Subject:  William Butler
Date:  5/30/2008
From:  rarmentrout@pwcgov.org

I am looking for my Great Great Grandfather. His name according to the 1880 census is William Butler and he was 72 years old and living in Sunbury PA with his daughters family (Laura or Lora Butler- Perry)

I found in the 1850 Census a possible match.  It said that William was born in Vermont and his wife in PA. In 1850 they made there home in Bloss, Tioga, PA, and I am hoping that they are buried there.

My thought is that if William was 72 in 1880, how much longer did he live. He does not sure up in the 1890 census because it was destroyed in a fire. He would have been 82. He does not show up in the 1900 census, because I would thought that he would have died by then (92).

I have been looking for a long time, so can you help me look in the cemeteries in your area?

Thanks.  Let me know if there is a charge.

His wife`s name was Susan GUERIN, born abt. 1848 place NY. Her father`s name was William GUERIN born about 1822 place NY.Iwould like any information about these people and their familys, as far back as you can.

Ira & Betsy Bates had 5 children:
Clara Bates B: Feb. 8, 1836  D: July 4, 1929 Manawa, WI (Waupaca County)
Ira Bates Jr.
Sarah Bates B: 1845 D: 1935

All were born in Chatham Township, Tioga County, PA.

In the year 1829 some of the taxables were, Beersheba Bates, Asa Bates & John Bates.

I have two newspaper reports on the death of my great-great-great grandmother Sophia HOEY Green.  Both said she was born in 1814.  One said she was born in Tioga County, Penn., the other said she was born at Sweetley, Pa. I cannot find Sweetley in Tioga County or anywhere else in Pennsylvania.  Has anyone heard of Sweetley?

Thank you.

Subject: LEVERING
Date: 2/7/08
From: abbottphyllis@sbcglobal.net

Joyce,
Jenny P. Levering who in 1880 was in the care of T.O. Hollis is a person I have been searching for and one that I have run into a wall. She is my great-grandmother and I believe she was in these people's care at 6 years of age in 1880 because either her mother was unmarried or there may have been hardship or tragedy in the family. My mother knew little about her grandmother. She married Charles Conover and her son Harold D Conover. He was my grandfather who died at 20 years of age and had married my grandmother Violet Steinmetz.

I think Jenny's mother may have been Ida Levering but I have no proof. They were all from Pennsylvania and my mother (Grace Conover) was born in Lancaster herself. Her dad (Jenny's son) died in Chester County and was from there. I have a site on ancestry.com call Westfall Abbott Family were all of the information I have is posted.

I would love to break through this barrier and find out more about Jenny P. Levering and/or the family who cared for her T.O. Hollis. If there is any direction you can give me, I would appreciate it and I will give you any information I have if you need it. Jenny does not show up in any census after 1880 as Jenny Levering. She does not show up until she becomes Jenny P. Conover. I do have newspaper articles about the accident that caused the death of Harold D. Conover, (her son) but no obituary.

I know you request no genealogy request, but this is as close as I have come to this family and I truly I can find out who T.O. Hollis is and why Jenny was living with him.

Thanks. Phyllis (Westfall) Abbott

Subject: Krebs and Hoenes families: Tri-Counties
From: "Beck Sams", BeckSams@msn.com

Hello Joyce,

It's been years since I wrote. I hope this finds you well and in good spirits. I have tried everything humanly possible, and now I hope you can help me.

I am searching for: the family of Carolyn Amelia HOENES b 28 Nov 1916 PA d 8 Mar 2006 PA.

Carolyn married Clair Allen KREBS b 24 Apr 1914 Larryville, Lycoming Co., PA d 9 Mar 1992 Upper Darby, Havertown, Delaware Co., PA.

Clair was the son of Chester Allen KREBS b 1886 Swengel, Union Co., PA and Lenore Jennie Stout Siner b 1896 Lycoming Co., PA.

This tiny family has finally gotten the best of me, and I cannot imagine where else to look for Carolyn's family. Rootsweb doesn't even have the Hoenes surname, so I started a Hoenes RSL.

My maternal line of TENBROECK 's has also been the bane of my existence for many, many years and I feel I have run out of searching for them, although they were born, lived and died in the same county (TIOGA COUNTY) for their entire lives. They are ones that simply vanish into thin air.

Thank you in advance. I wouldn't normally ask this way, but I am somewhat Desperate ! {Grin}

Hi, I am looking for information on my ggrandfather Richard J. RUSSELL. On his draft cards and his death certificate it states he was born in Gaines, Pa on Nov. 30, 1884 and that his fathers name was Michael. The earliest I can find him is in the 1910 census with my grandfather and other family members. His father Michael was born in Ireland. I am hoping someone can find information in Tioga county to confirm this.

Thankyou, Alison Clayton

Hi- I am trying to find information on Lloyd BALLARD born 1852, 1861 or 1862. There is a Lloide or Llorde in Mansfield Borough in 1900 census and a Lloyd in 1880 census. The 1900 census contains a son Joseph who is my grandfather. There are references in Ballard-Bowman family bible to a Lloyd Ballard. He and all his brothers moved to Ohio and Montana but a sister Ethel may have stayed in area.

Thanks for your site and all the great people.
