MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT, made at Deerfield Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania , this 26 day of Aug 1922 by and between the school district of Deerfield Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, hereinafter designated as party of the first part and H. N. Watkins of the same place, party of the second part.

The said second party engages to draw the school children from Gravel Bank District and those along his route to the Knoxville, Pennsylvania, school for and during the full term of the said Knoxville school for the year 1922-23  The said second party is to furnish his own rig, blankets and robes, which shall be suitable and proper and shall afford sufficient protection to the school children in bad, cold or stormy weather. He shall furnish a competent and careful driver and shall not use in the fulfillment of this contract vicious or dangerous horses, in fact, he shall use due diligence in carrying the said children to and from school. He is to start early enough in the morning so that he will arrive at the Knoxville school house before school time and shall be ready to leave the Knoxville school house at the closing of each school day to reconvey the scholars to their homes.

He covenants and agrees to comply insofar as the transportation of the pupils are concerned with all the requirements of the school laws. He will keep and maintain good order and government in the said school wagon so that the children shall not become boisterous and thereby liable to injury. Nothing in this contract shall be construed to mean that he shall draw scholars who are not subject to be drawn by the said school district.

For his services, aforesaid, he is to have and receive for the school year the sum of $650 payable in monthly installments from date.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said school district has hereunto set its hand and seal by its President, attested by its Secretary, and second party has hereunto set his hand and seal.
