Subject: BABCOCK

BABCOCK FAMILY INQUIRY: In searching the 1860 Census records, I found puzzling listings for two different BABCOCK families: Willis & Rosa ages 32 and 30, with their children Eugene, Hellen, and Willis. I also found H.W. & Rosamond, ages 36 and 28, with their children Eugene, Alice, Willie, and William. There are separate family numbers and separate dwelling numbers. Is there anyone who has information on these two families? H. Willis and Rosa are buried in Wells, Minnesota.

It's so unusual to see the parents names and two of the children so similar. Anyone have any clues for me?
Thanks!! Linda K. Shaw

Subject: GRAHAM
Date: 5/30/2007

I am searching all Graham families who were in Tioga 1700-1800s, moving on to Upper Canada (Ontario) then on to Michigan. Some probably migrated directly to Michigan.

My direct ancestor was William Henry Graham, married to Martha/Margaret?Sarah (also known as Pattey) Sweet. Their son, James Sweet Graham, born about 1824, listed Athol, Prince Edward County, Ontario as his birthplace on his marriage registration to Margaret Houghtaling (daughter of Wm. Houghtalin and Mary Davy). James and his family (with a second wife, Louise Regan) moved on to Clare County MI around 1871.

Dear Joyce,
In my genealogy search, I've become very frustrated in trying to find out where my great great Aunt Emma Dibble Clark is buried and when she died.

She is listed in the Potter Brook Pioneer cemetery page on your site, and I have even been to the cemetery and seen my Uncle Byron and Aunt Emma's grave stone. But I can't find out any more information about Emma.

Here is what is on your site (and also on the gravestone) :

I have a Weeks family that moved to Washington state from Pennsylvania. One of the postcards from their family showed Sabinsville, and it may be where they lived at one point. There is an "X" over one building. I am not sure when they moved out here. Edith A. Weeks was born in PA in 1869. I am hoping that somebody can help me find her family.

Subject: Tioga County, Arnot, Clydesdale family
From: James Carney ,
Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2007

I am searching for a death record of my great-great-great grandfather, James Clydesdale. He and his family immigrated from Scotland sometime between 1872 and 1882 and lived in Arnot. He died in Arnot, and then his wife and family moved to Du Bois by 1889. I am trying to find a death date.

I reviewed the Arnot Presbyterian Church's records on-line with no luck. However, the death records on the web seem to have discontinued at 1877 when I believe he probably died in the 1880's.

I did notice a very interesting wedding dated 12/23/1881 between Sarah Clydesdale w George Ogdencamp. I don't know the birth date of James or his wife(Martha), but I know their child Martha was born in 1871 and married in 1889. The mentioned Sarah could be a sister of James Clydesdale but I suspect it is more likely an elder daughter.

Thanks for any help.

Subject: Tioga County - Buck
From: "Jean Clemons"
Date: Sun, 25 Feb 2007

I am researching Henry Mortimer Buck who married Kyeak Bradford, unknown when or where. Kyeak was an Indian and the spelling of her first name may not be correct. I find no info on either of the two individuals.

Family members say Kyeak was a school teacher, where, not sure, probably in or around the Covington, Tioga County, PA area. According to family Henry was in Covington, Tioga County, PA area about 1820. Have info on two of their children, but have learned there are three daughters - Eliza, Mariette, and Jane. According to family Eliza married a George (believe that is his last name) Mariette and Jane married Cleveland/Cleaveland men.

Not sure if all three stayed in Tioga County, PA or migrated to other counties. Also, according to family, Henry left or Kyeak died sometime after 1846 taking with him 3 of the children. Hooked up with another woman and had at least two more children - John and Belle. Believe Henry could have gone to Chemung County, NY, but cannot find any proof of such.

Anyone researching this family line I would love to hear from you. Thank you for your time and trouble. Jean Clemons

Subject: CATT- Tioga County

Looking for information on Martha CATT, born in England, maybe in Tunbridge, Kent, 3 Feb 1819. Came to this country in 1837 at age 18. ( Or, could also have come from Hastings.) This confirms birth date of 1819. (However, listed in 1870 census as 57 years old).

Lived in Richmond Twp. Tioga Co. PA. According to the records of the Methodist Church in Mansfield, she died 14 Sep 1906 in Mansfield, Tioga. Married George Slingerland and they had two sons, John and James.

Would like to know if other CATT family members came from England with her, and if so their names, children's names, etc. Are there any CATT descendents now living in the area of Tioga, Bradford, Chemung Counties who would have information on Martha's ancestors? I would appreciate any information on Martha CATT.

Subject: Re:Walker family in Athens?
Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2007

Please help. My GGGgrandfather, Jacob Reep (who would becomke the first PERMANENT settler in Lawrenceville, PA) married Amy Walker. family genealogy says that she was born in 1766 in Athens, PA. In 1795 she and Jacob moved from Athens (where they had spent the winter with Amy's 4 brothers & a sister). First, I know that Athens was not "Athens" until 1812 or so. Secondly, is it possible that a white girls was born at Tioga Point in 1766? If, indeed, she was bron there in 1766, is it possible she was Indian? Why are the Walkers not listed among the early settlers?

My name and address are: Donald E. KnausWellsboro, PA 16901 Telephone: (570) 723-4290

I made the request because I have had respect for your website for some time. I am on a genalogical journey. I trace my ancestry back to the Jacob Reep and Amy (Walker) Reep mentioned in the original request. I will eventually find out the answer to my request. I would appreciate any help, ideas or suggestions.

Subject: IVES

Looking for information on a Micheal IVES who married a Lydia DICKINSON. Micheal said to be Micheal Erskine IVES, son of John IVES. Michael estimated to have been born 1795 in CT, as were his father and Micheal's brothers, Roswell, John and Asael(?) Micheal IVES found on the 1830 Tioga, Tioga Co., Penn. census with 3 male children, and adult male and an adult female. Lydia Dickinson, is hopefully, that Lydia Dickinson who was the daughter of James Dickinson. She was born in 1803 according to family information.

There is a Lydia IVES the right age on the 1860 and 1870 Middlebury, Tioga Co., Penn. census, living with a Burke IVES (no relationship given). In 1880 she is again on the census, but in the household of V.W. Lewis in Middlebury Twp.

Does anyone have IVES family information about this family of a Micheal and Lydia IVES in the time frame from 1830-1880. Tioga County?

Hopefully???? Denise b. LaRue Ervasti

Subject: Tioga County

Am looking for information on the family of Noah LOSEY and his wife, Mary Ann. Noah born abt. 1820 in NY according to the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census in Tioga Co. (Middlebury Tp first two and Chatham the last) He is last found in 1880 census in Maine, Broome Co., NY in the household of his daughter's family, Martin V. Payne and Mary. Cemetery tombstone reference to Noah and his wife are found in that county. The 1850 and 1860 census find Moses and Sally BRALEY in Noah's household. No relationship given. They are born, @1795 and 1803 respectively in Conn. and NY. By the 1880 census, we find her in the household of Isaac Losey and wife Eleanor, where the census indicates that Salley is the Mother in law of Isaac. Sally nor Moses are found on the 1870 census in Tioga county, so far. Cemetery records in Tioga county have thme buried in Tioga Co.

Can anyone help me to determine the connection between Mary Ann (and her possible parents the Braleys) to the Dickinson-Abbot line who went to Wisc.

In a letter from Mary Ann Losey to Hulda Dickinson (the daughter of James and his second wife, Electa) in Wisconsin, Mary Ann sends her love to 'Aunt Linda' who is most surely Belinda (Dickinson) Abbott, wife of Elnathan George Abbott, and daughter of the above James Dickinson and his first wife Samantha/Semanthy.

Looking forward to any help.
