From: sfreeman@ptd.net (Sharon Freeman)
Reply-to: sfreeman@ptd.net

Hello: I have just signed up for this list and would appreciate it if anyone has the following ancestors:

GEORGE BLAKESLEE born c. 1845 "PA"  m. MARY WATSON born c. 1850 PA. One son known: John Blakeslee b. 8 Dec. 1872 in Dallas, PA  married Clara Miller b. 19 March 1874 in Hazleton, Carbon Co., PA. George & Mary do not show up on any census. The first time John is found on census is in
1900, already married to Clara. I have exhausted all resources in Luzerne, Carbon Co., Susquehanna, Monroe, and Wyoming Co. looking for birth/ marriage/ and death records.

Also looking for Clara's parents: DAVID MILLER b. c. 1832 PA and SARAH FETTER b. c. 1835 PA.  Death certificate for Clara states they were born
in Hazleton, but I have found no records on them, either. Daivd and Sarah show up on the 1880 census in Hazleton.  I believe David was married before, as Clara was 6 years old in 1880, but she had a brother 22 and a sisters, 16 and 10.

TIA, Sharon Freeman

Kristina and Johan Albert died and are buried in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Arnot, Tioga Co., PA.

Subj:  [Tri-Counties] VAN DYKE, HALL, KIRKENDALL, VAN NESS
Date: 6/6/2001 8:31:37 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: Pawdadd@aol.com

Aaron Van Dyke(1803-?) married Polly (possibly Molly) Hughes (1808-?) in Albany County, NY.  They moved to Warren Twsp., Bradford Cty, PA and are
found in the 1840 and 1850 census of Warren.
Children listed in 1850 living with them are:-Platt (age 22), Aaron (age 19) James (age 16), Elizabeth (age 13), Cortland (age 10) who was my g-grandfather, Mary (age 8), Chester (age 5), and Lewis (age 3).

PLATT enlisted in Union Army Sept. 15, 1864 in Dix, NY and mustered out at Bladensburg, MD on June 9, 1865.
AARON may be the Aaron buried in the Nelson Twsp. cemetery in Tioga Cty. Also buried there are Laura (1834-1913), Mary E. (1856-1924), Daniel W.
(1861-?), Olive (1865-1893), Maria (1859-1895), Jennie (1866-?), Samuel (1883-1893), Mary E. (1893-?)and Daniel A. (1897-1917).

CORTLAND lived on Church St in Wyalusing, PA.  He married (Mary) Agusta Van Ness.  They are my g-grandparents.  They had two children:  Colin Van Dyke who practiced denistry in Wyalusing, and married Harriet ?. No children.  Second child was FRANK ELMER VAN DYKE, who married MEDA HALL of Towanda, PA.
They had Frances (Married Paul N. Conrad), Vivian (married Walter Schwabe) Ernestine (my mother--Married George Runge) and Cortland (killed by an automobile in Roselle Park, NJ at age 8)

CHESTER AND LEWIS were living in Alexandria, Douglas Cty. Minnesota.  Lewis purchased property from a brother named MILTON.  Milton was not listed in the 1850 Warren Twnsp. census.
Chester had children, one of them being Carl Van Dyke, a U.S. Congressman who died in office in 1919.

A letter was found in Minnesota from an ALICE Van Dyke, written to her BROTHER, Lewis.  She had been a nurse living in California but moved back (?) to Minnesota and died there.

My HALL connection is through MEDA, my maternal grandmother. She was one of William Ernest Hall and Catherine Kirkendall of Towanda, PA.  Their other children  were NINA (married a PETERS) and RUTH (married a FISH)

Any and all information on these families would be appreciated.  I have little to no info on the other children of Aaron and Polly, nor do I have information on the family in Albany Cty, New York.  A now lost genealogy chart traced my line back to Sir Anthony Van Dyke of Holland.

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.  Richard Runge <Pawdadd@aol.com>

Still have a "brick wall" I can't get over.

My maternal grandfather Charles A. Smith A.K.A. Jackson Shay, born 12/25/1889 in Cooperstown (per family records - born 12/25/1896 Delaware Co. according to Death Certificate), married Sarah J. Miller 9/4/1910 in Downsville and died Elmira 1/31/1938, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Father was Milo Smith and mother was Carrie or Gertrude Wright. Had a brother William E. Smith who was living in Big Flats in 1938. While he lived in Chemung most of his adult life, cannot find any entry for him  in Census Records.

George Farr found his name in the Elmira City Directory from 1926 'till his death and that he had a half-brother William.

If anyone recognizes any of the above facts or can get me in touch with the William E. Smith family in question, please contact me at jbhill@home.com

Searching for any info on the  parents and siblings of Henry Orten HARRIS born August 9th 1846 in Ridgebury, Bradford Co. Henry's parents were JAMES HARRIS  and SALLIE MILLER.  I have no info. on this line of the Harris. Henry married on Oct. 30th 1873 to MARY ELIZABETH GREEN.

Mary was the daughter of SAMUEL GREEN (born 1820) and HANNAH HOGANCAMP / HOGENCAMP.  Hannah Hogencamp was born on April 28th, 1831 in Willawanna, Pa. Her parents were a DANIEL HOGANCAMP and mother unknown possibly OWANNA. Owanna was supposable Native American.
Any  info. on the SAMUEL GREEN  and  HANNAN HOGANCAMP / HOGENCAMP, HENRY ORTEN HARRIS, JAMES HARRIS and SALLIE MILLER. would be Greatly Appreciated.

It has been suggested to me in the last 2 days  that Sally Miller might be the daughter of WILLIAM S. MILLER (born 1800 - 1810) and Hulda Ann Wells
(born 1800 - 1810) Might any one know this line?
I thank you all in advance.
Have a nice day.

From: laselub@hotmail.com (Linda Selub)

I am a descendant of John Schrader and Catherine Harmon, who settled in Towanda/Monroe area of Bradford County ca. 1795.  There is a lot of information about John (although Catherine is a brick wall).  I am interested in his son, Harmon Schrader.

Harmon Schrader (s/o John & Catherine) m. Rebecca Neeley, (d/o John Neeley and ?) near Towanda.  From the Heverly history I have learned that John Neeley came from Northumberland.  I am interested in the Neeley line.

Harmon and Rebecca (Neeley) Schrader had children including Orange T. Schrader.  Orange married Ellen A. Mace.  Ellen was born 17-Mar-1825 at Greenfield, Luzerne Co., PA, daughter of Abraham Mace and Sarah "Sallie" Ann Algier.  Sallie is buried in Cole's Cemetery.  Abraham was born in Dutchess County NY in 1775 and died at Towanda in 1875; I haven't found him in Cole's but imagine that he must be there somewhere!  Orange and Ellen (Mace) Schrader were my gggg-grandparents.

I am researching the MACE line.

Are there any "cousins" out there researching these families?  Thanks.
