He married Hannah Buckley 3 MAR 1782 in Washington, Litchfield County, Connecticut. (Hannah Buckley is #6662.) Hannah was born 5 JUL 1754 in of Warren. Hannah was the daughter of Jabez Buckley and Mary Waring*. Hannah died 2 MAR 1828 in Mainesburg, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 73. Her body was interred Mar 1828 in Rumsey-Doud Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

Page 5. He was a resident of Sullivan Township when he applied for a pension in 1824 giving his age as 70. He served in a New York regiment from Dutchess County. Austin genealogy gives children as Luther, Lucy, Alvin and two daughters who died young. It does not mention Isaac or Hobby who may not belong to this family. Needs further research. The dates are within range and they are born in New York as are other of David and Hannah's children. David died while eating dinner in the hotel at Hume, Allegheny County, NY.

David Austin and Hannah Buckley had the following children:

2 i. Luther2 Austin (#6663) was born in Connecticut 7 NOV 1782. Luther died 20 JUL 1854 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 71. His body was interred Jul 1854 in Rumsey-Doud Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married twice. He married Sarah Williams* 22 NOV 1802. (Sarah Williams* is #7147.) Sarah was born 13 APR 1787 in Massachusetts. Sarah died 15 SEP 1845 in Bolivar, Allegheny County, New York, at age 58. He married Susannah Cudworth AFT 1845. (Susannah Cudworth reference Mainesburg) (Susannah Cudworth is #2208.) Susannah was born 1783 in Dighton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Susannah was the daughter of Paul Cudworth and Sarah Drinkwater. She married Noah Rumsey 22 MAY 1799. Susannah died 24 AUG 1862 in Mainesburg, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 79. Her body was interred AUG 1862 in Rumsey-Doud Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Susannah was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Susannah's household included two males 20-30, one female 20-30 and one 30-40. While the older history books tell us of the hardships our male ancestors endured in their migrations and in settling uncleared farmland, they usually forgot to mention that they were accompanied by an equally hard working and determined wife who, as in the case of Susannah, was probably pregnant or nursing while enroute and caring for numerous other small children on top of it. We do not wish to diminish the contributions of the men, but we do need to emphasize, since our early historians did not, that these women contributed every bit as much to the development of new communities as their menfolk. Just as many, or more, died in the process and endured the same hardships. Many a migrating woman gave birth unsheltered under a tree in the forest. Those who did not die young in childbirth must have been incredibly durable as in the case of Susannah, who lived to be almost 80 years old without any of the medical attention we enjoy today. They could not even imagine the luxury we live in today. Luther died from a fall off a hay wagon. Luther was a millwright and a farmer.

3 ii. Isaac Austin (#9027) was born in New York 1787. He married Ann Sherwood* BEF 1817. (Ann Sherwood* is #9029.) Ann was born 1790 in New York. In 1840, a John Sherwood lives very close. He is younger than Ann and may be a brother?

Isaac was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The family of Ann and Isaac includedone male and one female under 5, one female 5-10, and one male 10-15.

Isaac was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The household of Ann and Isaac included one male under 5, one male 5-10, one female and one male 10-15.

In the Census of 1850, Isaac was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Isaac was a farmer with property valued at $250. Guessing at relationship with David. Born in New York as are David's last two children in right age range. Guessing that Isaac belongs in this family by age and place of birth. Austin Genealogy page 48 says he had eight children although it only lists three by name and two others (daughters) not named. In the 1830 and 1840 census, Isaac and his family were in the Elk Run area of Sullivan township, rather than in Mainesburg, where the other Austins later lived.

4 iii. Hobby Austin (#9327) was born in New York 1792. Hobby died 1883 at age 91. His body was interred 1883 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Martha Unknown (Austin) by 1815/19. (Martha Unknown (Austin) is #9328.) Martha was born 1800 in Ireland. Martha died 16 FEB 1865 at age 64. In the Census of 1860, Hobby was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Hobby was a farmer with real property worth $2000 and personal property worth $400. Guessing that Hobby belongs in this family by age and place of birth. Austin Genealogy page 48 says he had eight children although it only lists three by name and two others (daughters) not named. 1840 census lists three daughters and a son.
