The Massachusetts B.A.S.S. Federation is a branch of  B.A.S.S., or the "Bass Anglers Sportsman Society".  Their website, www.massbass.com states that to join Massachusetts BASS, you must first be a member of BASS.

B.A.S.S.'s  website is at www.bassmaster.com .  The following is from that page;

"The B.A.S.S. Chapter program began in 1968 with the affiliation of the first B.A.S.S. chapter, Chattanooga Bass Club. Since then the program has grown to more than 2,800 clubs with approximately 50,000 members.
B.A.S.S. chapter members are our grass-roots fishermen dedicated to the future of bass fishing. They furnish manpower, money and equipment for lake clean-ups, promote catch-and-release, encourage community involvement, lobby for and against proposed legislation, introduce youth to fishing and even conduct tournament creel census reports."

These are the people who sponser the BASS Master's Classic fishing tournament.
