Pictures: Nelson Watson was the father of Walter Watson (who worked at Troy Agway ) I believe Walt is buried in the Oakhill Cemetery. Haven't found Nelson.

NELSON R. WATSON
Nelson R. Watson, 94, of RD 3, Troy, passed away Saturday, December 15, 1990
at the Bradford County Manor. He was formerly of Canton. Mr. Watson was born
April 5, 1896 in Louisa County, Virginia. Mr. Watson pursued various careers;
logger, coal miner on Barclay Mt., blacksmith, cattle groomer for the late
Robert Slingerland Sr., employed at the former Troy Meat Plant and as a milk
hauler for the former Troy Dairy. He then entered dairy farming, retiring in
1969 when he sold his farm to his son, Walter. He was one of the few remaining
World War I Army veterans in Bradford County. Mr. Watson was a member of the
East Troy Baptist Church, Brooks-Flick American Legion Post No. 49 and the Log
Cabin Hunting Club on South Mountain in Canton Township. Mr. Watson had the
distinction of being a member of one of the first Boy Scouts Troops in the
United States (Troy). Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Rose Lee Watson; a
son, Walter of Troy; half-brothers, Joseph Harrison of Washington, DC and Edward
Harrison, MD; 12 grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;
daughter-in-law, Anna Watson, Elmira, NY; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr.
Watson was predeceased by his first wife, Helen P. Watson in 1964 and a son,
Raymond in 1986. Funeral services were held at the Morse & Kleese Funeral Home
in Canton on December 18 with the Rev. Herbert Punchard officiating.
Brooks-Flick American Legion Post 49 were to accord military honors. (TGR,

Thanks for the pictures. I don't know if Joyce knows, but Violet Burrow's birth name was Carey. Her mother, however, remarried and married a Bright. So I am (and am not...if you understand families) related to the Brights. Given mom's size (Pauline), I would suspect that picture to be from 1918-ish. (I also base that foolishly on knowing that Moncure and Violet moved to Elmira around 1918.)
It is interesting to see a Swan in the photo. There are Swans in
Corning, and when I lived there, I was often mistaken for a Swan. So now I
wonder if I'm related to them?! OH...wait...there it is Joyce's web
site...a Bright married a Swan! (Okay, that's makes me not related to the
Swans, except through marriage.) Jill Hurst-Wahl
