First Generation

1. Reuben1 Daggett,(1) son of Reuben Daggett and Isabel Round*, was born in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts 11 NOV 1755. Individual flags: Rev.War. Reuben died 8 FEB 1835 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 79. His body was interred FEB 1835 in Daggett Cemetery, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
 

He married three times. He married Esther Cobb * 11 DEC 1777 in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Esther was born 1750 in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Esther died 2 DEC 1798 in Paris, Oneida County, New York, at age 48. He married Keziah Darby * 9 DEC 1800 in Utica, Oneida County, New York. Keziah was born 1753. Keziah died 15 MAR 1827 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 73. He married Abigail Woodard * 31 MAY 1827 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Rhoda Ladd page 55 of Tioga County Revolutionary Soldiers. Reuben is # 929 in A History of the Doggett-Daggett Family by Samuel Bradlee DOGGETT, Boston, 1894, reprinted by Higginson. Reuben DAGGETT served in the Revolutionary War. He resided in Westmoreland NH until 1797, when he removed to Paris Furnace, eight miles from Utica NY, then ten years later to Daggett's Mills, Tioga County, PA. Daggett's Mills Post-office originated from the building of grist and saw mills in that place by the sons of Reuben Daggett.

He married Jennie Briggs * 3 MAR 1800 in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Reuben and Jennie removed to Cattaraugus County NY.

3. Chloe2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 20 JUL 1783. Chloe died JUN 1842 at age 58.
 

She married Miller Vaughn *. Miller died JUN 1812 at age unknown. Chloe had five children.

14 i. Mary3 Vaughn. She married Mr. ? Gifford. Mary lived in Wellsboro PA in 1892.

4. Esther2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 26 DEC 1785. Esther died about 1852 in Cooper's Plains, Steuben County, New York, at age unknown.
 

She married John Franklin *.
 

Esther Daggett and John Franklin* had the following children:
 

15 i. Rufus3 Franklin. Reuben lived in Coopers Plains NY in 1892.

16 ii. Kesiah Franklin. She married Mr. ? Bidler. Kesiah lived in Caton, Stueben County, NY in 1892.

6. Saloma2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 3 JUL 1790. Saloma died 1856 in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 65. Her body was interred 1856 in Furman Farm,Rutland,Tioga,PA.(2)
 

She married twice. She married William Keyes 1809 in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. William was born in Massachusetts. William was the son of Peabody Keyes* and Persis Brook*. William died JUN 1813 in Wells Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, at age unknown. She married Alexander Harris * 1815 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Alexander was born 1782. Alexander died 28 JUL 1855 in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 73. His body was interred JUL 1855 in Furman Farm,Rutland,Tioga,PA.(3) Age 73 on tombstone.
 

Alexander was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Saloma and Alexander had one male and one female 10-15, one female 15-20, and two females 20-30 in their household. Sons, Alexander and Abel, lived adjacently with young wives. Saloma had children before her second marriage, and Alexander may have also. The Daggett Genealogy includes the four children they had together, but the 1840 Sullivan township census, reveals three more, who are probably one older son and two older daughters, of a previous marriage of Alexander. Saloma moved to Vermont following her marriage to Mr. Harrris, according to the Daggett Genealogy, but the 1840 census includes two Alexander Harrisses and an Abel Harris who must be the same family. Apparently they returned.

18 ii. Abel Harris was born BT 1815 - 1820. Abel was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Abel, who was between 20 and 30, and his wife, who was between 15 and 20, lived next to his parents and brother i 1840. Abel lived in Plainfield, Wisconsin in 1892.

19 iii. Didamia Harris was born in Vermont 30 JUL 1820. Didamia died 24 SEP 1895 at age 75. Her body was interred Sep 1895 in Watson Cemetery,Roseville, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. She married Collins W. Soper. Collins was born 22 FEB 1818 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Collins was the son of Solomon Soper and Mary "Polly" Corey. Collins died 21 DEC 1893 at age 75. His body was interred Dec 1893 in Watson Cemetery,Roseville, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Should be hooked up to other Bradford County Sopers when link is found. 20 iv. Polly Harris was born in Vermont 1823. She married Gibbons Baker before 1848. Gibbons was born 1815 in,Maryland. Gibbons was the son of George Baker* and Kate Unknown (Baker). Gibbons died in Columbia Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, at age unknown. Gibbons was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Gibbons was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Gibbons was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Gibbons was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Polly married Mr. Baker and lived in Rutland in 1892.

Saloma Daggett and William Keyes had the following children:
 

21 v. William B. Keyes was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 16 MAR 1812. He married Sarah M. Wells* 14 AUG 1841 in Tioga, Tioga Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. William lived in Tioga PA in 1892. He had gone to Vermont with his mother and brother, but he returned to Pennsylvania where he made his home, and where he became a person of position and substance.

22 vi. Seth Q. Keyes was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 3 JUL 1813. Seth died 1852 in Liverpool, England, at age 38. Seth "went to sea." He married in Ireland.

7. Major Seth2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 3 JUL 1790. Individual flags: Newspaper. Seth died 2 JAN 1874 in Tioga township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 83.
 

He married Eunice Allen 10 OCT 1810 in Utica, Oneida County, New York. Eunice was born 15 MAR 1790 in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Eunice was the daughter of Joseph Allen* and Eunice Kinglsey*. Eunice died 22 MAR 1864 in Tioga township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 74. Mansfield Advertiser Jan 1874 : Died Major Seth Daggett Tioga, Jan. 2 1874 in 84th year Born Westmoreland NH July 3rd 1790. Here since 1807 in Jackson township. To Tioga in 1843. Five children.
 

Eunice Allen was a niece of Samuel Allen, who was defeated on the Democratic ticket for governor of Massachusetts. Soon after the marriage of Eunice and Seth, they moved to Tioga county, where Major Daggett became widely known and respected. He was made major of militia, and served one or two terms as sheriff of Tioga county. He engaged extensively in lumbering, and at one time owned large tracts of land. The family lived in Jackson township, Tioga county, Daggett's Mills Post-office.
 

Major Seth Daggett and Eunice Allen had the following children:
 

23 i. Allen3 Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 6 OCT 1811. Allen died 12 MAR 1886 in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 74. He married Clarissa Starkey 9 MAR 1844 in Tioga township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Clarissa was born 21 AUG 1823 in Hector, Tompkins County, New York. Clarissa was the daughter of William Starkey* and Polly Benjamin*.

24 ii. George Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 30 JUL 1813. George died 18 MAR 1850 in Tioga township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 36. He married twice. He married Harriet Dewey FEB 1836 in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Harriet was born 19 SEP 1819 in Columbia Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Harriet was the daughter of Levi Dewey* and Delighta Watkins. Harriet died 19 OCT 1839 in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 20. He married Eliza Pettengill 14 NOV 1841 in South Creek Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Eliza was born in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Eliza was the daughter of Samuel Pettengill* and Sally Taylor*. Eliza died 25 DEC 1880 at age unknown.

25 iii. Lewis Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 15 MAY 1816. He married Ellen Samantha Wells 4 MAR 1839. Ellen was born 30 JAN 1821 in Barrington, Yates County, New York. Ellen was the daughter of Norman Wells* and Elizabeth Coolbaugh*. Ellen died 1894 at age 73. Lewis lived in Toga PA in 1892.

26 iv. Clymena E. Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 16 MAR 1818. Clymena died 1873 in Utica, Oneida County, New York, at age 55. She married Richard L. Stilwell MAR 1841 in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Richard was born 27 JAN 1819 in Hector, Tompkins County, New York. Richard was the son of Edward Lounsbury Stilwell and Sarah Ferris. Richard died AFT 1899 at age unknown. Richard lived in Bellona,Yates County, NY in 1892. Rev. Richard L. Stillwell, of the Central New York Methodist Episcopal Conference, married 2d Laura Phelps Whitcomb, and 3rd, Julia Welsh Larzelere.

27 v. Minerva Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 19 MAY 1822. She married Daniel Dewey 11 APR 1839 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Daniel was born 15 SEP 1816 in Columbia Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Daniel was the son of Levi Dewey* and Delighta Watkins. Minerva lived in Tioga PA in 1892.

28 vi. Rowena Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 2 MAR 1824. She married William T. Urell* 1850.

29 vii. Mary Ann Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 11 SEP 1829. She married Capt. Hiram Willard Caulking 8 MAY 1850 in Tioga, Tioga Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Hiram was born 15 AUG 1817 in Tioga township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Hiram was the son of Allen D. Caulking* and Mary Ann Willard*. Mary Ann lived in Elmira NY in 1892.

30 viii. Charlotte Daggett was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 8 JUL 1831. Individual flags: Newspaper. Charlotte died 10 DEC 1849 in Tioga, Tioga Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 18. Tioga Eagle - Dec. 19, 1849 issue: Died on the ---inst., at Tioga Village, Miss Charlotte Daggett, in the 17th year of her age.

8. Rufus2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 31 DEC 1792. Rufus died 31 JAN 1835 in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 42.
 

He married Hannah Sharp * 8 JAN 1817. Hannah was born 1796. Hannah died 26 FEB 1883 in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 86.
 

Rufus Daggett and Hannah Sharp* had the following children:
 

31 i. William3 Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 26 DEC 1817. William died 21 FEB 1887 in Marinette, Wisconsin, at age 69. He married Mary Corzatt* 19 MAR 1839.

32 ii. Rufus Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 25 FEB 1819. Rufus died 1 JAN 1864 at age 44. He married Rachel Corzat* 30 JUL 1842. Note- I do not know that the parentage of the Rufus is correct- This is a guess. Info on son in law in source of data. Presidents, Soldiers, Statesmen. But this does say his wife's grandfather was Rufus Daggett, so it fits.

33 iii. Hannah Daggett was born in Daggett, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 21 NOV 1821. Hannah died 1893 at age 71. She married Reynolds Sixbee* 8 MAR 1841. Reynolds was born 1819 in Jefferson,Wisconsin. (Additional notes for Reynolds Sixbee* (4)) Reynolds died 2 OCT 1895 at age 76. Reynolds settled in Bradford County in 1840. When Hannah and Reynolds married they settled in Rutland Township in unbroken forest. They erected a cabin and began farming. In those days wild animals were plentiful and it was common to go out and shoot a deer or two before breakfast. Their children had five tame deer for playmates, two old ones and three fawns. Reynolds had worked as an employee of Reuben DAGGETT in his mills. He also found employment at blacksmithing and lumbering as well as farming, and he taught school. Five of the seven children of Hannah and Reynolds lived to adulthood. Bessie Daggett of Daggett Pa was the source of much of Alice's information. Hannah died either on 11 FEB or 2 NOV 1893.

34 iv. Lucinda Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 28 DEC 1823. Lucinda died 21 FEB 1880 at age 56. She married Charles Hunter Lefler 10 SEP 1840 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Charles was born 17 AUG 1821 in Tompkins County, New York. Charles (5) was the son of Christopher Lefler* and Maria(Mary) Crossart. Charles died 17 SEP 1872 in Jobs Corners, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 51. His body was interred SEP 1872 in Jobs Corners Cemetery, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Charles was a shoemaker.

35 v. Cornelius C. Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 5 AUG 1825. Individual flags: Civil War. Cornelius died 1907 at age 81. His body was interred 1907 in Mosherville Cemetery, Wells Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.(6) Tombstone says Co. K. 141 NY He married Martha Jane Seeley* 8 MAR 1846.

Jane was born 1830. Jane died 1897 at age 67. Her body was interred 1897 in Mosherville Cemetery, Wells Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.(7) Dagget Genealogy gives name as Cronelus rather than Cornelius.

36 vi. Sally Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 25 APR 1827. She married Samuel Crip*.

37 vii. Laney Daggett was born 1828. Laney died 1912 at age 84. Her body was interred 1912 in Daggett Cemetery, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.(8) Tombstone as listed gives name as Laura DAGGETT, shares tombstone with husband, Lyman BURTON. She married Lyman Burton 18 SEP 1850.

Lyman was born 30 NOV 1828 in Pennsylvania. Lyman was the son of Halsey Burton* and Rachel Wood. Lyman died 1890 at age 61. His body was interred 1890 in Daggett Cemetery, Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.(9) Lyman was in Rutland Twosnhip in 1850 census in household of Reynolds Sixbee as a laborer. There is no proof he is son of Rachel and Halsey at this time.

38 viii. Maranda Daggett was born in Pennsylvania 18 NOV 1833. She married Furman Lucas 12 FEB 1854. Furman was the son of James Lucas* and Phoebe Bishop*. Furman died about 1890 at age unknown. Furman mysteriously disappeared from his home in East Troy PA about 1889/1890 while recovering from a serious illness. This information is from sister Susan's obituary of 1890.

10. Lydia2 Daggett (Reuben1) was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire 16 JAN 1797. Lydia died 20 NOV 1843 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 46.
 

She married John Conable 1817 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. John was born 19 APR 1797 in Leyden, Massachusetts. John was the son of John Conable* and Lydia Stebbins*. John died 5 AUG 1839 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 42.
 

Lydia Daggett and John Conable had the following children:
 

39 i. Emily Belinda3 Conable was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 24 JAN 1818. She married Alfred Rozell* 9 AUG 1835 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Alfred was born 1819 in New York. Alfred died in Plainfield, Wisconsin, at age unknown. Alfred was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Emily had six children, all born in Jackson Township. Lydia and her husband and all but one of her children were residents of Plainfield, Wisconsin in 1886. They were present with four children in Rutland Township in 1850, but not present in Tioga County in 1860 or 1870.

40 ii. Squire Maxwell Conable was born in Litchfield, Herkimer County, New York 24 FEB 1820. He married twice. He married Sarah Sophronia Stowell*. He married Sabina Ann Crippen*. Squire lived in Pike, PA in 1892.

41 iii. Lydia Sophronia Conable was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 29 JUL 1822. She married John W. Joslin M.D..

42 iv. Clarinda Conable was born in Friendship, Allegheny County, New York 5 JUL 1824. Clarinda died 15 MAY 1860 in Pine Grove, Wisconsin, at age 35. She married Daniel Cornwell* 25 DEC 1842 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

43 v. Elmira Matilda Conable was born in Fredonia, New York 14 SEP 1826. Elmira died 11 NOV 1852 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 26. Elmira was a teacher.

44 vi. Julia Conable was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 10 AUG 1828. Julia died 14 DEC 1851 in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 23. Julia was a teacher.

45 vii. Seth Conable was born in Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 21 SEP 1835. He married Sarah Ann Burrows*.
