Subject: Tioga County-Blossburg -ALLEN, Elijah
From: "barbara allen" barbee6057@msn.com
Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2007

I am searching for any information on Elijah ALLEN, born on April 7, 1844 in Blossburg, Tioga County, PA. I thought, based on 1850 Bloss Twp. census, that he was might be a son of Joseph and Sarah ALLEN, but that Elijah was born about 1840.

Additionally, I found Elijah and his mother Sarah in 1860 Bloss Twp. census and his age is listed as 19, so I feel this is not the Elijah in my husband's family. Any information is appreciated.

Please contact me at barbee6057@msn.com.

Thank you, Barbara Allen

Subject: WILSON 1927 TIOGA COUNTY
From: barbsspace-misc@yahoo.com
Date: Sat, 6 Oct 2007

I am searching for information on a funeral home in Blossburg, PA in 1927. My Great Aunt, Mary Wilson died at her home April 16, 1927 in the township of Bloss. She was the widow of John G. Wilson who passed away sometime between 1910-1920. The name of the undertaker on Mary Wilson's death certificate I am unable to read. The initials are J.J. something, but can't read the last name. I am searching for information on where Mary Wilson was buried. I know it was in Blossburg.

If anyone has any information that might help in my search, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Barbara Thompson

Subject: John W. HOWE, George HOWE, Bradford and Tioga Counties
From: "Karen Lockhart" klockhart@socal.rr.com
Date: Sun, 2 Sep 2007

I am searching for information on John W. HOWE (b. 1813, d. 1883) and his wife Caroline (b. 1818, d. 1890). According to Census records they lived in Burlington township, Bradford County in 1850, and then in Ward township, Tioga County in 1860 and 1870. I am a descendant of George HOWE, b. 12 Aug. 1861 in Tioga Co..

Handwritten notes from my family speak of siblings of George named Emily, Judson (William J.), Scott (J. Scott), James, and Sarah. These children are on the census records with John and Caroline HOWE, however, I have been unable to connect them with George. The handwritten notes also state that George was raised by his sister Sarah. If you have any information, please contact me.

Thank you!
Sincerely, Karen Lockhart

Subject: DAVIES, Arnot, Tioga County
From: Mike Davis,  mk-davis@shaw.ca
Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2007 10:56:11 -0700

To: Anyone who can help. My G Grandparents; Samuel C Davies & Mercy (Mary) and son Elisha from Lower Gornal, Staffordshire England arrived in Arnot at an unknown date, but Mercy gave birth to a son there on 4th October 1872, he was named Samuel after his father. He was baptized on November 10th 1872 by George Parker of the "Primitive Methodist Connexion" church in Arnot. I'm trying to find out when they arrived in the area and that could be as early as 1963, how long they stayed, what they did while they were there, and when they left the area. I suspect Samuel C. was involved in the opening of the mines in Arnot. I believe this because in 1888 he was involved with Robert Dunsmuir in opening the mines in Cumberland, B.C. Canada. Sam was the general foreman of this project and the way he handled the opening of the mines, the building of the town and how the railroad was built etc was like a re-run of the development of Arnot. Any help or information on any kind on these ancestors of mine would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Mike Davis
