I am trying to research my gg grandmother.s BENJAMIN family. Her name was Madeline BENJAMIN and she was born in Alabama in June of 1871. I do not know her parent.s names. The birth records in Alabama do not go back that far and I am waiting on a death search from the state of Pennsylvania.
Madeline had two sisters, Mary (b. about 1878 also born in Alabama) and Amanda (not sure where or when she was born). All three girls ended up in Pennsylvania in later years (I do not know if they came with their parents).
Amanda married a gentleman with the surname LATHAM. I did find Mary in a 1920 Census living with a LATHAM family. Mary is listed as a cousin. I am curious to know if the family that Mary was living with was the one Amanda married into.
The only oral family history I have about the BENJAMIN sisters is that they are descendents of a General Richard Montgomery BENJAMIN from the Revolutionary War.
I know family stories become altered over the years so I hope to find out how much of it is true.
I found a 1900 Census record for Madeline (married to Gerald BURDETTE) and she lists her mother.s birthplace as ALABAMA and her father.s birthplace as PENNSYLVANIA.
Any help, hints or tips would be appreciated.
Thank You.
Sue

I have more info on this family than I had during the last blitz, thanks to relatives who found me after reading what I posted! I am still missing some info however about my gr-gr grandfather.
Harmon C. Rowe (Herman C. Row) was born 1801 and died after 1880. He lived in Millport, NY at the time of the 1860 and 1870 census. He was in the household of his daughter and son-in-law (Alfred and Harriet Rowe Barto) in Montour, NY in 1880. I am trying to find out when and where he died.
I believe Harmon's wife, Helen Colepaugh, died before 1860 and that Harmon might have moved to Millport from Montgomery or Fulton Co., NY after her death so he could live near his daughter, Elizabeth Rowe Bovee, (married to Abram Bovee). In 1870 he lived in Millport next to his son, Abram and Catherine Charlotte Rowe.
Some of his family relocated to Michigan but I don't think Harmon went with them.
Here is what I have on his immediate family:

According to Heverly, Jacob Snell was one of the first white settlers of Athens. His wife was Anna Margaret Oziah; she later married Joseph Spaulding. I am descended from him through his son, George Snell (George is mentioned in Heverly only in a footnote) I would welcome contact from any other Snell descendant, or from anyone with knowledge of George Snell or Anna Margaret Oziah. Thanks.
