Subject: TIOGA - HENRY JONES visits Blossburg Jan 1903
From: eloinec@comcast.net
Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2009

Can anyone suggest how I may find whose funeral was held in Blossburg, Tioga County, PA between Jan. 1, 1903 and Jan. 15, 1903? I found the following item in an extract from the Scranton Republican dated Saturday, January 10, 1903 “Henry H. Jones and daughter, Annie Jones, 117 Morris court, [ Scranton, PA ] have gone to Blossburg, PA, to attend the funeral of a relative.” I have no idea what the name of the deceased person was but feel it must have been a very close relative for them to have traveled so far in the middle of winter.

Subject:  HARRINGTON
From: "Doyle Brown" <16273brown@comcast.net>

Date: Sat, 8 Aug 2009 10:50:39 -0400

Hello, My name is Jean Brown.
I am searching for the family of Mary Elizabeth HARRINGTON. She was born 1834 (in PA?). She married my Great Grandfather, Wallace L. SCOTT in Blossburg, Tioga, PA in 1856. They moved to Grand Rapids, WI in 1862. They had two children: Mary Elizabeth and William Gideon. She died 17 Sept. 1867 in Grand Rapids, WI.
It was thought that her Father's name was William. She had a brother named George who served in the Civil War. He was born 1835-6 and died in Chicago 26 April 1909. Family story was that three brothers were assigned to serve with Custer in MT. but one was sick and didn't report. I have not been able to confirm that. Also, Wallace was a glass blower (tender) so he may have been in that area for that reason? There may also be a JOSLIN connection. I have lots of info on the SCOTT family and would be happy to share. Thanks.

Subject: STACY Family in Jackson/Rutland Tioga County, Penn.
From: Pat Stacy (pstacy415@bellsouth.net)
Date: 6/26/2009

Daniel and Mehitable STACY lived in Camden, Oneida County, NY. They had 3 children, William D. STACY (b: Abt 1815), Caroline STACY (b: 26 Jul 1817) and Orrin P. STACY (b: 29 Aug. 1819). Daniel died Sept. 8, 1825. Mehitable and the children vanished. On this site, I found where William D. STACY of Jackson and Ann JOHNSON of Rutland were married by the Rev. S. Grenell on Oct. 26, 1847. In the 1850 Jackson Township census, I found where William's and Ann's first child, Millicent Ann STACY, was born. By 1860, William and Ann STACY had returned to NY and a Martin JOHNSON, age 59, was living with them. What happened to Mehitable, Caroline and Orrin? And who was Ann Johnson? Any help will be appreciated.

Subject: HARKNESS
From: Froberger@aol.com
Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2009 21:15:31 EST

I am doing research on Beulah Winegar, born Bulah C. HARKNESS in Wellsboro in 1899. Her father was Charles HARKNESS. I have the basic U.S. Census info for the necessary years. She went on to become a graduate of Ithaca College in NY as a musician. In the 1920 census she lists her occupation as teacher of music and art at public school in Tioga. I would be interested in where the family lived in Wellsboro and in which school Beulah taught.

She moved to Bay Shore, Long Island, NY by 1924 and married Perry Winegar in 1926. She is buried here in Bay Shore in Oakwood Cemetery next to her husband, but there is no tombstone. I would like to know more about her earlier life in Tioga County.

Many thanks, Tom Bailey

Subject: Nellie WHITNEY - Tioga
From: Robert <corgidad705@cox.net>
Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2009 13:05:08 -0700

I am looking for burial information for my aunt, Nellie WHITNEY, born about 1891. According to her wedding announcement, she was "of Wellsboro Junction, Pa.", and married to Eugene Miller in March 1917. Nellie lived on Meads Creek Rd. in Coopers Plains, NY when she died sometime in the 1950s. She and Eugene, who died in Jan 1970, were said to be buried in Wellsboro, PA, but I have not been able to find a record of them on the Tri-Counties website for Tioga cemeteries. Other surnames in her family may be Plumley and Stocum. Robert Miller Scottsdale, AZ

From the Batavia Daily News, 19 March 1917: "Miss Nellie Agnes Whitney of Wellsboro Junction, Pa., was married to Eugene Elmer Miller, son of William F. Miller of No. 153 Ross street, by the Rev. Charles W. Walker at the Methodist Episcopal parsonage on Saturday afternoon. They were unattended."

Subject: Query - Emma QUACKENBUSH
From: Phhill1111@cs.com
Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2009 00:15:08 EST

Hi I was doing research on your site and I noticed a query from SSpaulding regarding Emma Quackenbush. My mother's great grandmother was Lucy Colony Quackenbush Booth. She married Samuel Booth in 1888. Lucy was previously married to a Quackenbush (I do not know his first name). They had two children, Edith Quackenbush Harrington and Emma Quackenbush Jones. Samuel Booth was her second husband and they had two children, Pearl Booth Lewis and Lee Booth who drowned in the Tioga River in 1906. Lucy passed away in 1932 and her obituary lists her a being buried in Evergreen Cemetary. Although your site does not list her on the cemetary roles. I have been unable to find the date of death for Samuel Booth.

I would like to find out additional information on the death of Samuel Booth and confirm the Lucy was indeed buried in Evergreen Cemetary. Any assistance you could give me would be appreciated.

Thank you,
P. Hill South Williamsport, PA
