Hello,

I am looking for any information about my great grandfather, George Hulbert. He was born in Bradford Co. about 1842. A George A. Hulbert was born to Amos and Elizabeth Hulbert. Amos was born in PA in 1804, but I don't know where. George had an older brother Joseph B., who was born at Towanda in 1829. Thank you very much for any and all assistance.

Respectfully,

Hello Joyce: I am Judy from Arkansas, formerly of northern Ohio. I am happy to see a cute kitty on your site! We have two cats; Daisy Lou (moved from OH with us) and Purrsi our Arkite cat. We love them dearly. Now on to my research! I am researching Budd and Adams families; perhaps a Susannah Dilley married Abraham Adams? I believe that both families settled early in Bradford County and Wyoming County, PA. Benjamin Budd and his son John Budd both lived in I believe this area before the battle of Wyoming. After that Benjamin Budd died of smallpox on his journey back to NY and then his son John removed to Delaware County, Ohio where he was one of the very first pioneers of that area. If you have any more information on either of these families or any maternal line materal I would very much appreciate same.

Sincerely, Judy lltjat@msn.com

PS Benjamin Budd was my 5th greatgrandfather and Abraham Adams was my 4th greatgrandfather.

From: mikeroberts@cyber-quest.com (Mike Roberts)

What I know about Evans is my GG-grandmother was Elizabeth Evans who married John Roberts. I know that they were in Wilkes-Barre Pa around the turn of the century as my G-grandfather was born in 1900 in Wilkes-Barre. I do know that his family owned the Pomeroy's building and later sold it to them. They were also strict Catholics. I have heard a story that my g-grandfather's brother john heard about one of the relatives dying but had to claim residency in Canada before he could receive the large inheritance. My G-grandfather, Charles J. Roberts, moved to Sayre, Pa in 1915; my G-grandmother, Pauline Lucy McNeal, moved to Sayre in 1917. The two married and Charles was disowned from his family because she was protestant and not catholic. Oh and a correction, this is on my Father's side. He is a little chart I made to show the relationships:

John Roberts m. Elizabeth Evans
Charles J. Roberts m. Pauline Lucy McNeal
Charles F. Roberts m. Beatrice Talada
Michael D. Roberts m. Lisa Quattrini
Michael D. Roberts Jr. (me)

I'm looking for info on gggrandfather John Connely born Cork in 1809, married to Fanny born Ireland 1821. They came to Towanda sometime in the 1840's and had 7 children. Dennis-born 1850/51, James b. 4/52, John D. b 12/24/53, Patrick David b. 1855 (my greatgrandfather), Michael b about 1859(a boxer), Thomas and Molly. Patrick married another Towanda girl Mary Fitten b.1857, who was daughter of John Fitten and Mary Coughlin. I've found some info in the census of 1850 and 1880 but nothing later. I know Patrick left farming and went into road construction with his brothers. They also changed their name spelling to Conley. They moved to Ithaca, New York 1n 1888 or thereabouts. My mother says that many of these Connely's are buried in Towanda. Can you guess where.

Hello Ms. Tice....what a wonderful website you have put up!!
I am seeking information on Fred C. Lathrop (married Luella Rhone) , buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Troy.....i am seeking his parentage and was wondering if you had any information, if any, on the whereabouts of his folks. His daughter, Fannie Lathrop (married to Howard Hicks) was my great grandmother, she is buried in Canton (Teaberry Hill). I have been searching for Fred Lathrop's parents for many yrs now with no success. It is my understanding that his legal name was Charles Frederick Lathrop, but for whatever reason, he preferred to switch it around, tho that is based family chat.

If you or anyone you know may have a possible lead on his parentage, please feel free to contact me at jewelj@penn.com

Subj: Bradford County: FULLER, Isaac
Date: 6/1/2002 11:09:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: OBRoots
To: TriCountie

I have been staring at the 1850 census abstraction I made some time ago for Fullers, trying to figure out how/if they all connect. In Springfield Twp., Bradford county, 1850: p 366/727 is Isaac Fuller age 69, born New York and I have found him on the tri-Counties web-site as being born 18 August 1781. Who were his parents and was he born in Mammiscotten, Orange, New York or elsewhere? [This from one of the histories on the tri-county site]. He is just a few years older than my Alanson Fuller born abt 1800 some place in New York, to Abel Fuller for whom I have never been able to find parents. However, on the 1850 census, Isaac is married to a Mercy, age 52, with children Lydia age 28 and James age 24. My own Fuller families used the name Lydia often and other names that seem to have been used often by Fullers in the Tri-counties area. Perhaps if I can get a bit more information on the origins of Isaac, I can find a new place to search for my line of Fuller. ?

Subj: BROWNs of LITCHFIELD area (ca 1850)
Date: 5/31/2002 7:08:46 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: ramer@charter.net (Ramer)
To: JoyceTice@aol.com

Joyce,
Seeking assistance with researching the following. All had a presence in the ld area as evidenced by the 1850 US Census.

Peter BROWN (b.10 September 1795; d. 14 April 1883; bur at Nichols, NY) as is
second wife, Elizabeth VAN GORDER (b. Abt. 1812, d. 17 August 1887)
had dau.Harriet BROWN (b. 17 April 1820) m. James LOUNSBERRY

and then from a later marriage with second wife Elizabeth, Peter had children:
Louise (sic?) BROWN (b. abt 1842)
Lucinda BROWN (b. abt 1844)
Martha BROWN (b. abt 1847)
Nancy BROWN (abt 1849)

But also believe that Peter was a brother of:

Stephen BROWN (b. abt 1800)
and
Martha BROWN (b. abt 1796) m. Jonathan HUNT, jr.

Peter's first family may also have included sons:

Nathaniel BROWN (b. abt 1821) m. Calista (b abt 1824) (Nathaniel & Calista had a
son James E. BROWN (b. abt 1845) and Sylvester (b. abt 1824).

It is believed that Peter Brown moved to the Litchfield area abt 1840 and that
the four "later family children" cited above would have been born there. He also
is believed to have purchased land there between 1838 and 1850.

In addition, I have two citations regarding Peter:

"PART FIRST, HISTORICAL GAZETTEER OF TIOGA COUNTY, NEW YORK, 1785-1888 " compiled
& edited by W.B. GAY, Pub by W.B. GAY & Co., Syracuse, NY. (pub abt 1888).
Peter BROWN was born in Bedford {NY}; parents moving in 1800 to Orange Co.
Peter married there and he and wife had six children there before his wife
died. He served in War of 1812. Believed to have moved to "Litchfield" just
before 1840. Married second wife Elizabeth VAN GORDER 1 Aug 1840.

Specifically seeking any land records regarding properties owned in the Litchfield area by any of the parties mentioned. Any indication of the relationships proposed in the above (marriages, births, deaths, burial records, newspaper stories, etc.). Perhaps a BROWN family history or genealogical chart. Any information as to the lineage of any of the BROWN's or Elizabeth VAN GORDER.

Any information, including "disproves" would be most welcome. Please advise as to fees. Obviously, I would be most pleased to reimburse all costs.

Again, thank you for not only being there but for all of the assistance you provide.

To: JoyceTice@aol.com

Hi Joyce,
I scoured every cemetery listing you have. I am having a real hard time getting anything on my mother's paternal side.

My mother received a telegram from her mother-in-law, in Buffalo, NY, stating that my mother's dad had died in Buffalo, on July 11, 1932 and was going to be buried in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, through Phillips Funeral Home. NY has no record of his death. Are there other cemeteries in the area that are not on your website? His name is Chester Murl Bullock or Murl Chester Bullock. He was separated from my mother's mother when my mother was around 7 years old.

If you can provide any insight, I would be grateful.
Thanks - Steve

I am not sure which of the sisters might be Kate or Emma, as none of the initials fit. That is why I believe Emma is the niece. This might hold true for Kate also. The picture was taken before 1910, when Theressa died.

If anyone knows anything about Martha "Pattie" UMPHREY CHAPMAN, or any NY Chapmans who migrated into the Bradford Co PA area, I would appreciate the help. I haven't found any UMPHREYs in the Bradford Co PA area for 1840 which leads me to believe that Martha's family must have come after 1840 but before 1845, when she and David married in Albany Twp.

Thanks in advance for any help or clues!

I'm trying to find the parents of my g-grandmother, Sylvia D. WILSEY. According to census information, her mother was b in PA, her father in NY. My cousin, Tom OWENS, who just sold the family farm near Corvallis OR., found a letter to Sylvia from her brother Tom. He mentions that their brother Robert has died. Josie WILSEY-White tells me that William Henry WILSEY, b ca 1798, Duchess Co NY, had two daughters that no one has information on. And He had two boys, one named Robert, and one who used his middle name Tom. Sylvia m my g-grandfather William KNOTTS (b Queen Annes co MD, 1805) in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., IL. in 1844. She was b in 1825, in PA. I'd appreciate any information any one can help with. I suspect Sylvia was b in or near Troy. William and Sylvia went to Oregon in 1845-46 on the Oregon Trail. William was the first Benton Co clerk.

I have been searching for 30 years for information concerning my father, John Scott BURTON. His mother was named Jane Scott. His father was Michael BURTON. He was born in November of 1889 in Troy Pennsylvania. Bradford Co.

He served in France in the first world war. I have searched the 1880 and 1900 Census with no results. I have found a Julia BURTON who graduated from Troy High School in 1917. I wonder if this is a relative?

Joyce

I would like to take time to thank you for all your hard work in collecting genealogy information and making it avail on the net. I have used it extensively. I am looking for Cummings (Cummins). I have information on John and Mary, and their family. I beleive that Silas (1822) and William(1825) may be brothers. They were several censes records in Bradford Co. Ridgebury and Tioga Co., Tioga and Rutledge Township. Do you have any suggestion as where to go to find the children of John and Mary.

I have previously contacteed the Bradford Co historical society and received little help.
I have connected my wife's GGGGreat Grandmother Cynthia Palmer Mayhew to her family Nathan Palmer of Bradford Co, I have found him referenced in the 1830 census which would be the correct time. The info I have says that his wife was Phoebe Rexford, which also seems to be a common name in the neighboring county so this all makes sense. They seem to disappear between 1830 and 1840 so they have either moved or died. Any reference suggestions you might have would be helpful.

Seeking more information on the children of Thomas Havens Ames/Lydia Fuller; hoping there are descendants of the siblings of my ancestor, Willis F. Ames that I may contact. Besides Willis F. born 20 Oct 1850 in PA (county n/k) there was also: Thomas Ames, born abt 1855 in Springfield, Bradford County; and Helen born about Feb 1860, also Springfield. I have nothing further on Thomas or Helen. I have never seen this family on a census report; what little information I do have has been from bits and pieces found here and there; never any vital records found, either. I have posted this query a few years ago but was using a different e-mail address - wanted to be sure my current one is available, just in case someone can come up with information.

Thomas Havens AMES was born 04 June 1832, possibly in Mainesburg, Tioga County; married in Springfield, Bradford, PA to Lydia FULLER. Lydia died there about 1868/9 [according to Civil War pension application made by Thomas] and Thomas began to drift around between PA, NY, Michigan. He died 13 Nov. 1903 in Portland, Ionia, Michigan at the home of one of his sons. When he was in the war, he used the alias Thomas HAVENS. I have never been able to get more information on him; and have been stuck on his parents who are my real brick walls. Father: Thomas Ames from VT who married Harriet (Hannah) Havens. I keep hoping for some information from someone, especially descendants of this Ames family but have not had much luck. My previous query was posted when I was using a different e-mail address, so want to be sure my current e-mail is posted just in case someone has some information.

Hello,
I have just found your web site. It is terrific!
If possible, I would like to have the following posted.

I am seeking information on my paternal side of my family. I am particularly interested in the following:
My grandfather was James J. Dunn, Sr. ("Nip") and my grandmother was Eve Bahr Dunn. My grandfather and great-uncle, Ambrose Dunn, of Towanda, operated Dunn Brothers Construction in downtown Towanda for many years. My great-great grandmother was Mary Lynch. She, along with my grandfather, are buried in the Catholic cemetery on James Street. My grandmother, Eve Bahr, was born in Dushore and has several siblings ("Bunny", Sadie, Etta, etc.).

Any information pertaining to this side of my family would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am looking for the grave site and all other data on Civil War veteran James B. Cassidy (Apr 8, 1846 - May 20, 1933) who died in the Binghamton, New York State Hospital, presumably committed there for Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Newry, Blair County, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert & Mary Cassidy and married Alice Thompson on January 1, 1869. Their children: Emma M., John V., and William A. Alice died and James remarried Susan Crofutt January 1, 1879, in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. (Made it easier for him to remember his anniversary, I suppose.) Their children: Charlotte (b. 11/27/79), Alice (b. 04/19/83), Lydia (b. 02/21/85), Marion (b. 02/17/87), and Laura (b. 10/13/90). The family lived in Granville
