Searching information in Tioga Co. on Robert PLANK, who married Hannah Cooper June 20, 1723. May be ancestor of Jean Planche. The book "Genealogical and Personal History of Northern PA" says, "The earliest record of Tioga Co. branch leads to Robert Plank (as the name soon became spelled), who married Jun 20 1723 Hannah Cooper…" Robert soon relocated to Killingly, CT.

Any information of Robert PLANK ancestor would be appreciated.

I hope you can help me. this is the last family line that want to find. I have spend countless hours searching. Short of going to Penn. I hope you can find my Great great grandmothers maiden name and her parents as well as my great great grandfather.

Grand mother born and Died in CT. Pansy Belle Swyden, Riley, Fox.
Her mother born in Tioga county Pa.1885 died in Mystic Ct.1977: Lillian Mae Sears, Swyden, Phillips, Caswell, Moore.
Lillian's mother was Mary (E)? Sears (married name) born 1860, married 1880 to James Sears(dob 1858 NY). both his parents are from NY. Mary's parents: mother born in CT and father born in PA. don't know any of their names.
Children of James and Mary are:
Ida K Sears dob. feb 1880
Daisy B Sears dob feb. 1884
Earnest dob July 1891

I know they lived in PA during 1860 through 1895, then some time after that they moved to Windom county CT. I would be very greatfull if you could let me know anything at all. I am tring to put together a family tree. I never knew any of our grandparents they all passed away very early in life, but Great Gramma Lillian was the only one alive when our generation was around and she was such a great lady I would like to know more about her. Never thought to ask her when she was alive and I regret that.

Thank you for any info
The Great granddaughter of Lillian Sears. Cecile Shirely

Subject: Beechey

I'm seeking any information I can acquire on ANNA BEECHEY. I believe she was the daughter of MORGAN BEECHEY SR. and MARGARET EVANS BEECHEY. This Beechey family was large, comprised of fourteen children. ANNA was born in 1891 and died in 1930. One source listed her as a dressmaker, single, living with family members at 39 Summit St. in Morris Run, Pa. She married my maternal grandfather, Elmer D. Allen, in abt. 1911, location unknown. They made their home in Presho, N.Y. where she bore ten children. As noted, she died in 1930 and is buried in Savory Cemetery in Catlin township, Chemung county. N.Y. If she was, in fact, the daughter of MORGAN BEECHEY SR., then her brother, MORGAN BEECHEY JR., was killed in a mine accident in 1941. I'm hoping this fact may jar a memory or two. I also believe that the elder Beechey immigrated to the US from Wales in abt. 1870.

That's all the information I have on this person at this time. If anyone out there has any knowledege of Anna or her family, I'd greatly appreciate your contacting me, no matter how trivial the info may seem. Thank you all in advance.

I am currently working on the Family Trees of Tioga County Pennsylvania Polish residents. In my Data Base I now have some 5,000 Polish names of families from Morris Run, Hamilton and Blossburg/Bloss Town/Arnot, Elmira NY, Williamsport PA and South Bend Indiana. The primary origination point in Prussia was the Diocisis of Gniezno, Parish of Znin and Sub Parish of Srebrnagora. This sub parish encompassed the towns, villas and estates of Podolin, Turza, Smuszewo Wapno, Mokronosy and Aleksandrowo to name a. few. A. substantial number of Polish immigrants to Tioga County came from these communities. Information that I have was gleaned from Census figures, Church records in Poland, St Casimirs Parish, Elmira, NY, St. Marys and St Josephs, Tioga Church records, obits from the Elmira Star Gazette, Blossburg Advertiser , Welsboro Agitator, Posen (Poznan) and Gnesen (Gniezno) Adress-Buchs and other pertinent records. I am interested in names changes principally the Anglicization of names and the variations that the names evolved. Example: Pawlak, Pavlock, PABLOCK, PAVOLAK, PAWLOCK etc. are all the same name with the origination at Podolin, Prussia. I will help you with your family history. If it is not in my data base, I will endeavor to find your history from these towns. All I require is that you provide at least two historical family photographs. Also, you will need the latest version of the Family Tree Maker to view the information.

I do know they lived in Blair County around 1885 where my Grandfather, Charles Andrew Cook was born. The moved around but he was raised in the Bloss,Arnot areas. He attended Blossburg High School. Dear Pat, My name is Janice Moore. I reside in Canandaigua, NY. I found your name and e-mail address on a Tri-County History Website. I have been sorting through my father's estate and in the process of initiating an auction on May 20. One of the many items located was an old painting signed by a Clayton Spencer. My family was not sure where it came from and I thought that perhaps it had belonged to my grandparents after I had checked the Internet and found a Clayton Spencer from Tioga Co. where my grandmother was from. Her maiden name was Vanderhoof. I had learned that a Mr. Spencer was married to an Elizabeth Claflin 2-18-1880, and he worked in a tannery. Do you have any knowledge if perhaps he also was a painter or have any other info you could share before May 20?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Hello, I am searching for information regarding my great-great-grandfather, Barney Ballard FRENCH from Tioga County. In 1850s he received land patents in WI. He fought in the Civil War while in WI. His father may have been Abraham FRENCH.

He married Susan BUCK DREW, also from the tri-county area, most likely Tioga County also. She was the daughter of BALDWIN DREW of NY.

I have information on the Drew line, but very little on FRENCH family.

Joyce: Thank you for this great site! I have wonderful memories of visiting my grandparents and family in Nelson, Westfield and Lawrenceville. My grandmother was Bertha MACDONALD WEAVER. She was born in 1905 and died in 1985. She was a nurse/widwife and apparently women would come to her home to give birth to their baby and then they would stay there so that my grandmother could take care of them. I wonder if anyone would have any memories to share of their time there at my grandmother's and their deliveries. I am told that it would be very unusual for there to be a midwife who was also a nurse during this time period. She was also a school board president of the N. Tioga County School System. My grandparent's house was taken by the new dam.

Thank you! Cyndy Knight (N.C.)
