Hi All-
I've searched Joyce's pages for both families and check back on a regular basis, but someday I hope to find my missing link in the Lott Family.  My 2ggf Abraham G Lott died probably Nov. 1866 in either, Chemung Co, or Tioga Co, NY.  I am looking for his death record or obituary or any other item about him that might lead to who his parents were.

I am also looking for any new information on the Minier family of Big Flats, NY.

From:   PN999@aol.com

I'm searching for information on the parents or siblings of Jeremiah MILLER born about 1783 in New York and died 1862 probably in Tioga Co., Pennsylvania. Jeremiah married Sally LNU about 1805; Sally was born about 1787 in New York and died 1863 probably in Tioga Co., Pennsylvania.

Jeremiah MILLER reportedly migrated to Bradford County with his brother, Issac, sometime before the 1820 census. Issac MILLER was known to be in Sussex County, New Jersey about 1802, so Jeremiah may have been there as well.

Jeremiah and Sally Miller raised their family in Smithfield Township, Bradford and they're listed in Smithfield for the 1820, 1830, 1840 and 1850 census. The 1850 census lists one possible child named Levina MILLER born 1823 in Pennsylvania. Jeremiah and Sally may have removed to Tioga County sometime after 1850; they are both buried in the Prutsman or Hotchkiss Cemetery in Tioga Township.

Are there other people who left the Bradford County area for the west following the Civil War, and if so, where did they go ?
Still looking for Thomas and Angeline Barber Scott, b.1814 and 1818.,Ulster
Thomas, son of John Scott and Sally Beals Scott 1782-1871 and 1789-1875
John, son of William Scott (Rev War patriot) and Mary Stancliff Scott 1784-1834 and 1751-1840., these 4 of E Smithfield.
Thomas and Angeline Scott disappear from records after the 1860 Ulster census, I have one note that their son Henry who married Mary Etta Partridge
1840-1914 and 1840-1886 died at Dowagiac, Michigan in 1914...
Post Civil War patterns of westward movement would be interesting...other members of the Beals family back in 1805 continued on down the river instead of stopping at E Smithfield and ended their journey in Indiana and IIllinois but post Civil War was there another migration taking a different path, perhaps?

From:   geofarr@servtech.com (George Farr)

Hi all,
These are my grandparent' families. The Farr's, Alvin and Anna Bailey(originally from Conn.), migrated to the Town of Catlin in Chemung County from the town of Hector(There in 1800 census) in what is nowSchuyler County about 1852. I have their bible with their children's names with birth and death dates. The Egberts, John and Elizabeth ?, presumably came from NJ in the early 1800s, prior to 1826, and settled in the town of Veteran in Chemung County. The Wingraves, Frederick and Maria Boston came from Luton,
England in 1868 and settled first in Blossburg and later in Arnot where my great grandfather was paymaster for the Blossburg Coal Co. I have traced this line back to 1650. The Berrys, Eugene and Charlotte Deyo, came to Watkins from the town of Barrington in Yates County and previous to that were in Pennsylvania. I am not sure if Charlotte came from Yates County. I have traced back my gr gr gr grandfather Daniel Berry's wife's line to 1459 in Kent, England. Her name was Co! rnelia Skiff and her ancestors were in Mass. prior to 1650.

I am always looking for information on the Wingraves in the town of Bloss and the Berrys and Skiffs in Yates County.

Thanks a lot.

My great, great grandfather , Clarence H. Pierce, seems to have disappeared
about 1887-1888.  Does anyone know where he went?  Family rumors say he went
west and died there.  But no-one knows the truth and they are all gone now.

Clarence H. Pierce was born July 29, 1838, the son of Harry Pierce and Alma
Phelps Pierce in East Smithfield, Bradford County, PA.  He was the grandson
of Phineas Pierce, one of the early settlers of E. Smithfield.  He married
Marion Morley, daughter of Justin Morley of Burlington, on August 15,
1861.They had land and home just east of Burlington.    From the tax records
they appear to have been comfortably situated.  However, between tax time in
1887 and tax time in 1888 Clarence disappears from the records and Marian is
listed as the taxable owner.

Marian is buried in the Old Cemetery with her father.  NO CLARENCE!!!!  Does
anybody know what became of poor ole Clarence?

Date:   6/8/2001 1:19:13 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From:   Locey635@cs.com

I'm researching the family of BAKER PARCE, an early settler in Osceola, Tioga, PA shortly after 1800. There is evidence he came from Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY  where he was listed in the 1800 census there, along with EPHRAIM PEARCE, elderly at the time and probably his father (both on same page next to each other on that census). BAKER PARCE is listed in  Tioga Delmar Taxables in 1810 and 1812. According to early Osceola history(found in Joyce's Tri-Counties site), he died in 1815 and was buried in the early
Pioneer Cemetery on Holden Creek(cemetery now gone). After his death, his children(perhaps motherless?), are seen in Troupsburg NY--only a few miles away--shortly after. His sons, BAKER PARCE, Jr. (married Harriet Davis) and Zenas PIERCE(wife unknown), daughters REBECCA PIERCE(married STEPHEN GRINOLDS),  MARY PIERCE(married JONATHAN BROWN ),  PHEBE PIERCE(married REUBEN HARRINGTON) all located in Troupsburg. All these children lived next door to each other in Troupsburg censuses, so this seems to indicate a relationship.
Last night this list received a posting about REUBEN COOK  early settler in Tioga. He and BAKER PARCE are mentioned together in the  Osceola History. They surely knew each other.
Does anyone have any information about this very large family? I'd like to correspond and share information. Rebecca Pierce Grinolds was my ggg grandmother.

William FURMAN was born in New Jersey in 1779.  He married Mary WALDORFF in 1806?  William and his brothers moved from Northumberland Co, Pennsylvania to
Tioga Co, Pennsylvania about 1804/5.  William and Mary's children were born  in Tioga Co.  Per one researcher, their children were Liberty, Levi, David W*., Benjamin, Martin Waldorff, Josiah, Merrik, and William M.  Another researcher lists their children as Liberty, 3 unknown names, David W., George, Miles, Charlotte, Martin Waldorff, and William M.  The elder William died in 1862.  He and Mary are buried in Brookside Cemetery in Tioga Co.

David W. FURMAN was born in Tioga Co between about 1817.  Shortly before 1850, he married Mary Pearl SCHOONOVER.  David and Mary Pearl were the
parents of Annesley Argyle, Hattie, Eva, James Lamorington, Elmer D*. and William A.

According to the obituaries of Hattie FURMAN STEWART and Annesley A. FURMAN, the David and Mary Pearl's moved their family to Wisconsin in or about 1859,
stayed for a short time and then moved on to Boone Township, Hamilton Co, Iowa.  The family is shown there in the 1870 census.

Good morning list,
Gerald Randall at chipmouse@prodigy.net

Need parents names for :
Hanna INMAN  - b: 1813  and died 1893 married Isaac RANDALL - b: 1814 and died 1885 Both are buried at Forest Home Cemetery, Waverly, NY (Tioga County)

Son: Jesse S. RANDALL - Death certificate says the body was taken by train to Waverly, New York - but we cannot find out where he is buried. Jesse died 24 December 1913. He was a charter member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers No. 544.

An obit found states that : The funeral of the late Isaac RANDALL of Sayre, PA, will be held from the M.E. church of that place at 2:30pm on Saturday.  Taken from Waverly Free Press-Feb. 28, 1885.

Would any one have knowledge if "Waverly Free Press" articles are on line for 1893?

Would any one have time to take photographs of these graves in Forest Home Cemetery, Waverly, NY (Tioga County)?

Letter to the Bradford County Courthouse requesting records came back that there was no listing for Hanna or Isaac RANDALL.

My Uncle remembers that years ago he visited a family in Sayre, Pa. that owned a Flower Shop named "Merril" that had shared ancestry with the RANDALL/NICHOLSON  connection. Are there any MERRIL researchers that might have info. to share?
Thanks to all for helping and sharing.

Date:   6/8/2001 9:08:45 AM Eastern Daylight Time
From:   master@pdcbiz.com (David H. Carpenter)

Greetings everyone,

I'm trying to find more information about my grandmothers family.  Here's the catch, on her death certificate it gives here parents as Levi MILLER and Cora STRADLEY.  But on the other hand, in my grandfather Howard N. CARPENTER's Obituary,  it reads "he first married Ada COOLIDGE who died in 1926, then he married Esther KNOWLTON of Marshlands."  That's where I get too.  Esther was born in 1894 in PA somewhere, I believe it was Tioga but not sure.  I did find information on a Levi Henry MILLER in one of the Cenus 1880 Gaines but can't verify that this was her father.  I thought they were living in Marshlands at the turn of the century, but I did not find anything close when I typed in the Gaines Township 1908/9 directory and nothing so far in Charleston either.  My father Howard C. CARPENTER remembers 1 sister of Esther's, Isora ? HALL, who lives or lived in Ohio in her later years.  He also remembers an Uncle named John.  Now, I did find a John H. STRADLEY and Lestie D. STRADLEY living in the area at the right time period.  I also found them listed on a page in my grandfather's Funeral Book.  There were also a Dorothy MILLER listed, but no KNOWLTON's.  As far as I know, my grandmother was only married twice, according to my dad, once to Howard N. CARPENTER (sometime between 1926-1928) and the other to Bernard CAMPBELL (sometime after 1945) when they family moved here to Wisconsin in the late 1940's.  My other idea is that she married a KNOWLTON who she either divorced or he was killed in WWI.  I believe my grandmother's full name at birth was Esther Ann MILLER.  Looking for any information on the family.

From: billklauk@worldnet.att.net (Bill Klauk)

Ezekiel Leonard and Austin Leonard (relationship never established but believed cousins of some type) came from West Springfield, Mass, to what is now Springfield Township in Bradford Co about 1804.  They are recognized in the histories as the 2nd and 3rd settlers with Mr. Harkness usually being considered the 1st.  I am descended from Ezekiel Leonard, through his son Ezekiel, Jr.  I am seeking to correspond with any descendants of either Ezekiel or Austin to further my Leonard family research.

Betty Furness (Elizabeth?) was one of my mother's dearest friends.  I have a beautiful photo of her I inherited and would like to give it to a descendant.  She was probably born around 1914-16 and probably lived in Towanda or Wyalusing, Bradford County, PA.  I am fairly sure she graduated from Towanda High School in 1933.  If anyone has a sincere interest, please let me know.

Drummond and James Wylie emmigrated from Scotland in Feb of 1865.  They went to Barclay, Bradford County and worked in the mine there.  In March of 1868, David and Isabella Rollo Wylie came with their children Mary Ann and her son Peter, Robert, Andrew, and daughter- Jessie.  Their son, John, and his wife- Jean/Jane Russell Wylie and children- Janet born 1864, David born 1866, and John born 1868.  This John is our direct line.  David and Isabella also had a son, David G. born in 1836.  He didn't come with the rest of the family but show up on the 1870 census with them in Liberty, Tioga Co..  Isabella's David and son- James bought a large tract of land in Liberty in 1870.  This David died
in March of 1877 and Isabella died in Jan of 1885.  They are buried in Sebring cemetery.  Daughter- Mary Ann married Luke Robison and they had 2 sons.  After Luke died in 1891, she remarried James Todd.   Son, James, married Janet Blair.  They had 6 children.  Son, Andrew married Sarah Dennison.  They had 4 children and eventually moved to Michigan.  Daughter, Jessie married James Christopher.  They had 10 children(I think).  Son Drummond married Mary McLeod in Towanda, Bradford County before 1880.  They had two children here in the USA and then went back to Scotland, were they had 4 more.
I am hoping that someone might know who John Wylie's widow may have remarried.  I know that in Scotland, woman sometimes never actually carried the husband's last name so I don't know if she would have been known as Jane Russell after her husband died or not.  She is Jane Wiley on the 1870 census in Barclay.  I am also looking for the two children- Janet and John.  Their son, David, married Elizabeth Harvey and they had 12 children.  I am looking for Sons David G. and Robert as well.  I can't find
anything about them after 1880.
I have information about several generations of Blairs that lived around the Blossburg area.  I am in touch with someone of that direct lineage.
As I stated before, Drummond married Mary McLeod in Towanda. I am looking for information about she and her family here in the states. As well as any possible living cousins that may be here.
    Thankyou- Pam Wylie
