1. David1 Austin, son of Richard Austin and Elizabeth Jessa, (#6661) was born in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut 26 NOV 1746. Individual flags: Rev.War. David died 1824 in Hume, Allegheny County, New York, at age 77.
He married Hannah Buckley 3 MAR 1782 in Washington, Litchfield County, Connecticut. (Hannah Buckley is #6662.) Hannah was born 5 JUL 1754 in of Warren. Hannah was the daughter of Jabez Buckley and Mary Waring*. Hannah died 2 MAR 1828 in Mainesburg, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 73. Her body was interred Mar 1828 in Rumsey-Doud Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
David was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. See Rhoda E. Ladd's 1985 Tioga County, Pennsylvania Records : A Revoltionary Heritage. Page 5. He was a resident of Sullivan Township when he applied for a pension in 1824 giving his age as 70. He served in a New York regiment from Dutchess County. Austin genealogy gives children as Luther, Lucy, Alvin and two daughters who died young. It does not mention Isaac or Hobby who may not belong to this family. Needs further research. The dates are within range and they are born in New York as are other of David and Hannah's children. David died while eating dinner in the hotel at Hume, Allegheny County, NY.

3 ii. Isaac Austin (#9027) was born in New York 1787. He married Ann Sherwood* BEF 1817. (Ann Sherwood* is #9029.) Ann was born 1790 in New York. In 1840, a John Sherwood lives very close. He is younger than Ann and may be a brother?

In the Census of 1850, Isaac was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Isaac was a farmer with property valued at $250. Guessing at relationship with David. Born in New York as are David's last two children in right age range. Guessing that Isaac belongs in this family by age and place of birth. Austin Genealogy page 48 says he had eight children although it only lists three by name and two others (daughters) not named. In the 1830 and 1840 census, Isaac and his family were in the Elk Run area of Sullivan township, rather than in Mainesburg, where the other Austins later lived.
4 iii. Hobby Austin (#9327) was born in New York 1792. Hobby died 1883 at age 91. His body was interred 1883 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Martha Unknown (Austin) by 1815/19. (Martha Unknown (Austin) is #9328.) Martha was born 1800 in Ireland. Martha died 16 FEB 1865 at age 64. Her body was interred FEB 1865 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
Hobby was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Martha and Hobby were 30-40 with one male under five, a male and a female 5-10 and one female 10-15.

In the Census of 1850, Hobby was listed as a head of household in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Hobby was a farmer with property worth $1400. A Jane E. Austin age 25 is in the household, and a Mary Maebe or Mack age 7.

Guessing that Hobby belongs in this family by age and place of birth. Austin Genealogy page 48 says he had eight children although it only lists three by name and two others (daughters) not named. 1840 census lists three daughters and a son.
5 iv. Lucy Ann Austin (#5733) was born in New York 1797. She married Lyman Allyn Rumsey BEF 1816. (Lyman Allyn Rumsey is #5732.) Lyman was born 03 MAR 1792 in Hubbardton, Rutland County, Vermont. Lyman was the son of Jeremiah Rumsey and Asenath Doud. Lyman died 1874 in Troupsburg, Steuben County, New York, at age 82. Lyman registered to pay taxes 1816 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Sullivan Township was formed in 1816. It was taken from Covington Township. Its original boundaries included the southern half of Rutland formed in 1829, and the northern part of Ward which was formed in 1852.

6 v. Alvin Bolivar Austin (#5954) was born in Chenango County, New York 13 JAN 1800. Individual flags: Obituary. Alva died 21 DEC 1881 in Mainesburg, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 81. Mansfield Advertiser 28th Dec 1881: Died Alva Austin, Mainesburg, bur. last Friday age 82, father of Leander. One of early settlers. His body was interred DEC 1881 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah Drinkwater Rumsey 8 JAN 1824 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. (Sarah Drinkwater Rumsey is #5956.)
Sally was born 1 SEP 1800 in Vermont. Sally was the daughter of Noah Rumsey and Susannah Cudworth. Sally died 11 MAR 1878 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 77. Her body was interred MAR 1878 in Mainesburg Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Sally migrated with her parents from Vermont to Sullivan Township at the age of seven.
Alva was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Sarah and Alvin were 30-40. They had one daughter 5-10 and two sons under five, Ameda, Aaron and Luther.
