Subject: Evalina GRAY Rumsey (1804-1875)

Does anyone know anything about Evalina GRAY Rumsey's whereabouts after her divorce from Isaac St. John RUMSEY in 1838?

I had a date of death (6 December 1875) from old D.A.R. papers in my family, and with that information was able to find out Evalina, my great great grandmother, died at the Tioga County Poor Farm in Charleston. The entry on Joyce's web site reads: "Evelina [sic] Rumsey, age 72, born N.Y., lived Troy, Bradford Co., Pa. Died Dec. 6, 1875."

I surmise that Evalina is in an unmarked grave there at the Poor Farm.

Has anyone come across an Evalina (or Evelina) Rumsey in any 1840, 1850, 1860, or 1870 census?

I've been to Mansfield and Wellsboro twice to do research but never thought to stop in Bradford County at their Historical Society or their Court House.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

To: JoyceTice@aol.com ('JoyceTice@aol.com')

Thank you Joyce,
I have been searching you web page for weeks now looking for clues. I wanted to thank you for putting together such a nice web page. My mother has been looking for Hezekiah Avery for over 30 years. We knew he was in the Bradford County area, but until now was unable to make the link. I not only found Hezekiah's younger) records, but there were his fathers (Abajah) and his father Hezekiah (senior). The oldest Hezekiah I found fought in the war of 1812.

I found that in the 1820, 1830, and the 1840 Census there are several Avery's listed, then they are gone. I also found on your website that Brigham Young of Utah fame and the Mormon Church was in that area in the early 1830's. Our next records of Hezekiah Avery (younger) shows that he was buried in Nauvoo Illinois.

My assumption is that the Avery Family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, (Mormons) and moved to their new Zion in Nauvoo. Our records show that they migrated to Utah in 1849 in a wagon train with the Mormons and Brigham Young sent Hezekiah's son (Noah Sumner Buckley Avery) to Southern Utah to homestead a new site that is now St. George.

If the dates match up right, this is the Hezekiah Avery my mother has been searching for. If it is, then on the LDS search site, it lists generations back another 11 generations, back to Christopher of Torbrian - of England in the year 1550.

We are all excited to find these names, we are also hoping they are a match. One way or the other they are part of the family somehow, we know they were from Bradford County PA. So we are just trying to make the tie's.

Thank you so much for your site and for all the hard work you have done for all of us. My mother is 75 and has been searching for a long time, and you have given her the best Christmas present anyone ever could.

Thanks again to you and your staff,
Dennis Hall

From: EberbachMA
To: TriCountie

Alice Rosetta WHITCOMB was born July 22, 1852 in Athens, Bradford, Pa; married Edwin Augustus Corley on Dec. 24, 1872 in Quincy, Adams, IL; and died Nov. 30, 1907 in St. Louis City, MO. The second and third dates and places are confirmed. They were married by a Baptist minister. Both were buried in a south St. Louis German Protestant church cemetery. My husband, their great-grandson, grew up in north St. Louis and had no idea where they were buried. He knew his grandfather had come to St. Louis, but assumed the rest of the family had stayed in Quincy until I found otherwise.

Thanks for any help.

This is the first time I have tried to get info, so I maybe doing it wrong. I need information on George E. BRACEY of Bradford, PA who married Nellie PATTERSON of Towanda, PA in Towanda, PA on April 2, 1885 witnessed by Mrs. F. W. CLARK of Towanda, PA and N. S. RHINEVAULT(Rhinevanlt?). I have the original marriage certificate and a Warranty Deed dated 10th of November 1890 between WealthyROCKWELLl of Ulster, County of Bradford and State of PA of the first part, and Warren PATTERSON and Mrs. G. E. BRACEY of Towanda, County of Bradford and State of PA for a half burial lot, in the cemetary at Ulster, Bradford Co. PA. Signed in the presence of G. H. VANDYKE, Justice of the Peace and Edward ROCKWELL and Wealthy ROCKWELL. I am really a novice at this and have tried to find info on these folks. George E. BRACEY and Nellie PATTERSON were my great-grandparents on my dad's side.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Sherry Bracey-Taylor Athens, AL

I have many Guy and/or Gurdon Fullers that I cannot easily place in my Fuller families during this time of trying to find descendants who might have information than I have been able to find.

Dear Joyce,

I have just begun researching my family history this year, and your website has been a valuable resource for me. I grew up in Windham township, and my ancestors have lived in Bradford County since at least 1797, but probably even earlier. Now I am living in England, which makes it very difficult for me to get to the county courthouse in person to look through records!.

I do have one question for you, if you have the time: My 3rd Great Grandmother was named Eliza (or Liza) Adell Tice. Family records indicate she was born 16 December 1843 and died 28 January 1896. She married John Brenchley on 2 June 1860, and I believe they lived for a while near Granville.

I don't have any record of Eliza's ancestory, and I thought since you are a Tice from Bradford County you might have some information on this. Would welcome any help you might be able to offer.

Best Regards,
Jeff Rinker

From: obroots1@juno.com (Olive B Hoffman)

I would like to straighten out my Fuller database, if possible, and I am a bit confused as to the place of birth for Gurdon Fuller, born abt 1800-1801 to Abel Fuller and Elizabeth "Betsey" {Grover}. Quite some time ago, a person with whom I have since lost contact told me that Gurden was born in Salem, Washington, NY; I am assuming he was born in Cobleskill, Schoharie, NY because information sent to me years ago by another research states the family lived in/owned land in Cobleskill before moving on to what is now Springfield, Bradford County about 1807. (as yet, I have not found those records). However, if indeed Gurdon was born in Salem, Washington, NY than that means I should also be searching there for information on my Abel Fuller who was born somewhere in Mass to somebody.

This Gurdon was married to Phoebe A. Boughton. There are several others of this same name running around in Bradford county about the same time, but as yet I have not been able to connect them to specific Fuller families.

In trying to solve my Fuller line, I am now beginning to try to contact those who may be descendants of my unsolved line of Abel Fuller [md.Elizabeth "Betsey" Grover]. I am descended from their son Alanson who had two wives - I think I am descended from 2nd wife Jane Bardwell - anyway, daughters Linda W.(what does W stand for?) married Oley L. Kinney and sister Leticia C/G (what does that stand for?) married a Kinney, also although I do not have his first name. Does anyone claim these persons as ancestors and have information to share/exchange? Actually, I would like to hear from anyone descended from Abel Fuller and his wife Betsey. I have the Grover line pretty well under control, although I still need some missing data there, like where/when did Betsey die?

One of my greatest genealogical challenges is understanding about my gggrandmother, Margaret BAHAN KANE. Here she is listed in the 1850 Census living in a household with a funny assortment of other individuals. Can anyone connect to these others? Margaret and "husband" Simon KANE reportedly left Co. Clare in May/June 1849. I NEVER find Simon and Margaret together again after the ships passenger list. Margaret remains with one/both of her children for many years thereafter. In 1860, she resides with sons Michael and John in Barton/Waverly, NY (Tioga County) and in 1870, she resides with son John and his wife in Waverly again. Meanwhile, Simon marries Mary CAHILL in Elmira, Chemung Co., NY in 1862. They are found in 1870 in Canton Boro, Bradford Co., PA in in Elmira thereafter. Obviously, something is amiss!

Hello Joyce
I have just started to trace my Brigden family history and was interested to see the names in the Brigden family bible on your website. My great grandfather was born in Dover, Kent, England. He married in Yorkshire and by 1901 had moved to Burnley in Lancashire. My branch of the family then moved to Blackpool, Lancashire, in the 1920s, where we now live.

Most Brigdens live in the south of England, where it seems likely that the name originated. There are not many Brigdens in Lancashire.

I would be very interested to know if you have any contacts with any Brigdens with possible connections to my family!

Best wishes
Alan Storey

Hi Joyce,
Have read with great interest your many interesting facts about the tri-counties genealogy history. Found many relatives listed in Granville Centre Cemetery.

What I am trying to find out is information on a Charles Hopkins Saxton and his wife Elizabeth McChester. I believe they were listed in the 1830 Bradford Co , Canton Tpk page 137.

They had a son James born 11 August 1832 and died 28 Sept. 1867. I believe I can trace my family to him. From my records I have him in IN in 1857 and that he moved to St. Louis and died there 28 Sept. 1867.

My problem is trying to find any information on his parents, I believe they moved from Bradford to Ohio. However the information I have lists Charles as dieing in 1869 at Addison Co.

Would you have any information on this family?

I understand there was a Mary Ragan in Troy Twp. at one time. Could this be she? Is there a Catholic church there or near there? Thank you for any help you can give.

Hello,
I saw your post on the Bradford County website. I am researching the 58th PA Vols, and your grandfather C.N. Porter was I believe, in Co. B of this regiment. I am fairly certain he was not in the 57th PA Vols.

Here is what I have on C.N. Porter: "Born in 1841, Charles N. Porter was a Fox Township, Sullivan County, Pa. resident and the brother of John P. Porter. Charles was 20 years old when his father gave the brothers permission to enlist in Co. B, 58th Pa. Vols. on 10/10/61. He was mustered in as a private for a three-year term of service on 12/10/61 and was mustered out at the expiration of his term of service on 10/18/64. "

The other Porters who were in the 58th PA were:
Miner F. Porter
John P. Porter
James Porter
Francis R. Porter

The 58th PA was very musch associated with Sullivan County. I have a great deal of information about the unit if you want it. My wife's G3 grandfather William Marshall White was from Shunk and he served in Co. B of the 58th Pa. Vols. My wife is descended from him through a line of Mays who also lived in Shunk.

Please contact me with any information you have about the Porters, and let me know what kind of information you would like about the 58th Pennsylvania.

FULLER: Curtis and Aaron: both of these were in the Civil War, from Springfield Twp. - hoping someone has further information on these two: 1. Curtis P. Aaron FULLER - Drafted and unassigned, in hospital, Sept 26, 1864 - Aug 7, 1865 Perhaps if I can get information on parents, wives, or some new facts on these soldiers, I may be able to tell if I am going in the right direction in trying to solve my elusive Fuller line. I think Curtis P. is the son of my Alanson Fuller (1805 - 1869); if I can prove a link to Aaron then I have a good idea which Fuller line to follow on back. Hello:

I am researching my family tree. I have successfully found that my ancestor David Allen, son of Joseph Allen of Medfield, MA, relocated to Ashford CT and "had a share in the land at Massamoquit," as quoted in a source I have on hand.

I don't have any idea what or where Massamoquit is. Do you?

Also, your Bradford County website gives reference to Asa Allen, a relative of mine, as well as Deacon David Allen. I want to know where to get the genealogy information on this family line. Where can I purchase a book about the Allen's? I purchased a CD about the Allen's of Medfield, but since David left, there is no further mention of our family in MA. Can you help??

I would so appreciate some direction and information!

Thank you,
Peggie Allen

Hi Joyce...I am the 3rd great granddaughter of Isaac T. Campbell and Mary Ann Gernert-Campbell. Isaac was born in Pennsylvania and Mary Ann was born in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William and Deborah Clapp- Gernert. Isaac, Mary and family are in the 1880 census of Wisconsin. Isaac has a notation on his grave marker that he was with the 7th Pennsylvania Volunteer Calvary in the Civil War. I did find the census with Mary living with her father, mother and siblings on your web site (thank you). My question is about Isaac (also known as Thomas). I know almost nothing about him. The 1880 census says that his father was born in New York and mother in Pennsylvania. Some papers say that he was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania. I haven't been able to find Isaac or Thomas listed in the census you have on line. There is an Isaac in one or the on line census, but his age is younger than my gr. grandfather's according to the census in Wisconsin. Have you ever heard of him of know of him through your Campbell family connections?

We have a a copy of an Athens Twp. quit claim deed from Marlea Rice Warren to the effect that heirs of Levi Rice - "Mary, Polly, Eunice, Silas and Harley" conveyed land to Abisha M. Rice 1818. (That land is situated east of the Sayre Lockhart St. Bridge over the South Branch of the Susquehanna River .) This Levi is on the 1808 and 1812 Athens tax lists. We suspect that the above Levi is the Levi Rice b 13 Apr 1760/1761 in Brookfield, Worcester Co., MA and son to Ephraim Rice and Thankful Walker. Our conjecture as to this relationship is based on a very slim statement provided by the Edmund Rice Association to wit: "Tis said he settled in Penn. and had a large family of children." Joyce!
Here I am, sitting out in Minnesota, feeling all alone and sort of isolated. I totally stumbled over your site! And how happy I am that I did! It really helps to be sort of "connected" to my past! God Bless you.

On your Checkerville site I can give you a bit more on relationships within the Everts clan.

Lawson Everts married Amy Barrett (my grandparents.) Lawson was the son of Byron and Mary (my great grandparents...I would LOVE to find out Mary's maiden name.) Lawson and Amy had children: Mildred, (my father's sister, buried at Checkerville) Walter (buried at Checkervill along with his wife, Agnes) and Adrian (my father, buried at Shady Grove Cemetary in Hornby, New York...just outside of Corning.) Mildred remained single all her life. Walter married Agnes and their son was Bernard. (Bernard was also single all his life.) Adrian married Grace Haradon of Hornby. New York. They were my parents. They had three children, Amy, Norva and Carol...all of whom are still living.

Family tradition tells that my Grandfather (Lawson) was a horse trader (i.e. theif) until he "got religion" and became a preacher. My father, Adrian, followed suit...about the preacher bit, anyway! Interestingly enough, my sister and I both married preachers...and a foster child my parents raised also became a preacher!

This is probably boring for you...but Oh, MY GOODNESS...it is so exciting for me! Thank you so much!

Do you know what ship John Peter and Anna Budd sailed on and from where? My uncle Jack (John Peter IV), has John Peter I listed as Johann Peter Gernert. I also heard that they sailed from Rotterdam. However, I can't seem to find anything. I've found other clues that says Andres Budd, Anna's father, went back to Germany and served in the Army there.

I'm trying to put together my family history and to also apply to the Sons of The American Revolution. Any information would help considerably.]

Thank You.
Sincerely,
Timothy L. Gernert

Hi Joyce,
Appreciated finding the Springhill Cemetery info with a number of William Clink Sr b. 1777 family members and their husbands on the site. I have learned that an older Clink burial site called by some perhaps jokingly the "Clinktown Cemetery" was located on the site of Milton Hamilton Clink''s b. 1841 farm probably near South Auburn or in West Auburn near the border with Bradford County and perhaps along the road that goes to Laceyville. Not sure of the exact location of this farm; but the story from one old family source is that in Milton H. Clink's field on a hill were some graves and that local pioneer William Clink Sr. b.. 1777 who died sometime between 1830 and 1840 in Auburn Township is buried there. While I realize this probably lost and abandoned cemetery is in a farmer's field today not in Bradford County, old William Clink and some of his children had lived from time to time In Bradford County according to local history. Unfortunately the family records of a older brother John Clink b. 1774 that joined him in AUburn Township abt. 1824 are practically non-existent and at this one his sons Stephen Clink b. 1807 that went to Lee County, Ill and his younger brother John Clink b. 1814 who married Phoebe Pratt has been mixed up with the children of old William Clink Sr. and Margaret Hanson. At least one William's sons however did go with three Clink Cousins David Clink b. 1805, Stephen Clink b. 1807 and John Clink b. 1814 and that was a William Clink Jr. b. 1800 who was married to Rebecca Hurlburt. No doubt some of your researchers are familiar with the Hurlburt family.

My research project over the last five years is a history and family tree of the 18th century Dutchess Count, New York State Klincks the children of Johann Georg KLinck/Clinck and his second wife Phoebe Thornton. William CLinck Sr. b. 1777 was an older brother of my great-great-great grandfather Stephen Clink 1786-1871 who like William originated in New YOrk State; but settled in Upper Canada in 1811. HIs brother William Clink is said by one of your local histories to have come to Pennsylvania by abt. 1810 and the census records bear that out.

I would be happy to answer any e-mail inquiries about the Clink family and am interested in contacting any Clink descendants in your area. If anyone is interested in taking a fall drive and locating this Clinktown Cemetery or through a local family farm atlas has an idea where this Milton Clink farm was I would appreciate. If it was in Ontario Canada I could find it quickly; but I am not familiar with land records or how your family records are indexed in your County and State.

regards
Donald Clink

Hi -
I have begun tracking my family history on the Bowen side (finished as far as I can get on the Forker/Hitchock side) and was wondering if you have any info on the Ernest Bowen (my Grandfather) buried in the Warren Center Cemetery with the Birth/Death dates of 1911/1953. He would have died of Tuburculosis. I also was wondering if you have any info on his parents (Will Bowen is all I know as his father) and any possible family tree you can direct me to on them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Hello Ms. Tice,
I am a real beginner, this is my first attempt at trying to look into my families past. I am searching for any information on my Maternal Grandfather Harry Catlin born in South Waverly, Pa on February 13, 1881. He is apparently related to George Catlin the artist whos paintings were all about indians. This is all the information I have on my Grandfathers past. He died in 1952 in Cuernava, Mexico. of lung cancer. Can you help me? If there is any information you might have on him or his family it would be much appreciated.

From reading your letter to the public, it sounds like you are certainly a dedicated person in genealogy. Hats off to you. I don't know how anyone can have that much patience and stick to-itiveness. 1996 Is a long time !!!!!!!

I'm searching for any available information about WILLIAM LOOMIS. He was born in the state of New York in about 1804-5. He married ELVIRA VAN TASSEL, daughter of Henry and Margaret McKenzie Van Tassel, however, he may have been married before the marriage to Elvira. I'm not certain they were in Bradford Co, however, I recently saw the Loomis/Van Tassel names posted using Bradford, PA as a reference. The Loomis and Van Tassel families moved on west to IL sometime in the 1830's. Thanks for any assistance you might provide.

From: DBlauvelt
To: JoyceTice

Joyce,

Your web is fantastic.

Regarding the cemetery transcription for the Kingsley family in the old section of Glenwood Cemetery in Troy, Bradford Co, PA, Joshua and wife Lucy Kingsley are noted, both 80 years old. Joshua and Lucy (Robinson) Kingsley were virtually the same age through 6 successive censuses in Pittsford, Rutland Co, VT. Lucy was the oldest child of Eliab and Lucy (Richardson) Robinson, and thus a 6th generation lineal descendant of Rev. John Robinson, pastor of the 1620 Mayflower Pilgrims, who did not make it to America. Only his son Isaac did in 1629 from whom all such descendants in America come from.. Joshua Kingsley, the father of Nathaniel buried in this plot, was a lineal descendant of Mary Billington, a first generation 1620 Mayflower passenger.

Lucy was born 12 Feb 1778 in Windham, Windham Co, CT, per family history and the Town of Windham vital records. Hence, the date of her death on 14 Feb 1869 at age 80 must be either a typo or if it is what is actually on her grave stone, the date is overstated by 10-years. Lucy purportedly died on the same date in 1859, not 1869. On the other hand, if in fact she did die in 1869, she was 90 versus 80 years old.

She and Joshua were still residing in Pittsford, VT in the 1850 census, and Lucy is not enumerated with the family of her two sons Nathaniel and Ralph, who are in the 1860 Troy census. Lucy and Joshua's son-in-law and daughter, Elhanan S. and Elmina (Robinson) Winslow were residing next door to Lucy and Joshua in Pittsford, VT in 1850. Elhanan Spencer Winslow was a 7th generation desscendant of Edward Winslow of the Mayflower.

In 1855 the Winslow family moved to Newton, Jasper Co, IA. The Winslow's perhaps dropped the elder Kingsleys off in Troy during that move. However, I am not convinced that Joshua and Lucy are actually buried in Troy versus Iowa. Hence, the inclusion of Joshua and Lucy in the Kingsley plot is dependent on whether there is an actual separate stone for them, or merely a large single monolith for all of the family buried there, which may be the reason for the date problems.

I live in S. Florida. Is it possible that one of your volunteers could check their records or possibly the next time they are at the cemetery, or even the cemetery itself, could see if in fact there are separate stones for Lucy and Joshua, and what clear date is stated for Lucy?

Thanks for your time

Hello Joyce,
I knew I'd never find it in public record but 'someone' someplace had the information on her exact birth date. I have it in my book, Decendants of William Lain & Kaziah Mather also. I was 'hoping" ( know a high hope) that someone might have some kind of documentation of her or know if born in PA or NY as all census's say NY but all other references say Daggett Mills or Daggett.. NY! (Of course there's no such place) lol .

I think I'll have to follow the lead more in Michigan as that's where she moved with her father.. but her and David moved back to the Tri-Counties area although I'll be darned I can find them for sure. Their children are all over the place there. You're right about all the nooks and crannies to the site. I seem to come across something else or another relative every time I go looking on it. Of interest, the Wells Twp. historian wrote me and said that yes, Daggett and Daggett Mills are two different places about a mile apart. That there's a historical marker for Daggett Mills about a mile from Daggett. He also mentioned that in many books and references they are usually lumped together as the same place. You have such a wonderful site. The people on this mailing list are great! It's the only list like this I've ever joined due to so many spam issues and to much e-mail. The users sure make the difference.

Thanks again for such a wonderful site and I hope to soon have more personal letters and stories from the correspondence between my grandparents and various relatives in the area from the 1950's-1970's. I need to get my mother to photo copy them and send to me. They contain a wealth of information about various people and different families in the area.
Take care,

Looking for info on Nancy and William GIBBS. Nancy was born 7 Nov 1848. On the back of an 1863 photo she apparently sent to her brother, William, who was then in the army, she noted that she was 15 y.o. and listed her address as Monroeton, Bradford Co., PA.

Interested in any info about the life of Nancy; her brother; their families; and descendents.

I am looking for information on a CLARENCE of FRANK LUCKY of Canton PA. He was a shoe maker. And also info for HATTIE EVELYN NEWCOME(NEWCOME) who married Clarance or Frank. The family history that I have names him as Clarence who is buried in the Main St. Cemetery and was a shoe maker but the only LUCKEY I can find in that cemetery is F.H. LUCKEY.And the 1880 census has a Frank H. LUCKEY as a shoe maker. Also the 1880 census has BENJAMIN and Jane NEWCOMB with 3 children and none of them is HATTIE EVELYN NEWCOMB. The family history says that BENJAMIN and Sara NEWCOMB are HATTIES parents and that they are buried in the Beech Flats Cemetery in the Canton area. There is a BENJAMIN NEWCOME buried there.I can't seem to find anymore LUCKEYS or NEWCOMES though. I would like to trace them back a lot farthur. I did find a couple of LUCKYS in a cemetery in Wellsburg NY but can't tie them to the Lucky in canton. My great Grandmother was GRACE ORFA LUCKEY daughter Of HARRIET EVELYN NEWCOMB and CLARENCE LUCKEY or FRANK H. LUCKEY. I sure could use the help if anyone has any info. GRACE ORFA LUCKYs daughter ALYCE LUCKEY (LUCKY), my Grandmother. married JOHN FREDRICK KENNEDY b.1872 d. Dec,1956 from Fermoy Cork Co. Ireland. Johns parents were PATRICK JOHN KENNEDY and ELIZABETH ALLOWAY from Ireland.

After Patrick died near Scranton PA, Elizabeth married a MR. Cline and she died a short time later and is supposed to be buried in St. Peter and Pauls Cemetery in Elmira NY.

Hi Joyce,
I found your information very usefull, only it seems that I am at a loss. My Father stated that my Grandfather was born in Wysox Pennsylvania in 1903 under the name Thomas Edward Murphy. He had a sister whose name was Catherine Murphy and later married a John Maloney. I don't seem to find any information stating that my Grandfather even existed. My father practically has no information on him, because my Grandfather died at an early age in 1952, leaving my Dad and his brothers without much information.

It is possible that the Mother on Thomas Edward Murphys side was named Reidy. I have already checked much of Rootsweb.com, but don't seem to get much help from there.

Maybe you can tell me what other options I have. Thank you.
- Catherine

Hello Joyce,
I see your name is all over the Bradford Co. site. I am crawling (beaten and ashamed) of the unbelievable brick wall I have hit (time and time) again. If you can help me in any way I would be most grateful. I have my genealogy back tons of generations in all directions but this one. Let me give you what I have and if you can either help yourself or forward my email to someone who can - thanks! I simple can not find the spaceship that drop these people off.

I'm trying to find my own sir name "Benjamin". This is what I know:

William W. Benjamin (Born abt 1846, Died 3Jan1927) buried in Park Cemetery, Canton, Bradford Co, Pa. He live in West Virginia at least in 1900 (I have a diary of his from that year and he was in Davis, WV. - although his wife was still in PA until November of 1900). He was a logger. I am also fairly sure that he was in the civil war (Pvt CO. C, 47th Regt, PA Vol Inf; and Co B, 8th PA Cav).

His wife Dora E Behr (Born abt 1856) Although I've seen her name as "Dona" - it must have been hard to read and transcribe. Her name is clearly written in the 1900 diary as "Dora".

Known children of these two are:
Ethel A (born abt 1895 in ?WV?)
Mable L (born abt 1898 in ?WV?)
Lee Herbert (born 9May1900 in PA (the diary has an entry on 9May as "My wife gave birth to a son today") died 29Oct1975)
Lee is my Grandfather.

Also, if it is close to you and not too much to ask, if you could find the stones of William and Dora in Park Cemetery and take photos (and/or) write down what is on the stones - I would gladly reimburse you for your troubles. I hope to some day get up to Bradford and try and find the graves myself. I live just outside of Allentown, PA - but I just don't have enough to go on yet to make the trip worth it.

Thanks for everything.
Mark Benjamin

My name is Joseph Warren McNett. I am 35 Years old and I live in Palatka Fl. I found your website and the information you had on the McNett family and I am trying to see if you know any of my family from up there. I know very little about my family, but I do know that my mother and father came from Wellsboro. My father is Warren Joseph McNett and he married Jennie Frost. I have visited there a few times as a young boy. I remember the McNett cemetery and the McNett township. My grandfather's name was Francis Listen McNett and he was married to a woman named Leona and later married a younger woman named Darlene. I met an uncle Buster McNett and also an aunt Marie who was married to Ken Doan. I know I had an uncle David McNett, also known as Buck. I have an aunt Joyce that married a man named Dave and the last I knew they lived in OK. I had an uncle Carvel McNett and an aunt Polly. When I was young and visited my grandpa, he lived in Towanda.

Do you have any info on any of these people that you could share with me, or do you know if there is a website that I could go to in order to get more info?

Any info you have would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Is the Old Bailey Cemetery, Granville, and the Granville Center Cemetery one and the same?

Abraham Parkhurst is listed as being buried in the Granville Center Cemetery and is shown in parenthesis after the "Old Bailey Cemetery" listing, too. The Old Bailey Farm listing is not accessible to read the names of those buried there.

Thank you.

Hi, Joyce - Carol Brotzman is a cousin by marriage and has been a God-send in helping me research my family history. She has found out SO much for me!

Anyway, would you know who would have any records for the Beaver Meadows Cemetery?

I'm trying to find out what hospital my great-great grandmother Juliet Ross (Snell) Featherbay Brown Woodruff died in on July 17, 1910. It was supposedly a Buffalo NY hospital, but Erie County, NY says it has no death certificate for her. She is buried in Beaver Meadow and perhaps the cemetery records would have some information.

I am trying to find a record with the names Juliet's parents, Otis Ross and Harriet Devine, on it (Harriet is also buried in Beaver Meadow with her second husband, Orlando B. Snell).

I am compiling documentation as "proof" to join the Mayflower Society.

Thanks!

Subj: Query: who was Ebenezer Horton's wife?

From: marguerite.puca@prudential.com
To: JoyceTice@aol.com

Joyce -
I have a question regarding the wife of Ebenezer Horton. Heverly's "Pioneer and Patriot Families of Bradford County" supplies the following information:

1. Volume 1, page 6: Ebenezer Horton married Mary Terry, daughter of Jonathan and Abigail (Terry) Terry in Terrytown in October of 1805.

2. The section "Early Marriages, Justices, and Ministers in Bradford County - Records from 1830 to 1840" shows:

1833 - November 21, in Wilmot, by Justice Thomas Ingham, Samuel F. Miller and Miss Julia, daughter of Ebenezer and Abigail (Terry) Horton.

3. Volume 1, page 147-148: Jonathan Terry and his wife (Abigail Terry, a second cousin) had 11 children, including a Mary and an Abigail.

So, which Terry was Ebenezer married to, Mary or Abigail?

Thanks for your help.
