Joyce:
I went through your website this evening and gathered some information,
but it was not
enough. I hope you can help me.
I am doing research on my grandfather's family. I received information on Jason K. Wright Jr.(my grtgrtgrndfthr) from Commorative Biographical Record, West Shore of Green Bay, WI - 1896. His parents (see
above) Jason Sr. from Mass. and Maria from Camden, N.Y. The article states the Wrights were early settlers of Bradford Cnty, where Foster Wright (3rd grtgrndfthr) the father of Jason Sr. opened up a farm and reesided during the remainder of his life. Foster was a soldier in the War of 1812.
My 1st grtgrdfthr, Ely Wright, and siblings were born in Athens, Bradford C. PA; children of Jason K. Sr and Maria Ely.
I am trying to found out as much as I can about the two families. I would appreciate copies of birth, marriage, death, certificates, not certified; information on business, community involvement, home. etc. I would like to receive copies of everything that is available.
I do not know anything about Jason Sr.'s siblings or parents, I would like to have as much information on them as well.
Please contact me at 520-327-3854, 2504 E. 3rd St., Tucson, AZ 85716, asturias1@juno.com.
Thank you so much
Lynne Wright Urias
Good Evening,
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Charlotte (O'Lear) Jany. My
mother Mary Styranka, was born in Sayre, Pa. April 23, 1908. Her parents
were Ivan Stranka and Anna Galai. Their are two spellings of my mother's
last name, which are Stranka or Styranka.
I am doing a Family History and would like to know if you could find any
information on my mother. I want to visit your town with hopes of finding
where she lived etc.
Anything you could do would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am interested in burial information for:

wife, Caroline, b Nov 1872; she was from Wyalusing
Both are buried in Wyalusing, Bradford, PA.

Hope everyone is well. I need information on Peter Watters ALBRIGHT. I have conflicting information. On the LDS site it has Peter Watters ALBRIGHT as the child of Adam and Margaret. But when I got the informaiton from Adam ALBRIGHT's pension application, specifically, the bible record (written in German), it lists the same children as the LDS site with the exception of Peter Watters ALBRIGHT. The other difference between the two is a female born 27 May 1793. The bible record lists her as Lena Maria and the LDS site lists her as Ana Maria. Still, the bible record shows no Peter Watters ALBRIGHT. So, if anyone can shed some light on this subject, I would be thankful. Peter Watters ALBRIGHT is listed in the 1830 Litchfield, Bradford Co., PA census:
ALBRIGHT, Peter
1 Male, 30-40 (Peter)
1 Male, 5-10 (Adam, b.1821?)
In the 1840 Windham Twp., Bradford Co., PA census:
ALBRIGHT, Peter
3 males under 5 (B.F., 4; J.H., 2; and Alonzo)
1 Male 30-40 (Peter)
1 Female 20-30 (Louisa Parks, 26)
In the 1850 Windham Twp., Bradford Co., PA census:
ALBRIGHT Peter 52 M 1000 Farmer PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT Louisa 36 F NY 148 172
ALBRIGHT B.F. 14 M PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT J.H. 12 M PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT Alonzo 10 M PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT E.J. 8 F PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT Dexter 6 M PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT Edgar 4 M PA 148 172
ALBRIGHT Chester 2 M PA 148 172
My interest is the child listed in the 1830 census as being under 5. I suspect his name is Adam (who married Sarah Jane FAULKNER, then Barbara BOWMAN), father of Quigg. He is not listed in the subsequent census with Peter. Purely speculation, but perhaps Peter was married and had Adam, and his wife died. That would explain the 1830 census. He then remarried to Louisa PARKS and that would explain the 1840 and 1850 census. Please let me know if you have any information or if you can put me in touch with someone who does.
Thanks in advance. Always willing to share what I have. Chris Porrin
I am looking for the names of the children of Reuben BUMPUS or BUMP, as he apparently was sometimes called. His is listed as Rueben BUMPUS living in Luzern Co., Orwell twp. in the 1810 census and as having two children under 10 in his home. That part of Luzern County later became Bradford Co. This must be the same Reuben Bumpus even though the first name is spelled Rueben.
Information I have gathered indicates: he later moved to Bumpville, Rome twp. and died in 1849 at the age of 89. He is buried in the Bumpville Cemetery with his wife Phoebe Gibbs. He was born in CT in 1760 and served in the Rev War. I believe he had a son in 1800 or 1801 in Albany County, NY and named him Reuben.
In a brief biography, he is also said to have had no children. I believe this to be wrong.
Indications are that he lived last on or near the border of Litchfield County.
My hope is to determine whether Reuben or his brother Frederick BUMPUS was the father of my great great grandfather, Reuben BUMPUS b. about 1800, Albany Co., NY.
Thank you, Marlow Samuel BUMPUS
Dear Joyce,
I have contimplated about 20 times to write you and
try and open my can of genealogy worms! I am really
not sure if this is the county I should be looking,
but the census has lead me here. An older family
member told me that before my family moved out to Long
Island that they were in Penn. as farmers. The time
I am looking for is around 1820's.
My gr. gr. grandfather's name was Russel Rowley and he
was married to Hariett Bailey. Both born around
1803. I dont know where. My Gr. Gr. grandfather's
name was Samuel H. Rowley born in 1824 I believe in
Penn. I am not sure if the family in the 1830 census
for Bradford Monroe co. I have a death record for
Samuel's Brother Lafayette Rowley b.1821 that states
the fathers name as Russel. I have hit the bottom on
this one and have no idea where to look. Do you have
any info on the Rowley's of Bradford in any of your
really old books?
I kind of want to say "help me Joyce Kanobe your my only hope!" Any info woud be greatly appreciated. Renee Rowley Friedel
Thank you so much for the wonderful Tri-County site!! I am interested in the Wheat family. Lieudella had a brother Jacob H. Wheat born May 1868 in NY (possibly in Caton. They lived in Caton, NY for 1880 Census. Their parents were John N.(John Nelson Wheat-- name given in Caton 1850 census) and Mary A.Wheat. All of these are buried in Hope Cemetery in Corning, NY. Jacob had a son Willard Frederick Wheat born Feb. 11, 1897 in Corning, NY. He died October 11, 1972 (the autumn of the FLOOD). Willard was in WW1 and returned to Corning in 1919. Willard (Bill) married Madge Magee. They had no children. They are also buried in the Wheat plot at Hope Cemetery, Corning.
John N. Wheat's parents were Thomas (1800-1878) and Olive (1796-1856) Wheat. They are buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY. John seems to have taken a second wife called Mary listed in 1860 census, Caton. In fact the two of them are listed twice in that census. Possibly Mary was a widow and one of the properties was from her 1st or previous husband.
It was interesting to learn Lieudella had a hobby of painting porcelain as I am sure I have in my collection some of her lovely pieces.
Thank you again. Karen Medalle
Dear Joyce Tice,
Thank you for posting the great amount of information pertaining to
Bradford County, Pennsylvania. You have done a great job of presnting
the information on the tri-county website and I know that many people
are indebted to you with a debt of gratitude!
May I ask one query, from the marriage records of Bradford County, Pennsylvania by Clement F. Heverly?
On February 7, 1843 in Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, Milton Holcomb and Miss Polly Simons were married by Justice Milton Bailey.
Could this Milton Holcomb be the same person as the Milton Holcomb who taught at Union School in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut in 1836 and 1837? According to a school expense record, Milton Holcomb received $72 on March 18, 1837 for teaching sixteen weeks at Union School (Windsor Academy).
Thank you for any help you may have at your disposal, regarding the possible matching of these two Milton Holcombs. I do appreciate it! I wish you much continued success in your research.
Sincerely,
Randal W. Cooper

Hello,

Some family names are: William and Pauline VanDeusen born 1880 William d 1937 Pauline unknown William son of William and Pauline born 1912 and Frances VanDeusen born October 1916.

Dear Joyce,
First I want to thank you for all the hard work that has been done to create
an amazing website. I wish there were others who would follow your lead. I
find it difficult to do much research on a $0 budget and living on the
opposite coast. I appreciate all that has been done to provide us the free
information regarding the families of the tri-counties. I have found
information re. the LEONARD family and those related.
Second, I have questions re. a death record and burials at Big Pond Cemetery. The death record states that Phebe DOTY was a male, I believe that it was my gggggrandmother, Phoebe CLINTON Leonard Doty. Her first husband was William LEONARD, they had eleven children. After Williams death in 1854 she married Joseph DOTY. The dates of her birth and death 1806/1810-1897 are the same. Also on the Big Pond Cemetery listing is a William LEONARD buried next to Lemira, Lemira is the daughter of William LEONARD and Pheobe CLINTON. Lemiras parents are a question mark. Phoebe CLINTON's parents are John CLINTON and Lemira DOTY. Many of William and Phoebe children are buried in Big Pond Cemetery. I do not know if my assumptions are correct but I would like to find out. If you or one of your team could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Again, thank you for all your past and present work on this site.
Take care, Luana L. LEONARD
I am trying to connect with the individual who put the following query into the system:

Hi Joyce:
Your site is really great. I have a loose link in my family's genealogy that I
can't seem to connect.
I am doing some research on the O'Leary family. For many years I have heard that we are descended from Commodore John Barry. Attached is a file showing our genealogy. Here is a portion:
Thomas D. O'Leary married Johanna Leary b. 04/14/1852 Ridgebury Athens Twp., PA d. 1922
Johanna Leary b. 1860 (one of triplets) d. at 95 years 02/28/1955
Her Parents were Patrick Leary and Ellen Barry early settlers of Athens Twp. (of Wilawana PA.)
Ellen's mother was Lucy her brother was Patrick. That family is related to John Barry the
father of the U.S. Navy.
I am trying to find the relationship between Ellen Barry and Commodore John Barry. I know John Barry had a brother, but never had any children. I am wondering if John was Ellen's uncle. So I need to find more about Ellen, Patrick, or Lucy Barry.
I have sent messages to researchers in County Wexford, Ireland, and none to date have responded.
Is this a project that you can help me with? Let me know. I would like to apply for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. I have a Minuteman on my mother's side, but would like to see if I qualify under Commodore Barry as well.
Thanks,
Terry O'Leary
Hi, Joyce!
Just a word to thank you for all the good info you provide. I greatly
appreciate it. It is a treasure trove. I'm tracing Van Valkenburg
family- specifically a John Van Valkenburg b July 24, 1822, in Exeter
Twp., Luzerne Co,PA. I know that the Isaac VV in Bradford Co was
connected to the Strope and Tuttle famiies and believe that there's a
connection somehow but after 30 years of searching I've not found it. I
think John's father was an Isaac VV b Jan 1788 or 1789 who served in
Warner's Detached Cavalry in War of 1812 out of Pleasant Valley
(Plattekill), Ulster Co, NY, but have nothing more specific.
Anyway, I have a great time reading your material and if I can be of help, please let me know. Best wishes, Nancy G. Van Valkenburgh

Dear Ms Tice,
My GGGrand Mother, Diadema Marsh Allen, I believe may be listed in the
1820-30 Census for Bradford Co. It is well documented that She married a David
Allen in 1808 in VT. I have some questions. Which Davd Allen? Was it the Deacon
David AllenIII? Could it be a second Wife for the Deacon? According to my family
records, they had child, Harriet Allen. Harriet married a John H Robbins. In
your records, a Harriet Allen Married a John Hanan ?Robbins in Jan. of 1836. Do
you have any further info on these people and relatationships? Your thoughts
are most appreciated.
Your Website is artful, with beautiful photography, and yet is most informative!

Hello Joyce,
My name is Jim Musselman from Souderton, Pa. I am researching the family of my
daughter-in-law, Laura Litosky.
I believe she is the g-g-granddaughter of Fred and Minnie Covey of Terrytown, Bradford Co., Pa. She thinks Minnie's maiden name may have been Pool(e). I found Fred and Minnie in the 1910 census, ages 44 and 37. They had a son William, 11, who I believe married Thelma Wescott of Wyoming or Susquehanna County.
Can you tell me -- Am I on the right track? Where can I look for more info?
Any help you may be able to give will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Jim Musselman

I am also researching the Bastian/Bastion family line and believe Rebecca's parents to be Calvin and Mary Bastian. I would like to share information with anyone who has links to them.

Joyce,
I would very much appreciate and gladly pay for your time and expenses
for any information you might have on when my great great grandparents ,William
Beveridge and his wife, Alice Scott Beveridge, came to Bradford County ( I am
trying to find immigration date) and where they lived. It would have been after
1867 and before Oct 1870.I am descended from one of their sons, Andrew b in
Kirkcaldy 2 Nov 1863, raised in Bradford County. He was quite successful in
Fort Smith Arkansas, though others in this family seem to have been either coal
miners or married to coal miners.
William Beveridge was born in Kirkcaldy County Fife Scotland 19 Jan 1842 and died 20 April 1908.Alice Scott was born 7 April 1839 in County Fife Scotland and died 3 Feb 1905.They are buried in Fort Smith Arkansas .
I can give you what I know of the family's ancestors in Scotland and information on their descendants. I do know many names and many dates.I have Andrew's Bible, which has information I will gladly provide, as well as other information I know about this family .All of which, I 'm sure, is much more than you would ever want on my Beveridges !
Thanks for any help with this,

I have begun a search for my grandmother's family. The only information I have is her and her siblings names, and that her father's name was Charles. I think the most important piece of information I have is that they all lived in Kent Run, outside of Monroe in Bradford County . Kent Run was on one of the mountains and my mother thinks she remembers a small cemetery that was located near by. On the Tri-county web site a Northrup cemetery was listed, does anyone have any information on that cemetery or the Northrup family?
Thank you for this site,

Joyce,
I'm not sure if you are the right person to contact or not, but I have some
questions and possible corrections on the Wysox Cemetery Listing. Please let
me know if I should work with someone else.
There is a Donald Pierce listed with an Edna Hunsinger. Donald was actually a Hunsinger and Edna was a Pierce - my Aunt. Also, there is Judson Pierce buried by Edwin A. Pierce that is not in the list. The stone is very small and could be missed.
My question is, do you know who I can contact to get more information on those that are buried at the cemetery?
Thank you so much for your time and dedication to this project!

Perhaps you could help me trace my family, I'm at a deadend. I hope to travel
to Bradford County this summer to do research. Could you tell me where I should
search first?
I believe my branch of the Minier's go back to the first settler of Milan, Daniel and Polly Minier. I think my missing connection is one of Daniel's sons.
My grandfather's grandfather was William Minier, b 1818. I can find nowhere information about his parents or birthplace. He was born in PA and married in PA an Isabella Yarnell. They had two children in PA (the eldest, Franklin, was my great- grandfather), four in Ohio and three in Indiana.
I know that our branch is connected to George Washington Minier, b 1816 PA, founder of MInier, IL. His father was Daniel's son, John. This is why I feel we are from one of Daniel's sons. I can find nothing on the internet. Where would I find this information in or near Bradford County?
Any information you could give me would be most helpful.
Thank you,
Bob Minier
Ms. Tice: J. T. Wheeler, my grandfather, married Belle Grigson of Bryn Marr(?) PA, after earning a B.S.A . degree from U. Wisconsin; he received a Ph.D. from Cornell, then , at some point in time became a professor at U. Georgia, where he was instrumental in starting, in the early twenties, the vocational educational program that was emulated around the country (see Who's Who in America, 1950). There was a brother named Marshall Wheeler. He, my grandmother, and my mother are deceased. Can you, perhaps, give me some insight into finding more about his branch of the Wheeler family?

Dear Joyce,
I just returned from your area doing research on my father's
family -Blow-Stanton. Two of our ancestors married Stantons. I could not read
the gravestone of Nancy Blow Stanton, however Joseph A. and Rebecca Stanton's
were remarkable. According to your website , it says that the Nancy in this
grave was a daughter not the wife of Joseph A. Stanton. We cannot find any
record of Nancy and Joseph Stanton having a daughter named Nancy. Nancy, wife,
birthday was August 14, 1887;this is close to the date on the gravestone. I
cannot find any other record of the wife being buried anywhere else or that there
was a daughter, Nancy. Could you help me? The more I dig into our family
genealogy, the more questions I have.
Thank you very much.
I am now home in Winter Haven, Fl. I am so full of info. that I gleaned while
home.

To whom it may concern,
I just returned to FL from a research trip in your area. I went to six
cemeteries and marveled at all I was able to find.
I went to this cemetery looking for Nancy Blow Stanton, wife of Joseph Angelo Stanton. I found Joseph,Rebecca, and a grave that was a daughter, Nancy, of Joseph and Nancy Stanton. According to our records, Nancy(wife) died Aug/14, 1887, with no record of a daughter of the same name. I would like to know if Nancy was buried here as wife or daughter. Also, where is Nancy, wife, buried.
Thank you. Joy Blow Vosburg

father. We recently started looking for him and found out that he had passed
away January 9, 1996. His name is Joseph Rodney HINES, Sr. and we know that he
was born February 29 and that he passed away on January 9, 1996 in Sayre, PA.

don't know if he ever remarried or had other children. If anyone has any

Hi: I am trying to find information on a female, named, "Elma" - here is what I know: I am not sure if her last name was Swingle, Estell, Cobb (see below surnames on relatives) There is an autograph book in existence dated 1893, belonging to Elma - I have no idea how old she would have been. I do know, based on the readings in the book, she was dearly loved. Grandma Swingle (I know she was alive in October 16, 1893 - have no idea when she was born or when she died) Relatives: Lualla Fairview (Cousine??) A.M. Estell (Uncle - from Waymart- Wayne Co, PA)
