Intestate John Short

Administrators David Short and Newberry Cloos

Be it Remembered that I have granted Letters of Administration to David Short and Newberry Cloos the son and son in law of the deceased John Short who were sworn to do the Duties of Administration according to the Conditions of the following Bond--- Know all then by these Presents that we David Short, Newberry Cloos, Stephen Cheney, and Israel Greenleaf of the County of Tioga in the State of Pennsylvania are held and firmly bound unto John Norris Register of the County of Tioga and to his Successor in Office in the sum of five hundred Dollars, current Money of Pennsylvania to be paid to the said John Norris or to his Successor for the use of the Commonwealth, to the which payment well and truly to be made and done, we and each of us jointly and separately to bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators firmly by the Presents sealed with our Seals and dated the twenty first day of Feby in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and thirteen--

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the within bounden David Short and Newberry Cloos Administrators of all the Goods & Chattels Credits &cc of John Short deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all the goods, Chattels and Credits of the Deceased which have or shall come to the possession or knowledge of them the said David Short and Newberry Cloos, or into the Hands or possession of any other person or persons for them, and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited, into the Registers Office of the County of Tioga, on or before the twenty first day of March next ending the date hereof, and the same goods Chattels and Credits and all other goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased at the time of his Death which at any time afterwards shall come into the Hands or possession of the said David Short and Newberry Cloos or into the Hands or possession of any other Person or Persons for them, do well and truly administer according to Law, and further do make or cause to be made, a true and just account of their administration at or before the twenty first day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, and all the rest and residue of the said goods, Chattels and Credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administrators Account unto such Person or Persons respectively as the said Orphans Court by their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the Acts of Assembly made and provided shall limit and appoint; and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and Testament was made by the said deceased; and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same into the said Registers Office; making request to have it allowed and and approved accordingly, if the said David Short and Newberry Cloos, within bounden being thereunto required to render and deliver the said Letters of Administration (approbation of such Testament being first had and made) into the said Registers Office then this Obligation to be void and of none effect an or else to remain in full force and virtue. --Sealed and delivered in presence of David Short [seal] Newberry Cloos [seal]
