2 i. John2 Ludington (#9403) was born in Connecticut 1792. John died at age unknown. There is not a burial marker with Eunice for John. He may have left the area with a child after her death and died and been buried out of the township. I also do not find a record of burial in the West Branch Cemetery with son Amander. He married Eunice Unknown (Ludington) BEF 1815/20. (Eunice Unknown (Ludington) is #9404.)

In the Census of 1850, John was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. John was a farmer with $2500 in property. Nancy Hart age 17 and P. Hart age 16 are in the household. P. is a farmer. Nancy and Philip were children of his sister, Ruth.

John was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

His body was interred APR 1867 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Phoebe Rose BEF 1830. (Phoebe Rose is #6823.) Phoebe was born 6 APR 1805 in Hartland, Hartford County, Connecticut. Phoebe was the daughter of Russell Rose and Lydia Orvis. Phoebe died 10 JAN 1893 in Painted Post, Steuben County, New York, at age 87. Her body was interred JAN 1893 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

William registered to pay taxes 1816 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Sullivan Township was formed in 1816. It was taken from Covington Township. Its original boundaries included the southern half of Rutland formed in 1829, and the northern part of Ward which was formed in 1852.

In the Census of 1850, William was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. William was a farmer with property valued at $2000. The census incorrectly lists his age at 59 instead of 49. Irene is listed also in the household of Joseph & Lucy Robbins.

William was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

"The first election of [Sullivan] township was held in Gray's Valley; subsequent ones at the house of William Luddington and still later they were held at Mainesburg. William Luddington, at whose house the elections were so long held, kept one of the best houses of entertainment in northern Pennsylvania. He was one of those cheerful, big-hearted men whom the traveler delights to find for his host. He was one of the wealthiest men of the township in his day; was virtually the people's banker, and cheerfully loaned to his neighbors without interest." I am not certain if this refers to William or his father, but it seems likely to be this one.

4 iii. Mary Ludington (#26403) was born 17 SEP 1803. Individual flags: Bible. Polly died 13978 at age unknown. She married twice. She married Daniel Hart 2 JUN 1823. (Daniel Hart is #26398.) She married Timothy Hubbard AFT 1840. (Timothy Hubbard is #36940.) Timothy was the son of Ebenezer Hubbard*. No proof that Timothy was brother of Delos, son of Ebenezer. Delos was in Sullivan township when Timothy married Mary LUDINGTON Hart and thet is the basis for the assumed connection. Verification required. In the 1850 census, Delos Hubbard was in Sullivan township, but there was also a Delos Hummard and a Timothy Hubbard in Otsego County`which is where the Sullivan township Delos Hubbard was born.

Polly was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Mary was next door to her brother, William, in the 1840 census, following her recent widowhood. Her household included one male under age 5, one male and one female 5-10, two males and one female 10-15, and one male 15-20. Birthdates of Polly and Daniel end all their children are from Bible records copies of which are in Hagar, Luddington, Purvis binder. I can not locate the Daniel and Mary Hart household in 1830 and in 1850 there are several Timothy Hubbard households, on in Otsego County NY.
