FARNHAM - RADNEY, Pearl F.
Age 85, of Hilton Dr., Horseheads, NY, died Sunday, April 6, 2008,
at home. Pearl was born on December 13, 1922 in Elmira, daughter of the
late James and Bessie (Crandall) Farnham. Pearl retired from NYS Chemung
County Correctional Credit Union as treasurer-manager. She also worked
for Ward LaFrance in Elmira Heights for many years, along with being a
realtor for Alberta Blanchard Real-Estate in Horseheads. She was a longtime
council member for the Chemung County Republican Party. Pearl loved spending
time with her family and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her
daughters, Linda (Glenn) Pulleyn, and Deborah (Edwin) Knapp, both of Horseheads,
NY; grandchildren, Kenneth (Tina) Pulleyn, Kimberly (Steve) Miller, Tracy
(Matt) Voorhees, Heather (Dylan)Bruntil; great-grandchildren, Brittany
and Nikki Miller, April, Kelsey and Caitlyn Pulleyn, Jacob and Matthew
Voorhees, Colby Bruntil; sisters, Arlene Aderhold and Rosemary Gilson;
several nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Charles
Radney in 2002. It was Pearl's request that there be no calling hours.
Interment with private services will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial

FERRIS - LATTERELL, Crystal P. (Ferris)
Of Stacia Drive, died peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2007, at Elcor
Health Services, Horseheads, NY, at the age of 87. "Chris," as she was
affectionately known, was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles
F. "Chuck" Latterell, November 18, 2001. Her parents; brother, Cecil Ferris;
daughter, Jane Sorrells; brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Latterell; sisters-in-law,
Mary Latterell, Eleanor (Carmen) Dean, also predeceased her. She is survived
by her son, Thomas (Marty) Hopkins of Louisville, KY; brother-in-law, Ernest
"Bucky" (Eleanor) Latterell of Elmira, NY; along with five grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
For several years, Crystal was a dedicated employee of Remington Rand.
She volunteered with the Southport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for
many years. Her greatest joy came from gardening and planting flowers all
around her home. Crystal was an Avon Representative for 15+ years and was
the recipient of many prestigious awards. Family and friends are invited

FIELD Lynn T., Sr.
Age 77, formerly of Elmira, NY. He was born February 18, 1930 in Elmira,
son of the late Arthur D., Sr. and Evelyn (Taylor) Field and died Thursday,
February 7, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased
by his parents; brothers and sisters, Arthur, Jr., Carl, Paul, Dorothy,
Evelyn and MaryLou; grandson, Christopher. Lynn is survived by his loving
wife if 55 years, Frances: two sons, Lynn T. Field, Jr. and wife, Lisa
of Corning, Craig M. Field and wife, Debbie of Horseheads; five grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Pickett of Jamestown, NY; along
with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lynn served his country in the
U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Elmira where
he worked as an Engineering Department Supervisor for 35 years. Family
and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake
St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Saturday, February 16th from 2 to 4
p.m. His funeral and committal services will follow at 4 p.m. Rev. Dr.

FIELDS –CLEONE M. FIELDS BUCHANAN age 68 of Meridan, MS died on April 26, 2000 at her home. She was born in 1932 in Elmira, NY to the late Allen and Alice Fields. She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Meridan, MS. Cleone was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus (Mike) Buchanan and her brother, Jack Fields. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Church Porter of Meridan, MS; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Bill and Peg Buchanan of Elmira, NY; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. FIELDS Raymond L. WWII Veteran Age 86, died on July 30, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, in the Bath VA Medical Center, Bath, NY. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Carr Fields of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and David Kelly of Vestal, NY; son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy Fields of Apalachin, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Tom Mitteer of Johnson City, NY; sons, Roy Fields of Baltimore, MD, Joseph Fields of Endicott, NY; stepdaughter, Joyce Fiore of Elmira, NY; sister, Sylvia Buckland of Vestal, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raymond served in the Army during WWII achieving the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Shafer's Garage in Johnson City, NY. He then owned and operated Ray's Garage in Endicott and Johnson City. Ray was retired from business and idle only a short time before going to work for American LaFrance in Elmira building fire trucks and delivering them all over the country. In recent years, he worked for Koch Chrysler-Dodge, Clute & Ferrario Ford as a courtesy driver and parts delivery. Ray enjoyed auto racing. He built and raced stock cars at local tracks earlier in his career, and later in life enjoyed NASCAR racing. He enjoyed boating and spent a number of years motoring around Cayuga Lake. Ray was a member of the American Legion Harry B. Bentley Post #0443, VFW of Johnson City #2332, Elks, and a lifetime member since 1940, of the Loyal Order of Moose #426. He held many positions in the Moose leading to the honorific Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Ray had many friends in the community and his fraternal clubs. He was appreciated and loved by everyone he encountered. He will be missed by all. FISH Robert R. II
Age 63 of S. Broadway, Wellsburg, NY, died peacefully Thursday morning
at ELCOR Health Services. He was born August 23, 1944 in Elmira, NY, son
of the late Robert and Cora Casselberry Fish. Bob was employed as a punch
press operator at Upstate Tool Company and later at Thomas & Betts.
He enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Pamela
Fish of Elmira; sons, Robert (Danielle) Pedrick, Michael Fish and Joshua
Fish, all of Elmira; daughters, Carolyn (Anthony Buelow) Fish and Belinda

Kenneth H. Kennedy Valve Retiree Age 85 of Woodbine Ave. Elmira, NY
died peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the Chemung County Nursing
Facility. He was born June 26, 1916 in Waterville, Maine the son of the
late Charles and Mary (Williams) Fletcher. He is survived by his loving
wife, Rose; children, Nancy (Chris) Hansen of Rutland VT; Edward (Irene)
Fletcher of Las Vegas, NV; Janet (John) Haflett of Calhoun, GA; step-children,
Raymond (Lois) Ingham of Endicott, NY; Phyllis Hatfield of Horseheads,
NY; Rose (Rick) Graffius of Punxsutawney, PA; James (Maureen) Ingham Lewiston,
NY; along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his earlier
years, Kenneth was employed by the Kennedy Space Center as an electrician.
After re-locating to the Elmira area he worked until his retirement with
Kennedy Valve as an electrician as well. He was a member of the American
Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 Elmira Heights, NY. In his spare time
Kenneth enjoyed working with wood. Some of his most favorite things to
create were shelves, cupboards, coffee tables and cradles. Family and friends

May L. Age 82, of Canandaigua and formerly of Newtown Towers Elmira,
died after a long illness Sat. June 17, 2006. She was predeceased by her
husband, Paul Kieffer in 1980, and is survived by her children, Patricia
Slaven of Virginia Beach, VA, Ruth Evans of Clearlake, CA, Allen Kieffer
of Glendale, AZ, Paul Kieffer of North Carolina, John Kieffer of Canandaigua,
NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May was born Oct. 24,
1923 in Corning, NY, the daughter of Bert and Ruth (Ribble) Forsyth. She

Mildred E. Fowler Of Elmira, New York, died on Saturday, March 10,
2007. Many are those who will miss and mourn her and the unconditional
love that was her legacy. She was a mother and grandmother without equal
to her daughter, Donna C. Kerr-Nowlan; and grandson, Brent Fowler Nowlan,
both of Elmira, and grandson, Craig Kerr (Mary) Nowlan of Cape Coral, FL;
sister-in-law, Ruth (Tootie) Fowler; and close friends, Rose Charlap and
Edward Bartlett. The "adopted" mother of many others and spread the definition
of the word "friend" and family. Mildred was predeceased by her husband,

Jeannette Age 75 Of Elmira, NY died Saturday, December 15, 2001 at
the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.She was born on July 26, 1926 in Gillette,
PA the daughter of Harry and Nellie Strange Frickle.She is survived by:
her son; Larry (Valerie) White, grandsons; Harrison and Spencer White all
of Corvallis, OR. Also surviving are: a step-son Ronald White of Pine City,

FREELOVE -BERTHA M. HALL
Bertha M. Hall, 83, of Elmira, NY died Wednesday April 19, 1995 at
Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born Bertha M. Freelove, December 17,
1911, in Troy, PA. She is survived by her children: Delores (Hall) Waters
of Horseheads, NY, Marjorie (Hall) and Douglas Ames of Elmira, NY, Richard
and Joanne (Harris) Hall of Boise, ID, Beverly (Hall) Balint of Elmira,
NY, Robert and Dianne (Dupree) Hall of Horseheads, NY; eight great-grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces and nephews. She
was predeceased by her husband, Ernest N. Hall; grandsons: Jeffrey and
Jason Hall; sister: Frances Fay. Bertha was a resident of the Skilled Nursing
Unit of the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and former employee of Elmira College.
Funeral and Committal Services were held at the Olthof Funeral Home in
Elmira on April 21st. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at

FREEMAN Owen Dennis
Age 67, died on October 23, 2009 at Citrus Memorial Hospice
in Florida. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Freeman; children, Tammie,
Clint and Gregg; sister, Barbara Lawson; brother, Curtis (Ann) Freeman;
along with several nieces and nephews. Owen was predeceased by his father,
Wilfred and brother, Noel. He was know as the "Bird Man" of Cedar Key,
Florida for his rescue and rehabilitation work with injured and ill pelicans.
A Graveside Service for Owen will take place on Wednesday, October 28th
at 1 PM in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted

FULLER Wendel P. "Hap" Of Elmira, NY
Was born September 10, 1918 in Conifer, NY, the son of the late Bert
Louis and Mildred (Haskins) Fuller, died peacefully at his home on Magee
Street on Saturday, February 9, 2008, with his beloved wife, "Betty" at
his side. His stepdaughter, Donna Greeno, who went home to be with her
Lord in May of 1995, predeceased him. "Hap", as he is affectionately known
by many, is survived by his loving, devoted and patient wife of 36 years,
Elizabeth "Betty" (Rounsville) Fuller; beloved stepchildren, Dick (Liz)
Fuller of Elmira, NY, Sharon (Pete) Maher of Elmira, NY; children, Raymond
Fuller of Florida, Paul (Denise) Fuller of Syracuse, NY, Barbara, also

GARDNER - Donald A. Gardner Sr.
January 4, 2008 Donald A. Gardner Sr., 87, of Dewitt, died Friday at
James Square. He was born in Canton, Ohio, and served with the Civil Air
Patrol during WWII. He retired from Continental Casualty Insurance Company
as an insurance sales person. He was a member of the Millionaires Club
for sales executives with Continental. Mr. Gardner was a communicant of
St. Matthew's Church and a member of the East Syracuse Moose Lodge. He
was predeceased by his first wife, Ada; his second wife, Barbara Featherstone;
a daughter, Donna Faye; and his brother, Norman. He is survived by his
sons, Donald of Gurnee, IL, and Ronald of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Charlene
Tebo of Gouverneur; stepchildren, Michael, Kathy, Timothy, Vicky and Charles
Featherstone; his brother, Delbert; his sister, Ruth; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson
Funeral Home, 3111 James St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park

Age 76, of Horseheads, NY, died Fri. May 23, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center. She was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Everett, MA, the daughter
to the late Henry and Etta (Major) Garrett. She was predeceased by her
brothers, Earl and Thomas Garrett; and sisters, Murial, Pat and Dorathea.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald J. Alexander; sons,

Cora G. Age 88, of Ball Street, Waverly, died peacefully Sunday, July
10, 2005, at the Tioga Nursing Facility. She was born August 22, 1916 in
Lockwood, New York, the daughter of the late Rose Harford and Ward Gillette,
and wife of the late James Merkes. Cora was also predeceased by her three
brothers, Carl, Leon and Hugh Gillette; and two sisters-in-law, Katherine
Gillette and Betty Northrup. Cora worked as a department head at W.T. Grants
in Horseheads, NY, and as a homemaker. She is survived by her sister, Ruth
Mott, Owego, NY; her four brothers, Lyle (Evelyn) Gillette, Waverly, NY,
Ross (Arlene) Gillette, Candor, NY, Ivan (Alberta) Gillette, Mount Joy,
PA., and Gene (Catherine) Gillette, Gouchland, VA; a sister-in-law, Joan
Gillette, Willseyville, NY; and stepson and daughter-in-law, Keith and
Ann Merkes, Elmira, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Angeline (Goodrich) Hall of the Seneca View Nursing Facility, Montour Falls,

Goodrich of Middlebury Center, PA, and Lawrence M. Goodrich of Littleton,
CO. He is also survived by his loving companion, Sharon Thompson of Montour
Falls, NY, and her children, Shannon (Greg) Belanger of Elmira, NY, Shane
Ricci of Rochester, NY, and Adam Just of Montour Falls, NY; and special
friends, Sandy and Gene Kinney; along with several nieces, nephews and
cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Earl Goodrich; grandson, Dustin;
and stepfather, Amos Hall. Floyd was very active in the New York State
Fireman's Association. He served as Chief of the Odessa Fire Department
for 5 years. Floyd served two years in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

GOODSELL - Campbell, Dorothy
A longtime resident of the Westside community died, Friday morning,
May 16, 2008 at her home in the loving care of her family and Southern
Tier Hospice. At her side were her two daughters, Fern Leopold, Elmira;
and Anne Turner, Moore Haven, FL; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Campbell,
Savona.
Also surviving are her sons-in-law, William Leopold and Dale Turner;
four grandchildren, John (Liz) Campbell, Sterling, VA; Brian (Christy)
Campbell, Clermont, FL; David (Susan) Campbell, Salem, MA; and Carrie Leopold,
Elmira; four great grandchildren, Jack, Ellie and Nicholas Campbell and
Kaylee Leopold along with nieces, nephews and Dorothy's church family at
Westside United Methodist Church where she attended for many years.
Predeceasing her were her parents, Fred & Fern Brooks Goodsell; her
loving husband of 43 years, Wesley J. Campbell; a cherished son, John Campbell;
three sisters, Julia (Julian "Dude") Stocking, Adele (Bruce) Jefferds,
Winifred (Charles Eugene) Davis and a brother, William Goodsell. Remembered
by her smile, Dorothy was a warm and caring person. She enjoyed gardening,
reading and watching the NY Mets. Dorothy was employed by J.C. Penny for
many years in the fabric department first in the original location in downtown
and later at the Mall. Very important to her were the many lives she influenced
through the Girl Scouts where she was very active. Dorothy always provided
a wonderful home for her family and pets. Family and friends will

Gwendolyn J. Age 67, of Lowman, NY, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2006,

her husband, Robert Coates; sons, Joseph, Randy and Bobby Jr. Coates; and
brothers, Albert and Jerry Gore. Survivors include her daughter, Rosemarie

GOSLINE William E. Jr.
Age 81, formerly a resident of 550 E. Church St., Elmira, died on Tuesday,
August 19, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where he resided
since May. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Roaring Branch, PA, only
son of the late William and Emma Jane (Eden) Gosline Sr. Bill was predeceased
by his sisters, Sarah Quinn, Lillian Overacker, Winifred June, Barbara
McNutt; and niece, Debra June. He is survived by his sister, Emma Jane
(Robert) Tuttle of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, William Overacker of Horseheads;
along with several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Bill
graduated from Southside High School in 1944 and was a veteran of the US
Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was employed as an administrative assistant
in the office of the psychiatrist at the Elmira Correctional Facility and
was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Bill will be remembered
as a faithful volunteer of many hours at St. Joseph's Hospital until his
declining health forced him to discontinue. Family and friends are invited
to call on Sunday, August 24th from 1 to 2 p.m. at the James D. Barrett

GOWAN –FERN ARDIS HARDENSTINE. A long time resident of Elmira's Southside, died peacefully in the care of her family, friends and hospice at her home on Saturday morning, February 2, 2002 at the age of 86. Born on May 27, 1915 in Evergreen, PA Ardis was the daughter of Charles and Maude Robinson Gowan. She married Paul Hardenstine on April 17, 1942. Ardis was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Elmira City School System for over 24 years until her retirement in 1973. Her earliest days of teaching were in a one room school house in New Era, PA. Ardis was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a long time member of the Fassett Baptist Church in Fassett, PA. Ardis also taught Sunday School and was active in many local Bible School Classes. Much enjoyment was found at her home, flower gardening, baking, and making crafts. Always a witness, she was happy to serve the Lord. Surviving is her loving husband and friend of 59 years, Paul Hardenstine, her daughter and son-in-law, Arleah and Elwin Fitch of Tucson, AZ; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Shirley Hardenstine of Athens, PA; grandchildren, David Fitch, Paul Nicholas Hardenstine (Shelley Heerey) and Tammy Lou Benefield; great grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron and Bryan Benefield, Chelsie Hardenstine, Caitlin, Joshua and Rachel Heerey; sisters, Coral "Polly" Ward of Hayward, CA; and Mary Ellen (Richard) Williams of Wyalusing, PA; several nieces and nephews. Gowin, and died Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, Wilkes-Barre,
PA after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years,
Albert H. Bricka on January 29, 2008; brothers, Leonard, Jr., Ronald, Donald
and Albert; and sister, Louise Kasson. Arlie is survived by her children,

Mrs. Kline was the widow of the late Ray J. Kline, Sr., who died in November of 1974. She attended the Pine City Baptist Church and was an employee of the Colonial Theater.
GRANGER – Lois Kelsey, formerly of Flannery Towers, died peacefully at her son’s home in Elmira Heights while under the loving care of her family and Southern Tier Hospice on Saturday morning, October 2, 2004. Born on June 22, 1937, her in Elmira, Lois was the daughter of Edwin C. and Ruth Liddy Granger. She was married to Robert Kelsey Sr. and he predeceased her in 2003. Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, playing Bingo, and caring for her own children as well as those she cared for in the “Fresh Air fund” for many years. Surviving are her children, sherry and Michael Insogna of Elmira, Robert E. Kelsey Jr. of Elmira and his girlfriend, Annette Romeo, and Joseph Kelsey of Elmira Heights; her daughter-in-law, Tina Columbine; sisters, Barbara Greg, Janet Mattison, and Mary Ann Elliott; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her friend and loving companion, Robert Costley, and a caring friend, Karen Newton. Family and friends will be received at Caywood’s Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport, on Monday, October 11, 2004, from 11 AM to 1 PM. GRANGER VIOLET L. BAUMAN (Butch)
Age 69, of 508 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY. She was born January
13, 1938 in Elmira, daughter of the late John E. and Leah (Ames) Granger,
and died Friday, April 27, 2007, at home after a brief illness, surrounded
by her family. She is survived by her husband, Frank Charles Bauman; children,
Connie (Terrence) Cogswell of Wellsburg, Dean (Teresa) Bauman of Millport,
and Matthew (Pam) Apgar of Erin; nine grandchildren, including special
granddaughter, Jenny; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Kelly
of Elmira, and Bonnie (Dick) Edwards of VA; along with several nieces and
nephews. Violet was a member of the Life Abundance Church. She retired
from Barton's Rest Home after 22 years of service. Family and friends are
invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington
Ave., Elmira, on Tuesday, May 1st, from 6 to 7 p.m. Her funeral and committal
services will follow at 7 p.m. Rev. Jerry Berbary will officiate. Interment
will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the

GRASSETTE Ronald W. "Grizzly Ron"
Age 61, of Elmira, died at his home, with his family by his side, on
Saturday, November 24, 2007. Ron was born December 25, 1945 in Cambridge,
MA, a son of the late Orden C. and Wanda Sleginski Grassette. In addition
to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Marcia Grassette, mother-in-law,
Margaret Cruthers, and granddaughter, Madeline Ames. Ron is survived by
his loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn Cruthers Grassette; daughters and
sons-in-law, Jenifer J. and Lance Ames, Robyn R. and Joshua Bennett, all
of Elmira; granddaughters, Taylor Ames, Ella and Emilyn Bennett; brothers
and sisters-in-law, Orden and Althea Grassette of Sevierville, TN, Robert
and Joanne Grassette of Stewartstown, NH; father-in-law, Melvin Cruthers
of Newbury, OH, with his wife Bell; step-brother-in-law, William Spencer
of Middlefield, OH, with his wife Diane; along with several aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, and cousins. Grizzly Ron played semi-pro basketball for
a Greek team in Cambridge, MA. He served in Vietnam from 1969 – 1970 with
the 101st Airborne Division. Ron was a radio teletype operator and a helicopter
machine gun operator. Ron earned a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.
He was a retail sales manager for Woolworth's in Richmond Hill, Queens
and later for Rockbottom on Long Island. Moving to Elmira he became assistant
manager of Pudgie's Northside. His last place of employment was at F.M.
Howell. Being born and raised in Massachusetts, Grizzly Ron was an avid
Red Sox, Celtic and New England Patriot fan. He was an avid sportsman,
enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his Tuesday and Wednesday night pool
leagues. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner
of Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 1:00 p.m.
to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held
at the conclusion of calling hours with Don Crawford officiating. Interment
will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family
would like to offer a special thanks to Stephanie and the LPN's at Southern
Tier Hospice for their dedication and loving care given to Grizzly Ron.

GRAY Jack L.
Age 74, of Athens, PA, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at his home
surrounded by his family. Jack was born August 18, 1933 in Elmira, New
York, the son of the late Margaret Dates and Lehman Gray. Mr. Gray was
a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Thatcher Glass after
18 years of service there. His greatest joy was his family and especially
spending time with grandson, Christopher. He is survived by his daughter,
Peggy Gray-Mitchell of Athens, PA; his son, John Gray of Corning, NY; his
grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Nikki, Billy and Makiya; as well as
his former wife, Darlene Earl; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanne May of 131 Decker Rd., Van Etten, NY, Went home to the arms
of Jesus on October 25, 2001. She was a wife and homemaker for husband
Daniel for 30 years. She was a mother of nine who faithfully home schooled
her children in academics and in the knowledge of the Lord. She tried to
live her life and guide her family by the Bible Scripture Isaiah 54:13.
She was predeceased by her father, Jack Erwin Gray on January 10, 1985.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel Lynn Mathews; mother, Anna
Gray of Horseheads, children, Locke Mathews of Willow Creek, CA, Candice
Mathews of Long Island, Seth Mathews of Elmira and Vickie, Chancey, Dagmar,

Formerly of Crestview Drive, Pine City, NY, was born September 19,
1926 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late William and Violet Mae (Wenzel)
Greenwalt, died peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 81. The
family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the Olthof

Inez M. nee: Gunderman Age 85, formerly of Jerusalem Hill Rd., died
Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She
is survived by her children, sons, Donald (Judy) Barchet, Annville, PA,
Douglas (Sylvia) Barchet, Wellsburg, NY; daughters, Joyce (Gene) Stow,
Horseheads, and Janice Heeman of Elmira; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren;
sisters, Lois Drake, Lowman, Dorothy Semko, Las Vegas, NV, Joan Roman,
Elmira; brother, Harold Gunderman, Elmira; several nieces, nephews and
cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth. She enjoyed spending
time with her family, square dancing, and was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Elmira. The family wishes to gratefully thank the 5th floor staff
of CCNF for their loving care. At the request of Inez there will be no
calling hours or funeral service. She will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted

Devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister
and friend. Age 86 and long time resident of North Chemung, died
on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. She was born in the Town of Baldwin, on March
12, 1921 to the late Earl and Jennie (Elston) Gunderman. She was predeceased
by her husband, Charles Drake in 1983; and is survived by her daughters,
Shirley Weiland of North Chemung, NY, Betty (Charles) Thomas of Scottsboro,
AL; grandchildren, Laurie (Rick Gibson) Bowman of Woodville, AL, Elizabeth
"Betsy" Bowman of Elmira, NY, Shelly (Dave Oldroyd) Weiland of Corning,
NY, Scott Weiland of North Chemung, NY; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and
Elizabeth Brand, Matthew and Meghan McGonigal, Olivia Kreydatus and Brandon
Weiland; great-great-grandchildren, Anthony Brand and Hanna Cronk; brother
and sister, Harold (Loretta) Gunderman of Elmira, NY, Joan Roman of Elmira,
NY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was
also predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Guy, Earl, Ronald, Glenn, and
John Gunderman; sisters, Betty Brown, Dorothy Semko, and Inez Barchet.
She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Breesport, Southern
Light Chapter O.E.S. Lois also enjoyed reading, painting, playing cards,
quilting, and crafting. She enjoyed cooking and baking and above all else
she loved the time spent with her family. Family and friends are invited
to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, on Friday,
June 1, 2007, from 4-7:00 p.m. Her service will take place at the funeral
home on Sat., June 2, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Anne Mowery officiating.

Age 94, of Jerusalem Hill Road, Elmira, NY. She was born December 2,
1914 in Elmira, daughter of the late John and Mary (Konasiewicz) Gural
and died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at home. She was predeceased
by her husband, John T. Smith, in 1965; son, Richard W. Smith in 2005;
brothers, Joseph and John Gural and is survived by her children, John G.
Smith and Patricia Ann Rice, both of Elmira; daughter-in-law, Gayle Smith
of Horseheads; sister-in-law, Evelyn Gural of Elmira; grandchildren, Kathleen
(Thomas) Collins, Timothy Smith, Jeffrey Smith and David (Lori) Rice; great-grandchildren,
Alexis Collins and Jaedyn Dwyer. Mrs. Smith was a communicant of Ss. Peter
