My name is Carolyn Mason Buseman. Kudos to you on your extensive
web site. I trace my ancestry, paternal side, to Towanda and the
Mason-Humphrey connection. My father, Eugene Humphrey Mason, was
born in Towanda on October 24, 1897. My ancestry investigations,
titled "Saints and Sinners". is on Ancestry.com. On your Web site
I found you have my Great Grandfather, Julius W Mason, born 1835, buried
in Riverside Cemetery, new section, lot 21. My information is that
he died on December 19, 1882 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona and is buried in
the Post Cemetery. He was the Commander of the Fort at the time of
his death. Since this was during the Apache period I am still
trying to determine if he met with an Apache arrow or died of other causes.
I visited the grave site in 2002. If you can clear up this mixed
information it would be appreciated.
I have attached a picture of the 1860's JW Mason home in Towanda.
When I visited Towanda with my parents in 1949 we found the house had become
an Elks Club.
