This picture of Samual Stafford was owned by Ethal Balch of the Sabinsville area. She was the local teacher for several of the one room schools in the area. Her mother was Edith May Stafford. The back of the picture had Samual and Julia's birthdays listed and all the 5 sons listed but not the 2 daughters.

The Stafford-Campbell Family
Samual Stafford born in 1818 and Wife Julia Campbell born in 1825 and both born in Moravia, NY and moved to Tioga Township some time prior to 1845 and all their children were born in Pennsylvania they had 5 sons John, Warren, Alva, Frank and Charles and 2 daughters Alice and Anna. I am looking for information on Samual Stafford and Julia Campbell, their life, parents and where they came from. The 1860 Federal Census Pennsylvania,Tioga County has The Stafford family listed with ages and birth states except for the two youngest boys who were not born yet. The Mansfield Advertiser 24 May 1893 Julia Ann Stafford Of Moravia N.Y. (age 68) was in area when her sister who died at the age of 75,13 May 1893, Delania Babcock of Tioga had 2 sons (F. & G.)and a sister married to Carlton Philps of westfield and a sister married to John Goodspeed of Sabbinsville. From this it appears that Samual and Julia Stafford returned to Moravia, Ny. to live and their children stayed in the Sabinsville area as loggers and became farmers. Wellsboro Agitator 1880 1880 27-Jul D Stafford, Warren Died Warren Stafford of Westfield about 25 yrs of age, died in Chatham township last Sunday. THE PRESS OF WELLSBORO. THE COURTS-NOTED CRIMES AND TRIALS. On the 27th of January 1882 Floyd Whitney, of Chatham township, was arrested in Michigan and placed in the Tioga county jail at Wellsboro, to be tried in May following for the murder of Warren Stafford of Chatham township about eighteen months before. Whitney admitted killing Stafford with a club, but claimed that the blow was not struck with the intention of committing murder.
I have much more on the Stafford families in my web site http://www.genealogy.com/users/s/t/a/Melvin-L-Stafford
