Hi again - I suspect my NY Burns family line connects to the family of Daniel Burns of Charleston, Pa. I have gleaned most of the available info from your site about them. If you know anything additional or could refer me to someone who does I would be most grateful.

My name is Tim Pedalty. I saw your site about the 3
counties.
I was writing to you because my great grandfather John
Pedalty used to be a coal miner in Morris Run. He is listed
in the 1920 Census along with my grandfather John, who was
6 at the time of this census. While I was looking through
your site I also saw a listing for James Pedeltz (pedalty)
who was born 1840 in Yorkshire, England and immagrated to
Libety, Pa in 1860. What I am wondering is if you know of
any link between James and John, my great grandfather?
Joyce
Very impressive site.
Do you have any information on Robert Paden and his wife Mary Jones?
Mary was born in Branchdale, Schuylkill County on May 1, 1844 and married Robert Paden on ?? 11, 1864 and am not sure where they married. They may have run a boarding house or hotel. According to her obituary, which is in pieces, her and Robert settled in Morris and the only one I'm aware of is Morris, Tioga County.
Can you help?

Dear Ms. Tice: I am looking for a Woodford "Woodie" Fish and Margaret E. Henry Fish who are supposed to be buried in the above cemetary. I reviewed the entire list of burials and can not find them. I know that he died in 1981 and her newspaper article stated that her date of death was 10/18/96, the Kenyon Funeral Home in Elkland handled the arrangements and Burial was in Middlebury Union Cemetery, Kenneyville, PA. Can you help? I would appreciates any advice you might have. Woodford was my father's first cousin.
Thank you,

I was sent this file today and happened to see your article on Case-Palmer. I'm not interested in Deliliah Lydia, just her half-brother Thomas who married Isabella Wilson.

Hi Joyce,
I am looking for information on JOHN DEBOW families and the SAYLES families.
My direct descendent LEWIS O. DEBOW, son of JOHN DEBOW, was born in Tioga County July 28, 1830. In 1848 they moved to LaGrange County Indiana.
MAHALA SAYLES, daughter of JAMES SAYLES, was born in Tioga County November 6, 1830. They also moved to LaGrange County Indiana.
LEWIS O. DEBOW and MAHALA SAYLES were married in LaGrange County Indiana in 1852.
Since both LEWIS O. DEBOW and MAHALA SAYLES were born in Tioga County and then both families moved to LaGrange County Indiana and then they married, I assume their parents must have had some connection prior to the move.
Any information your could offer would be greatly appreciated, ie. specific family details or even migration pattern froms Tioga County to LaGrange County Indiana. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,

Re: PATRICK CONSADINE
Dear Ms. Tice:
I have found the name of an individual, listed in your site, who bears the
same name as my great-grandfather. I would appreciate assistance from anyone who
can advise how I may obtain more information about him.
Information I have about him is that he was born in Ireland on 11 March 1838 and he was married to Mary Dillon. In the 1880 U. S. Census, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, he is listed as having children born in New York and Pennsylvania, as well as Illinois. A daughter, Mary, is shown to be married to Samuel Whitehouse. The census information is contained on FHL Film 1254185. The name was spelled Consadine.
The family settled in Chicago and the name has since been spelled Considine. Patrick's son, Daniel, married my grandmother, Angela, nee, McDonnell. They lived mostly in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago.
The names of Patrick's parents or his exact birthplace in Ireland are most needed. I will be most grateful for any assistance. I will provide all information I have about Patrick's descendants in exchange.
Thank you.

In my stash of miscellaneous Havens information, I have a census form I filled out for 1850 Richmond, Tioga County, PA and I copied some of the names that are living in a hotel because they are PA surnames I am researching: L. S. I have a Fuller family of Bradford County as ancestors and I have a Theodosia Hunt who md. my elusive William Havens and they are the parents of the Havens I have been chasing around Bradford County: Henry H. aka Harry and his sister, Harriet "Hannah" who md. Thomas Ames. [However, neither William nor Theodosia died in PA]

My line is William Dingman b abt 1840 according to 1880 Census Tioga Co, Nelson Twp. PA. I am trying to connect or rule out the Dingman's in Potter Co. PA as possibly being related. My William Dingman was born in PA but his wife Betsey born 1845 was born in NY. They have 3 children on the 1880 Census Mary 19, Elsie17, and Ellen 8. Ellen is my great grandmother. I believe there were other children listed on previous census' but I can't find that info anywhere. I have moved a couple of times in the last few years so some of my info was lost. I believe it's possible my William may have died in 1881 in Nelson Twp. Tioga PA, but this isn't proven yet just a speculation. There had to be some reason how my Ellen got from Tioga CO. in 1880 census to Blair Co. PA where she had my grandfather. That's what I am trying to figure out.

I would like to take time to thank you for all your hard work in collecting genealogy information and making it avail on the net. I have used it extensively. I am looking for Cummings (Cummins). I have information on John and Mary, and their family. I beleive that Silas (1822) and William(1825) may be brothers. They were several censes records in Bradford Co. Ridgebury and Tioga Co., Tioga and Rutledge Township. Do you have any suggestion as where to go to find the children of John and Mary.

Thomas Havens AMES was born 04 June 1832, possibly in Mainesburg, Tioga County; married in Springfield, Bradford, PA to Lydia FULLER. Lydia died there about 1868/9 [according to Civil War pension application made by Thomas] and Thomas began to drift around between PA, NY, Michigan. He died 13 Nov. 1903 in Portland, Ionia, Michigan at the home of one of his sons. When he was in the war, he used the alias Thomas HAVENS. I have never been able to get more information on him; and have been stuck on his parents who are my real brick walls. Father: Thomas Ames from VT who married Harriet (Hannah) Havens. I keep hoping for some information from someone, especially descendants of this Ames family but have not had much luck. My previous query was posted when I was using a different e-mail address, so want to be sure my current e-mail is posted just in case someone has some information.

I am looking for information on the Nicholson family. I have 3 in my family tree. The first is John Nicholson, who had a son named Thomas (1768-1792) Thomas married Rebecca Bradner, who married Zephaniah Halsey after Thomas's death. They had a daughter named Eliza Nicholson (1799-1811) who died of cancer.
I have several letters written to and by Eliza Nicholson, as well as about 50 documents pertaining to a land dispute between Zephaniah Halsey and John Nicholson. Apparantly, the dispute occured when John left the land to Eliza after Thomas's death. When Eliza died, Zephaniah felt the land should go to him, and John wanted it back. I have not sifted through them all yet. I would like more information on this family if you have any.
Thanks for your time and assistance.

Dear Ms. Tice:
We have no certainty of information on our family name, Dingman, for my
father (Briggs P. Dingman, born 1-27-00 in Palmyra, NY to Wm. E. Dingman
(born around 1865 and from Wellsboro or nearby) and Lena Briggs Dingman (who was
from Honeoye Falls, NY) was the only child of an only child. I noted that
another Wm. Dingman of Nelson Turnpike (near Wellsboro) died on 2/1/81 from an
accident. I presume that might have been my great-grand-father but do not know.
Dingman, a Dutch name, is common in eastern PA (Dingman's Falls and Dingman's Ferry)...but I do not know for sure we're those Dingman's. William and Lena lived in West Chester, PA around 1906. He was a tinker (pot mender) and she a church organist/choir director.
Do you know of any other information that might help me find out more about my Dingman genealogy? Thanks. I now live in California.

Dear Joyce,
Your site has been, not only extremely helpful, but a joy to wander through.
I am looking for information on Patrick and Ellen GRIFFIN, farmer/laborer of
Lambs Creek and listed in the 1908 Directory for Richmond Twp. Their daughter,
Mary b. 1871 (where?) married in Oct. 1893 to Jesse H. Sturdevant b. 16 Sep
1871 in Daggett. The Sturdevants are well-documented in your Families of
Wells Township. The Griffins are noted piecemeal throughout news clippings
and such. I do note that you have some 76 Griffins in your listing of
Rutland-Sullivan research, so I'm hoping that some of them are related to us.
I will be more than happy to send you what I have of our family tree and hope
that we can connect. By the way, the Griffins were Roman Catholic and I
wonder whether that would mean they were not in the cemeteries listed, but,
perhaps, in separate cemeteries?
Thank you so much for sharing all your work!
Carol Sturdevant
Hi Joyce. I enjoy your website, and think it is beautiful with pictures, and easy to work in--however I spend HOURS!!
I am trying to find the parents of Emma Taylor. She married Eugene Wilson on Aug. 26,1889 in Corning N.Y. ( I have a lot on the Wilson's) She is buried in West Branch Cemetery and the dates are 1871-1945. Perhaps we can find her in a censes when she is still with her parents, but I have not found her yet. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you.

AUSTIN / WEBSTER - I am researching these lines in Union Township, Tioga Co, PA. After several years research on these families I have come to a dead-end on both. I am trying to determine the parents of my gg grandfather George W. AUSTIN who's wife's name was Eliza A. Their son, Francis H. and wife Weltha are buried in the Ogdensburg Church of Christ Cemetery with many other Austin relatives, but no George W. who came to Pennsylvania sometime between 1850 & 1860. He was in the 1840 & 1850 census of the village of Arlington, County of Bennington, Vermont along with Pardon AUSTIN and Elijah AUSTIN families. We see him next in the 1860/1870/1880 census of Union Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania again with Pardon AUSTIN & Ira AUSTIN families. I believe there is a link between George W. & Pardon but to date I have not been able to establish that. I am a member of the Austin Families Association of America who have researched their large AUSTIN databases for George W. but to no avail. Their genealogist believes as I do that George W. & Pardon are related. I am also trying to determine the parents of of my g grandfather William B. WEBSTER who's wife is Sarah Jencks. They were in the 1870/1880 census of Union Township. Previously, they were they were in the 1860 census of the village of Cohocton, Steuben County, New York. I have not be able to determine where in Tioga County William and Sarah are buried. I have an extensive database built up on these two families and would gladly exchange information on them.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I am attempting to find information on my ggg-grandmother Sarah Burley Carpenter w/o Jedediah Carpenter. She had four children - Mariah (poss. Maria), Elizabeth aka "Betsey" Ann Carpenter, James and Rhoda.
We believe she was born c. 1800/1802 and possibly died after 1836. In the 1850 Census for Middlebury Twp, Tioga County, Jedidiah is living with his son-in-law Alonzo Locey, and his son James (age21) and daughter, Rhoda (age 14). Betsey, my gg-grandmother, is married to Silas Howard and they have a child Chauncey (age 2).
I have checked all cemeteries in the Tri-county area with negative results. Is it possible to check a county or town census for 1830-1840 to see if Sarah is listed and/or obits or burial records to see if some record exists of her death?
Jedediah is a descendant of the Rehoboth Carpenters of MA and quite possibly this would have been in the obit or death record.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Hello, I am trying to find any info about my wifes ancestor, Samuel
Jenkins. I know from the 1850 and 1860 census that he lived in Morris
Twp, Tioga Co. This man was born in Wales 1818-1819, and without
any info (where over there he's from or who his parents are) I'm stuck.
In Wales they did not keep census' like we do. So I need the county
and town ship then look through the many town parrishes (this is where
the info was writen if at all) One huge nightmare!!
I could not find info about Sam before the 1850 census (I might have
only scratched the surface), my guess is that he immigrated here from Wales
between 1840-1850.
The info I have on him is;
*Samuel Jenkins B: 1818-1819 - Wales D: 1879 - Moris
Twp, Tioga Co.
*Sarah (Campbell) wife B: 1828 - Morris Twp, Tioga Co.
D: 1908 - probably Morris twp, Tioga co.
*They were married abt 1842 in Tioga Co.
*According to the 1850 census their children were at the time;
John - 7 y.o.
Abner - 6
Elizabeth - 4
Robert - 7 months old.
This is accurate according to my records. My question
is could you please help me find any info (death certificate, town historian,
anything) that could lead to extending this line.

He was born in NY in 1807 and moved to Tioga Co. between 1850 and 1860. He had three children, John E., Ellen E., and Albert G. Albert is my great-grandfather. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have about Russell and his family. Thank you.
