Smith and Mary Abbott Bradford. She married Frank C. Avery 23 SEP

mentioned in diary of Sadie Monroe. Also Mansfield Advertiser 6th Oct 1875:
Married Frank C. Avery & Miss Mary E Smith of Sullivan Sept 23rd by
Rev. S. L. Conde at home of A.C. Smith in Sullivan. This marriage apparently
ended in divorce.
Mate died 11 APR 1896 in Sullivan
Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 41. Her body was interred
APR 1896 in Card Cemetery, Sylvania, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Mary is buried with her parents and brother. The tombstone reads Mary E.
Avery wife of S. G. Smith Oct. 7, 1854 - Apr. 11, 1896. Harding Genealogy
says she is Mary Avery Smith
Perhaps Mary's 1875 marriage was to
Frank Avery then she married Sanford after that? Something is confusing.
Sadie Monro's diary says she marries in 1875 and calls her Mate Avery after
that. Apparently Sanford outlived her if he in fact married again
after 1898. Something is confusing about dates. If Frank did not die until
1901, and Mate died before that and married Sanford, then there must have
been a divorce. Mate died two hours after surgery for a tumor in her Sullivan
home.
He married Joanna Unknown (Chapman)
AFT 1898. (Joanna Unknown (Chapman) is #1931.) It appears that
all three daughters died in their early twenties , probably of childbirth.
Need better clarification on death dates of wives and remarriage dates,
some overlap, needs confirmation.
