I am researching Sidney B. WEED who shows up in the 1860 census as a 18 y.o. living with David PHILLIPS in WEST BURLINGTON. In the 1850 census Bradford>Burlington under the name WEED he is listed as S.B age 10 and his father is I.A. WEED later listed as Ira in the 1860 census. I believe Sidneys brothers are Eugene N., Hannible D., Hiram A., Julius C. all of which served in the 52nd regiment company E in the civil war. I am specifically looking for a direct link between Ira and Sidney and also the ancestors of Ira WEED

I am researching Stephen SEASE/CEASE. He married Alsada WOODARD or WOODWARD and had Mary born 11-7-1846 and Daniel born 7-25-1849. Acording to Mary's pension record she writes about her parents" Dictated in Elmira, Chemung County, New York on March 21st. 1917 to the Commander of pensions. “ I Mary Adalaide Newell was born in the town Armenia in Bradford County, Pennsylvania on the 7th Day of March 1846. I write this to answer questions put to me on the names of my parents, brothers and sisters. I hereby state my fathers name is Stephen CEASE and my mothers name is Alzadia WOODARD. In the year 1850 and when I was about 3 or 4 years of age, my father and mother separated. I do not know whether it was just before or just after 1850, they always or rather continued to live in the town of Sullivan, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. But in 3 or 4 years after said separation they were divorced from each other and my mother remarried to a man of the name Henry G. BUCK about 1857 and my father went away out of state. And my mother or myself never saw him again after they separated. Just after 1860 I am sure that I lived with my Aunt Mrs. Eli G. McCONNELL (Lydia,) in said town until I was about 19 years of age at which time I married my said husband Ferdinand NEWELL on July 9, 1865 by Rev. Robert M. McWood in Mainesburg in said County. I only had one true brother; Daniel A. CEASE (and no true sisters) Daniel lived and bond out to a Mr. PARSHALL in said town. After the war Daniel lived in said town with his wife Rose Ann. The above are the true facts of my case." I have also found where Asa HOWE claimed this was his grandaughter Mary A. CEASE who was adopted by Eli McCONNELL. Does anyone know how Eli McCONNELL'S wife Lydia was related to Alsada? I would think maybe her sister as her daughter called her Aunt. Also how does Asa HOWE relate as a grandfather to her? I have run into a brick wall and need any help I can get. I know Alsada SEASE/CEASE married Henry BUCK and he died about 1868. I believe she married Benjamin Nevil/Nerel/Neville and died in 1902. Her son in law Jud Mosher was executer of the estate sale which further cements her as my Alsada. I cannot find an obit on her or Benjamin.

I am looking for information on parents, siblings and children of Squire Jay YOUNG, born January 1854, and his wife Sarah FERGUSON, born about 1854 and died 1890. The 1880 census shows them living in Columbia Twp, of Bradford county with children Jessie and Leander. I believe these may be my great grandparents. The 1860 census for Chemung County lists a Squire Young age 6 (born same time as my Squire) living in household of a Leander Young, age 30. Other children in the household are too old to be Leanders children, so I'm not sure if Leander is Squire's father or brother. Any leads appreciated.

I am Richard D Barnhart in East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio. I have been tracking my GreatGreatGrandmother; Elizabeth W Preston. I started in 1850 Jackson County, Virginia, now WV. She married George W Barnhart there on 18 March 1850. Both are from Pa. Elizabeth's Father George Preston first appears in Jackson County in 1840. In 1830 I believe he is found in Asylum, Bradford County, Pa. In Jackson County there is also a Richard Preston in 1850 with his now married sister Mary PRESTON RICE/RISE. John Preston is with Elizabeth PRESTON BARNHART in 1880 Jackson County as a Nephew. George PRESTON died 1841 Jackson County, therefore he is not in 1850 census. I have information from the PRESTON-BARNHART Bible; this bible was George and Margaret PRESTON's handed down to Elizabeth. Margaret Preston born 16 April 1800. John Preston born 8 Sept 1823. Mary Preston born 25 July 1826. Elizabeth W Preston born 11 January 1830. Richard Preston born 1839. All born Pa. George Preston born Ireland or Pa. There is also a couple of George Prestons in Asylum, Bradford, Pa. I believe one of these to be from Ireland. In 1830 Asylum there appears one Clarifor/Clarissa Preston 50 to 60 years of age, I believe this is my George Preston's mother. From all this, what I need is to try and contact someone in Asylum, Bradford County, Pa. that has knowledge of these Preston Families. I am researching my Grandmother(s).

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I am searching for any and all information about Elizabeth Ehriline BARKER supposedly born in Stevensville, Bradford County PA on 15 July 1837. Her parents were supposedly Donilson and Emaline (own surame unknown) BARKER. I have been unable to confirm this information passed down from another (late) family genealogist. I would be especially interested in knowing if she had a sister named Rebecca. This would tie up another loose end with connections in both Wisconsin and Missouri.

Stephen and Hannah Hyatt lived and owned property in Towanda from at least 1820 through 1839. Their children were Rosena(Rosanna), Stephen H., Minnah, Elizabeth, George and Julia. I would appreciate any help in locating a baptismal record for their daughter ELIZABETH HYATT born 1825 and for their son GEORGE HYATT born 1828 both in Towanda. There is a possibility that ROSANNA HYATT was married in Towanda to a Mr. Miles. Unfortunately,

I do not know what religious faith the family belonged to and do not know what churches were active in the town of Towanda in 1825 to 1828. I'm looking for any descendants of this family or anyone with any knowledge of them. I Have much information on Stephen Hyatt's ancestors that I am willing to share.

I am searching for family members of my Grandmother Grace Burkett Frazier. Her parents, George & Frances Jenks Frazier had seven children. I believe at least one settled in the Athens, PA area sometime in the mid 1900s. The youngest son, Melvin J. Burkett, married a Kellogg and lived in that area. As far as I can find out he had one son, David, and he is the last of the Burketts in our family.

ROBERTS, John "Squire" - owned a tract of 751 acres on Bentley's Creek, Bradford county, near Towanda. 'Squire John had bought it, in 1808, of James Chapman, who held under a Pennsylvania patent, but the lands were occupied by settlers under the Connecticut claim, and the 'Squire was obliged in 1815 to establish his rights by suits of ejectment. It was not until 1830, seven years after his death, that the business was concluded.

I am looking for further information on the man above and this area of land including and information on who now owns this land. In addition, I am looking for the burial site of this gentleman who was unmarried and a Quaker.

I'm still searching for parents & siblings of an ANDREW FORBES (aka FORBUS, FORBIS) who may have been in Pennsylvania when he married to Nancy Ann ALEXANDER AGER (don't know which is her birth surname) on 17 March 1831. They had two sons Thomas Andrew William Wallace born 1832 in PA, Thomas Andrew born 1834. They were in Monroe County MO in 1835 when he acquired land there via land patent, and he died there September 1835. Need to find where their marriage occurred and want to know more about Nancy. Nancy remarried in Monroe County, MO to Robert K. Crawford of nearby Ralls County & family ended up in Linn County, MO. Research in all Missouri counties has not revealed my needed information. I see quite a few FORBES families in the Tri-Counties area. Does anyone have a stray Andrew Forbes? Have no idea of his birth year - probably early 1800's.

Hi Joyce,

I really enjoy your web site and have found information on my family as well. Here is some Civil War information that I just found out about and thought I would share with you. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather: WARBURTON, JOHN C. (He came from England) was in the civil war, Company H, 5th Reserves/34th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was a Private who enlisted June 21, 1861 and died in Libby Prison, Virginia in 1863, of wounds received at Charles City Cross Roads; leg amputated. He was my Great Grandmother's (MABEL AMANDA BUCK LUCKEY) Great Grandfather. And I am looking for other BUCK'S OR LUCKEY'S who have lived in the Tri- County area. Any information would be so helpful and I will gladly give what information I have as well as I have more LUCKEY ancestry and am short on BUCK.

Thanks So Much, Bridget Koster

I am a descendant of Ozias BINGHAM and am looking for as much information about his life as possible. He was a soldier from Connecticut in the Revolutionary War, born in 1750 and, I believe, died 95 years later in 1845. One incident that is particuarly interesting is his arrest in Angelica, N.Y. of the murderer of Ira Stephens, a fellow Revolutionary soldier who was visiting Bradford, and was the father of Bradford resident Ira H. Stephens.

Thanks for any help. John Weir Close Yonkers, NY

Hi Joyce,
I am sure that everyone emails you about their ancestors. My line ends in Bradford county (or should I say begins). My ancestor was Benjamin Lambert who was born about 1790 in England. His wife was Laura (maybe Decker). Every heard of them? They lived in Litchfield in 1840 and 1830. Can't find them before 1830.

Hi Joyce,

Thank you for your Tri County Genealogy site. You've done a beautiful job with it. I have been trying to trace my grandmother's family without much success for about eighteen years. I know she had a sister by the name of Edith, who was adopted by a Thomas Van Orman family in Warren Center. Edith eventually married Winfred Jones, and they lived somewhere near Leraysville and Rome, Pennsylvania. I found out today that they had at least one daughter. Her name was Ruth Rhodes. I asked my mother what else she could tell me about Ruth, but she couldn't remember anything else. Do you happen to know of a Ruth Rhodes? She would probably be in her seventies or eighties if she is still living.

I will be traveling to Bradford Co. to research the name LOVELACE/LESS and BROWN of the 1830's and forward. Andrew Jackson married Deborah in 1860. Andrew and Deborah are in the 1860 census but I couldn't find them any further back. They left shortly after that as he fought in the Civil War from IL. I have those papers, but there is no mention of a father or mother. This is my reason for making the trip. Any ideas on where to start, where to stay etc. would be greatly appreciated as I'm coming from Illinois. This trip came up quickly as I have less than 2 weeks to prepare.

I'm researching the FRANCKE family, who lived in Athens, Pennsylvania in the 1920's. I've been told that my Grandfather's name was Edward O. Francke. Per the 1920 census, E.O. Francke had four sons, Robert, 1914-?; Donald E., 1910-1978; James J., 1907-1974; Ralph J., 1905-1983; and my father, Edward H., 1903-1944. He also had a daughter, Margaret, 1901-? Per the 1880 census, Edward O. Francke's father, Edward Francke, lived in Forks, in Sullivan County. That census notes that Edward F. Francke, Edward's father, was born in Prussia and was living with him at the time of the census. Between the various census reports and Helen Hottenstein's research, that my oldest son found on the Internet, along with a link to the "Francke Family Prayer Book" from Ms. Hottenstein's site, it appears that the Edward Francke listed in Forks, Pennsylvania is my great-grandfather Francke and that Edward F. Francke is my great-great grandfather Francke, who was born in Danzig, Prussia, on 12/26/1801.

Anyone who can provide me with any information on the FRANCKE family can reach me at or Don O. Francke
