This document states John Hill's regiment meeting up with George Washington.
John Hill served 8 months and also fought to keep the British out of Connecticut. John Hill was born in Guilford, Connecticut, moved to
Massechuets after the Revolution, then to Owego, New York and then to Orwell, Pa.

State of Pennsylvania
County of Bradford. On the 17th day of September AD 1832 especially appeared in opened court before Judges of the Court of Commons pleas of said county being a court of record, now stating John Hill, a resident of the township of Orwell in the county of Bradford, State of Pennsylvania, aged 81 years, who living first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the act of Congress paper June 7, 1832 that he entered a siege of the United States under the following named officers and served herein stated he enlisted into the service of the United States in the town of Guilford where he resided in the county of New Haven in the state of Connecticut in the year 1775 in the spring, he thinks in the month of May. He enlisted at this time into a company he can not remember the name of the colonel who commanded the Regiment to which he was attached- General Wooster had the command of two Regiments to one of which Captain Ward accompanied. His enlistment was for 8 months which term he served out under the said Captain Ward. He marched immediately after his said enlistment from Guilford to the city of New York. The said two regiments under the command of Captain Ward after the remaining side of Long Island to keep off the British. The last of his company was named Halls of New Save. While on their march from Guilford to New York, they met with General Washington. Their aides on their way to Boston. At the said of the 8 months, he was marched back to Guilford and was then discharged by a written discharge from Captain Ward at this time held a colonel commission but received as a captain.

John Hill married March 23, 1774, in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut, Rhoda Holt who was born February 11, 1758 in new Haven, Connecticut and reared there. The name of her parents or maiden name not shown.
Soldier’s widow, Rhoda Hill, was allowed pension on her application
executed May 9, 1838 while a resident of Orwell Township, Bradford County,
Pennsylvania. She died August 6, 1839.
The following names of children of John Hill and Rhoda are shown in

Aaron Chubbuck esq. J. Roger Alger are persons to whom this declaiment is know in his present neighborhood and who can testify as to his character for truth and residency and their belief of his services as a soldier of the Revolution.
He hereby relinquishes every claim what ever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares his name is not on the pension list Roll of the agency of any state.

We Aaron Chubbuck residing in Orwell Township, County of Bradford, State
of Pennsylvania and Roger Alger of the same place hereby certify that we
are well acquainted with John Hill who has subscribed and sworn to the
above declaration that we believe him to be eighty one years of age that
he is respected and believed in the neighborhood where he resides to have
been a soldier of the Revolution and that we concur to that opinion.

And open court do hereby declare their opinion of the investigation of this matter and after putting the interrogatives residents by their sworn attest aments that the above said applicant was a revolutionary soldier and was as he states and the court finds them certify that it appear to them that Aaron Chubbuck and Roger Alger who have resided the preceding certificate are residents in the town, county and state by them certified on living their place of residence.
In the year 1776 he again entered the service of the United States as
a volunteer Militiaman under General C. Sullivan Division at Guilford afore
and he thinks July or August for the term of three months during this review
he was principally at New York City and White Plains. The whole army under
the command is by General Washington retreated from Kingsbridge to White
Plains in the night during this term of his service; he was discharged
at White Plains and immediately returns home to Guilford. He was called
to Danbury, where the Continental Store was burned.
He also served for a short time in New Haven as a volunteer Militiaman
when it was attacked by the enemy and helped to defend it.
He served the last time under Captain Collins. He was never in any
general battle during his service, but in frequent skirmishes. During the
whole war, he was ready to march at a minute’s warning to repel attack
from the enemy. His written discharge received from said Captain or Colonel
Ward in Connecticut. He has no documentary evidence of his service nor
does he know of any person whose testimony he can procure who can testify
his service.
He was born in Guilford aforesaid in the year 1751. He has no record
of his age other than record made by himself in a Bible now of his possession.
About the close of the Revolutionary War, he removed from Guilford to the
town of Richmond in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. He resided in Richmond
about thirteen years and then removed to Owego, in the state of New York.
He resided at Owego about twenty one years when he removed to Orwell, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania where he now resides.
