| Reading a series of obituaries from a single
cemetery, as they are presented here, is like reading the multi-generational
history of a community. These people were the local populace at a particular
time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives
and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade"
or business.
All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. SABATURA - VETUKEVIC, Anna M.
Of Elmira, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, April
23, 2007. Anna was the daughter of the late Walter and Caroline Gural Sabatura.
She is also predeceased by her husband, Raymond Vetukevic; brothers, Joseph
and Michael Sabatura; sisters, Bernice Allen and Stella Prisella. She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Patricia Vetukevic
of Pine City; daughter, Marilyn Vetukevic of Elmira; sister-in-law, Mary
Sabatura of Sayre, PA; grandchildren, Michael and Christine Vetukevic of
Pine City; cousin, Frances Smith of Elmira; along with several nieces and
nephews. Anna was a former employee of Elmira Silk Mill and Remington Rand.
She was a life long communicant of St. Casimir's Church. Anna was a mother
and friend to all who knew and loved her. A private family service will
be held, followed by interment at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Arrangements
by McInerny Funeral Home. Sincere thanks for the wonderful care given to
Anna by her extended family on the 6th Floor at Chemung County Nursing
Facility.
SALVATORE Helen
Of Port Richey, FL, formerly of Elmira, died Sunday, January 13, 2008.
She is survived by sisters, Pauline Samuels, Florida and Angeline Rocco,
Arlington, TX; nephews, David (Nicolette) Treaster of Port Richey, Anthony
Rocco, NYC and Michael Rocco, TX; great-niece and nephews, Scott (Melissa)
Treaster, NC, Allen Treaster, NC, Kristina (Josh) Eckenrode, Ithaca, NY,
Sabrina DiLanzo, NC; three great-great-nieces, Amanda, Christina and Lauren
Treaster of NC; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters,
Mary Paul and Josephine Treaster. Helen was retired from the offices at
Kennedy Valve and a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. A Special Thank
You to Michelle and Chris Cersoli for all their help. Family will receive
relatives and friends at the Kalec Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 16
from 6-8 p.m. Prayer service there Thursday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a
Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Burial will

SALVATORE JOSEPHINE "HONEY" TREASTER
Josephine "Honey" nee: Salvatore Of Port Richey, FL, formerly of Elmira,
died Saturday, March 3, 2007. Family will receive relatives and friends
at the Kalec Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7 from 6-8 p.m. Prayer service
there Thursday, March 8 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter
& Paul's Cemetery.
SAMCHISEN Michael
Age 91, of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born February 9, 1916 in Elmira
Heights, son of the late Samuel and Eva (Hilschanska) Samchishen, and passed
away Thursday, October 25, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He is survived
by his siblings, Anna Snyder of Corning, John Samchisen of Elmira Heights,
Julia Siglin of Elmira, Steven Samchisen of Lowman, and Dorothy Samchishen
of Elmira Heights; along with several nieces and nephews. Michael was a
communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. He retired from
the Carpenter's Union, Local 281, Horseheads and was a veteran of WWII.
Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858
Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, October 29th, from 3 to
5 p.m. Panikhida will be held at 3 p.m. Panikhida will continue there on
Tuesday, October 30th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m.
in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Vasile Godenciuc, Celebrant.
Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

SANDERS EDNA MAE POWELL
Edna Mae (Sanders), At age 78, of Elmira, NY, passed away at Elcor
Health Services on September 12, 2007. Edna was born in Heilwood, PA on
November 26, 1928 to the late William and Hester Sanders. In addition to
her parents she was predeceased by her beloved brother, William Sanders,
Seaman 1st Class- U.S.N. who died in action on April 25, 1945; sisters,
Grace Sciotto, Geneva Yattaw, Ella Waldimire, Blanch Luther and Carrie
Lawes. Edna is survived by her loving husband, John "Jack" H. Powell; daughter
and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Daniel F. Coleman of Horseheads; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Pearl Duffalo of Homer City, PA, Dorothy and Michael Soltis
of Dearborn, MI, and Fred Powell of Elmira; grandchildren, Jennifer Katz,
with husband David of Greene, NY and Paul D. Coleman, with wife Kathleen
of Horseheads; great-grandchildren, Lynsey and Evan Coleman; along with
many nieces, nephews and pet cocker spaniel, Abby. Edna was a member of
St. Mary's Church on Elmira's Southside and a past employee of American
LaFrance. Edna was a homemaker and took great pride in her family and her
home. At Edna's request there will be no calling hours. Interment will
be at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

SANDORE Theresa A. Age 58 of Varick, NY, formerly of Elmira, died Thursday, January 12, 2006. Theresa was born February 10, 1947, the daughter of Marguerite Leslie Sandore and the late Henry P. Sandore. Family was most important to Theresa. In addition to her mother Theresa is survived by her loving siblings, with their spouses, Henry L. and Elizabeth Sandore, James and Mary Sandore, Karen and Larry Stratton, Mary Sandore, Linda Knapp, Margaret and Robert Allen, Helen and Jack Smith, Nancy and William Walworth, Jane Sandore, and Joyce and Mark Plastid; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
SANTARONE Pasquale A.
Age 79, of Hamilton, Montana, formerly of Baltimore, MD and Elmira,
NY, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Born January 19, 1929 in
Elmira, NY. He is predeceased by his second wife, Delores Steele Draxler
Santarone. Pat is survived by his third wife, Pam of Hamilton; sons and
daughters from his first marriage, Valentine, Joseph, David, Daniel, Vincent,
Linda and Yvonne; stepson, Douglas Draxler of Mansfield, PA; stepdaughter,
Debbie Draxler of Susanville, California; brother, Anthony (Joanne) Santarone
of Horseheads, NY; many nieces and nephews. Pat was a veteran serving his
country with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Santarone was well known by the baseball
community, working as groundskeeper for the Elmira Pioneers from 1952-1969
and then with the Baltimore Orioles 1969-1991. He will be missed by close
friend, Earl Weaver. Earl loved the competition between Pat and himself
over the tomatoes they planted down left field line. Pat was an avid golfer,
hunter and fisherman. He loved gardening, growing massive tomatoes and
peppers. A memorial service will be held May 17, 2008 at Daly Leach Chapel,
Hamilton, Montana. Interment will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery at

SANTULI - PALMIERI
Grace Loving Mother and Grandmother Age 87, of Elmira passed away Wednesday,
December 5, 2001 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Grace was born March
28, 1914 in Elmira daughter of the late John and Rosario (Muccigrosso)
Santulli. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Palmieri who died in 1992.
Grace devoted her time to her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. Survivors
include her two daughters; Rose Marie Colavita of Elmira, Carol (James)
Chapman of Elmira Heights, a sister; Josephine (Nicholas) Rano of Endicott,
NY, her grandchildren; Lou Ann (Theodore) Wahl of Big Flats, Pamela (Richard)
Cram of Horseheads, Nicholas (Trisha) Palmieri of TN, James (Jennifer)
Chapman of VA, Nicholas (Alexandra) Colavita of AZ, great grandchildren;
Alicia, Patrick, Theodore and Thomas Wahl, Tara, Anthony and Nicholas Cram,
Isabella Palmieri, sisters-in-law; Angeline Palmieri (passed away December
6, 2001), Theresa (Albert) Fargo both of Elmira, Dorothy Palmieri of New
Albany, PA and Marion Palmieri of Elmira, several special nieces, nephews
and cousins. Grace was predeceased by her husband Nicholas, son Peter Palmieri
in 1982 and son-in-law Nicholas Colavita in 1994. Family and friends are
invited to call Sunday, December 9, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the
James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at the funeral
home 9:30 AM Monday, December 10th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at St. Patrick's Church at 10 AM with Rev. Walter Wainwright as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Memorials are directed
to the American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice. Envelopes
will be provided at the funeral home.
SANTULLI Nicholas P.
89, of Schenectady, died peacefully on Friday evening, May 25, 2007.
Born in Elmira, New York, "Uncle Nick", as he was known to many, was a
member of the Laborers' International Union Local 190. During his retirement,
he found a great job spending time on Sacandaga Lake and taking long walks
with his dogs. He will be missed by many adoring nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by his parents; and his five brothers, Martin, Anthony,
Louis, Henry and Joseph Santulli. The family is grateful for the caring
staff at Eden Park Nursing Facility in Cobleskill, NY, who took so much
time to enjoy and humor him, and the gentle care provided by those at the
Baptist Health Center. Those wishing to remember Nick in a special way
may send a contribution to the charity of your choice. There will be a
special graveside service at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira on
Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 11 a.m. Rev. Walter Wainwright officiating.
SASSANO - TONGATE, Anna Marie (Sassano, Corter)
Of Flannery Apartments in Elmira, formerly of Cottage Drive East, Elmira.
Born on July 11, 1933 to Anthony and Lucy Sassano in Elmira, New York,
passed away on August 14, 2008 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Anna
was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale A. Corter in 1973 and
her second husband, John E. Tongate in 1998; sister, Janet Slawson; and
stepdaughter, Lisa York. She is survived by two sons, Paul A. Corter and
wife Christine of Horseheads, NY and Daniel J. Corter and wife Jennifer
of Elmira, NY; daughter, Kathleen A. Lazeski and husband Gerald of Elmira,
NY; eight grandchildren, Kevin J. Lazeski of Johnstown, PA, Shawn D. (Marla)
Lazeski of Pleasant Unity, PA, Riane E. Corter, Zachary J. Corter, Ross
A. Corter; Leslieanne Marie Corter and Tyler D. Corter, all of Elmira and
Grant J. Corter of Alexandria, VA; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Hannah
and Sarah Lazeski of Pleasant Unity, PA; niece, Debra Peck and her family
of Lowman, NY; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Ulawski of Glendale, CA and Barbara
Nielsen of Tulsa, OK. Anna was the owner/operator with her husband Dale
of Glider Cab, Co. Anna also worked as a nurses aide in the Chemung County
Nursing Facility, retiring after 10 years of service in 1995. Anna was
an avid reader and enjoyed periodic trips to the casinos. Anna volunteered
at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Flannery Apartments. Family and friends

Ave., Elmira, on Sunday, August 17th from 6 to 9 p.m. Her Funeral Service
will be held there on Monday, August 18th at 10 a.m. Rev. Richard Price

SASSANO - SLAWSON
Janet Residing at the Flannery Apartments S. Main St. passed away on
Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following an illness
at the age of 67. Janet was born on May 22, 1938 in Elmira, daughter of
the late Anthony & Lucy Allegretto Sassano. She was the former wife
and friend to Donald Slawson until his passing in April 2005. Janet was
communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was a homemaker taking great joy
in caring for her home and her family who survive her. A loving daughter
and son-in-law, Debra & Dennis Peck, Lowman along with their children,
Jeremy, Sarah, Joshua, Mollie and Maria; a sister, Anne Tongate, Big Flats;
a niece, Kathy & Jerry Lazeski, two nephews, Dan & Jennifer Corter
and Paul Corter; two very dear friends, Anita Kirk and Ann Kay. In addition
to her parents and husband, Janet was also predeceased by her twin sons,
Anthony T. and Thomas A. Slawson. In honoring her wishes there will be
no services and she will be buried next to her former husband, Donald Slawson
in Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Friends are invited to join Janet's
family for a Memorial Dinner on Saturday June 11, 2005 at the Wellsburg

Josephine M. (Savino) Loving wife, mother and grandmother Age 69 of 235
Kendall Place, Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly, Monday, July 31, 2000
at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She is survived by her loving husband
of 44 years, Casimir; sons, Charles (Ann) of Derby, NY, John (Nancy)
and Paul, both of Elmira; daughters, Theresa (John) Brennan and Susan (Mark)
Reynolds, both of Horseheads and Rose (Michael) Denicola of Albany,
NY; 11 beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Marie
(Savino) Rathmann of Elmira; uncle, Peter Savino of Torrington, CT; aunt,
Laurice Santoro of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Josephine Kamas of Rochester,
Pauline (Nereo) Agostinelli of Plantation, FL, Antoinnnette Savino of Bath
and Ceil Kujawski of Elmira as well as many loving nieces,
nephews and many close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John
and Rosina Savino; parents-in-law, Charles and Tekla Kujawski; brothers,
Anthony and Nicholas; sisters, Lena Capozzi and Ida Fields; brothers-in-law,
Reverend Leonard Kujawski, Max Kamas, Edward Kujawski, Richard Rathmann,
Vincent Capozzi and Robert Fields; sister-in-law, Margaret Savino. Josephine
was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Elmira Heights. She was
very active in Sunday Bingo and the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary
#1178, where she was past president and held many other offices, was
a member of the American Legion Aux. Post 154, volunteer at St. Joseph's
Hospital for over 12 years, member of St. Joseph's Alumni Association,
ECHS class of 1948, St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, class
of 1951, and was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital as a Registered
Nurse for over 25 years. Josephine and Casimir would have celebrated 45
years of marriage on August 20, 2000. Relatives and friends
are invited to call at the Barrett Funeral Home on Thursday, August 3rd
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Prayer Service will be held there on Friday,
August 4th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM
in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Rev. Christopher Linsler, Celebrant. Interment

SAVINO - AGAN
Mary Santa Savino "Babe" 1931-2006 Mary died at her home Sunday, February
12, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 27, 1931,
a daughter of the late Rocco A. and Mary (DiFabio) Savino. Mary is survived
by her husband of 52 years James F. Agan; 9 children, with spouses, Deborah
and Daniel Donovan, Donna and Donald Bennett, Dr. James F. and Linda Agan,
Susan and J. Patrick Ervin, Mary "Mimi" Janeski, Vickie and James Davis;
all of Elmira, Terese and Jeffrey Hofmann of Hardy, VA, Mark and Catherine
Agan of Springfield, PA, Linda and Harry Schornstheimer of Elmira; and
the 10th Agan, James II and Mary Pirozzolo; her beloved dog Sadie; 28 grandchildren
and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Babe are her siblings, with spouses,
Francis and Janet Savino, Joseph and Betty Savino, Roy and Susan Savino,
Blanche and James Pirozzolo, Theresa Ann and William Gamer, Linda and James
Collins, Dennis and Diane Savino; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Babe managed the family shoe store while her brothers were in the Army
and stayed upon their return home. She was a member of the Sacred Heart
Ladies Society of St. Anthony's Church. Babe was a celebrated domestic
engineer who loved life and her family and was always surrounded by children.
"Mom lived in such a way that those who knew her, but didn't know God,
came to know God because they knew Mom." Friends are invited to McInerny
Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, February 14,
2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral
home on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will
follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family

John A. (Our Angel Heart) Age 77, of Southside, Elmira, died Monday,
October 10, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Ann; sons,
Riche (Brenda) Schaar, Syracuse, Todd (Kristy) Schaar, Elmira, Thomas J.
Schaar, Clearwater, FL; daughter, Anne Coleen Schaar at home; step-children,
Bernard and Kathy Szybura, N. Augusta, SC, Cheryl and Joseph Miller, Elmira,
Elizabeth Spoon, Elmira and William and Lisa Szybura, Orting, WA; grandchildren,
Scott Schaar, Samuel and Maxwell Schaar, Lisa Spoon, Chris and Sarah Szybura,
Lindsay and Beah Szybura; brother, Robert (Mary) Schaar, Myrtle Beach,
NC; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including cousin, Larry Parsons.
Predeceased by wife, Mary Lou Schaar; brother, James Schaar; stepmother,
Mary Schaar. John was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, retired from
Sears with 38 years of service, and an avid golfer and loved walking the
beach. John was a Veteran of the Navy. Family will receive relatives and

Frances V. Ashton (Schaefer) Age 87, of Elmira, NY. She was born May
13, 1918 in Elmira, daughter of the late John and Katharine (Schoen) Schaefer
and passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Neil T. Ashton and Glenn Mason; along
with seven siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses,
Patricia and William Mosher of Horseheads, Kathleen and Robert Frawley
of Penn Yan, Mary Frances and Rick Welch of Troy, PA, Neil T. Ashton of
Elmira and William and Marcia Ashton of Elmira; grandchildren, William
(Lisa) Mosher, Jr. of Henrietta, NY, Elizabeth (Ronald) Grannis of Horseheads,
Michael Mosher (fiancée, Jennifer Wisneski and son, Nathaniel) of
Big Flats, Katharine Frawley of Syracuse, Meghan Frawley of Penn Yan, Amanda
(John) O'Connor of Canton, PA, Kimberly Welch of WV, Lason Ashton and N.
Timothy Ashton, both of Ithaca, and Joseph Ashton of Elmira Heights; great-grandchildren,

SCHAEFER - GLOVINS
Margaret E. nee: Schaefer Age 91, of Elmira, passed away Saturday,
January 13, 2007, after a brief cardiac condition. Margaret was the daughter
of the late John and Katharine Schaefer and the wife of the late John A.
Glovins. She is survived by daughter, Barbara (Richard) Carine of East
Pembroke, NY; sister-in-law, Margaret (Irv) Sonnefeld of West Seneca, NY;
canine companion "Brandy"; several nieces, nephews, many wonderful friends
and neighbors; her "special girls," Mary Lynn Maguire and Linda Frisbie.
Predeceased by brothers and sisters, Henry Schaefer, Anna Hanechak, Augusta
Schaefer, Nicholas Schaefer, Mary (Mae) Schaefer, Helen Newton, Frances
Mason and William Schaefer. Margaret was a retiree of Trayer Products,
a former volunteer at the Steele Memorial Library and the Community Kitchen.
Margaret also enjoyed many Senior Bus Trips. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the Wyoming County SPCA, 808 Creek Rd., Attica, NY 14011.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kalec Funeral Home
on Friday, January 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service there on

STERMER Shirley C. Age 78, of 616 Columbia St., Elmira, died
Friday, March 31, 2006. Shirley is survived by husband, Robert; sons, Robert
(Beth) Gustin, Gary (fiancee, Kay) Gustin, John (Janice) Stermer; daughter,
Debbie (fiance, Steve) Allen; grandchildren, Robert, Steven M., Stephen,
Corey, Jeffrey, Timothy, Tasha, Heather, Elizabeth, Stephen N., Jonathan,
Gregory, Joseph, and Kaleb; one great-grandson, Tyler; brothers, Clyde
(Elsie) Scherer, George (Betty) Scherer; sister, Hilda (Bob) Miller; brothers-in-law,
Paul (Dorothy) Stermer, Fred Stermer; sisters-in-law, Helen Cassada, Kathleen
Stermer, Kathy Scherer; many nieces, nephews and cousins; predeceased by
daughter, Betty Ann; granddaughter, Tracey Lynn; sisters, Dolores, Joan;
and brothers, Norman and Arthur. Shirley was a communicant of Sts. Peter
& Paul's Church, a school crossing guard for 35+ years, a volunteer
at St. Joseph Hospital 3rd floor Skilled Nursing unit, a secretary for
Southport Kiwanis and was a volunteer for many other organizations. Those

SCHICK - MORRELL, Mary Theresa
Age 92, of Elmira, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital,
with her loving family by her side. Mary was born April 26, 1915, in Fremont
Center, NY, a daughter of Thomas and Hermina Gunther Schick. She is predeceased
by her husband of 59 years Eugene W. Morrell. Mary is survived by her children,
with their spouses, Dianne M. and George Maloney of Elmira, William T.
and Catherine Morrell of Elmira, and Marianne T. and Frank Dailey of Brockport,
NY; grandchildren, Michael (Kara) Maloney of Elmira, Daniel (Susan) Maloney
of Dallas, PA, Christine Maloney, Maria (fiancé Shaun Bennett) Maloney,
Thomas (Laurie) Morrell, all of Elmira, Alise (Jonny) Sinclair of York,
England, Joseph Morrell of Baltimore, MD, Christopher (Margaret) Dailey
of Brockport, NY, and Patrick (Suzanne) Dailey of New Britain, PA; 11 great-grandchildren;
sister Florence Hubert of Hankins, NY, with her children, Walter, Regina,
Dorothy, Ruth, Louise, Thomas, John, James, Michael, David and Joan, with
their families; nephew Michael (Carole) Morrell of Elmira. Mary was a homemaker
devoted to her family. She was a great cook who loved hosting family gatherings.
A gracious and fun loving lady, who would never speak ill of another person,
Mary will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was an avid bowler,
gardener, and knitter. She would knit caps and booties for the newborns
at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Mary was a prayerful person and a longtime
active communicant of St. Charles Borromeo. She helped with counting the
Sunday collections, worked bingo, and was a member of the Rosary &
Altar Society. Mary was also a longtime member of the Nocturnal Adoration
Society. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water
and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 26,

SCHICK - MORRELL, Mary Theresa
Services celebrating Mary Theresa's life were held Wednesday, March
26, 2008. A prayer service, led by Father Thomas O'Brien, was held at McInerny
Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. At this time, grandsons, Daniel Maloney and
Patrick Dailey, shared memories of their grandmother. A Mass of Christian
Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church with Father
O'Brien presiding, Father Christopher Linsler and Father Walter Wainwright
concelebrating. In honor of her years as a member of St. Charles Altar
and Rosary, current members formed an honor guard as her casket was brought
into and out of the church. Mary Theresa's children, Dianne Maloney, Bill
Morrell, and Marianne Dailey placed the funeral pall on her casket, with
her sister Florence Hubert placing the crucifix. A St. Charles sash from
the Altar and Rosary was also placed on Mary Theresa's casket. Readings
were given by grandson Mike Maloney, and great-granddaughter Amanda Paribello.
Father Wainwright read the gospel and Father O'Brien delivered the homily.
Prayers of the Faithful were led by granddaughter Maria Maloney. Dianne,
Bill, and Marianne presented the offertory gifts, along with a symbolic
gift of rosary beads for their mother's devotion to the rosary. Eucharistic
ministers were grandchildren, Tina Maloney and Maria Maloney. Remarks of
remembrance were given by granddaughter Tina Maloney. Grandson Tom Morrell
read a letter to Grandma from granddaughter Alise Morrell Sinclair who
currently resides in York, England. Music was led by organist Frances McLaren
and soloist Jack Keefe. Committal prayers and interment followed at St.
Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Grandsons, Mike Maloney, Daniel Maloney, Thomas
Morrell, Joseph Morrell, Christopher Dailey, and Patrick Dailey served
as pallbearers. A luncheon was held at St. Charles Borromeo parish hall

SCHRAGE Arnold "Arnie" Age 83, of Pine Valley and longtime resident of Johnson Hollow Rd., was reunited in Heaven with his wife and princess, Margaret, on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Arnie was born Dec. 22, 1923 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Armin and Lena Mathew Schrage. Arnie was predeceased by his devoted wife of 54 years, Margaret "Peg" Schrage in 2001. His surviving family includes his daughters and son, Joni (Ed) Wrenn of Elmira, Karen Ann (Chester) Hayes of Horseheads, Janny (Bob) Tacchi of Horseheads, Mark (Debra) Schrage of Pine Valley, Linny (Mike) Warnken of Horseheads, and Dawn (Randy) Potter of Brooks, NC; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Judy) Schrage of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Osgood; brothers, George, Bernie and Russell. Arnie was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church, Horseheads. Truly a "Jack-of-all-Trades," Arnie was a retired self employed general contractor in Chemung County for several years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in General Patton's 3rd Army and locally a member of the American Legion Post #154 in Elmira Heights. His talents were quite diverse; he was an accomplished artist whose worldly sights and experiences he expressed on canvas with Pen and Ink and Watercolors. He was also a talented musician who enjoyed the Big Band music and he enjoyed playing the piano. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. SCHRAGE –MARGARET MARY OSGOOD age 76 of Horseheads, NY. She was born July 29, 1928 in Elmira, daughter of the late Armin and Lena (Matthew) Schrage and passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Bethany Manor. She was also predeceased by her brothers, George, Bernie, and Russell Schrage; and her former spouse, Joe Osgood. SCHULER Joseph James "Jock" Jr.
Of Elmira, NY
Was born February 28, 1957 in Elmira, NY, the loving son of Joseph
James and Saundra (Jacobs) Schuler Sr., passed away peacefully at home
on Monday, December 10, 2007, at the age of 50. "Jock", as he was affectionately
known by, is survived by his beloved children, Joseph James Schuler III,
Lindsay Schuler (John Bieber), Joeley Schuler; wife, Susan Schuler; loving
and caring parents, Joseph and Sandy Schuler; sisters, Dianna Schuler,
Lorie (Robert) VanKeuren; brother, Brian (Tracey) Schuler, all of Elmira,
NY; along with several nieces, nephews, two great-nephews, many friends
and his feline companion, "Chloe". "Jock" was a diehard and avid fan of
the following: The Dallas Cowboys, The New York Yankees and Notre Dame

SCOTT Joseph F Sr.
Joseph F. Sr. Korean War Veteran Age 73 of Gillett, PA passed away
on Friday March 10, 2006, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. He
is survived by his wife, Laurel A. Scott, children, Joseph (Kathy) Scott
Jr., Denise (Daniel) Wintermute, Robert (Evelyn) Scott, Frank (Helen King)
Scott, Thomas (Beatrice Koch) Scott, and Daphne (James) Johnston; 31 grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Frank) Gurrera; and several
nieces and nephews. His first wife, Margaret A. Scott in 1984, predeceased
Joseph. He was a retired New York City Police Officer. A United States
Army Veteran having served with the 187th Airborne in Korea. But most important
of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In his spare time he enjoyed nature and he kept himself busy with the animals
that he raised and cared for. Family and friends are invited to call at

March 15, 2006, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. with Funeral and Committal Service

SCROCARELLI - PONZI
Matilda Mary (Scrocarelli) Age, 92, of Elmira, NY, died peacefully
surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 18, 2005, at St. Joseph's
Hospital. Matilda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann
and Edward Sophia Jr. of Elmira; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Joseph
and Shirley Ponzi Jr. of Horseheads; grandchildren, Susan Sophia (Scott)
Deming, Karen Sophia (David) Decker, Nancy Sophia (Gary) VanKirk, Mary
Sophia (George) Gee, Edward (Mary) Sophia III, Lisa M. (Michael) Simmons,
Larry (Christine) Ponzi III; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren;
sister, Ida (Sam) Cornacchio of Elmira; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Matilda was the daughter of Francesco and Cloridea Scrocarelli who originated
from Caselincontrada, Italy, and she was a first generation Italian-American.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Ponzi Sr.
in 1989; her sister, Caroline Scrocarelli (Saravullo); brothers, Othello
Scrocarelli and Peter Scrocarelli. Matilda was a lifetime member of St.
Anthony's Church, member of the Ladies Sacred Heart Society, the Macchia
Club and Senior Citizens group. Matilda was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed family gatherings, preparing pasta for family on Sunday's and
relaxing playing a good game of cards or Bingo. A special thanks to the
entire staff of the 3rd floor skilled nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Harry P. Age 99, of Elmira, died on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at Elcor
Heath Services. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 23, 1901. He was
predeceased by Elizabeth, wife of 50 years and Alva, wife of 10 years and
daughter Mary Dunn. He is survived by his son Harry Seeback (Jean) of Bethesda,
MD and son-in-law John Dunn of Elmira and grandchildren Thomas Dunn of
Essex Junction, VT; Mary Loiuse Brown of Escondido, CA; Teresa Heineman
of Rockville, MD and Robert Seeback of Merritt Island, FL. Also, 12 great-grandchildren
and 3 great-great- grandchildren. The family will receive Relatives and
Friends at the Kalec Funeral Home Wednesday, August 22, 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Prayer service there Thursday 8:45 AM, Followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at The Dominican Monastery Chapel at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow
in Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Mr. Seeback was a 80 year Member of
the Knights of Columbus including Elmira Council 229 and the Horseheads
Council. He was a Grand Knight in his early 20s with the Ridgewood Council
on Long Island where he was also Chapter President. Other positions were
Faithful Navigator, District Deputy and State Chairman. Harry presently
was a Knight in the Elmira Council #229, a 4th Degree Member of the Rev.
Henry F. Adamski Assembly, Knights of Columbus and a Communicant of Eastside
Catholic Parishes. Locally he was instrumental in founding New Horizon
Senior Center and the preservation of the historic firehouse. He was the
first lector at a local parish. He was a Teriary Order Dominican and served
at many Masses at the Dominican Monastery. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church St., Elmira, NY 14905,
in Harry's Memory.
SHEA Thomas Francis
Died at home, July 26, after an illness. He was born December 29, 1927
in Hornell, New York, son of Helen and Thomas Shea. He and his wife, with
their three children, moved to Elmira in 1968. A manager for the United
States Post Office, he retired in 1989, after thirty-five years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Shea (Prisco) of Elmira; daughter,
Dr. Anne Shea of Los Angeles; and sons, Stephen Shea of Los Angeles and
Thomas Shea of Philadelphia; sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Sullivan of Elmira,
Mary (Joseph) Aini of Hornell; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He
was a longstanding member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, and served
as the historian for the Msgr. John J. Lee Division in Elmira. There will
be no calling hours. Following a private viewing for the immediate family
at Kalec Funeral Home, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church,
Tuesday, July 29, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Sts. Peter and
Paul's Cemetery. In acknowledgement of his love of books and interest in
history, the family asks that donations be sent to the West Elmira Library.
Gifts may be sent also to St. Patrick's Church or Southern Tier Hospice.

SEKELLA John R. Age 74 of Horseheads, died at his home, Tuesday, June 28, 2005. John was born August 3, 1930, the son of John H. and Valeria Sobkowski Sekella. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his aunt Veronica Sobkowski. John is survived by his wife of 49 years Katrina Bush Sekella; children, with their families, Deborah and Samual Perkins of Kettering, OH with daughters, Tracy (Alex) Gerken and Kelly Perkins; Thomas and Katina Sekella of Rochester, NY with daughters Christina and Tatiana; Mary and Richard Schrock of Horseheads with sons, Ryan and Jordan; and Stephen Sekella of Horseheads; uncle and aunt Joseph and Barbara Grabowski of Elmira Heights; and sister-in-law Sister Campion Bush, S.S.J. of Rochester, NY. John was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was retired from Hardinge, Inc. with over 37 years of service. John was a communicant of St. Benedict's Church in Odessa, NY. Age 71, of Elmira, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the
Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his son, Steve; grandson,
Ryan; sister, Florence Pond; and friend, Jeannette Hoyles and is survived
by his fiancé, Darla Conklin; daughters, Viola Chaapel, Brenda DeVillanueva,
Mary Hoyles, Tina Hoyles and Debbie Girardi; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren;
brother, John (Joyce) Hoyles, Sr.; along with several nieces and nephews.
