VANAMBURG
Jesse G. A longtime resident of Southport went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, May 14, 2006 at his home in the care of his loving family following an illness at the age of 85. Born on December 18, 1920 in Horseheads, Jesse was the son of Jesse G. & Florence Dilmore VanAmburg. He was a loving husband and companion to Rena Mae Rickner for over 62 years. Together they raised a loving and Christian family who cherish his memory, his children, Roy VanAmburg, Campbell; Patricia & Roger Pollen, Elmira; and Eileen & David Batrony, Southport; four grandchildren, James (Colleen) Pollen; Kathy Pollen, Jeffery Ripley Jr. and Jessica Batrony; two great grandchildren, Kyle and Darren Pollen; brothers, Raymond VanAmburg and George Blanchard, both of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews. Jesse was predeceased by is daughter-in-law, Donna VanAmburg on June 30, 2003; his brother, Robert VanAmburg and his sisters, Lillian McCarthy and Zella Tidwell. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was employed for many years by American LaFrance and also by A&P Foods. In serving the Lord he was a long time member of the Elmira Christian Center. He found great enjoyment while fishing at his family's cottage on Lamoka Lake. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport this evening, Tuesday May 16, 2006 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Caywood's following the visitation at 8:15 p.m. with the Reverend Belvy White officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY at his families' convenience. Jesse's family requests that memorials be directed to the Elmira Christian Academy, 235 East Miller St., Elmira, NY 14904, in his memory.

VANDERPOOL - Andrew C. Vanderpool, age 79 of 1050 Charles St., Elmira, formerly of Oak St., January 19, 1981 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Friends may call at the Barrett Funeral Home Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held there Wednesday 2 p.m. The Rev. Kent Lattimer officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park. He is survived by six sons, Andrew, Forest and Wesley, all of Elmira, Garfield of Nichols, Rodney of Illinois and Orien of Waverly; five daughter, Pearl Hitchcock of Norwich, Any Daugherty of Elmira, Ann Snowberg of Pine City, Louise Snowberg of Erin, NY and Joyce Myers of Killowagg, NY; two brothers, Orie Vanderpool of Elmira and Leonard Vanderpool of Syracuse; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousins. VANDERPOOL Richard, Sr. Avid Fisherman Was born February 12, 1936 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Jesse J. and Ethel L. (Avery) Vanderpool, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2006, peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. His loving wife, Elizabeth Mae (Andrus) Vanderpool; beloved brother, Clyde Vanderpool predeceased him. He is survived by his much-loved children, Richard Vanderpool Jr. of Bath, NY, Will H. Vanderpool of Elmira, NY, Edward R. Andrus of Addison, NY, Pollyann Vanderpool of Hornell, NY; brother, Robert Vanderpool of Elmira, NY; sister, Joan Messinger of Elmira, NY; along with three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no calling hours. Interment will take place privately and at the convenience of the family in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one's choice in Richard's memory. VANDERS - MORSE
Evelyn Of Elmira, NY Was born April 10, 1912 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of the late Jessie and Nellie (McNeal) Vanders, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2007, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where she received the utmost love and care. Her beloved daughter, Ervilla Holton predeceased her. She is survived by her loving son, LaVerne Brown of Elmira Heights, NY; much loved grandchildren, Clifford Brown, Michelle (Don) Shipley, Michael (Tina) Brown and Tracey (Chris) Pearson; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a faithful volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital for many dedicated years. VanSCHOICK GRABOWSKI
Sharon Passed away on Sunday evening October 7, 2001 at her home in Elmira Heights, NY in the care of her loving family and friends following a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 44. Born on December 12, 1957 in Elmira, NY, Sharon was the daughter of Gerald and Patricia Verguson VanSchoick. She married Thomas Grabowski on August 29, 1981. Sharon was a long time member of the Northside Community Evangelical Church where she was an active member, Chairperson of Christian Education and Sunday School Superintendent. She taught in the Ladies Adult Class and was involved in many other church functions. Sharon cherished the time she spent with her husband and daughter, with her family and friends, her devoted New Foundland, "Maximilian Gee", working on crafts and caring for her home. Her loving family survive her, husband, Thomas Grabowski and loving daughter and best friend, Kelly Grabowski of Elmira Heights, NY; a granddaughter, Mariah Lee Spivey of Elmira Heights, NY; her parents, mother and stepfather, Patricia and James Henry Drake of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her father, Gerald VanSchoick of Horseheads, NY; her grandmother, Florence VanSchoick of Horseheads, NY; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laurie and Michael Andrus of Elmira Heights, NY; and Heather and Moktar Mehenni of New York City, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Deborah VanSchoick, James Robert and Shanon Drake; a brother, Eddie Joe VanSchoick all of Myrtle Beach, SC; Timothy and Mary Drake of Goldsboro, NC; and David Wayne VanSchoick of Elmira, NY; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Joseph Grabowski of Elmira Heights, NY; sisters-in-law, Carol (Steve) Cardamone of Painted Post, NY; and Pam (Ken) Lewis of Elmira Heights, NY; nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. VanSLYKE - LEWIS
Flossie May (Florence) 93, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday evening, December 11, 2001 at the Bradford County manor, West Burlington, PA. She was born April 4, 1908 in Oxford, NY, the daughter of Franklyn and Bertha Rathbun VanSlyke. She was a long time resident of the Elmira, NY area and was a member of the Lake Street Presbyterian Church. Many will remember Flossie as an excellent saleswoman for Avon Cosmetics. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Joel Emerson Lewis in 1995. They enjoyed their retirement years in Tavares, Florida, where they were members of the Union Congregational Church. She is survived by children, June (Rev. Richard) Drehmer of Princeton, MA and Jay (Shirley) Lewis of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira, NY at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be directed to the Bradford County Manor Activities Fund.

VANZILE LILLIE M. QUACKENBUSH (SRGP 74632)
Lillie M. - Age 100, went to be with her Lord on April 29, 2007. She was predeceased by her father and mother, James and Clara Vanzile; her husband, Robert Quackenbush; her brother, Raymon Vanzile; her daughter, Barbara DePue; her stepson, Ernest Quackenbush. She is survived by grandsons and their wives, John and Susan DePue, William and Elizabeth DePue, Richard and Susi DePue; and granddaughter, Donna Davenport. Lillie is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Auxiliary American Legion Post 154 and a member of the Westside United Methodist Church for 78 years. She was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Calling hours will be at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, on Friday, May 4, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with funeral and committal there at 8:00 p.m. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will provide their own flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillie's name to the Westside United Methodist Church, 744 W. First Street, Elmira, NY 14905.

VINCENT - WINFIELD, Rachel L.
Age 91 of Elmira, NY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. Rachel was born on July 22, 1916 in Towanda, PA, daughter of the late Burton and Mary (Heeman) Vincent. Rachel worked at the Mark Twain Hotel and retired from the YMCA as a cook. She attended and played the organ for the Sullivan Street Mission for over 30 years. She loved and cherished all of her family. Rachel had a close relationship with her great-grandson, Scott Kinner, from whom she raised from birth. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, James Winfield; daughter, Cora "Dolly" Macri; sister, Rose Perry; grandchildren, Kenny (Rosie) Kinner, Margaret Kinner, Cindy Cubero, Debbie Ames and Vincent Macri; great-grandchildren, Scott (Teaira) Kinner, Tammy Kinner, Edward (Rachal) Cubero, Mickey Kinner, Kenny, Jeff, Daisy Kinner, Christopher Wadley, Toni Kinner; 14 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces; special friend, Larry Hoyt. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Glen E. Age 82, well known resident of Pine City, NY. Founder/Owner of Waight Supply Co. & Southern Tier Coverting Co. Passed away Thursday, January 24, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Glen was born the son of the late Edward M. and Addie Potter Waight, May 2oth, 1919 in Jasper, NY. His loving wife who he cherished 57 years, Daisy Page Waight of Pine City, survives him. Step Son James Page of Pine City; Step grandchildren James Page Jr.; Penny and Teena Page of Pine City; Spring Page of Daltona, Fl; Great grandson Douglas Page of Pine City; Brothers-in-law Kenneth (Carolyn) Page of Endwell, NY John (Thelma) Page of Montour Falls, NY; Sisters-in-law Lillian (Harold) Sechrest of Pine City; Ruth Ripley of Elmira; Katherine Perkowski of Elmira and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Glen was predeceased by his loving parents Edward and Addie, Sister Eva VanSkiver; brothers-in-law Raymond Page; Russell Page; John Riley; and Stanley Perkowski. After the war Glen was employed as an accountant for the Coca Cola Plant before going to work for Hubbs and Howe Paper Co. in the field of sales. In 1952, with the loving support of his wife Daisy, they founded Waights Supply Co. and the Southern Tier Coverting Co. both of Elmira for 20 years; after which was sold to the Mead Corp. Glen was an avid golfer and bowler. He and his wife Daisy loved the many years of camping and the fellowship with themembers in the Southern Tier Wheelers #108. Glen will be missed by many. Glen's spirit of professionalism and love of life will live on through all who knew him.

WAKEFIELD - BURLEW, Marie Anna (Wakefield)
Went to be with her Lord April 20, 2008. She was born May 4, 1918 on O'Hanlon St. in Horseheads. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Merton L. Burlew. She is survived by her sons and their families: son, Merton Tom and Barbara Burlew; grandchildren, Theresa and Scott Beach, Diana and Fred Durfee, Dawn and Rodney Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Shelly and Edward Rozell, Russell Beach with his fiancé, Christine Kalina, Lauren Beach with her fiancé, Joshua Ring, Joshua Durfee, Benjamin Durfee, Sheena Durfee with her friend, John, Sydney Schmidt; son, Daniel G. and Hazel Burlew; grandchildren, Shane Burlew, Daryl and Christine Burlew, Marietta and Scotty Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Burlew and A.J. Burlew and Daniel Burlew, Shane Burlew and Ashley Burlew, Shaina Ferguson and Alaina Ferguson; brother, John and Irene Wakefield; sister-in-law, Anna Wakefield; brother-in-law, Jim and Irene Burlew. Marie was also predeceased by her parents, Archie and Anna Wakefield; brother, Daniel Wakefield; and sister, Helen McConnell. Marie loved her home and family in Lowman and always loved her garden with beautiful roses and irises. She milked cows along side her husband, Merton, for many years. She liked canning fruits and vegetables and belonged to the North Chemung United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY, today, Tues., April 22, 2008, from 6-8:00. Her service will take place at the funeral home on Wed., April 23, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Anne L. Mowery to officiate. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Family would like to thank the Physicians of IMAS and the nurses on 2D at St. Joseph's Hospital who made her last days full of love and great caring. WALKER CAROL L. GRIFFIN
Carol L. (Walker) Town of Southport Resident Was born August 10, 1956 in Elmira, NY the daughter of Charles and Beverly (Kiser) Walker, passed away very unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 50. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Walker; and her brother, Charles Walker Jr. She is survived by her beloved mother, Beverly; loving children, Howard (Melissa) Mattison, Christopher Walker, Joseph Walker, Brenda Griffin; and step daughter, Carlietta Griffin, all of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Bryce, Devon and Paradise; dearly-loved siblings, John (Marsha) Walker, Daniel (Sharon) Walker, Jo-Ellen (Walker) Briggs, David (Tina) Walker and Thomas (Debra) Walker, all of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. WANDELL –DELLA W. TILLOTSON age 74 of 13 West Water St., Elmira, NY, Saturday, June 14, 1997.  Mrs. Tillotson was born May 12, 1923 the daughter of Floyd B. and Virginia Mae Williams Wandell.  She was a former employee of the Arnot Ogden Hospital of Elmira, NY.  Mrs. Tillotson was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.  She was predeceased by her son, David Terwilliger on June 14, 1975 and was also predeceased by her daughter, Diane Kaiser on June 14, 1987.  She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Robert L. Hancock Jr. of Horseheads, NY, Kristine and Michael Palko of Breesport, NY; 7 grandchildren; brother, Andy Wandell of Pine Valley, NY; several stepchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.  Relatives and friends are invited to call at the VanBuskirk-Lynch Funeral Home, Mill St. and Grand Central Ave., Horseheads, NY Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m.  Mrs. Tillotson’s funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 8 p.m., her pastor, the Rev. Shirley Jean (Wandell) Age 69 of Elmira, NY formerly of Athens, PA Friday December 7, 2001 at the home of her brother and Sister in-law Robert and Julia Wandell with family at her side. Shirley was the daughter of Clarence and Jennie (Campbell) Wandell and stepdaughter of Alice (Cole) Wandell. Her husband of 41 years, Roy Lewis Theetge Sr. predeceased her in 1992. Shirley is survived by Sons: Roy Lewis (Hae Kyong) Jr., and Gary (Linda) Theetge Daughter: Roseann (Mark) Arnold; Grandchildren: Melissa (Jason) Matthews, Michelle (Chuck) Butler, Jennifer (Eduardo) Garcia, Steven (Terri) Arnold, Shawn, Christopher, Kimberly and Brian Theetge, Kayla Korcz; Great Grandchildren, Desirae and Emelia Butler and Anthony Garcia. Brothers and Sisters In-law: Robert and Julia Wandell, Clair and Linda Wandell, Sister and Brother In-law, Marilyn and DeWayne Vinson. Several nieces, nephews and many close and dear friends. Shirley worked for the Cash & Carry in Horseheads, NY for 15 years. Prior to that she was the owner of Shirley's Grocery Store on Henry St. in Elmira, NY. She enjoyed traveling and researching genealogy. WANDS –FONDA M. (DEERY) VANDERPOEL, 60 year resident of Kelly Hill, Pine City, NY.  Fonda was blessed into the peaceful hand of her Lord, Sunday, June 22nd, 2003, of Elcor Heath Services in Horseheads, NY.  Born February 156h, 1917 in Elmira, NY; the loving daughter of the late Phillip G. and Inez M. Goodwin Wands.  She is survived by her dear husband and caregiver of 39 years, Arthur (Art) Vanderpoel of Pine City, NY; daughters Joyce Ginnan of Pine City, NY, Frances (Jim) Sproule of Horseheads, NY; sons, Frank (Angela) Deery of Crewe, VA, Phillip (Tana) Deery of Wellsboro, PA; 13 cherished grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.  Fonda is predeceased by her first husband, Howard Deery; son-in-law, Earl Ginnan; daughter-in-law; Elaine Rubneski Deery; great-grandson, Noah Bailey; and brother, Francis Bodewes.  Being a lifelong resident of Southport, Fonda graduated from the Southside High School.  After her graduation she worked as a proof reader for Artistic Card, until she began what would be lifetime career that she loved because she was giving back to the community she loved.  As a secretary for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County, 4-H Division, she was able to help so many young people start careers that where fruitful for our area.  Fonda never fell short of giving to her community.  She was a very active member of the Millerton United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for over 39 years.  Not only did she provide beautiful music for her own church, she also was well known for playing in many others in the area, including the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church in Pine City.  She never limited herself to just Sunday services, but added her own love to many wedding services.  Fonda was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She loved to cook, bake and crochet various items including sweaters, afghans, throws, and countless baby clothes.  Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Wednesday, June 25th, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and again at the Millerton United Methodist Church, Millerton, PA, on Thursday, June 26th, 2003, from 10 to 11 a.m.  Funeral services will be held there at 11 a.m.  Lay Minister Jennifer Wolf and rev. WARD –DOROTHEA B. ‘DOTTY’ MCKEE, Elcor Colonial Ridge Resident.  Was born July 15, 1917 in Leolyn, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Leah (Irving) Ward, and passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005, peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Her loving husband of 37 years, roger H. McKee in 1971; beloved son, Bruce R. McKee in 1978; brother, Harry E. Ward; and sister, Eleanor Striker, predeceased Dorothea.  She is survived by her loving son, Larry W. ELLIOTT Marcella Kathryn (Warters) ("Marcy" or "Sally") Age 76, of Elmira (Southport), began to walk the Streets of Glory, April 6, 2006. Loving wife, devoted mother, nurturing grandma, caring mother-in-law, Marcy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Mort Elliott; her daughters, Carol (Jim) Hosley, Bonnie (Bobby) Barfield, and Valerie Szostek; her grandchildren, Melanie Baldwin, Christian Saunders, Ray Barfield, and Kathryn Barfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins; one aunt, Mildred Raplee in Texas; and sister-in-law, Arleen Warters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Edna Warters; and brothers, Jackie, Albert (LaMae), and Lynn Warters. Her natural gifts, talents and skills as a wife, mother, musician and friend were beyond description. She had a wisdom about life that was a great source of inspiration to all who knew her. During her children's formative years, Marcy devoted all of her time to her family. Most of the rest of her adult life, she also worked outside the home. Lucinda Watts Age 94, went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning, February 4, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Lucinda was a long time resident of Flannery Apartments on Elmira's Southside. Born on October 22, 1911, she was one of several children of Norman & Julia Easton Watts. She worked as a nurses aide at the Chemung County Nursing Facility when located in Breesport, NY and also was well known as a crossing guard in later years on S. Main St. and Curtis St. Lucinda loved to write poetry and won several awards from the National Library of Poetry, including Golden Poet Award for 1988. Surviving is her loving family who cherish her memory, a son and daughter-in-law, William & Barbara Wigsten, Millerton, PA a daughter and son-in-law, Judina & Purl Stevens, Gillett, PA granddaughters, Robin (Wayne) Niles, Horseheads; Kimberly (Rich) Pettitt, Canisteo; a grandson, Mark (June) Stevens, Knoxville, TN; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (Beverly) Watts, Nashville, TN; several nieces, nephews including a special nephew, Judd (Nancy) Thompson, Burlington, KS; and wonderful family friends. WERTMAN - GUSTIN    Florence C. (Wertman) Age 91, passed away on November 24, 2005 at the Oneonta Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Oneonta, NY. Florence was born on October 30, 1914 in Watsontown, PA, one of five children to Ervin and Flora Wertman. Florence spent her childhood in Pennsylvania before moving to Elmira, NY. She married Harold R. Gustin in 1937 and later moved to Manlius, NY, where they raised their six children before retiring to Oklahoma in 1971. Florence spent the last 15 years living in New York State with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1985; son, Lee, in 1988; brother, Charles Wertman; and three sisters, Kathryn (Frank) Utter, Dorothy (George) Merle and Betty (Edward) Bennett. Florence is survived by her sons, Richard Gustin and special friend, Theresa Kogut of Fabius, NY and Dan Gustin of Stevenson Ranch, CA; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Robert Lincoln of Maryland, NY, Nancy and Ralph Sanders of St. Augustine, FL and Marsha and Lynn Ketcham of Manlius, NY; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Helen, 81, a longtime resident of Elmira passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, where she had been living for some time. A family person, Helen made quilts for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed puzzles and Bingo. "Mag", A loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, April 26, 2008 at Troy Community Hospital following an illness, at the age of 72, with her family by her side. Born on September 20, 1935 in Troy, PA Mag was the daughter of Francis & Lula Coakley Wilcox. She was married to James R. Vandegrift on June 15, 1957 and he predeceased her in 1973. Left with the task of raising a large family, Mag embraced her job as a mother and took very seriously the importance of education. Active in her community she enjoyed the many friendships she nurtured. She was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church in Troy and also enjoyed reading. WILSON Tremaine E. Age 88, of Millerton, PA, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004, at Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira, following a long illness. Tremaine was born December 30, 1915 in Staley, North Carolina. He moved to New York with his family in 1918. Tremaine was a respected carpenter in and around Elmira, having built numerous houses, barns, and other buildings. He also raised dairy cattle on a farm outside Breesport. For many years, Tremaine and his wife, Eleanor, performed as musicians in Elmira and the surrounding area, he on guitar and harmonica and she on the accordion. Upon retiring, Tremaine remained active as a woodworker into his 80s. He was also an avid reader. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Eleanor, of Millerton; beloved children, Camille (Melvin) Cummings of Kennesaw, GA, Terry (Patsy) Wilson of Dillard, GA, and Connie Wilson of Elmira, NY; brothers, William (Lasca) Wilson of Elmira, NY, and Carl (Cecelia) Wilson of Lakeland, FL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. BRAGG Carolyn Age 91, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit. Carolyn was born on October 23, 1914 to the late John and Annie Woermbke. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Bragg; and by her grandson, Joe Comfort, Sr. Survivors include son, Larry Comfort, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Comfort, of Elmira; granddaughter, Kelley (Norman) Gervais of Vandergrift, PA; great-grandchildren, Joe, Jr., Somer and Stacy Comfort, Jennifer and Rebecca Gervais, Carla and Michael Shearer; two great-great grandchildren, Destiny Marie and Julienna; and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards with her niece and good friend, Mary Lou Woermbke. Carolyn worked for many years at Remington Rand and after that at the Chemung County Infirmary. She and her husband, Charlie, enjoyed many years of bowling together and traveling all over the country. In later years, she and Charlie were both school crossing guards together. Carolyn was a longtime member of Riverside Methodist Church and enjoyed her Bible Study group. The family would like to thank the Staff on the 3rd floor Skilled Nursing Unit at St. Joseph's for their loving care.      Betty J. (Wood) Colony, 61, of Wheaton Rd., RD#1, Erin, N.Y., died Monday, Aug. 31, 1987, at the Arnot-Ogden Hospital.  She was a member of the Breesport Baptist Church.  Mrs. Colony was also a former employee of the NYS Dept. of Corrections and a retired employee of Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N.Y.  In November, 1966, her husband, Robert, died.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Debra Colony of Elmira, N.Y.; her mother, Mrs. Hazel Wood of Erin, N.Y.; several grandchildren, Jeremy, Christine, Faith, Brian, Joy, Robert and Adam Colony; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Ray Sumner of Mansfield, Leona and Sayre Treat and Ann and Clifton Truax, all of Erin, N.Y., and Barbara and Donald Kraft of Bath, N.Y.; a brother, Paul Wood of Penna, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral and committal services will be held at the Breesport Baptist Church today (Sept. 2) at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Age 79, of Elmira, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Ken was born February 12, 1928, son of Raymond and Margaret Lyons Wood. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Spencer Wood. Ken is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda T. and Norm Theetge of Lowman, with their son, Michael; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth S. and Sue Wood of Elmira, with their son, Christopher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd "Bud" and Catherine Wood of Elmira, and Robert and Donna Wood of Horseheads; step-children, Augustus Eugene VanOrden of Florida, Patricia Ann Wilson of Elmira, and Pamela Lee Spencer Beck of Ohio; along with several nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Ken started his working career at the Mark Twain Hotel. He was then a long time employee with American LaFrance. When American LaFrance closed, Ken worked for Elm Chevrolet for a short time. Gary worked at Thatcher Glass for many years; he then worked as a machinist for Corning Inc. for the past 20 years, leaving many dear friends. Isabelle I. Age 92, a former resident of Villa Serene, Elmira Heights, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira. She was born March 27, 1913 in Elmira Heights, the daughter of John and Amelia Yanczyk Woznick. She was a life member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and a member of RSVP. She worked for many years at the Elmira Knitting Mill and retired from Nichols Discount City. Isabelle lived an active and vibrant life evidenced by her love of the NY Yankees. Age 79, of Elmira, NY, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. Florence was born on May 28, 1929 in Elmira, daughter of the late William and Bertha (Bauman) Zimmer. Florence retired from Elmira City School District after many years of service as a cook. She was an avid craft maker and loved baking cookies with her grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Patricia Colborn (Mark Seeley) of Knoxville, PA; sons, Charles (Marilyn) McCreight, Houston, TX, Richard (Judy) McCreight, Chapel Hill, NC; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth "Carrie" Carrol, NJ, Ruth Rosecrans and Frances Benjamin of Elmira; stepbrother, Robert Miller; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by husband, Charles. Mary was active in Voter Registration and a Member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Marie was a great mother who enjoyed cooking and her large family. Betty was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Elmira, she retired from Sears and Roebuck, and for many years was a dedicated employee of Great American Grocery Stores. Betty loved being with and around people; she was truly a "people person." Juliette was best known for her familiar face at the Danny Discount where she worked for many years. She was very proud of her beautiful flower garden and loved to bake her cookies for everyone. Sherman in January of 1938 in the Pine City Baptist Church parsonage. Prior to his death in 2005, they celebrated 67 wonderful years of life and love together. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Maxine Joy Sherman; grandsons, Tracy Dersham and Nathaniel Dersham; one sister and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and James Fields of Horseheads, NY; along with eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Alberta was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was involved in many of the activities of the church.
