Joyce's Search Tip - January 2008
Do You Know that you can search just the Business pages of the site  by using the Business button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page? You will also find extensive business information in the Directory section.
This stood on Route 549 just south of the intersection at Lawrence Corners on the eastern side of the road just up the knoll. There is a (tan) house on that location now. This was operated at various times by Letta Giles and her husband, Mr. Mitchell. Carl Belz also operated it. Letta tells a story of the dog in the photo who saved her from being kidnapped by a band of "gypsies" one time when she was operating the store. Joan NASH O'Dell remembers waiting for the school bus at this building. Letta provided the photo.

Hi Joyce -

Enjoying looking over your recent pages.  Can't help commenting that I remember that filling station very well.  My uncles, Gordon and Sterling Brace, introduced my brother Jim and me to Fawn soft drink there in the 1930s.
Best regards,
David Smith
