Methodist Episcopal Church
United Methodist Church

This Flag is found on many Methodist graves and its
full size version is frequently seen in front of the
churches.

I have found several commemorative flagholders for Methodist ministers. When a flag is present, it is the white flag with the blue corner and red cross as shown above. These flagholders are relatively common. I have found as many as seven of the crosses at lower right in a single small cemetery of maybe 200 tombstones, and as many as that of the older rusty circles in a larger cemetery. Except for two instances of Church of the Nazarene Ministers, I have not so far found many other religious denomination flagholders.

This rusty Veteran of the Cross Flagholder is with
the older name of Methodist Episcopal Church
This otherwise similar marker with the crown and cross
uses a newer version of the name, Methodist Church
This modern plaque is mounted on the tombstone.  This marker commemorating a Methodist "Preacher"
dates from the 1920s. I have been in small cemeteries
where as many as seven of these were present.
This is the flagholder version of the above. It says
Clergy in place of Minister. I don't know which is
the more recent.
This Methodist insignia with flame and cross is
engraved on the tombstone.
