An absolutely great site you have . I have found a wealth of info on it. I'm trying to research my wife's family. Her father was Jerry J. RICE b. 2/11/10 ; d. Nov 1985. His father was Irwin RICE from Little Marsh And his mother was Mary Elizebth Shelman. In later years they lived in Wellsboro on Grant street. I would like to get any history anyone has on these fabulous people.
Many thanks in advance

Joyce,
First I must comment on your wonderful website. It is awesome!
I am a beginner on searching your tri area. I am interested in
a John Cole who may have married an ancestor of mine, Almira Clark Miller
in Wayne County, Ohio. I note in your surnames index that you have Cole
as a surname. From what I can determine the John Cole I am looking for
is listed in the Union Twp, Tioga, Pa 1860 census, age 76, living with
his daughter Jane ( Thomas) Canady, page 689. His son Orson Cole and daughter
Isabel Cole are also listed on this page. I am very interested in finding
anything I can about these members of the Cole and Canady families. I hope
your Cole's are related.
Thank you for your help and for sharing so much information with
others,
Elaine Child
Good morning, Joyce. I have "visited"
your website MANY times in the research of my family ancestors, whom I
have
been told had been in the tri-county area
of Pa. namely, Tioga, Bradford, and Chemong, Pa. ( this according to my
90
yr.old aunt, who tells me that she was born
in Pa., her birth year would be 1912? I have been searching all 3
counties for
any information concerning the MANNIX family
at that time...???My father has told me that he was born in Marion
Co.,W.Va...that the familyl had immigrated
from Ireland, were Irish Catholic, and were coal miners. The information
I
have "gleaned" thus far is that my Paternal
G.father was a supervisor? or Superintendant in the coal mines? This
according to my aunt. Could you possibly
be of any help to me? I have been trying to "trace" their route(s)
from upper
Pa. (or N.Y) to W.Va..the familyl eventually
settled in Northampton Co.,Pa.city of Easton.
Thank you for your kind consideration. Fame Mannix Ackerman.
Thank you for the site. My mother-in-law was a Mc Queen. She married a William Meckes. They moved to Sparks, Nevada I think in the late 40's or early 50's. Her father was a doctor in Tioga, Pa. It was a mining town and he was the only doctor. It had to be in the early 1900's or late 1800's. I'm looking for her parents names, where they were born, when they died, and any other records there are available. I don't know where they were buried. If any of these records are available on the Internet I would gladly do the research.
Thank you again.
Amelia

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this list, so I hope I am sending this query correctly.
I'm looking for info on my Hall family in the MORRIS RUN/FALL BROOK
area. WILLIAM SAMBROOK HALL, my Great Grandfather brought his wife MARY
ESLER (MORGAN) HALL and their children, MARGARET JANE, MARY GWEN, SARAH
ANN, THOMAS ANTHONY, WILLIAM EGBERT, EDITH ESTER, and EVAN JOHN HALL, to
Pennsylvania from Wales in about 1889 or 1890. He was a Stationary
Engine Driver in the coal mines. He died in 1895, only 5
or 6 years after arriving in this country, and is buried at Fall Brook
Cemetery. This area was part of the HAMILTON TOWNSHIP at that time, and
since the 1890 census was destroyed I am having a difficult time finding
a record of my Great Grandfather's existence in the US. I have been searching
for City Directories for this area for the years of 1889 - 1895, but so
far haven't found a thing that may include an entry for him. Though I have
discovered information on them in Wales, and on his children and wife,
who remarried after his death, I cannot find a mention of them in this
country before his death.
Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading this,
Rhonda
Looking for info on a Deborah Withey who probably lived in Lycoming County, Pa. and may have been a daughter of Elias (~1800) and Anna (~1806) Withey of Union Township, Tioga County, Pa.. She married a Simon Hufford (born 1841?) who I believe was the son of Michael (1801) and Catharine (1804) Hufford of Stroud Township, Monroe County, Pa. which would make his birth about 1841. Other siblings of Simon include John (~1838), Eliza (~1843), Nancy (~1845) and Sarah Jane (~1849). Simon and Deborah Hufford's known children are Harry Curtis (b. 1882), Emma, Annie and Katie. Simon and Deborah are buried in Bradford County near Canton (Grover Cemetery).
Other children of Elias and Anna Withey are Sally (~1826), Sanford (~1827), Louis (~1828), Alonzo (~1831), Myron (~1834), Hiram (~1836), Electa (~1839) and Caroline (~1844).

I am trying to locate cemeteries in the Mansfield area. I would
like to find my GreatGrandfathers cemetery. His name is Alanson or
Lanson SWAN who died on the 29 November 1887 in Mansfield, Tioga County,
Pennsylvania. I always thought he was buried in the State Road Cemetery
but according to the caretaker he is not. He suggested looking in
the Mansfield Cemetery but I have been unable to find a cemetery of that
name in Mansfield. I would like (if anyone knows) the names of the
cemeteries in Mansfield and/or caretakers names. Any information
would be helpful. Thanking you in advance. Thanks

Hello, Joyce. My goodness, what work you've done! Very impressive web site!
I have some "lost" ancestors, have tried searches of your web site, but didn't come up with anything, and thought perhaps you might have additional resources to check. I am looking for death dates, locations, and/or burial for: John SNOW (b. Mass. 1773) and wife Mary (COOK) (b. Ont. 1796). They are supposed to have lived in Massena, St. Lawrence county, NY 1820's to 30's. One mention amongst family research notes has death dates of 1834 or 1837 "in Ogdensburg". Of course, I've checked all available resources in St. Lawrence county, NY, and nothing. I am reduced to checking other "Ogdensburgs". There are a couple of possible Pennsylvania connections in spousal surnames, nothing that has been useful yet, but it's not New Jersey, for instance.
If you have anything on SNOW with connections to upstate NY, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for your time.
