FARNHAM - RADNEY, Pearl F.
Age 85, of Hilton Dr., Horseheads, NY, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008, at home. Pearl was born on December 13, 1922 in Elmira, daughter of the late James and Bessie (Crandall) Farnham. Pearl retired from NYS Chemung County Correctional Credit Union as treasurer-manager. She also worked for Ward LaFrance in Elmira Heights for many years, along with being a realtor for Alberta Blanchard Real-Estate in Horseheads. She was a longtime council member for the Chemung County Republican Party. Pearl loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Glenn) Pulleyn, and Deborah (Edwin) Knapp, both of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Kenneth (Tina) Pulleyn, Kimberly (Steve) Miller, Tracy (Matt) Voorhees, Heather (Dylan)Bruntil; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Nikki Miller, April, Kelsey and Caitlyn Pulleyn, Jacob and Matthew Voorhees, Colby Bruntil; sisters, Arlene Aderhold and Rosemary Gilson; several nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Charles Radney in 2002. It was Pearl's request that there be no calling hours. FARWELL,  Jr., 30, of East Cayuta Road, Horseheads, Monday, Feb. 6, 1961.  He was an employee of Shays Service, Inc., member of Northside Baptist Church.  Survived by wife, Mrs. Marilyn Farwell; daughters, Marilyn and Janet; sons John III and Douglas, all at home; parents Mr. and Mrs. John H. Farwell of Elmira; brothers, Lyle of Beacon, N. Y., Earl, Robert, Dale and Gary of Elmira, sister Mrs. Irma Rodabaugh of Horseheads.  Body at Barrett Funeral Home.  Calling hours: today and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. in Northside Baptist Church, the Rev. FERRIS - LATTERELL, Crystal P. (Ferris)
Of Stacia Drive, Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2007, at Elcor Health Services, Horseheads, NY, at the age of 87. "Chris," as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles F. "Chuck" Latterell, November 18, 2001. Her parents; brother, Cecil Ferris; daughter, Jane Sorrells; brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Latterell; sisters-in-law, Mary Latterell, Eleanor (Carmen) Dean, also predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Marty) Hopkins of Louisville, KY; brother-in-law, Ernest "Bucky" (Eleanor) Latterell of Elmira, NY; along with five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. For several years, Crystal was a dedicated employee of Remington Rand. She volunteered with the Southport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Her greatest joy came from gardening and planting flowers all around her home. Crystal was an Avon Representative for 15+ years and was the recipient of many prestigious awards. FIELD Lynn T., Sr.
Age 77, formerly of Elmira, NY. He was born February 18, 1930 in Elmira, son of the late Arthur D., Sr. and Evelyn (Taylor) Field and passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers and sisters, Arthur, Jr., Carl, Paul, Dorothy, Evelyn and MaryLou; grandson, Christopher. Lynn is survived by his loving wife if 55 years, Frances: two sons, Lynn T. Field, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Corning, Craig M. Field and wife, Debbie of Horseheads; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Pickett of Jamestown, NY; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lynn served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Elmira where he worked as an Engineering Department Supervisor for 35 years. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Saturday, February 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. His funeral and committal services will follow at 4 p.m. Rev. FIELDS – Allen E. Fields, age 81, of Gillett RD2, PA, died Monday, May 5, 1986, at the Troy Community Hospital. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Survived by wife of 57 years, Alice (Cole) Fields; daughter, Mrs. Cleone Buchanan of Ocala, FL; son, Jack Fields of Gillett, PA; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Allen was a retired car repairman for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

FIELDS Raymond L. WWII Veteran Age 86, passed away on July 30, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, in the Bath VA Medical Center, Bath, NY. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Carr Fields of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and David Kelly of Vestal, NY; son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy Fields of Apalachin, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Tom Mitteer of Johnson City, NY; sons, Roy Fields of Baltimore, MD, Joseph Fields of Endicott, NY; stepdaughter, Joyce Fiore of Elmira, NY; sister, Sylvia Buckland of Vestal, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raymond served in the Army during WWII achieving the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Shafer's Garage in Johnson City, NY. He then owned and operated Ray's Garage in Endicott and Johnson City. Ray was retired from business and idle only a short time before going to work for American LaFrance in Elmira building fire trucks and delivering them all over the country. In recent years, he worked for Koch Chrysler-Dodge, Clute & Ferrario Ford as a courtesy driver and parts delivery. Ray enjoyed auto racing. He built and raced stock cars at local tracks earlier in his career, and later in life enjoyed NASCAR racing. He enjoyed boating and spent a number of years motoring around Cayuga Lake. Ray was a member of the American Legion Harry B. Bentley Post #0443, VFW of Johnson City #2332, Elks, and a lifetime member since 1940, of the Loyal Order of Moose #426. He held many positions in the Moose leading to the honorific Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Ray had many friends in the community and his fraternal clubs. He was appreciated and loved by everyone he encountered. He will be missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with funeral held there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.; followed by committal in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full Military Honors. A Memorial Pilgrim Service will be conducted Monday evening at 8:00 p.m.

FISH Benjamin H.
Benjamin H. Fish, 68, of 930 Spruce St., Friday, April 17, 1959.  He was a retired inspector at Remington Rand.  Survived by wife, Mrs. Lora Fish; daughters, Mrs. Leigh Shaw and Mrs. Florence Judson; sons, Waldo and Kenneth, all of Elmira; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Baker Newell of Elmira.  Body at Olthof Funeral Home.  Calling hours: today 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral there Monday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. FISH Robert R. II
Age 63 of S. Broadway, Wellsburg, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at ELCOR Health Services. He was born August 23, 1944 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Robert and Cora Casselberry Fish. Bob was employed as a punch press operator at Upstate Tool Company and later at Thomas & Betts. He enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Fish of Elmira; sons, Robert (Danielle) Pedrick, Michael Fish and Joshua Fish, all of Elmira; daughters, Carolyn (Anthony Buelow) Fish and Belinda Fish of Elmira; brothers, Lester, Danny and Charlie Fish, all of Elmira; sisters, Helen Fish and Julia Fish of Elmira, Betty Hoyt of Sayre, PA; grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashleigh, Brandon and Gavin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. FLETCHER
Kenneth H. Kennedy Valve Retiree Age 85 of Woodbine Ave. Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. He was born June 26, 1916 in Waterville, Maine the son of the late Charles and Mary (Williams) Fletcher. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; children, Nancy (Chris) Hansen of Rutland VT; Edward (Irene) Fletcher of Las Vegas, NV; Janet (John) Haflett of Calhoun, GA; step-children, Raymond (Lois) Ingham of Endicott, NY; Phyllis Hatfield of Horseheads, NY; Rose (Rick) Graffius of Punxsutawney, PA; James (Maureen) Ingham Lewiston, NY; along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his earlier years, Kenneth was employed by the Kennedy Space Center as an electrician. After re-locating to the Elmira area he worked until his retirement with Kennedy Valve as an electrician as well. He was a member of the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 Elmira Heights, NY. In his spare time Kenneth enjoyed working with wood. Some of his most favorite things to create were shelves, cupboards, coffee tables and cradles. FOSTER, Earl John W3BKF A longtime resident of Fassett, PA passed away following an illness on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2006 at his home at the age of 77. Born on June 9, 1929 in Troy, PA; Earl was the son of John & Eva Williams Foster; He was employed for over 30 years at the Elmira Star Gazette as a printer and also at Eureka in Troy for 10 additional years before retiring. His many interests revolved around the Fassett community as a firemen with the South Creek Fire Department and was instrumental in Bradford County Civil Defense. He was also a well known HAM Radio Operator, W3BKF. Surviving is his loving family, children, Lynn & Bob Ziegenfuss, York, PA; Kevin (Terri) Foster, Pine City, NY; Andy & Joette Foster, Southport, NY; Julie (John) Foster, Himrod, NY; and Eileen & Craig Allen, Cortland, NY several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a brother, Theodore Foster; two sisters, Beatrice Hurlburt and Margaret Johnston along with Earls canine companion, "Packet". Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway on Monday, November 27, 2006 between the hours of 4- 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:15 p.m. with the Reverend Donald Rockwell officiating. FORSYTH MAY L. KIEFFER
May L. Age 82, of Canandaigua and formerly of Newtown Towers Elmira, passed away after a long illness Sat. June 17, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Kieffer in 1980, and is survived by her children, Patricia Slaven of Virginia Beach, VA, Ruth Evans of Clearlake, CA, Allen Kieffer of Glendale, AZ, Paul Kieffer of North Carolina, John Kieffer of Canandaigua, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May was born Oct. 24, 1923 in Corning, NY, the daughter of Bert and Ruth (Ribble) Forsyth. She was a caring mother and grandmother and homemaker. Mildred E. Fowler Of Elmira, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2007. Many are those who will miss and mourn her and the unconditional love that was her legacy. She was a mother and grandmother without equal to her daughter, Donna C. Kerr-Nowlan; and grandson, Brent Fowler Nowlan, both of Elmira, and grandson, Craig Kerr (Mary) Nowlan of Cape Coral, FL; sister-in-law, Ruth (Tootie) Fowler; and close friends, Rose Charlap and Edward Bartlett. The "adopted" mother of many others and spread the definition of the word "friend" and family. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Sylvan L. Kerr in 1979. FRICKLE - WHITE  (SRGP 21884)
Jeannette Age 75 Of Elmira, NY passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.She was born on July 26, 1926 in Gillette, PA the daughter of Harry and Nellie Strange Frickle.She is survived by: her son; Larry (Valerie) White, grandsons; Harrison and Spencer White all of Corvallis, OR. Also surviving are: a step-son Ronald White of Pine City, sisters; Irma Curren of Fassett, PA, Jane Daggett of Daggett, PA and Diane Stoner of Arlington, MA, brother; Larue Frickle of Elmira, Heights, NY. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Victor Ival White in 1988. She was a member of the D.A.R. and attended the United Methodist Church. FREELOVE -BERTHA M. HALL
Bertha M. Hall, 83, of Elmira, NY died Wednesday April 19, 1995 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born Bertha M. Freelove, December 17, 1911, in Troy, PA. She is survived by her children: Delores (Hall) Waters of Horseheads, NY, Marjorie (Hall) and Douglas Ames of Elmira, NY, Richard and Joanne (Harris) Hall of Boise, ID, Beverly (Hall) Balint of Elmira, NY, Robert and Dianne (Dupree) Hall of Horseheads, NY; eight great-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest N. Hall; grandsons: Jeffrey and Jason Hall; sister: Frances Fay. Bertha was a resident of the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and former employee of Elmira College. Funeral and Committal Services were held at the Olthof Funeral Home in Elmira on April 21st. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. FULLER Wendel P. "Hap" Of Elmira, NY
Was born September 10, 1918 in Conifer, NY, the son of the late Bert Louis and Mildred (Haskins) Fuller, passed away peacefully at his home on Magee Street on Saturday, February 9, 2008, with his beloved wife, "Betty" at his side. His stepdaughter, Donna Greeno, who went home to be with her Lord in May of 1995, predeceased him. "Hap", as he is affectionately known by many, is survived by his loving, devoted and patient wife of 36 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Rounsville) Fuller; beloved stepchildren, Dick (Liz) Fuller of Elmira, NY, Sharon (Pete) Maher of Elmira, NY; children, Raymond Fuller of Florida, Paul (Denise) Fuller of Syracuse, NY, Barbara, also of Syracuse, NY, Kathy Coughlin of Oneonta, NY, Gladys Jean Lesher of Alabama, Adelle of Texas; brother, Allen Fuller of Middlebury, PA; sisters, Jean Fish of Wellsboro, PA, Pauline Gardner of Texas; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fuller's nickname, "Hap", was given to him because of how happy he always was. He loved his work and was a "jack of all trades", knowing exactly what it meant to work by the sweat of his brow. He loved gardening and his flowers, especially his roses, which he took great pride in. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. GARDNER - Donald A. Gardner Sr.
January 4, 2008 Donald A. Gardner Sr., 87, of Dewitt, died Friday at James Square. He was born in Canton, Ohio, and served with the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. He retired from Continental Casualty Insurance Company as an insurance sales person. He was a member of the Millionaires Club for sales executives with Continental. Mr. Gardner was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church and a member of the East Syracuse Moose Lodge. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ada; his second wife, Barbara Featherstone; a daughter, Donna Faye; and his brother, Norman. He is survived by his sons, Donald of Gurnee, IL, and Ronald of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Charlene Tebo of Gouverneur; stepchildren, Michael, Kathy, Timothy, Vicky and Charles Featherstone; his brother, Delbert; his sister, Ruth; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira. GARRETT - ALEXANDER, Norma E.
Age 76, of Horseheads, NY, passed away Fri. May 23, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Everett, MA, the daughter to the late Henry and Etta (Major) Garrett. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl and Thomas Garrett; and sisters, Murial, Pat and Dorathea. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald J. Alexander; sons, Donald Alexander of Elmira, NY, John (Susie) Alexander of Elmira, NY, Ken (Pat) Alexander, also of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Alexander of Elmira, NY, Derrick Alexander of Horseheads, NY, Cheryl Alexander of Yonkers, NY, Jeffrey Alexander of Elmira, NY, and Brian Alexander of Elmira, NY; sisters, Alberta Pingree of NH, Isabel Vaughn and Marjorie Garrett, both of MA; and several nieces and nephews. Norma was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post #154. GARRISON CHARLOTTE G
NY passed away on Monday December 10 , 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. Charlotte was born October 7, 1948 in Elmira, NY the daughter of Howard E. and Grace C. Burlingame Garrison. She was pre-deceased by her father, Howard E. Garrison, on November 4, 1981. Charlotte is survived by her mother: Grace C. Cora G. Age 88, of Ball Street, Waverly, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2005, at the Tioga Nursing Facility. She was born August 22, 1916 in Lockwood, New York, the daughter of the late Rose Harford and Ward Gillette, and wife of the late James Merkes. Cora was also predeceased by her three brothers, Carl, Leon and Hugh Gillette; and two sisters-in-law, Katherine Gillette and Betty Northrup. Cora worked as a department head at W.T. Grants in Horseheads, NY, and as a homemaker. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Mott, Owego, NY; her four brothers, Lyle (Evelyn) Gillette, Waverly, NY, Ross (Arlene) Gillette, Candor, NY, Ivan (Alberta) Gillette, Mount Joy, PA., and Gene (Catherine) Gillette, Gouchland, VA; a sister-in-law, Joan Gillette, Willseyville, NY; and stepson and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ann Merkes, Elmira, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Age 71 of 506 Beecher Street Elmira, NY passed away on Monday May 28, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mabelle was born June 27, 1936 in Montour Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Lester W. and Cynthia E. Freeman Gleason. She was also pre-deceased by her husband Edward Johnson, her daughter Cindy L. Age 65, of Odessa, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2008. He is survived by his daughters, Marie A. Goodrich of Middlebury Center, PA, and Lawrence M. Goodrich of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by his loving companion, Sharon Thompson of Montour Falls, NY, and her children, Shannon (Greg) Belanger of Elmira, NY, Shane Ricci of Rochester, NY, and Adam Just of Montour Falls, NY; and special friends, Sandy and Gene Kinney; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Earl Goodrich; grandson, Dustin; and stepfather, Amos Hall. Floyd was very active in the New York State Fireman's Association. He served as Chief of the Odessa Fire Department for 5 years. Floyd served two years in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was also a member of the Odessa American Legion. A longtime resident of the Westside community passed away, Friday morning, May 16, 2008 at her home in the loving care of her family and Southern Tier Hospice.  At her side were her two daughters, Fern Leopold, Elmira; and Anne Turner, Moore Haven, FL; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Campbell, Savona.
Also surviving are her sons-in-law, William Leopold and Dale Turner; four grandchildren, John (Liz) Campbell, Sterling, VA; Brian (Christy) Campbell, Clermont, FL; David (Susan) Campbell, Salem, MA; and Carrie Leopold, Elmira; four great grandchildren, Jack, Ellie and Nicholas Campbell and Kaylee Leopold along with nieces, nephews and Dorothy's church family at Westside United Methodist Church where she attended for many years.   Predeceasing her were her parents, Fred & Fern Brooks Goodsell; her loving husband of 43 years, Wesley J. Campbell; a cherished son, John Campbell; three sisters, Julia (Julian "Dude") Stocking, Adele (Bruce) Jefferds, Winifred (Charles Eugene) Davis and a brother, William Goodsell. Remembered by her smile, Dorothy was a warm and caring person. She enjoyed gardening, reading and watching the NY Mets. Dorothy was employed by J.C. Penny for many years in the fabric department first in the original location in downtown and later at the Mall. Very important to her were the many lives she influenced through the Girl Scouts where she was very active. Gwendolyn J. Age 67, of Lowman, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Olean, NY on August 27, 1939 to the late Roland and Grace (Laing) Gore. Gwendolyn was predeceased by her husband, Robert Coates; sons, Joseph, Randy and Bobby Jr. Coates; and brothers, Albert and Jerry Gore. Survivors include her daughter, Rosemarie (Michael) Koloski of Montour Falls; sons, Erin (Yvonne) Coates of Montour Falls and Roland Coates of Erin; sister, Carol (Ted) Phillips of Portville, NY; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. GOSLINE William E. Jr.
Age 81, formerly a resident of 550 E. Church St., Elmira, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where he resided since May. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Roaring Branch, PA, only son of the late William and Emma Jane (Eden) Gosline Sr. Bill was predeceased by his sisters, Sarah Quinn, Lillian Overacker, Winifred June, Barbara McNutt; and niece, Debra June. He is survived by his sister, Emma Jane (Robert) Tuttle of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, William Overacker of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Southside High School in 1944 and was a veteran of the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was employed as an administrative assistant in the office of the psychiatrist at the Elmira Correctional Facility and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Bill will be remembered as a faithful volunteer of many hours at St. Joseph's Hospital until his declining health forced him to discontinue. GOWAN –FERN ARDIS HARDENSTINE.  A long time resident of Elmira's Southside, passed away peacefully in the care of her family, friends and hospice at her home on Saturday morning, February 2, 2002 at the age of 86. Born on May 27, 1915 in Evergreen, PA Ardis was the daughter of Charles and Maude Robinson Gowan. She married Paul Hardenstine on April 17, 1942. Ardis was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Elmira City School System for over 24 years until her retirement in 1973. Her earliest days of teaching were in a one room school house in New Era, PA. Ardis was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a long time member of the Fassett Baptist Church in Fassett, PA. Ardis also taught Sunday School and was active in many local Bible School Classes. Much enjoyment was found at her home, flower gardening, baking, and making crafts. Always a witness, she was happy to serve the Lord. Surviving is her loving husband and friend of 59 years, Paul Hardenstine, her daughter and son-in-law, Arleah and Elwin Fitch of Tucson, AZ; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Shirley Hardenstine of Athens, PA; grandchildren, David Fitch, Paul Nicholas Hardenstine (Shelley Heerey) and Tammy Lou Benefield; great grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron and Bryan Benefield, Chelsie Hardenstine, Caitlin, Joshua and Rachel Heerey; sisters, Coral "Polly" Ward of Hayward, CA; and Mary Ellen (Richard) Williams of Wyalusing, PA; several nieces and nephews. Ardis was predeceased by her brother Edward Lincoln Gowan and her sister Ruth Mapes. Age 83, of 376 Lattabrook Rd., Horseheads, NY. She was born September 12, 1925 in Durell, PA, daughter of the late Leonard, Sr. and Sadie (Vargason) Gowin, and passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Albert H. Bricka on January 29, 2008; brothers, Leonard, Jr., Ronald, Donald and Albert; and sister, Louise Kasson. Arlie is survived by her children, Jack Bricka and Carol Collins of Horseheads, Albert (Lorraine) Bricka of Elmira, Constance (John) Mathews of Syracuse, NY and Dale Bricka of Horseheads; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Arlie was a former stock car racer at Chemung Speedrome. She was a member of the Atlantic Women's Racing Assoc., volunteered in the community patterning autistic children, was an avid race fan, seamstress, gardener and a great cook. GRANGER – Lois Kelsey, formerly of Flannery Towers, passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Elmira Heights while under the loving care of her family and Southern Tier Hospice on Saturday morning, October 2, 2004. Born on June 22, 1937, her in Elmira, Lois was the daughter of Edwin C. and Ruth Liddy Granger. She was married to Robert Kelsey Sr. and he predeceased her in 2003. Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, playing Bingo, and caring for her own children as well as those she cared for in the “Fresh Air fund” for many years. Surviving are her children, sherry and Michael Insogna of Elmira, Robert E. Kelsey Jr. of Elmira and his girlfriend, Annette Romeo, and Joseph Kelsey of Elmira Heights; her daughter-in-law, Tina Columbine; sisters, Barbara Greg, Janet Mattison, and Mary Ann Elliott; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her friend and loving companion, Robert Costley, and a caring friend, Karen Newton. She was born January 13, 1938 in Elmira, daughter of the late John E. and Leah (Ames) Granger, and passed away Friday, April 27, 2007, at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Frank Charles Bauman; children, Connie (Terrence) Cogswell of Wellsburg, Dean (Teresa) Bauman of Millport, and Matthew (Pam) Apgar of Erin; nine grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Jenny; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Kelly of Elmira, and Bonnie (Dick) Edwards of VA; along with several nieces and nephews. Age 61, of Elmira, died at his home, with his family by his side, on Saturday, November 24, 2007. Ron was born December 25, 1945 in Cambridge, MA, a son of the late Orden C. and Wanda Sleginski Grassette. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Marcia Grassette, mother-in-law, Margaret Cruthers, and granddaughter, Madeline Ames. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn Cruthers Grassette; daughters and sons-in-law, Jenifer J. and Lance Ames, Robyn R. and Joshua Bennett, all of Elmira; granddaughters, Taylor Ames, Ella and Emilyn Bennett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orden and Althea Grassette of Sevierville, TN, Robert and Joanne Grassette of Stewartstown, NH; father-in-law, Melvin Cruthers of Newbury, OH, with his wife Bell; step-brother-in-law, William Spencer of Middlefield, OH, with his wife Diane; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Grizzly Ron played semi-pro basketball for a Greek team in Cambridge, MA. He served in Vietnam from 1969 – 1970 with the 101st Airborne Division. Ron was a radio teletype operator and a helicopter machine gun operator. Ron earned a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. He was a retail sales manager for Woolworth's in Richmond Hill, Queens and later for Rockbottom on Long Island. Moving to Elmira he became assistant manager of Pudgie's Northside. His last place of employment was at F.M. Howell. Being born and raised in Massachusetts, Grizzly Ron was an avid Red Sox, Celtic and New England Patriot fan. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his Tuesday and Wednesday night pool leagues. Jeanne May of 131 Decker Rd., Van Etten, NY, Went home to the arms of Jesus on October 25, 2001. She was a wife and homemaker for husband Daniel for 30 years. She was a mother of nine who faithfully home schooled her children in academics and in the knowledge of the Lord. She tried to live her life and guide her family by the Bible Scripture Isaiah 54:13. She was predeceased by her father, Jack Erwin Gray on January 10, 1985. Inez M. nee: Gunderman Age 85, formerly of Jerusalem Hill Rd., died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth. She enjoyed spending time with her family, square dancing, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elmira. Charles R. Age 78 of 1081 Plymouth Ave., Elmira, NY passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2001 unexpectedly at home. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence Haflett and Dorothy Haflett Packer and sisters Eva Butler and Dorothy Foster. He is survived by his wife Marjorie; daughter Cheryl Ann Mahoney of Elmira; stepchildren Ronald A. Stage of San Diego, CA and Sheryl L. Struble of Elmira; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Doris of Corning, Ralph and Ruth of Indianapolis, IN, Walter and Marge of Ashland, OH; sister Elsie R. Cambio of Elmira; 3 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Haflett was employed with the E-Z Shopper. He was a veteran of WW2 serving in the U.S. Army where he received 5 service medals, was a member and treasurer of F.O.E. #941, B.P.O.E. #62, VFW Post #901 and American Legion Post #443 all in Elmira. HAFLETT Sergeant Major William C.
Age 78, of Charles Street in Corning (Riverside), NY, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, January 4, 2008, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Elmira, NY, on December 25, 1929, to Clarence and Dorothy (Moran) Haflett. He served his country from 1951 to 1953 in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pelham in 1992. He married Major Doris Dancer in 1992. Bill had been employed as a jeweler by B.E. Company, Alpert's Jewelers, Jewel Box Store, JC Penney's, and Bong's in Corning. Bill is currently active with the Corning Salvation Army as the bookkeeper. He had also worked as an outreach worker for Steuben County Office of the Aging. He is survived by his wife, Major Doris; a son, Daniel Haflett of Corning; a sister, Elsie Cambio of Elmira; two sisters-in-law, Marj Haflett of Elmira and Ruth Haflett of Indianapolis; a brother, Walter (Marge) Haflett of Blasville, NY; four stepdaughters, Ruthanne (David) Bigler of Fayetteville, PA, Terry (Michael) Reade of Charlotte, NC, Joy Benishek of Fulton, NY, and Barbara Sherman of Fulton, NY; a stepson, Captain John (Geraldine) Dancer of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. HALL – Thirza E. Colby, 72, of 220 Tioga Ave., Corning, NY, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1989 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born March 4, 1917 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Cora Clark Hall. She was a retired employee of the Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY. Preceding her death was her husband Donald F. Colby.  Menzo D. Halsey, 75, Gillett RR 2, died Tuesday, October 13, 1992 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Mr. Halsey was a member of the VFW of South Creek, PA, a member of the Southport Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Jean E. Leona Marie Hannold, 93 years old, of 708 E. Clinton St., Elmira, NY, died peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was married to her late husband, Leo T. Kline, who died in 1958. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Stella Lola Kline; infant son, Leo Thomas Kline, Jr; son, George Kline; daughter, Emma Lou Kline Brink and her husband, Louis D. Brink. Her survivors include daughters, Barbara and her husband, the late Richard Kelley of Elmira, NY, Beverly and her husband, William Bigg of Horseheads, NY; son, Bernard and his wife, Carol Jean Kline of Lakemont, NY; daughters, Carol and her husband, Ronald Mills of Merrimac, MA, Pat and her husband, Edward Sassano of Cranberry Township, PA; son, Thomas and his wife, Stephanie Kline of Mainesburg, PA; daughters-in-law, Kathy Kline Garcia of El Cajon, CA, and Connie Kline of Elmira, NY; 35 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Leona worked for St. Joseph's Hospital doing what she loved best, nurturing newborn babies and their mothers. Her heart would leap for joy at the news of a baby on the way. This year there were five new babies born in Leona's family, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Leona loved to travel and on her 90th birthday she toured London and Paris. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful things for her family and friends. Leona especially loved her family and was very involved in each member's life. She had an open door policy with a hot cup of tea and fresh baked goodies to all who sought her loving care and wisdom. The little yellow house on East Clinton Street was a safe place to land when battling life's storms or to share a happy event. She loved to tell about her beloved Savior to all. (Hess) Harbol; daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Summers of Pine City, NY, Deborah Dickinson of Campbell, NY, Pamela Lattin of Elmira, NY, Maureen White of Elmira, and Laurie Ryan of Horseheads, NY; foster daughter, Evone (Paul) Daniels of Columbus, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Elsie) Harbol; and sister, Patricia (Ernest) Roucek of Pine City; brother-in-law, Glen Hess of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Robert was predeceased by infant son, Gary Lee; and infant great-grandson, Chad Robery; sister, Norma Jean Hess; brother and sister-in-law, John D. and Leah Harbol; nephews, Donald Louis Harbol, and Ernie T. Harbol; and son-in-law, John Lattin. Robert was a proud veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He continued his service with the National Guard -B Company, 27th Division 175th Armored Infantry retiring as a Staff Sargeant. He retired from Moore Business Forms. Robert was a life member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department and also a past president of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department and the New York -Penn Fireman's Association. He was a member of AARP and a member and past president of North County Seniors. PAUL A. HARDENSTINE.  A longtime resident of 534 Schuyler Ave., Elmira, N.Y., Paul A. Hardenstine went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at his home under the care of his family and Southern Tier Hospice.  Born on May 17, 1915 in Sayre to Peter and Alice Gowan Hardenstine, Paul was one of four brothers and eight sisters, who all predeceased him.  He spent 59 wonderful years of marriage with Ardis Hardenstine, who predeceased him this last February.  He was a machinist and foreman for Trayer Products.  His life-long calling has always been farming from his youth and throughout his life Paul enjoyed working in the soil and sharing his harvest with his neighbors.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family gatherings and time spent with his cherished friends.  He was a member of the Fassett Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family.  Surviving are his loving children, a daughter and son-in-law, Arleah and Elwin Fitch of Tucson, Ariz.; and a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Shirley Hardenstine of Athens; grandchildren, David Fitch, Paul Nicholas Hardenstine (Shelley Heerey) and Tammy Lou (Barry) Benefield; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron and Bryan Benfield, Chelsie Hardenstine, Caitlin, Joshua and Rachel Heerey; as well as nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received at Caywood’s funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport, N.Y., on Thursday, July 18, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will take place in the Fassett Baptist Church on Friday morning at 11 a.m. with his pastor and friend, the Rev. Of Horseheads, NY, Age 27, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008, the result of an automobile accident in the Town of Southport. He was born August 10, 1981 in Elmira, NY, the beloved son of Wayne D. and Joanne M. (McGlynn) Hart, who survive him. Other survivors include: brother, Michael D. Hart of Sunbury, PA and his son, Gavin; sisters, Aniesa (Jeff) Howe of Covington, GA and their children, Jennifer, Jessica, Jaqulynn, Joanne and Jillianne; Theresa Verity of Horseheads, NY and her children, Erik, Sasha and Ellizabeth; loving girlfriend, Annette Mickey of Gillett, PA and her children, Brooke and Savannah and her son, Nathan, who will be born in January; maternal grandfather, John McGlynn of Elmira, NY; paternal grandmother, June M. Hart of Elmira Heights, NY; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Chris was a dedicated employee of Cerebral Palsy & Handicapped Children's Association of Chemung County, Inc., where he passionately cared and taught his "kids". He was also a student at Corning Community College, where he was furthering his education in the automotive field. Chris loved the outdoors, especially camping with family and friends. He was an all around handy man and could fix anything. He absolutely enjoyed constructing cardboard boats for the regattas. MICHAEL W. ‘MIKEY’ HARTFORD, age 58, of 404 Division St., Elmira, NY.  He was born October 20, 1946, in Sayre, PA, to Reed Sr. and Janice (Parks) Hartford, and passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005, very unexpectedly.  He was predeceased by one sister and one brother.  He is survived by his parents, of Shunk, PA; loving wife of 38 years, Betty; children and their spouses, Mickie and Mark Weber, Rose and Brian Criss all of Elmira, Myron and Marlene Hartford of Batavia, NY, and Betty Jo and Jim Kimball of Lowman; sister and brothers, Chuck, Reed Jr., Paul, Ricky and Lila Hartford; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Mikey was employed with Dimon & Bacorn for 25 years.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.  Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. HARTMAN –MILDRED M. MAY, age 99, of Horseheads, NY died Monday, February 16, 2004 at Bethany Manor. Mrs. May was born February 7, 1905, the daughter of Henry and Lena Heib Hartman. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur May, infant daughter Doris Jean May, son-in-law Robert Carrigan, two great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. May is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ruth H. Mrs. May was a member of the Chemung Valley Grange, now the Horseheads Grange, for 75 years. She was also a member of the Lake Street Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. William J., Jr. Age 60, of 269 Curtis St., Elmira, NY. He was born March 12, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late William J., Sr. and Rhoda (Phillips) Hastings and passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005, unexpectedly at home. He is survived by his wife, Sonja J. (Fairbanks) Hastings; children, Cole Hastings of Pine City and Bralyn Harvey at home; former wife, Cathy Hastings of Poughkeepsie, NY; stepchildren, Ralph and Debbie Harvey, William and Tracey Harvey, Jessie and Regina Harvey, Pamela (Harvey) and Chris House, Thomas and Kelli Huyck, all of TN; one grandson; eight step grandchildren; sisters, Carol Deluca of Lexington, SC and Holly Jones of Union Beach, NJ; mother-in-law, Phyllis Fairbanks of Elmira; and dear friend, Dan Weston of Elmira.            Irene M. Retired Employee of St. Joseph's Hospital Age 87, formerly of Elmira,  NY passed away Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the home of her daughter in  Dresden, NY. Surviving are her children, William A. (Nancy) Loftus of Winfield, IL, Gerald J. (Joanne) Loftus of Queensbury, NY and Beverly J. Loftus and her friend,  Jack Parmelee of Dresden, NY; 7 grandchildren, William S. Loftus, Wendy L.  Vorreiter, Julie A. Hays, Peter D. Loftus, Andrea S. MacDougall, Christine A. Loftus and Rebecca L. Loftus; 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah C. Vorreiter, Elizabeth R. Vorreiter and Emily R. Mac Dougall; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her husband, William Loftus; a brother, Wilbur Haviland; and a sister, Gretchen Lewis. Irene was a longtime member of  the Centenary United Methodist Church; other memberships include, Penn Yan Chapter 1519 Women of the Moose and Harmony Loyal Chapter of the Order of  the Eastern Star. K. Therese (Hofbauer) Age 89, of Elmira, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, August 30, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Therese currently resided at Woodbrook, but had previously lived on Camden Avenue in Horseheads. She was born June 29, 1918, a daughter of Joseph and Katherine Baumann Hofbauer. Therese is predeceased by her husband, Milton W. Meriwether; brothers, John, Clement and Owen Hofbauer; sister, Ann Enyedy; and son-in-law, Michael Oakley. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent J. (Donna) Meriwether of Round Rock, TX, F. Joseph (Nancy) Meriwether of Elmira, NY, Leslie P. (Sandi) Meriwether of Clearwater, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie A. (Stephen) Bonning of Baltimore, MD, Kathy A. Oakley of Elmira, NY and Carol A. (Paul) Griggs of Wynantskill, NY; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wayne Thomas of Towanda, PA; niece, Karen (Robert Breunig) Enyedy of Flagstaff, AR, along with several other nieces and nephews. Therese grew up on her family's hilltop farm in Pine City. The land is now the site of Mount Saviour Monastery. A graduate of Elmira College, Therese was a home/substitute teacher in the Elmira and Horseheads School Districts. She had a great love of the outdoors, enjoying walking, bird watching and gardening. A devout Catholic her entire life, Therese was a long time communicant and active member of St. Charles Borremeo Church, before joining Ss. Peter & Paul Church in the mid 1980's. Randall O. 'Randy' Jr. Retired Police Officer Age 80, of Chester Street, Elmira, NY. Randy was born October 28, 1924 in Berwick, PA, the son of the late Randall O. and Mary (Sult) Holden Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. His son, Glen Holden; and his brother, Gerald Holden, also predeceased Randy. HOTCHKISS Jack S.
Age 78, died at the Buffalo VA on December 18, 2007. Jack was born in Elmira, NY on November 12, 1929. He spent his life as a painter and decorator. He loved animals, especially his cats. Mr. Hotchkiss was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Irene, in 1999. They enjoyed fishing together. He is survived by his sisters, June Wilcox of Elmira, Edith Tallman of Newfield; and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He served his country during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was a steadfast member of the American Legion and enjoyed many friendships. Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - Age 75, of Erin, NY went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Warren J. RICHARD G. HUNSINGER Of Elmira Heights Age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL. He was born on March 31, 1923 in Dushore, PA, the son of the late Harry and Agnes (Karge) Hunsinger. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hila (Stoddard) Hunsinger; children, Wanda and Leon McGrain of Horseheads, NY, Linda and Randy Little of Lakeland, FL, Pamela and Verne Stage of Caton, NY, Carolyn and predeceased son, Raulston Hunsinger of Hickory, NC; sisters, Frances Kingsley, Evalda Black, Emily Rohe; brother, Harry Hunsinger; many nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren. Richard was a veteran of WW II, having received two purple hearts, and a member of the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post #154 of Elmira Heights. HURLBURT –DOROTHY EDITH (HURLBURT) BUCK of Elmira, NY Age 67, went to be with God April 14, 2005 peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born August 23, 1937 to the late Clara (Williams), who passed away in 1987, and Albert Hurlburt, Sr., in 1999. She is survived by her loving children, sons, Clifford Jr. and Wanda Carpenter of Aumsville, OR, William Carpenter and Nancy Kelly of Elmira; daughters, Christine and Robert Englemen of Schuylkill Haven, PA, Lynn Buck and Paul Kujawski of Elmira, Jodie Buck of Elmira, and Rodie Buck and Damon Chalk of Elmira; brothers, Steve and Albert; sisters, Mable, June, Clara, Sharon; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter, Georgia Ann Debaridinis, in 1979. Dorothy spent most of her life raising her children. She became a foster parent to many since 1997, she loved and cared for them as her own; especially Latricia, Gordon, Andy, Ashlie, and Alissa. It was Dorothy's request that there be no calling hours. HUTCHINSON - BATES, Mary Elizabeth
Age 88 of Horseheads, passed away after an illness Wed., July 23, 2008. She was born Nov. 3, 1919 in York, PA, the daughter to the late James and Bertha (Hamme) Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her husband, Earle Bates in 1975. She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Ronald) Beeman of Horseheads, NY, Doris (George) Krauss of Horseheads, NY, Jeanne (David) Barton of Lowman, NY; grandchildren, Michelle (Patrick) Hildreth, Alicia Beeman, Michael (Tracie) Felenchak; great-grandchildren, Shawn Welsh, Haileigh and Sydney Hildreth, Trevor and Dawson Felenchak; and several nieces and one nephew. She was the youngest of 10 children who have all predeceased her. Mary was a longtime resident of Horseheads and Elmira Heights having resided in both Victory Heights and Villa Serene. She was longtime employee of Weiss Construction in Big Flats. At her request, her service officiated by the Rev. Robert Finch will take place privately at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park beside her late husband. ISAACS Edward S. Sr. Age 97, of Catalpa Dr., Horseheads, NY, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Mr. Isaacs was born in Armenia Mtn., PA, on Aug. 5, 1909, the son of the late Richard and Lydia (Wines) Isaacs. He was a retired Equipment Operator with the Chemung County Highway Department, a member of Horseheads Moose and former member of Horseheads Elks. He was also a devoted NY Yankee fan. ISAACS Richard B. Age 62, of Fisherville Rd., Elmira, NY. He was born May 19, 1944 in Elmira, NY, to David J. and Ann S. (Ringwalski) Isaacs and passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, very unexpectedly at home. He was predeceased by his father, David J. Isaacs on April 10, 1973; and brother, David E. Isaacs on August 8, 1951. Richard is survived by his mother, Ann S. Isaacs of Elmira; daughter, Melanie (George Valimont) Isaacs with children, Heather, Sean and Tyler; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Joseph Mustico with children, Collin and Daniel, Peggysue and Thomas Potter with children, Paul, Mary Katherine and Nicholas; and although separated at the time of his death, his wife of 40 years, Nancy C. Isaacs, all of Elmira; sisters, Joann (Robert) Decker of North Fork, CA, and Barbara (Vincent) Williams of Groton, CT; brother, Jack Isaacs; along with several nieces, a nephew, cousins and many, many friends. Richard was employed by the Chemung County Highway Department as a mechanic and was looking forward to retirement in September 2006. He was a past member of the Masons and Elmira Grotto. JEBBETT - BARNES
Edith Mabel (Jebbett) (Barnesie) A lifelong resident of Southport, NY, passed away January 31, 2006 at Bethany Manor on her 93rd birthday. She was born in England on January 31, 1913 to Ernest and Mabel Jebbett, who preceded her in death. Edith immigrated to the United States in 1913 on the Lusitania and married Joseph Frederick Barnes on December 31, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also predeceased by her son, Private First Class Richard Barnes in 1966; two grandsons, Richard Barnes and Scott Barnes; along with several other family members. Edith is survived by her sons, David (Nancy), Ronald (Sheila), Gerald and Fred (Sheila); daughters, Mary (Tommie) Osenbaugh, Alberta (Kenneth) Andrus; brothers, Ernest and Stanley Jebbett; sister, Alice Gallanger; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and good friends, Betty Aiken, Loretta Howe, and Ellen Carpenter. Edith was well known for her smile and great disposition. She was very proud of her children. Edith worked many years at the former Iszards, the former Sears Warehouse, and Gibson's Vineyards. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends. She also loved to go to church, and attended Elmira Wesleyan Church. She loved gospel music and her flower garden. DANIEL T. JENKINS SR., age 84 of 118 Renwick Lane Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday March 25, 2001 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Daniel was born September 27, 1916 in Blossburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late Thomas Carlyle Jenkins and Ruth Putnam Jenkins. He married his beloved wife, Mary Pabis Jenkins, on August 15, 1934 and they would have celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary on August 15, 2001. He was the former owner of Danny's Coffee Pot in Elmira, NY and Danny's Grocery on Sing Sing Road in Horseheads, NY. Mr. Jenkins was the past president of I. Putnam, Inc. in Elmira, NY. His love and kindness for his family and friends as well as his zest for life endeared him to all. He will be truly missed by those who loved him and called him their friend. Dan was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother, George W. Poley, and his sister, Barbara Ann (Mrs. William) Morse. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Pabis Jenkins; his children: Daniel T. (Delores) Jenkins Jr. of Elmira, NY, Michael S. (Esther) Jenkins of Pocomoke, Maryland, Gail M. DAILEY, 76, of Horseheads, NY died on April 6, 1997, at her home.  Effie was born Nov. 7, 1920, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Austin) Jennings.  She had worked as an assembler at Remington Rand in Elmira.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor Jennings of West Burlington, PA; niece, Evelyn (Dan) Updike of Hamlin, NY; nephew, Harry Jennings of Tampa, FL; great-nieces, Mattie (Joel) Zarpentine of Holley, NY; Brenda (Brian) Davis of Italy; great-nephew, Dan Updike of Gillett, PA; Bradley Jennings of FL; special great-great nephew, Eli Zarpentine t home; dear friends, Irene Radaker of Horseheads; Andy Vargason of Elmira Heights; Jeanline and Raymond Perine of Owego; and numerous card playing Euchre buddies.  Mrs. Dailey was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Dailey, in 1984 and her brother, Raymond Jennings, in 1986.  Friends are invited to call at the barber Funeral Home 413 S. Age 71, of Millport, NY, and formerly of Horseheads, NY, passed away Saturday morning, September 1, 2007, after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late William and Verna Soper Jerzak. Nellie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph Castellano. She retired with Joseph as owner of Joe's Exterminating Co. in Horseheads, NY. She is survived by granddaughter, Ashley Castellano and daughter-in-law, Michele Castellano of Concord, NC; stepchildren, son, Joseph T. Castellano of Bakerfield, CA, daughter, Patricia (David) Camacho of Chatsworth, CA, Marsha (Jim) Pinkston of Old Hickory, TN; sister, Barbara (Ron) Earnest of Lowman, NY; brother, Martin Jerzak Sr. of Erin, NY, Floyd (Sharon) Jerzak of Davenport, FL; grandchildren, Kelly, Joelle, Kimberly, Christine and Michael; nine great-grandchildren plus one expected later this month and many nieces, nephew and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her son, Harold (Willie) Castellano; sister, Marian Steckler; brothers, William Jr. (Bill) and Eugene (Mike) Jerzak. Nellie was a 25 year member of the Horseheads Moose Club and a member of the Horseheads American Legion. She was also an avid card player, loved her family and enjoyed entertaining her many friends. JESSUP   Harold L. Loving husband, father and grandfather Age 82, formerly of Crestview Drive West, Pine City, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2005, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility where he most recently resided. He was born November 10, 1923 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Francis E. and Hermina 'Minnie' (Bauer) Jessup. Harold married Marguerite Greenwalt January 21, 1950 at the Oakwood United Methodist Church in Elmira Heights, NY. They have enjoyed celebrating 55 wonderful years of life and love together. He is also survived by his beloved children, Marcia (Dennis) Boor of Elmira, NY, Laurie Jessup of Raleigh, NC, Michael (Amy) Jessup of Scotia, NY, Melanie (Robert) Cassarly of Elmira, NY; much loved grandchildren, Kelli (Brett) French, Jeremy Boor and Ryan Boor all of Elmira, NY, Kelsey Jessup and Skyler Jessup both of Scotia, NY; sister, Donna Jean Benedict of Fort Myers, FL; brother, Walter (Patricia) Jessup of Caton, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Harold was a Veteran of the US Navy and proudly served his country from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Elmira for many years. He was also a member of the Lakewood Sportsman Club 'Jolly Boys' and the 'Billy Club'. Mr. Jessup retired from the Town of Southport after 14 years of dedicated service as the Assessor. Harold started Elmira Photo, which eventually turned into Benson, Jessup and Knapp Sporting Goods Store. At his request, all services will be privately held at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, followed by interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Jessup full Military Honors. JONES - NICHOLS  Mary Lou Age 78, formerly of Cross Fork, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at her home in Pine City, NY, surrounded by her loving family following a long courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth Jones. Mary Lou was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald B. "Hap" Nichols; sister, Doris; brother, Arthur, and great-grandson, Joshua Logan Nichols. She is survived by her two sons, Donald W. (Michele) Nichols, J. ERNEST (ERNIE) JUNE, age 72 of Elmira, NY, very unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 22, 1997 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY.  Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Ward June; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lynn June of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Rothchild of Horseheads, NY; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Ernie owned and operated the Ernie June Drive Shaft Repair shop in Elmira for over 45 years.  He was an expert welder who built many race cars, model airplanes and saw mills.  This season would have been Ernie’s 50th year in Modified and super modified racing.  He raced at many area pavement and dirt tracks including Owego, Corning Stadium, Chemung Speed Drome, and Oswego Speedway.  Ernie was a devoted family man who was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone.  He loved animals of all varieties.  Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Penna. Ave., Elmira, NY, Friday, 5-7 p.m., with a memorial service to be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 7:00 p.m. Rev.
