 8, 2004, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen, in June of 1985. McNETT Lucinda Mae Age 57 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday September 11, 2006. Lucinda was born on August 4, 1949 in Canton, PA the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Emma M. Clark McNett. She was a member of the VFW #6083 in Elmira Heights, NY since 1984 and a member of the American Legion Post #442 in Horseheads, NY. She was a Senior Lead Inspector for Synthes in Big Flats, NY. She loved her family and friends and treasured the time spent with them. SAMUEL W. MCNETT, age 71, of Lot #36, Catherine Mobile Park, Millport, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, January 27, 1993, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  He was born June 28, 1921, in Leolyn, Pa., a son of the late Garth and Pauline (Ruddy) McNett.  Mr. McNett retired from  Thatcher Glass in 1983 after 38 years of service.  He was a veteran of WW II; life member of VFW Post #6083 Elmira Heights; life member of the American Legion Post #442 Horseheads; life member of the Disabled American Veterans; life member of the Millport Hunting and Fishing Club.  He was also a member of the Horseheads Elks and the Moose Lodge #429 Canton, Pa.  He is survived by; his loving wife of 47 years, Emma (Clark) McNett; sons, Samuel C. McNett of Elmira, Thomas O. Betty C. Age 84, of Carriage Estates, Elmira, NY. She was born April 9, 1922 in Wyalusing, PA, daughter of the late Albert and Lillian (Abrams) Messersmith, and passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Francis Schrann of Sayre, PA; daughters, Marcene Sullivan of Elmira, and Mary Lee Rutty of Horseheads; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty retired from Thatcher Glass Mfg. Co. with over 30 years of service. She was a former member of the Elmira Moose Club. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. MICHAELS - SAWDEY Pauline M., Formerly of Laurel Street, Was born November 9, 1917 in Grassflat, PA, the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Askey) Michaels, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY, at the age of 90. On August 24, 1964, her loving husband, Harold W. Sawdey predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Michaels, Clea Michaels and Ken Michaels; sisters, Kathleen Minns and Betty Burge. She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Susan Sawdey of Millport, NY, Bill and Michele Sawdey of Lancaster, PA; adored grandchildren, Dylan, Janna and Josiah Sawdey, Jeremy and Kyle Sawdey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Marge Michaels of Frenchville, PA, Dale and Jennifer Michaels of Greere, SC; dear and lifelong friend, Mary "Mame" Ketz of Bath, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Pauline was a wonderful and loving mother, not only raising her two sons as a single parent, but also providing for them as well. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. She also had a great love for the game of baseball and was a diehard New York Yankees fan. Mrs. Sawdey was a hard working woman retiring from Twin Tier Buick after many dedicated years of service as their bookkeeper at the age of 72. At her request, there will be no prior calling hours. MILLER - AUSTIN Florence M.
Age 100 of Murphy Hill Rd., Horseheads, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Mon., Oct. 13, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, Edson Austin, in 1995. She is survived by her daughters and son, Cora Janowski of Catlin, Franklin (Vicky) Austin, also of Catlin, Ruth (Joseph) Fitzpatrick of Anderson, SC; sisters, Sadie Clark of Trout Run, PA and Cora Van Dyke of Liberty, PA; many grandchildren, and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, Bert Miller; and sisters, Bina Zeafla, Ida Barnes and Mildred Jarrett. She was born in Tioga Co., PA, on January 3, 1908, the daughter to the late Ulysses and Catherine (Alexander) Miller. Florence and her husband Edson were longtime residents and farmers in Catlin Center. She was also a teacher in Catlin Center in the late 1920's. Florence enjoyed gardening, flowers and crocheting. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the hummingbirds at her home. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. MILLS – Mrs. Mary (Mills) Boardman, age 98, of 1160 Gordon Circle, Elmira, NY, died Saturday, July 13, 1991, at her home after an extended illness. She was predeceased in 1974 by her husband, N. Harold Boardman, who was a former manager of the G.E. Foundry. She is survived by; daughter and son-in-law, Ann & John Colucci of Horseheads; grandchildren, Peter Colucci of Rochester, Cynthia Slaasted of Marshall, VA, Richard Boardman of Elmira, Marsha Boardman of Omaha, NE, John Boardman of Texas; great grandchildren, Emily & Adam Berger of Marshall, VA and Robert Boardman of Pulaski, TN; several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased in 1989 by her son, Robert E. Boardman and previously by daughter-in-law, Florence Boardman in 1977, by grandson, Lt. Kirk B. Williams and in 1975 by step grandson, Joseph D. Colucci. Mrs. Boardman was born May 30, 1893 in Elmira, the daughter of Frank and Harriet (Everts) Mills. She graduated from EFA and EBI, and resided in Elmira for her entire life. M. June Of Elmira passed away Saturday evening, March 18, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness. June was born on May 10, 1922 daughter of John & Eva Misner. She was predeceased by her loving husband and companion, Leonard V. Houghtaling following 54 years of marriage on February 13, 2001. Her many interests included working closely with her husband in their wood working business, gardening and caring for her home. June was a gifted seamstress who made many gowns by hand. Surviving is her family who cherish her memory, Susan & Tim Robinson, Springwater, NY; John Houghtaling, WA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. MONTGOMERY GENEVA MINNICK, Mrs. Geneva Montgomery, age 58, of 309 Moffitt Ave., Kane, Penna., Thursday, Dec. 7, 1972. Funeral service was held at the John F. Mrs. Minnick had been employed for the past several weeks as a cook at the Hillcrest Restaurant in Kane, Penna. She was a member of the Church of God of Kane, Penna.

MORGAN Frances O. KRUMLOFF, 88, of Horseheads and formerly of North Chemung and Elmira, NY died on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at the Manor at Bethany Village, Horseheads.  Mrs. Krumloff was born January 21, 1910 in Troy, PA to Enos and Emily Porter Morgan.  She is survived by two daughters; five grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, earl S. Krumloff, in 1948.  Funeral services were held at the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads with interment to be in Forest Lawn memorial Park.

MORRIS Richard E. Age 85, of Elmira, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Dick was born June 7, 1921, the son of Edwin L. and Sara Bailey Morris. He is predeceased by his wife Caroline Seymour Morris. Dick is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. "Merc" and Sue Morris of Elmira; grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, and Damon Morris, with Carolyn Renko, all of Elmira; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Samatha and Zachary Smith, Jennifer and Jamie Morris; along with several great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Dick was a World War II veteran, serving with the Merchant Marines. He was a journeyman roofer for over 25 years with Local 51. Dick later went to work with the maintenance department of the Elmira City School District from where he retired. An avid euchre player, Dick enjoyed his time spent at the Hibernian Club playing cards. He also loved to listen to jazz. He put his arms around our beloved wife and mother and whispered "come with me", then her loving heart stopped beating that Sunday night, August 24, 2008 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, and she went home to be with her heavenly Father. Ann was born December 11, 1932 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Clayton and Helen Scott Moses. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Maines. Ann is survived by her always devoted and ever loving husband, John "Jack" Kay; and her children, Deborah (Richard) Mabie of Columbia, SC, Susan (David) Swartwood of Horseheads, NY, John (Lynette) Kay of Blossvale, NY and Stephanie (Jeff) Neder of Penfield, NY; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom she absolutely adored; brother and sister, Ronald Moses of Saranac Lake, NY, and Pat Martello of Horseheads, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
