1. Silas1 Cummings * was born in New York 04 DEC 1822. Silas died 15 OCT 1899 in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 76. His body was interred OCT 1899 in Griffin Cemetery, Tower Hill, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
He married Mary Unknown (Cummings). Mary was born 21 JUN 1818 in New York. Mary died 02 MAY 1900 in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 81.
Silas Cummings* and Mary Unknown (Cummings) had the following children:

4 iii. Philia Cummings was born in Pennsylvania 1855.
+ 5 iv. George Cummings was born 1857.
6 v. Polly Cummings was born in Pennsylvania 1858.
7 vi. Fremont Cummings was born ABT 1861. He married Mary E. Johns of Rutland 7 MAR 1886 in State Line, Southport Township, Chemung County, New York.
8 vii. William Cummings was born in Pennsylvania 1862. He married Jennie Love. Jennie was born ABT MAY 1869. Jennie was the daughter of Nelson C. Love and Martha Rouse. Jennie died 14 NOV 1891 at age 22. Her body was interred NOV 1891 in Prospect Cemetery, Mansfield, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
9 viii. Philip Cummings was born in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1865.
3. Silas J.2 Cummings (Silas1) was born in Pennsylvania 1845. Individual flags: Obituary; Civil War. Silas died 21 FEB 1913 in Hibbard Run, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 67. His body was interred 24 FEB 1913 in Lawrence Corners, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
He married Mary R. Unknown (Cummings). Mary was born 1857 in Pennsylvania. Mary died 1916 at age 59. Her body was interred in Lawrence Corners, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

13. Ray3 Cummings (Silas J.2, Silas1) was born ABT 1891. Individual flags: Obituary. Ray died 17 DEC 1936 in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 45. His body was interred 19 DEC 1936 in Watson Cemetery,Roseville, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
He married Ethel Smith. Ethel was born in Lawrence Corners, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Ethel was the daughter of George F. Smith and Martha Crum. She married Colie Fields *. Ray died in a house fire. The chimney had caught fire and family members had been passing him water to put it out when he fell and was burned ot death. A full newspaper account clipping is in JMT-SRGP files.

She married Frank N. Allen *. Frank was born 1890. Frank died 1947 at age 57. His body was interred 1947 in Lawrence Corners, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
Ruth Cummings and Frank N. Allen* had the following children:
18 ii. Wilma Allen. She married Keith Cole. Keith is the son of Thomas R. Cole* and Jessie C. Unknown (Cole). Town cop in Mansfield in 1950s and 60s.
19 iii. Dorothy Allen.
He married Janie L. Barber. Janie was born 1891 in Caton, Steuben County, New York. Janie was the daughter of Matthew Barber* and Ellen Allen*. Janie died 1966 at age 75.
Riley F. Cummings and Janie L. Barber had the following child:
17. Ken4 Allen (Ruth3 Cummings, Silas J.2, Silas1) birth date unknown.
He married Lila Morse. Lila was born 03 Dec 1918 in LeRoy, LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Lila was the daughter of Delancey J. Morse and Daisy Mae Rathbun *. She married Mr. ? Edkins. Lila died 19 Oct 1994 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 75. Her body was interred 22 Oct 1994 in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
Ken Allen and Lila Morse had the following children:
21 i. Lyle5 Allen Jr. was born 1942. Lyle died 1959 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 17. His body was interred in Lawrence Corners, Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Died of cancer. He had red hair which he lost from chemotherapy.
He married Margaret Marie Garrison 1 JUN 1934. Margaret was born 16 AUG 1917. Margaret is the daughter of Clyde S. Garrison and Edith M. Freeman (Crandall).
Reuben W. Cummings and Margaret Marie Garrison had the following children:

+ 25 iii. Richard LaRue Cummings was born 16 Jun 1939.
26 iv. Douglas Alvin Cummings was born 11 Mar 1943. He married twice. He married Judith Helen Wilbur* 26 Sep 1964. Judith was born 30 Apr 1956. He married Linda Kay Fry* 27 Jun 1970. Linda was born 07 Sep 1946.
27 v. Robert Warren Cummings was born 8 APR 1946. Robert died 26 JAN 1950 at age 3. His body was interred JAN 1950 in Scotchtown Cemetery, Erin, Chemung County, New York.
During a conversation we had I mentioned that as part of the process of researching my Cummings line,--Descendants of Silas & Mary R. (Barber) Cummings,--I had accumulated a considerable amount of elimination data,--information on separate and distinct Cummings families (unless future research discloses currently unknown connections) in the SRGP-area as well as other parts of Tioga County.

Alexander & Rosanna (-----) Cummings
African-American Cummings line. Alexander & Rosanna appear in Franklin
twp. in 1830; Rutland twp. in 1840 and settled in Charleston by 1850. Alexander
Cummings was a miller in Charleston when he died in 1857.
Benjamin Cummings, Sr. & Sarah (-----)
Benj. Cummings originating 1788 in Orange co., N.Y. migrated to Tioga
co., Pa. descendants settled primarily in and around Mitchell Creek, Lawrence
township area.
Daniel & Elizabeth (Colvin) Cummings
Daniel was the renowned Distiller of Deerfield township.
Dwight & Sally (Wormer) Cummings
This Cummings line are descendants of William & Rhoda (Barrows)
of Tolland co., CT. Dwight was a 'native of Cayuga co., N.Y.' coming to
Tioga co. in 1856, rented a farm in Chatham twp. for a year, then settling
in Middlebury.
Jacob & Mary (Franklin) Comins/Cummings
This Cummings line originates with John Comins (ca. 1668-1751) and
his wife Mary, of Woburn and Oxford Massachusetts and Windham County, Connecticut,
aka 'Woburn John.' This Cummings line is most associated on the Tri-Counties
Genealogy & History Site with Wells twp., Bradford co. as identified
by J. Kelsey Jones. Jacob & Mary, however, moved into Rutland township
by 1840, Jacob died in Rutland April 30th 1844. Daughters of this Cummings
line married MOORE, BLY, and OSGOOD.
John & Sally (Covell) Cummings
While I have accumulated a sufficient amount of data to determine that
certain individuals belong to this line as opposed to another Cummings
line, I believe that Marjorie Oi would be considered the expert of this
line.
Miss Mary Cummings, Register & Recorder in Tioga Co.
Miss Mary Cummings was the d/o of James W. Cummings, of the Cummings
line descended from Isaac Cummings of Ipswich, Mass. Mr. Barry Moravek
of the Isaac Cummings Family Association would be considered the expert
of this line.

Mary states on Silas' death record that he was born in Orange co.,
N.Y. the s/o "John & Sallie Cummings." Not the same John & Sallie
(Covell) Cummings of Ridgebury twp., Bradford co. who came from Butternuts,
Otsego co., N.Y. At this time I have exhausted three John Cummings' in
Orange co. without successfully identifying any as Silas' parents.
