Joyce's Search Tip - December 2007 -
 |
Do You Know that you can search just the
600
pages of Tioga County Cemetery Records on the site by using the Cemeteries
-Tioga button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the
Current
What's New Page? If you use that partition follow these steps to
search just one cemetery.
1. Choose Cemeteries - Tioga.
2. Enter part of the cemetery name [ie Newbury or Furman] AND a surname.
3. Choose the Find ALL Words option. Then it will find just the pages
with that surname in the one cemetery you indicated. |

Hi Joyce,
I am still wading through the cemetery records of Chemung, Bradford
and now Tioga Counties. The short listing on the Griffin Cemetery
at Roaring Branch surprised me. This cemetery is fairly large.
When my sister, Ruth, and I visited it in 1992, we could not locate our
maternal grandparents graves. The cemetery secretary's office is
a stone throw away from the little Post Office in Roaring Branch.
The secretary opened the cemetery books and we were able to get a lot of
information about our grand parents.
Our grandmother, Mary Baker Wheeler, wife of Edward Wheeler, died 22
Feb 1935, aged 65 years. Cause of death Paralysis left side.
Undertaker, C.L. Maneval, Williamsport, PA. A.N. Grenell Loc. Reg.
Dist. No. 41-05, permit no. 9. No stone.
Edward Martin Wheeler died 9 June 1947, aged 81 years, 9 mo, 5 days,
cause of death Cerebral Thrombosis. Buried 11 June 1947. Undertaker
Melvin C. Hagelman, Elmira, NY. No stone.
Their son, Leon Wheeler, is buried in the same plot and has a stone.
He died 4/8/1912, aged 21. cause of death, pneumonia. Undertaker
R.E. Bastin, Liberty, PA. Permit No. 204. There is a stone.
They are all buried in the same plot along with their youngest son,
Mark Amos Wheeler, who died 20 Oct 1947. No stone.
