Dear Joyce,

Would you have any information on Benjamin RENNELLS b. 1761 Stafford CT., d. 18 May 1851 in Braford Co., PA, buried Main ST. Cemetery in Canton. I decend from his son Charles RENNELLS b. 27 May 1785, d. 1825 Darke Co., OH, Married Bradford Co., PA. to Lorena SWAIN dau. of Isaac SWAIN and violet READE. I need proof that Charles was his son. Years ago I corresponed with Grace Rennells Young born in Bradford Co.(I believe she now deceased) she sent me a family group sheet showing all children and birth dates. She documented the family group sheet as being from the family Bible, I need proof that Charles is Benjamin RENNELLS son, so I can submit a supplemental application to the SAR for Benjamin RENNELLS, who served in the American Revolution for 4 years in the 2nd Conn. I'm looking for help in finding info on the family of Herbert WOOSTER born abt. 1873 probably around Leroy, PA. My info is horribly limited, as this is a case of a wife & children dying and therefore him giving up his remainder children to whomever would take them. As luck would have it my uncle's father remembered just enough of what he was told about his birth for me to track the biological family to this Herbert WOOSTER that was living in St. Marys, Elk Co. I was able to find a single obit that helped me to get siblings' names but nothing else. This is what I've got Roy b. ?, Etta b. 1869, John b. 1870, Florence b. 1879 d. 2/14/1929 in Buffallo, NY, Milo b. ?, Maud b. 1885.

All of these birth dates are abt and not exact. I also know that in 1929 Roy was listed as being in CA, Milo was listed as being in Erie, PA, John & one of the girls(mar. to a Laverne HOLCOMB) were in Leroy, PA, Herbert was still in St. Marys, PA and the other girl was in Buffalo(mar. to a Frank WOOD). All of this was in the obit for Florence(mar. to a MURPHY and lived in Niagara Falls, NY).

Any info and all info would be wonderful and much appreciated as I am trying to find out who these people were and attempt to give them some life again.

Thank you very much for your time and help,
Jennifer Wenzel, Panama City, FL

I am looking to crack the case on a few stone walls that I have been investigating for 2 years. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

1. William ACLA, my gg grandfather (or perhaps changed his name from ACKLEY?) 1827 - 1918, lived in the Durell area. Trying to get beyond the ACLA to ACKLEY. I believe they moved from the Florida, NY area in the 1780's with the BENNETT family?

2. Alexander JACKSON, my ggg granfather, 1827-1888 - lived on the boarder of Bradford and Sullivan counties. His children moved into Bradford county. I am not able to track down his parents. Countless hours spent in courthouses and on the web to no avail. Am willing to pay someone else to look as well. My grandfather was Wardell JACKSON, who lived in Wyalusing and move to Wysox.

I'm seeking information on John ALLEN who I believe to be my maternal g-g-g grandfather. He is listed as head of household in the 1850 Federal Census of Springfield Twp., Bradford Cty., Pa. He was sixty-nine (69) years of age at the time of the census, making his birth year abt. 1781. Listed also in the household are : Alice Allen (wife - 40 yrs.), George ALLEN (son - 16 yrs.), Lydia ALLEN (dau. - 12 yrs.), Julia ALLEN (dau. - 8 yrs.), Daniel ALLEN (son - 6 yrs.), Amy ALLEN (dau.- 4 yrs.), and Mary ALLEN (dau. - 2 yrs.). I am quite certain that Daniel ALLEN is my g-g grandfather. He emigrated to New York State (Steuben County) at some point (probably as a teen-ager or young man), served in the Civil War, was born in 1844 and died in 1922. I have no information about the remaining household members. Any information that anyone has on John ALLEN or any of the family members listed above would be greatly appreciated. I understand that the Bradford County area was rife with ALLENS in that time period (and may still be), but am hoping that some of you out there may be familiar with this particular family.

Thanks in advance and Happy Hunting to All,

Subject: DALY, HYDE from Blossburg/Arnot, PA

My Grandma, SARAH JANE CHAFFEE NEAL'S mother's AND her father's families came from Ireland and settled in Blossburg/Arnot area and worked in the coal mines and later in the tannery. Besides being able to find that her grandmother MINNIE HYDE, great aunts JOANNA HYDE (REGE?) and MARTHA HYDE ROXE had been school teachers, we don't know much else.

Thanks to Ms. Tyce's wonderful Website, we found out this much. There is little verbal family history besides the bare facts. Can anyone contribute to our knowledge of this branch of the family? We would love to meet some relatives.

We do know that Grama MINNIE HYDE DALY was a widow living in Corning, NY when she died at her sister's house (which one?) in Endicott, NY in 1928 from an obituary. My Grandma's mom, MARIE MAUDE DALY, married FRED FAYETTE CHAFFEE, Sr. from Sheshequin twp., Bradford County. We would really like to know what the lives of her siblings were like as well, STANLEY DALY and WALTER DALY.

Thanks for your help. Laura Marcy

Subject: Fuller

Who is the James FULLER age 33, born in PA, with a wife Ann age 18 found on the 1860 census for Springfield Twp., Bradford County? In his household at this time there is also: “Thrisea”? female age 3; Lydia age 35 who is “dumb” and a Maria Fuller age 64; all born Pennsylvania. Was Maria (---) the mother of James?

I went to another source and found a submission with very little/iffy information on this same James (I think); his wife’s name was Ann WEISING and they had a child Sarah born 1849. I am still trying to find a link to my own FULLERs of PA that will enable me to track the line further back than my own Abel FULLER (ca 1773 – ca. 1836) and wife Betsey GROVER.

Subject: Buffington

I am hoping someone may have information concerning the children of William BUFFINGTON (born 1785) and Grace BUTLER (born 1791), who resided in Warren township from 1810-1840. William died in 1843 and Grace then remarried James Arnold and died in 1850.

From census records it appears that they had as many as 4 sons and 6 daughters. Volume II of Heverly’s Pioneers and Patriots . . . identifies son Nathan H and daughter Mary Ann. In addition, it appears that Sarah Taft BUFFINGTON (born 1823) was a daughter who married Calvin PRATT in 1842 before moving to Illinois. It appears that Nathan served in the Civil War and ended up in Broome County where he died between 1890 and 1900.

My interest is in Lorinda BUFFINGTON (born 1820), who is my gg grandmother. Lorinda married Francis FINCH in 1842, had 3 children, and then after Francis died, married Philander HINE in about 1853 and resided in Preston Twp, Wayne County, until her death in 1885. I just received a copy of her daughter Grace Ann FINCH Lewis’s death certificate which confirms her parents and identifies her mother’s birthplace as Warren Twp, Bradford County.

William BUFFINGTON’s brothers were Benjamin and Luther but their children appear to be all identified and accounted for, leaving William and Grace as Lorinda’s likely parents. In addition, Lorinda named one daughter Grace (after her mother?) and another Content, another family name. I’d appreciate any information anyone might have about this family, their children, what church Lorinda may have been married in (there seems to be a Orwell and Warren Congregational/Presbyterian connection with the BUFFINGTON’s), etc. Thanks, Max Ward
