BALDWIN, Edward L. - I am looking for relatives of my grandfather who was born April 5, 1908, and ran away from home at the age of 13 and never returned. Parents names are Thomas Baldwin and Edith Yoxtheimer.
Can anybody help me with information on my great grandmother, wife of Truman C. ANDRUS? They are on the 1860 census of Bradford County and the 1880 census of Tioga County. My grandfather said when his mother died (in 1881) he went to live on the indian reservation and so he had to assume her maiden name. He carried the name of Boardwell the rest of his life. Most sources list her as ??? or Bardwell but I saw on FTM where she was listed as Charlotte Chapman and her mother was Sabrina Boardwell. Who was her father and why was her name Chapman?
Thank you for any help you can give me. Judith Francis
Dear Ms. Tice,
After my e-mail of yesterday, I apparently have discovered the father of my great-great grandfather, Warren F. Baker. If I am not mistaken his name is Samuel Sheldon Baker, the adopted son of Ezekiel Baker. I gleaned most of this from your pages on the Bakers and the 1870 census for Bradford county. I would appreciate any information you have about these facts and other help you could give me. Your site has already made my heart race and my eyes tear. You have no idea what you have given so many..

I am looking for any information on the Nehemiah JOHNSON family, who are found in the 1900 New Albany Census. Nehemiah died sometime before 1900 - as his wife Mary E is shown as a widow. I am looking for death info on both of these people. Nehemiah born 1819 in New York, Mary E. TAYLOR Johnson born 1822 in New York. I need Nehemiah's parents name to continue my quest. A date of death and internment info would be great.
Children are: Charles Johnson - born 1853 William O. Johnson born 1855 Lydia Johnson VANVORHIS - born 1851 who moved to New Albany about 1910 to live with brother William Daniel W. Johnson born 1857 Lois V. Johnson who married John YAW and lived in New Albany 1900 - 1910
Any info on living Johnson's in the area would be great.

I begin research on my grandmother from her birth at Jenningston, West Virginia. I have an article for the Tucker County, WV web site and its address is http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvtucker/Jenningston.htm. I have chased the Jennings family from MD to Lopez, PA to WV and finally tracked all family members to the Oak Hill Cemetery in Towanda. My research of my family history has led me not only on a research of the logging industry of that era but now on the Jennings family who led a very interesting life. They are buried in a circle surrounding the family marker. I would love to meet and talk to anyone who could share information on them and hopefully a chance to talk to descendents. Here is a list of them and their date of death: Cortez Hicks Jennings (9/16/1920), Bishop Worth Jennings (10/20/1906), Ella Castle Jennings (1/3/1942), Ethel May Jennings (5/12/1896), Katherine Elizabeth Jennings (10/7/1972), William W Jennings (6/11/1967), Genevieve S Jennings (12/10/1992), W N Jennings (9/28/1918), Sarah Hicks Jennings (1/1/1911), Sarah Jennings Kizer (11/11/1963), Cortez Hicks Jennings (4/20/1925), Paul Jennings Brennan (6/17/1981), Paul B Jennings (6/17/1954), Mary B Jennings (11/2/1947), Edwin Kizer Jennings (7/10/1975) and Ruth Ward Jennings (4/11/1994).
The Jennings had quite a good life, not only in Lopez and West Virginia, but Cortez retired in Towanda and had a large cattle and horse farm. I truly appreciate your time and any information you might have. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org

I am trying to find a descendent of this family:
Wright Snyder (b. May 19, 1813; d. June 20, 1892) married Delila Casteline (b. Sept 20, 1813) on Nov 3, 1836.
Other information I have includes:
Jane Snyder (b. Jan 5, 1938) married Henry Munn Feb 25, 1854. John P. Snyder (b.Jan 29, 1839) married Mary Jane Campbell, June 15, 1864. She died on Sept 26th at age 86, was a widow at the time of her death; had a son Charles E. who died on April 12, 1928, another son Bert, one daughter Stella and a granddaughter Hazel Irene Snyder. Hannah E. Snyder (b. Dec 18, 1839) married Elias Munn, Apr 8, 1857. William L. Snyder (b. Feb 14, 1843) married Hannah Zoeller, Dec 12,1869. Alice Snyder (b. Feb 29, 1852) married William Everson, Jan 1, 1871. Mary Snyder (b. Feb 25, 1854).
Many of these names I found on the Universalist Church Cemetary information on your website, so I am hoping you can help me locate one of this family's descendents.
Some items from their family's estate ended up in an auction in Tacoma, WA many years ago (maybe 30?) and an item was purchased by my brother-in-law. He shared it with me today and it touched a very sentimental part of my heart. I have been trying, as time allows, to research my family history and it would mean so much to me to find something from my ancestors. My husband, brother-in-law, and I decided that the right thing to do would be to try to locate a descendent from Wright Snyder's family.
Your website is very impressive and it appears you are very knowledgeable about tracking families and the history in the Litchfield/Bradford County area. Any help you can give us in locating someone from this family would be very much appreciated.
Sincerely, Marsha Lovstrom

Hi...my name is Judy Decker.
I was wondering if you may have a contact in the local area who would be willing to do some lookup/research work for me.
I have come to a complete standstill on my husband's line. I know that in the 1850 census his gggrandfather (George Decker, wife Catherine Clark, and son Wilson Decker) were in Granville Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. George and Catherine were married in LeRoy twnshp, Bradford County, Pennsylvania September 23, 1847. I also believe that George's two sister also resided in Granville. They were Amelia Decker who married Nathan Baxter on January 01, 1843 at West Burlington, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and Hannah M. Decker who married Charles Vroman abt 1845. There could possibly have been 2 more brothers, William E. Decker and Wilson M. Decker. George Decker, along with his wife and children; Amelia and her husband, Nathan Baxter; and Hannah and her husband Charles Vroman next appear in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin in the 1860 Census.
By February 1864, both George and William E. Decker are in the 28th Wisconsin, Company D and both died before July 1864. We are descended from George's son, Wilson Decker who was born in PA in 1848. I know that all three families own land in Granville, Bradford County, Pennsylvania on the 1850 Census. I was wondering if there are any records of Birth records, Will's or Land records for Granville that may shed more light on the Decker family.
Any assistance would be most valuable.

First I want to tell you how much I enjoy your site. It's like opening a good book every time I go there.
I was wondering if you knew anyone who could give me directions to the Sleeper Hill Cemetery in Warren Center, PA. (Bradford County) I would really like to take a look at it if it's at all possible.
I will be in the Binghamton area the last week in May, and wanted to visit Warren Center. My mother was from there and her father owned the General Store once upon a time, so I know where that's located. I could probably even find Highland Lake if I tried, but that's about it. Any guidance or even hints would be appreciated.
Thank you, Claudia

I would like to start by saying that your sight is wonderful and I have enjoyed browsing through it over the past few years. I hate to trouble you; however, at this point, I am becoming desperate.
My Grannie was born in Towanda on August 9, 1913. Her parents were: John and Julia Catherine McDonald Fitzgerald. They operated a boarding house at RT. 5, Laning Place, Towanda, PA. It has since been torn down- but I do have pictures. My Grannie tells me that the golf course of the local country club was back behind her home. My Grannie was the middle of three girls. The oldest was Mary Rita Fitzgerald (Johnston) and the youngest was Elizabeth Fitzgerald (Collins). Her father, John Bernard Fitzgerald was the son of Thomas and Mary Burke Fitzgerald. His siblings were: Martin, Cornelius, Mary, Maggie, and Nell. He was from Asylum Township. My Grannie's mother, Julia McDonald Fitzgerald, I do not know the name of her parents. I think that her mother was Mary McDonald and her mother was a McKernan. Julia McDonald Fitzgerald was originally from Dushore. Julia's siblings were: Patrick, James, and Mary -who became a Carmelite Nunn. John Bernard Fitzgerald died in 1942. My Grannie says that his birthday was August 27th-but she does not remember the year. We guessing that he was 70 when he died -so that would make the year of his birth be >1872 - but this is really guessing. She says that her mother, Julia's birthday was January 14th- again do not know the year. However, she says that she died on January 4, 1972 in Levittown, NY; she was living with her oldest daughter, Mary. My Grannie graduated from St. Agnes in 1930. I have a picture of her graduating class as well as a lot of pictures from her youth in Towanda. My Grannie and Granddaddy, Robert Edward Wallace, were married in the Rectory of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church on August 9, 1938; they were married in the Rectory because he was a Baptist. Grannie's father is buried somewhere in Towanda.
This is all the information that I have. I have been searching Ancestry.com, Rootsweb, and many others for 4 years with no results. I have had no responses to my postings on the surname pages. As you can imagine, I have become very frustrated. Can you offer me any help or put me in the right direction????? It would be greatly appreciated!!!
Sincerely, Shelley Cummings
