Subject: Re: Waverly Class of 1964 [Bradford or Chemung]
Date: 6 Dec 2007

Dear Joyce,
I do not know if I am writing to the correct person. However, in 1964 I graduated from Waverly High School. There were several students in my graduating class that were from the Chemung area that I have often wondered about. I have been gone from Waverly for many years and when asking about such prior students have been informed that no one seems to know what became of them. I live in Arizona and have often felt that I owed them at least a "Hello". If you are aware of such graduates, I would certainly enjoy knowing that they are still around:)))

Subject: Bradford-Smithfield, Ulster
From: "Dick Wood"
Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2007

My name is Richard Wood, formerly of Wayne County, PA, now in Tucson Arizona.

This branch of my tree is Butler VINCENT, b 1825, unknown location, and his wife Susan CRAMER Vincent. Susan CRAMER's parents were Abram CRAMER and Minerva DAN (DAROSS) Cramer Butler and Susan are listed in the 1855 NYS census, Broome County, Sanford Town. I believe Butler is connected to the VINCENT's discussed below, but do not have any proof. I do not have a connection between any of the VINCENT's listed below.

In the 1850 census in the town of Ulster, Bradford County, there is listed a Butler VINCENT, blacksmith, 50 years old with a wife Polly, born in NY. They had at least 7 children with the oldest being David, 25 years old, born in PA.

In the 1860 census of Smithfield Township, there is listed a Butler VINCENT, farmer, age 63, born in RI, with Polly, age 62 born in NY; Martha, age 21, born in PA; Sally, age 20, born in Pa; Mary, age 17, born in PA; Jane age 15, born in PA; and male , age 15, born in PA.

In the 1870 census of Ulster Township, Butler Vincent, age 72 is living with a Rose Abram. In the town of Warren, (1850 census as above) there was a Timothy VINCENT, 77 years old, born in MA and, Lydia, age 57, born in RI. Another Timothy VINCENT is listed, in the town of Warren (1850 census as above), age 37, born in RI, and Lydia, age 34, born in NY.

In the 1860 census, town of Warren, a Lydia VINCENT, age 66, born in RI, is living with Levi POTTER In the same 1860 census (Warren),Timothy VINCENT, age 47, is listed with Lydia, age 44.

Additionally, in 1890+/- a Charles VINCENT, blacksmith, is know to be in Milan.

This is the extent of my VINCENT knowledge in Bradford County. I believe that since Broome County, NY is in close proximity to Bradford County, PA, perhaps my Butler VINCENT is related to the Bradford County VINCENTs.

Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers and have a happy Halloween.

From: Louis Pettinelli,

I am looking for a genealogy of Eileen COLLINS, the astronaut. I know she was from Elmira, but I wonder if she had any Collins relatives from Bradford Co. My great and gg-grandparents lived in the Ridgebury, Bradford Co. area during the mid-1800s until the early 1900s. My gg-grandparents, Patrick SULLIVAN and Mary COLLINS Sullivan`were both born in Ireland. I do not know the names of their parents, but their children born in PA were Thomas b 1844, Mary b 1846, Ann 1849, Timothy b ca 1852, and Margaret b?. (Ann married an Edward McASEY/MAXEY, Timothy married Kathryn HURLEY b. 25 MARCH 1860 in Elmira. She was the daughter of Lawrence HURLEY and Ellen (Helena) CROWLEY Hurley, both born in Ireland, and Margaret married Ed SWEEENEY). I'm guessing that the children were named after their paternal grandparents first and then their maternal grandparents next.

I am searching for information on John W. HOWE (b. 1813, d. 1883) and his wife Caroline (b. 1818, d. 1890). According to Census records they lived in Burlington township, Bradford County in 1850, and then in Ward township, Tioga County in 1860 and 1870. I am a descendant of George HOWE, b. 12 Aug. 1861 in Tioga Co.. Handwritten notes from my family speak of siblings of George named Emily, Judson (William J.), Scott (J. Scott), James, and Sarah. These children are on the census records with John and Caroline HOWE, however, I have been unable to connect them with George. The handwritten notes also state that George was raised by his sister Sarah. If you have any information, please contact me.Thank you!

Hello, I`m Joachim Specht, a German police officer and do some research for our home-museum in Grunstadt, Palatinate, former Bavaria, Germany.

In your page I found the following:

"In the Christian ministry faithful workers sent out from Overton have been Father Charles Heichemer, Father Daniel Cusick and Rev. Edward C. Musselman. Others successful in the legal profession are Lemuel Fawcett and Edward J. Mullen. Charles Molyneux, Lawrence Byron and Edgar R. Park qualified themselves for the successful practice of medicine."

Fr. Charles Heichemer S.J. is born in our city Grunstadt on July 1836 and emigrated 1860 to USA with his family. He was the brother in law of Joseph Mosbacher, who has also to do with your city and became later a rich man in Wichita Kansas.

Do you have any informations about the Mosbacher Heichemer (Heickemer) family. Specially we would like to have a photo of Fr. Heichemer. Of course we`ll pay it. Here in Grünstadt, there is a memorial stone for a George Charles Heichemer, born 1847 (probably a nephhew of Fr. Charles Heichemer) who was the first soldier, of our city, who died in action, in the German-French war 1870/71.

If you have any information, please let me know.

Thanks and best regards from Germany

Joachim Specht
