"Peleg Easterbrook, son of Dr. William and Patience (Salisbury?) Easterbrook,
was b. abt. 1750 at Pomfret, CT. He was an old Revolutionary soldier, and
a ship carpenter by occupation. He m[arried] March 6, 1770, Rebecca
Salisbury of Pomfret, dau[ghter] of William Salisbury of Warren, R.I., and
desc[endant] of William Salisbury, the first
man killed in King Phillip's war. Members of his family having settled
in Orwell, Pa., in 1812, Peleg and his wife soon after joined them. He
d[ied] in the fall of 1828, and his wife in Feb. 1838, and both are bur[ied] at
Wysox, Pa., where they had gone to live with their son William S. Both
Peleg and his wife became blind, but he regained his sight a few days before his

In April 2001, Patty Shumway, genealogist and Connie Covey, the keeper of
the Wysox cemetery records, assured me that "there is no individual stone for
Peleg and Rebecca," although they located the Easterbrook plot where the couple
are buried.
